Practitioner Tortured Over the Course of Three Years in Hebei Province: Body Scorched by Electric Batons

December 04, 2004 |

Falun Dafa practitioner Liu Wen from Zhuozhou, Hebei Province was sentenced to two years of forced labor at Baoding Labor Camp in February 2001. Since he refused to renounce his belief in Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance, he was tortured on a "Dead Person's Bed" (1) for 17 days in September 2001 by guards Li Dayong, Liu Yuesheng, Ru Jixiang and others. Li Dayong used electric batons to shock his neck, chest, lower abdomen, arms and legs, but could not make Liu Wen give up his belief.

On September 23, 2001, Liu Wen and two other practitioners were transferred to Tangshan City's Hehuakeng Labor Camp in Hebei Province and persecuted further.

Liu Wen's sentence ended in February 2003, but he was not released. The Zhuozhou "610 Office" sent him to the Zhuozhou Brainwashing Class. Liu remained steadfast and did not give up his belief. In November, the Zhuozhou "610 Office" sent him back to Baoding Labor Camp for an indefinite period of time. They did not even make up an excuse for continuing to detain him.

In May of this year, the Baoding "610 Office" gave hundreds of thousands of yuan to Baoding Labor Camp as a bonus for persecuting practitioners. This exacerbated the treatment of practitioners. Guards Li Dayong, Liu Yuesheng, Ru Jixiang, Liu Qingyong and Song Yahe bound Liu Wen to the "Dead Person's Bed" for at least ten days. He was tortured with electric shock batons for over one hour, which scorching his entire body. The guards also shone very bright lights directly in to Liu's eyes, deprived him of sleep and played brainwashing movies throughout the night. Liu Wen's electric shock wounds would not even recover after more than two months. Regardless, he was forced to labor from 8 o'clock in the morning until midnight every day.

(1) "Dead Person's Bed" -- The four limbs of the practitioner are stretched out and tied to the four corners of an icy-cold metal bed. The practitioner cannot move at all. Neither is he allowed to get up to eat, drink, or go to the bathroom. This treatment would last from several hours up to several weeks. This type of cruel torture causes severe damage to the practitioner both mentally and physically.
