[Tianjin City] Falun Gong Practitioner Yuan Hong Dies as a Result of Persecution
Mr. Yuan Hong was a 52-year-old Falun Gong practitioner who had lived in the Hedong District, Tianjin City. He worked at Heping District's Sanitation Clinic. After enforcers from the Hedong Police Department illegally put him into a forced labor camp for one year and two months, they extended his detention by two months because he resisted the police's coercion and refused to write a "guarantee statement."
Mr. Yuan Hong persisted in Dafa practice after his release and the police often went to his home to harass him. About half a year ago the police again went to his home to harass him. He was the only person at home at the time. Later, his family members who worked at a cotton-spinning factory received a police notice saying Yuan Hong had jumped from the sixth floor of a building and died. Ms. Gao Manli is a 40-year-old practitioner who works in Shenyang City's Chemical Company. She is a practitioner on the unlawfully circulated "wanted list." In November 2003, officials at the Liaohua Court illegally sentenced her to eight years imprisonment.

On or around June 15, someone reported a practitioner to the police. He is Mr. Zhou Linfa of the School of Political Science and Law at Zhejiang University. He was distributing truth-clarifying discs. Policeman Ye Shufeng from Gongshu District's Police Precinct in Hangzhou City put him into detention for a month and then sentenced him to forced labor.
Practitioner Zhou Linfa's wife did not have the right mindset and revealed information about another practitioner. She told the police about Dafa practitioner Wu Liren who had been detained in Hangzhou City's Detention Center for six months. At 9:00 a.m. on December 22, Wu Liren was put on a trial at the Xihu District Court.

Shanghai City's Jing'an Police Department (police department and national security department) arrested Dafa practitioner Mr. Ling Xiang from Guangzhou City and detained him at Jing'an Detention Center for four months. The police prevented his contacts with his family members and lawyer, and postponed his appeal for the two-year labor camp sentence against him. Policeman Jin Zhenshan from the National Security Section (Political & Security Section) for the Antu County Police Department has frequently harassed Dafa practitioners with all kinds of despicable methods.

Dafa practitioner Mr. Cheng Xiangwu, 61 years old, is the manager of Shiyan City's Food Company. In September 2003, Zhu Bangyi, deputy head of the city's "610 Office" and chief of the criminal police team in the city's police department led a group of policemen and abducted Cheng Xiangwu from home to the Meile Hotel where he was cruelly tortured. The practitioner's life is in grave danger and he is presently in the hospital for urgent care.
The enforcers hold brainwashing sessions at the Meile Hotel. They abducted from three to ten Dafa practitioners into every session, which lasted seven to ten days. The practitioner's work unit is forced to pay the costs for food and lodging. In addition, each practitioner was also extorted 2,000 Yuan [500Yuan is the average monthly income in urban areas of China]. If practitioners refused to pay, lawless policemen would require the work unit to deduct the money from the practitioner's salary or even directly extort money from the practitioner's relatives.
