Detailed information about Liu Jiahui:

Liu Jiahui is very bright and has had a superb memory from the time she was a small child. After she was born, she was taken care of by her maternal grandfather and grandmother, since her mother, Yu Lixin, suffered from several illnesses and her father was busy with his business.

At the age of three, Jiahui could read over 1,000 Chinese words. Little Jiahui was good at painting, and at the age of four obtained the third class prize in a painting contest named "Small Artists in River City," held by North Women's Magazine in Jilin Province.

In 1997, her parents took her back home because her mother, Yu Lixin, had begun practicing Falun Dafa and completely recovered from her illnesses. When Jiahui returned home at the age of five she also started to practice Falun Gong with her mother. In August 1998, her father also started to practice. The three family members studied the Fa and did the exercises together and shared experiences every day, and their family life was very harmonious. When little Jiahui obtained the Fa in 1997 at the age of five, she immediately read Zhuan Falun five times through on her own. Since then, she has never stopped studying the Fa and doing the exercises. She always sits in meditation for over one hour. She always persists until she is finished, and also does the other four exercises.

Five-year-old Liu Jiahui doing the "Falun Standing Stance" exercise

Jiahui participated in group exercises and group study every Sunday, regardless of whether it was very cold or very hot outside. Whenever little Jiahui encountered conflicts with her friends, she always looked within herself and lived up to the standard of the Fa. She not only read and memorized the book herself, she also encouraged her parents to study the Fa and upgrade their xinxing. She even saved the money she might have spent on new clothes or food and instead spent it on Dafa work.

On July 19, 1999, Jiahui went to Beijing with her parents and six other practitioners to appeal, having heard that Jiang's regime decided to ban Falun Gong. After they returned home, her mother, Yu Lixin, was forcibly subjected to frequent interrogations by officials from Jilin City's Committee and the city's General Workers Union, and her home phone hardly stopped ringing until midnight every day. Community officials and police officers repeatedly harassed her family. Faced with this, little Jiahui still insisted on cultivation and encouraged her mother, who had some fear at the time, "What do you fear? We didn't do anything bad." Little Jiahui's words encouraged her troubled mother. Jiahui's mother hence never compromised with the evildoers in any circumstances, and she firmly validated Dafa.

In September 1999, Jiahui's parents once again went to Beijing to validate Dafa. After they returned home, they were framed and designated as the leaders of Falun Gong practitioners. They were attacked on TV and in the newspapers, and were finally illegally detained. Little Jiahui was then forced to become separated from her parents and live with her maternal grandfather and grandmother in an uncle's home in Siping City. In July 2000, when little Jiahui once again was united with her parents, who had been unconditionally freed from prison, her first words were, "I want to go to Beijing to validate Dafa since I only went there once." Jiahui's parents were extremely moved by her pure heart and couldn't help bursting into tears.

In September 2000, Jiahui's father was illegally sentenced to a two-year-term in a forced labor camp because he went to Beijing to validate Dafa. Following that, in November 2000 her mother was illegally sentenced to a five-year term in the Heizuizi Prison because she made Dafa truth-clarifying materials. When Jiahui saw other children having fun with their parents, a little not-easily-detected distress would show up in her eyes. Confronted with the overwhelming lies and facing so many people who did not know the truth of Falun Dafa, Jiahui gradually became silent and never mentioned her parents to fellow students and teachers in her school.

Little Jiahui with her parents

On April 7, 2002 Mother Yu Lixin was tortured to near-death by the police from Heizuizi Prison. Jiahui, her maternal grandfather, and her uncle went to the hospital to see her. A sand storm that day was so strong that it was dark everywhere, and traffic was congested. They made it through all kinds of troubles to arrive at the hospital. Jiahui saw that her mother was at the brink of death, but her hands and legs were still tied to the bed with cloth strips. Two police officers, one male and one female, and two prisoners were monitoring her mother. She also saw that there was a scar on her mother's foot. Although 8-year-old Jiahui hadn't seen her mother for a long time, when she saw her mother in such a terrible state she was too frightened to approach her, and only watched silently from far away.

On May 13, 2002, Jiahui's mother was tortured to death in the Heizuizi Prison, Jilin Province. Having lost one parent's love and the opportunities for cultivation, little Jiahui became lonely, impatient, and self-indulgent. Sometimes she couldn't maintain her xinxing.

One time, three practitioners went to visit Jiahui. When one auntie [in Chinese culture, an auntie is a respected and beloved acquaintance] fellow practitioner told Jiahui how wonderful it was that Dafa was being spread so widely around the world, and that at present, practitioners needed to clarify the truth to the people and needed to make a large amount of truth-clarifying materials, Jiahui thought about it for a while and then took out her little piggy bank. She took out all her savings in the jar, gave it to the auntie and said calmly but firmly, "This is my savings from my New Year's gift and pocket money. Take it and spend it on making Dafa materials to offer people salvation!" Hearing little Jiahui's words, the fellow practitioners present all cried, being deeply moved by her pure heart.

When little Jiahui learned that there were Minghui Schools around the world, and that the students in these schools could publicly study the Fa and do the exercises, her eyes filled with pleasant surprise and she asked another practitioner, "When can we have our own Minghui School?" One practitioner answered, "It shouldn't be too long." The practitioners told Jiahui to diligently study the Fa and treat herself as a practitioner according to the standards of Dafa. Little Jiahui promised to follow everything they had suggested. She asked the three practitioners to send greetings to all the practitioners around the world, especially little practitioners. She also hoped that the little practitioners who can freely practice Falun Gong would cherish this precious time and circumstances.

Little Jiahui made excellent achievements in her school studies. Her maternal grandmother and grandfather, another grandmother, uncle, and aunt took out all their savings to support Jiahui's studies. Little Jiahui earned the yearly distinction "Students with Three Merits." During off-school hours she also took music lessons on the electronic organ. She has already passed the level 9 exam, the highest level in national amateur electronic organ exams. Whenever there were social activities in Siping City that needed organ accompaniment, the school would arrange for her to perform.

Various certificates and medals that Little Jiahui earned

Little Jiahui presently has a stable study and living environment. But her mother's death and her father's homelessness has hurt her deeply, which makes comforting her difficult.

Information about Yu Lixin, the mother of Liu Jiahui:

Name: Yu Lixin
Sex: Female
Date of Birth: May 29, 1966
Date of Death: May 13, 2002
Nationality: Han
Education: University
College degree: Economics Department, Jilin Agriculture University
Former Employer: Organization Department, Jilin City Worker's Union

Detailed information about Jiahui's mother, Falun Dafa practitioner Yu Lixin, who was tortured to death: Fortunate to find Falun Dafa, all her illnesses disappear

Yu Lixin was originally from Nong'an County, Jilin Province. She had been physically weak since childhood, and had many illnesses including neurasthenia, rheumatism, gastritis, gastroptosis, duodenal ulcer, heart disease, and other ailments. She started to work in 1990 and was married to Liu Hongwei.

Because of the stressful working environment, her health continued to deteriorate. In addition to her original illnesses, she developed rheumatoid arthritis, adnexitis, lower abdominal inflammation, peritonitis, myocarditis, irregular heartbeat, and other illnesses. She went everywhere looking for a cure but had no results. It was not uncommon for her to be hospitalized for eight months out of a year. Her employer spent tens of thousands of yuan each year for her medical expenses. Her family also spent over ten thousand yuan on her medical expenses each year.

Because Yu Lixin was weak and had many illnesses, she did not have any energy to take care of her family. The burden of taking care of the entire family was on her husband's shoulders. Because of the strained family environment her husband started to find other diversions. He drank every day, played the stock market, and played Mahjong continuously for several days and nights. All of these put their marriage on the verge of a divorce.

Yu Lixin had met countless medical experts in different areas, but her health still did not improve. The many intravenous injections made the back of both Yu Lixin's hands almost black, and she had several bags of Chinese traditional medicine at home.

In August 1997, Yu Lixin was fortunate enough to begin practicing Falun Gong. She got up early and stayed up late to learn the Fa and to practice the exercises. After three months, miracles started to happen. Her face, which used to be sallow, started to show some red color, and she stopped taking all the medicines that she had been taking for many years. She started to develop strength, and she could now help her husband take care of the family. Her family was then filled with joy once again.

Following the principles of "Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance" to be a good person anywhere and anytime

Since the time Yu Lixin began Falun Dafa practice, not only did all her illnesses disappear, but her human principles were also changed. She often told the people around her, "My life was given back to me by Falun Dafa! I will purposely tell many more people about the miracles and magnificence of Falun Dafa."

Yu Lixin's photo

In her work, Yu Lixin strictly followed the principles of "Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance" to be a good person. She did not take bribes, and she handled things fairly in her work. This helped more and more people understand that Falun Dafa practitioners are really good people.

She lived a thrifty and simple life, but every month she took half of her salary to buy Falun Dafa books, and gave them to other people. She also printed Master Li's Fa lectures and writings at her own expense for fellow practitioners. By then, the unit she worked in had more than a dozen fellow employees at different levels practicing Falun Dafa.

When the situation suddenly changed she went to Beijing to appeal. After being interrogated over a hundred times, her belief remained steadfast.

On July 19, 1999, When Yu Lixin's family of three, along with six other Falun Dafa practitioners, learned that a handful people in the central government decided to ban Falun Gong, these nine people, including six adults and three children, immediately went to Beijing to safeguard the Fa. They later returned safely.

The municipal Party committee and Jilin City government proposed a slogan to achieve a 100% reformation rate of the Falun Gong practitioners. Faced with this, many practitioners yielded against their own will under the overwhelming pressure.

Yu Lixin and another practitioner at her work were the only ones who declared that they would not give up Falun Gong practice. Then they became the focus at her work unit, and the municipal Party committee recorded their names. Those leading cadres tried all kinds of methods to "reform" them.

Yu Lixin was then taken from her work and sent to a brainwashing class. There she was ordered to write the "Three Statements." Leading cadres at different levels, along with psychologists and criminal experts spoke with her, individually and collectively, over eighty times. Her work unit organized people and held discussion forums, trying to "help" her several times. These were for one purpose -- to destroy her righteous belief and her will, and to force her to be consistent with the Central Party Committee when facing major issues. They even said it was OK that she pretended to be reformed, or lied about stopping Falun Gong practice. Facing such high pressure mental torment, Yu Lixin kept a clear mind. Her firm, righteous belief made all the personnel who were trying to "reform" her feel that their efforts were useless. Yu Lixin's home phone kept ringing until late at night. This drove her whole family to physical and mental exhaustion.

Facing the prolonged pressure around her, Yu Lixin's mental condition sometimes was not too good. She often came to work holding her head high, but after a whole day of "confrontations" she went home with her head bowed. At such times she found fellow practitioners with whom to study the Fa and to discuss things together that same night. After she understood the issues from the principles of the Fa, the next day she came to work again, holding her head high.

She went to Beijing again and was thrown into prison. She remained steadfast in cultivation, with rock-solid belief

On September 6, 1999, Yu Lixin went to Beijing to appeal. She shared experiences with fellow practitioners from other parts of the country and led the local practitioners in Beijing to come out to validate Dafa.

Local leading cadres and Beijing's Ministry of Public Security were alerted to her trip to Beijing. Later, people from the Ministry of Public Security determined Yu Lixin's location by tracking her cell phone signals. They abducted Yu Lixin and her husband from their rented residence in Beijing. The police handcuffed and chained Yu Lixin and her husband, and took them back to their hometown. When they were led off the train, the evildoers indulged in an unbridled publicity farce through the local media.

Yu Lixin and her husband Liu Hongwei

Yu Lixin and her husband, Liu Hongwei, were sent to the No. 1 Detention Center in Jilin City. Her family was brainwashed by propaganda. When they met with Yu Lixin, her brother slapped her face and her father cried and demanded that she sign a document to renounce her belief. During the illegal detention, Yu Lixin did the Falun Gong exercises openly and held a hunger strike to protest the persecution. She helped many inmates, including those who beat her, to learn the truth, and also helped many practitioners who had misunderstandings about Dafa by studying the Fa with them. Because of this, the guards decided Yu Lixin was "inciting people" and detained her in solitary confinement for many days. In December 1999, the Jilin City Public Prosecutor issued an unlawful arrest warrant for Yu Lixin.

At the No. 1 Detention Center in Jilin City, Yu Lixin held a hunger strike and persisted in doing the Falun Gong exercises. The guard and inmates brutally force-fed her and tortured her, but they still failed to stop her from studying the Fa, doing the exercises, and clarifying the truth. Her family gave her over 2,000 yuan at the detention center. During more than nine months of detention, Yu Lixin didn't spend any money on herself [food was provided by the detention center], but she spent more than 600 yuan to buy clothes and other daily necessities for inmates without family or who could not afford these items. She didn't even buy any utensils for herself, and used a broken fork to eat. The guards and many inmates saw the wonders of Dafa by watching Yu Lixin. Inmate Li Weijing was sentenced to one year of detention in early 2000 for financial crimes. She was held at the No. 1 Detention Center in Jilin City. She was appointed head of the cell because she was aggressive and domineering. She got to know many illegally detained Dafa practitioners and learned the truth of Dafa. She then started practicing Falun Dafa and was soon released. Many guards who learned the truth pretended they didn't see anything when they noticed Yu Lixin doing the exercises.

One time the head of Jilin City's Public Prosecutor's Office met with Yu Lixin and told her to give up Dafa practice, saying he would otherwise convict her and sentence her to a heavy prison term. Yu Lixin told him about the tremendous changes that took place in her after she began practicing Falun Dafa, and advised him not to persecute Dafa and Dafa practitioners and to build a bright future for himself. The head prosecutor was exasperated. He pounded on the table and shouted, "If you don't change your attitude, I'll give you a heavy prison term." Yu Lixin calmly and kindly said to him, "Although you are the head prosecutor, you can't determine my fate, because my Teacher arranges my path of life."

In late 1999, the Jilin Municipal Party Committee held a meeting and decided to expel Yu Lixin from the Party and fire her from her job, according to government policies. Within one week of the meeting, part of the conference room where the meeting was held was burned in a fire.

During her hunger strike, Yu Lixin was sent to a hospital. Her work unit, Jilin City Workers' Union, paid her hospital expenses and sent people to care for her 24 hours a day. The caretakers had the opportunity to talk to Yu Lixin and to learn the truth about Dafa. They sympathized with Yu Lixin and admired her outstanding courage. Some were worried about her, and some convinced the police to temporarily un-cuff her arms from the bed poles. Some bought fruit, food, and nutritional supplements, and asked her to eat them. Although people could not fully understand her actions, they were touched by her uprightness and bigheartedness. Some gave her the "thumbs-up" sign and said, "Yu Lixin is great!"

In July 2000 Yu Lixin was unconditionally released. She left the detention center because of her righteous thoughts and righteous actions.

Telling everyone about her experience

After returning home in August 2000, Yu Lixin went to the No. 1 Division of Jilin City's Police Department. She went to the two police officers in charge of her case and clarified the truth to them. The police said, "Do you know where you are? This is the division in charge of persecuting Falun Gong!" Yu Lixin smiled and said to them, "I risked arrest and came here for no other reason than to help you learn the truth." The police officers were touched by her kindness and did not arrest her. She left the police department with righteous thoughts.

She visited her colleagues and told them about the brutal persecution at the detention center, and she clarified the truth to her family. They realized she was persecuted and was doing the right thing by resisting the persecution. She visited relatives and friends and explained to them how great Falun Dafa is.

In August 2000, using her own money, Yu Lixin printed many truth clarification flyers. One Sunday morning, she and another practitioner who was just released from a labor camp distributed the flyers at the bustling Xiangyang Market in the Chuanying District, Jilin City. She told people who accepted the flyers to read through and cherish the opportunity to learn the truth. When she had one flyer left she said to the other practitioner, "This 'Letter to Police' must be given to a predestined person." It just so happened that a local police officer named Zhang Fuliang and his wife were walking by, and they took the flyer. Because Yu Lixin and the other practitioners were very calm with righteous thoughts, officer Zhang Fuliang left without causing any trouble.

Giving up the attachment to self and helping more practitioners to be diligent

Yu Lixin often organized group meetings to share experiences and to discuss issues with fellow practitioners. She encouraged other practitioners to step forward to uphold Dafa. She also risked arrest and went to the Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp seven times to visit former practitioners who had given up Dafa practice. Every time one of Master's scriptures came out, Yu Lixin memorized it overnight. The next day she would recite or deliver the scripture to the incarcerated practitioners. She encouraged those who had gone astray due to brainwashing and torture to return to their Dafa practice and make up for the blemish they put on Dafa.

Yu Lixin patiently listened and talked to fellow practitioners. She always let them finish, no matter how much they had to say. Once, in order to understand one practitioner who had given up his Dafa practice, she quietly listened to him talking about his understandings and feelings for one day and one night. Then she studied the Fa with him to raise his understanding of Dafa. As she talked to these practitioners, she analyzed the cause for their giving up Dafa practice and helped them find their fundamental attachments. She shared with these practitioners that there are still opportunities to make up for their mistakes. About 80% to 900f the ex-practitioners who talked with Yu Lixin returned to Dafa practice.

One practitioner who obtained the Fa very early in Jilin City didn't have a clear understanding of Fa rectification and practiced on his own. He didn't read articles on Minghui Net [Chinese version of Clearwisdom.net] and didn't step forward to validate the Fa, but he had great influence on the practitioners in the area. After learning of his situation, Yu Lixin and two other practitioners traveled on their bikes over ten miles into the mountains to meet with this practitioner, and it was past 8:00 p.m. when they arrived. They brought articles from Minghui Net and other materials. This practitioner was initially rude and didn't want to talk to them. The two other practitioners who went with Yu Lixin said, "We came all this way to help you, and you are trying to throw us out! Forget it! Let's leave." The atmosphere grew tense. Yu Lixin remained calm and said to this practitioner, "Do you think you can let me finish speaking?" She talked to this practitioner for over three hours. He finally wiped away his confusions and said, "Thank you so much!" They left the articles for this practitioner.

Several days later, this practitioner took more than ten practice site assistants and went to a Fa conference. Many practitioners started to step forward and validate Dafa after the conference.

Stepping forward again to firmly safeguard the Fa

In August 2000, as the persecution escalated, the Jilin Municipal Party Committee and the city police department listed Yu Lixin as the leader of practitioners in the area, and they closely monitored her and tapped her phone. In September 2000, Qu and Zhang, two officers from Division 1 of Jilin City's Police Department, along with two officers from the National Security Bureau broke into Yu Lixin's home. Yu and Zhang talked to Yu Lixin and her husband while the two officers broke into the bedroom, locked the door and installed monitoring devices. Yu Lixin discovered their scheme and confronted the police. She said, "Why are you violating my rights as a citizen?" The police couldn't answer and eventually they mumbled, "We can't help it because our superiors ordered us to do it."

On September 5, 2000, Yu Lixin and three other practitioners went to Beijing to validate Dafa. On September 29, police officers broke into an apartment where Yu Lixin and more than 30 other practitioners were staying. Yu Lixin stood at the door and blocked dozens of police officers who tried to barge in. She clarified the truth to them for over half an hour. Several police officers gagged her, carried her downstairs and put her in a car.

During the time she was illegally held at a police department in Daxing County, Beijing, she refused to give her name. The head of the police department ordered the officers to torture her. Six or seven young police officers beat and kicked Yu Lixin. They tied her to a column, yanked her hair and banged her head against the column. They stabbed her shoulders, knees, elbows, spine, fingertips, jaw, wrists and other parts of her body with needles, and then they burned her hands and body with cigarettes. They ordered her to kneel on the floor and "repent," and Yu Lixin refused. An officer around 30 years of age stood on a bed and jumped at Yu Lixin to kick her knees with his boots. Yu Lixin was not afraid in the least, and she stood there and didn't move while the officer kicked her three or four times. Then this officer took her to a small room and beat her, and ordered female officers to watch her. Yu Lixin grit her teeth and didn't give in, despite the violence.

Re-enactment of officers burning Yu Lixin's hands with needles stuck in them (drawn by another practitioner)

At around 4:00 a.m. the next morning, Yu Lixin left the police department while all the police officers were sleeping. After she left the room she saw a ladder next to a wall in the courtyard. She climbed the ladder and got out of the yard. She went to the home of a practitioner in Beijing. Many of the practitioners barely recognized her. She had wrapped her head with a piece of torn cloth and her body was covered in blood. She had hurt one foot from jumping over the wall and was limping. She kept in touch with many practitioners in Beijing and Jilin City. She picked many of them up at the train station when they went to Beijing and saw them off when they returned to Jilin City. She returned to Jilin City after she recovered.

She spoke with fellow practitioners and encouraged those who stayed home to step forward to validate Dafa. After many discussions, some practitioners went to Beijing and some started distributing flyers. Yu Lixin also helped practitioners who had misinterpreted Dafa and given up the practice, to return to Falun Dafa practice.

Sentenced to five years of imprisonment for making Dafa truth clarification materials

At the end of October 2000, Yu Lixin and another Falun Dafa practitioner, Liu Mingwei, bought a computer and a copier and started making truth clarification flyers. On November 22, personnel from the Jilin City Police Department arrested them. No matter whether it was at the police station or the detention center, Yu Lixin incessantly told people the facts about Falun Dafa. At the Zhihe Street Police Precinct in the Chuanying District of Jilin, the policemen pushed her onto a table and bound her with several ropes encircling her body. She could not move.

On the evening of November 22, the two practitioners were sent to Jilin's No. 1 Detention Center. Yu Lixin started a hunger strike and refused to have a nutrient infusion. Time and again she pulled out the infusion needle. Each time she was forced to have an infusion, several criminals forcibly held her down and pushed the needle in for over two hours. They would not release her until the infusion was over. Even though the criminals tortured her, with her pure, compassionate mind, she still tried to help the criminals realize their good nature. One of the inmates suffered from stroke. Every time she used the toilet, she got the urine and stool outside the urinal. Sometimes she really made a mess in the toilet. Yu Lixin cleaned the toilet every time and helped her to change clothes. Yu Lixin was soon sentenced to a five-year prison term. Liu Minghui was sentenced to three years of imprisonment. Yu Lixin kept telling the judge the true situation of Falun Dafa and how wonderful Falun Dafa is.

On May 31, 2001, Yu Lixin and Liu Mingwei were handcuffed and shackled together and taken to the Heizuizi Women's Prison in Jilin Province where they continued their hunger strike. The police in the prison bound them to the "Dead Person's Bed." (1) Yu Lixin kept clarifying the truth about Dafa to those who came to check on them. She went on a hunger strike to protest the sentence and requested an appeal. The guards pulled her body into four directions with ropes around the clock for two days. She was also subjected to brutal force-feeding during those two days. The police force-fed her with brine and highly salted corn porridge. On the third day in the prison, Yu Lixin's heartbeat was only 38 beats per minute, so she was sent to the Public Security Hospital in Jilin Province.

The doctors in the hospital forcibly subjected her to an infusion, but Yu Lixin strongly resisted. If they injected her left hand, she pulled the needle out with her right hand. When they injected her right hand, she pulled out the needle with her left hand. The guards bound her hands to the bed with handcuffs and ropes, but she struggled out of the confinement quickly and continued to pull out the needles. The police tried to tie her to the bed again and again, but she struggled to get out of it again and again. The doctors then tried to inject her foot when her hands were bound with rope and handcuffs. They put a needle in one of her feet and bound her other foot with rope and cuffed her. Yu Lixin stayed on her first hunger strike continuously for 28 days, and the second hunger strike for over 30 days. Guards force-fed her by inserting a tube through her nostrils into her stomach. Each time they pulled out the tube it was stained with blood.

Yu Lixin's third hunger strike lasted for four months. At the beginning, the police forbade her from getting out of bed, because as soon as she got up she would practice the exercises. They tied Yu Lixin to the bed with rope and handcuffs and forcibly injected and force-fed her. Yu Lixin was forbidden from using the toilet, and she had to urinate on the bed. The police laughed at her. Later, they even forbade her from using the toilet when she wanted to defecate. It happened to be summer time and the bed smelled very bad. In addition, the force-feeding left corn porridge all over her face. Yu Lixin could not wash. Flies came and landed on her face; however, Yu Lixin could not move at all. As time went by, it smelled even worse. It was not until then that the guards moved Yu Lixin and her bed into the hallway. Three layers of bedding underneath her were stained. Urine and stool extended from her hips to the back, from her shoulders to the neck. Urine was all over behind her head. Her whole body was immersed in the excrement.

During that time, the police tried to use a bladder catheter when Yu Lixin was restricted onto the bed. It didn't work because the tubing was very thick. When they tried to insert the tubing in a brutal manner, Yu Lixin suffered a lot of pain. As a result, she could not control her bowel movement. Thus, she was immersed in the excrement for two months. Later, higher-ranking leaders came to inspect the hospital, and the hospital staff had to remove the three layers of bedding which were severely stained. They ordered Yu Lixin's fellow practitioners to help Yu with toileting.

After Yu Lixin was sent back to the Women's Prison, she was allowed to get off the bed. The purpose was to allow her to digest food. Half an hour later, the police bound her to a wooden chair with ropes and restricted her movements in an attempt to prevent her from spitting out the food during force-feeding. It didn't work, so they bound Yu Lixin to a bed again. Then they used a big dental tool to forcibly open her mouth widely, blindfolded her, and used a spoon to force feed her. The spoon was also used to prevent her from breathing so that the food could get in. Yu Lixin strongly resisted the force-feeding. She didn't swallow anything. She held her breath. As soon as the spoon was removed, she spit out the food with all her strength. The food burst out onto everything -- Yu Lixin's face, hair, the force-feeder's body, and the bed. They could not force-feed her much food in one day. Then, the police put the big dental tool in her mouth 24 hours a day. When it was removed, Yu Lixin could not close her mouth. The police threatened her, "If you go on a hunger strike for one day, we will force-feed you for one day. You continue for one year, we will force feed you for one year. You continue for five years, we will force feed you for five years!"

Because Yu Lixin could not move, she decided to yell out to validate Dafa and let everyone know she didn't do anything wrong. She hoped everyone who could hear her might get to know Dafa, to know how she was persecuted so as to expose the evildoers. When a prison supervisor heard what she was yelling, she wept twice. Whenever Yu Lixin heard footsteps outside, she started to yell out, to tell people the truth about Dafa.

After getting out of the prison with righteous thoughts, the police kept harassing her family

On September 21, 2001, Yu Lixin was sent to a hospital for treatment. When she got home, her weight was reduced to only 90 pounds. On October 8, 2001, Wu Zeyun, the prison's deputy warden Li Jian, the deputy department head of the administrative section of the prison, and several other policemen went to Yu Lixin's brother's home to harass his family. They didn't find Yu Lixin. That same night, Li Jian called Yu Lixin's home phone number and asked her about her health.

On the morning of October 9 at 7:50 a.m., Wu Zeyun, Li Jian, and several policemen went to Ms. Yu's place, trying to arrest her again, but she was not at home. The police interrogated her mother and mother-in-law, and forced the two elderly women to go out and look for her. Another policeman whose family name was Li was waiting outside the building. A police van was parked beside him. There were several policemen in the van. The two elderly women didn't find Yu Lixin. The police forced her mother to write down all of Ms. Yu's whereabouts in those days.

In less than a month, the police went to Yu Lixin's brother's place again, trying to capture her. The police searched every room. At that time, Qu Zhuohui, Ms. Yu's sister-in-law, was asleep after a night shift at work. She woke up from the noise the police made. They searched several rooms and didn't find Yu Lixin. When they left they duped her brother by saying, "We just dropped by to take a look."

Twenty days later, prison guards broke into her brother's place for the third time. They didn't find Ms. Yu. Then they asked her parents and brother to tell them all of her relatives addresses. Ms. Yu's mother refused with stern words. The police also went to Yu Ze's (Yu Lixin's brother) workplace to harass him. Yu Ze's supervisor spoke with him and asked him about his sister's situation. Yu Ze told them that his sister was a good person, that she cultivated herself in accordance with "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance," and that she had changed tremendously for the better after she started to cultivate Falun Dafa. Not only had she become very healthy, she was awarded "good worker" status at her workplace every year. The police didn't find any clues at Yu Ze's work unit. Later they lured Yu's father, Yu Yongshen, to show up at the Sima Road Police Station for interrogation. They were aided and abetted by their accomplice, Zhang, a police officer from the Sima Road Police Station.

In November 2001, Wu Zeyun, Li Jian and others went to Yu Lixin's apartment for the second time. The police searched every room and even opened the wardrobes to check. When they failed to find Ms. Yu, they told her family hypocritically, "We came to check whether she has recovered or not. If she needs money, we would give it to her for medical care." They left the prison phone number and threatened Yu Lixin's mother-in-law, "As soon as Yu Lixin comes back home, report to us immediately. Otherwise, we will arrest you as well!"

Keep on studying Dafa. Maintain a compassionate heart toward others

As soon as Yu Lixin escaped from the prison and returned she didn't take a break. She slept for only four to five hours a day, studied the Fa during the day and read Minghui articles day and night. Many fellow practitioners and her colleagues came to visit her and spoke with her. Some offered to give her some money. She always gratefully declined. If she couldn't refuse, she would use the money to make truth clarification materials. Although she had financial difficulty in her daily life, she would not use a penny from others for herself. She looked very healthy and energetic, with fair skin and rosy cheeks. It was hard to imagine she just got out of prison and had been on hunger strike for a long time. Dafa's extraordinary power was manifest through her.

When Ms. Yu was at the truth clarification production site, she was even stricter with herself. Because the money came from fellow practitioners, she ate plain food to save money as well as to save time. Every night she went out to post truth clarification material. She was always strict with herself and never lowered the requirements for herself because she was involved in truth-clarifying materials preparation. In early 2002, when time allowed, she sent forth righteous thoughts at the top of each hour.

Once during a Fa study and sharing, Ms. Yu said, "I don't want to be arrested again. No more!" Fellow practitioners felt it wasn't quite right, but didn't pay much attention, not to mention raising the issue with her that it was not a righteous thought. Master told us,

"If you are not afraid, the factor that would make you afraid will cease to exist." ("Eliminate Your Last Attachment(s)", Essentials for Further Advancement II)

Before the 2000 Spring Festival, the police again ordered her arrest. Although exposing herself to the great danger of being arrested, she went to the Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp in Changchun to give Master's new article to her husband. After the Spring Festival she went to visit her husband a second time to tell him the Fa rectification situation everywhere. She encouraged her husband to continue to cultivate. She even recited Master's new articles in front of the police. Before she left, she made the Heshi to her husband with a smile in front of many people. It was the last time the husband and wife saw each other.

The police harassed Ms. Yu's family even when she was dying

Jilin City offered a 50,000 yuan reward for the capture of Yu Lixin. On March 5, 2002, she was arrested again. The three policemen who arrested her each received 5,000 yuan cash reward.

This arrest on March 5, 2002 was carried out by the police from Lianhua Police Station in the Changyi District of Jilin City. They had been hiding and waiting around her home. She was sent to the Zhihe Police Station in Chuanying District, Jilin City. Later she was imprisoned at the Fourth Brigade, at the Chuanying Police Department. She was subjected to the torture methods called the "Big Hang Up" (2) and the "Tiger Bench." Then she was sent to Jilin City's No. 1 Detention Center.

Yu Lixin went on hunger strike and refrained from drinking fluids to resist the persecution. On March 8, she was sent to Heizuizi Prison again. She continued her hunger strike to resist the persecution. When her life was in danger, the prison hospital authorities feared that they would be held responsible for her death, so they transferred her to the Bethune Hospital in Changchun. The prison staff called Ms. Yu's family several times and told her family members to go to Changchun and take care of her in the hospital. However, they didn't allow her mother to go, because her mother is also a Falun Dafa practitioner.

On April 7, Yu Lixin's father and brother went to the hospital to visit her. That day, there was a sandstorm that covered the sky and the ground. Buses stopped service, and they had to take a train to the hospital. When they arrived, her father discovered that Yu Lixin was dying and urged Ms. Yu's mother to rush to the hospital. Her life was in danger, however, her hands and feet were bound to the bed even at this critical moment. A male and a female police officer and two criminals were there as guards. When Ms. Yu regained consciousness, she told her mother that as soon as she moved just a little bit, the criminal would slap her. The prison hospital doctors injected her with nerve-damaging drugs. Each time they injected the drug, they cut open a vein on her foot. Her mother saw a one-inch long scar on her foot. Yu's mother, brother and daughter didn't have a place to sit down when they took care of her at the hospital. Her eight-year-old daughter had not seen her for a long time. But she didn't dare to come close to her because the tragic scene scared her. Ms. Yu's mother took care of her dying daughter for only one day. The police drove her family members away and transferred her to Public Security Hospital in Jilin Province as soon as Ms. Yu recovered a little. They didn't allow her family to take care of her, even though she was dying.

Ms. Yu's family was heart-broken and extremely worried. Her mother and brother feared that she could be tortured to death and begged policeman Li Jian to allow family members to take care of her. Li Jian tried to stall them and told them, "You can write a letter to the Administrative Bureau of Prisons in Jilin Province for approval." Ms. Yu's father immediately wrote such a letter. It was not until ten days later that the staff from the bureau replied to their letter.

The prison police called Ms. Yu's family, ordering them to help "reform" her. By then, Yu Lixin had been sent back to the Heizuizi Prison Hospital. When Yu's mother and mother-in-law saw her again, she was tied up with both hands stretched upward toward the ceiling, and her feet were tied to a bed. She was also being given injections of unknown drugs. The police made arrangements for the two elderly women to live outside the prison in an empty house in extremely terrible condition. There was no water and no electricity. Every morning when the police went to work, the two elderly women followed them into the prison hospital. When they were off duty, the two women followed them to go out. When they were inside the prison hospital, the police strictly monitored them, the same way they treat criminals. Even when they went to eat they could not go together. Their health could not withstand such suffering. They often got colds or fevers and had to go back home.

On May 10, 2002, the prison police called the family again and told them that Yu Lixin was severely ill and was transferred to the Bethune Hospital. They asked the family members to go to the hospital. Ms. Yu's family rushed to the hospital, only to find Yu Lixin crouched in a small cart in the hallway on the third floor, unconscious. It took them a long time to arrange for her hospitalization. Yu Lixin was reduced to a skeleton and remained unconscious. The two elderly women waited by her bed for three days and didn't dare to leave. Medication didn't have any effect. On May 13, at 10:20 in the morning, after 66 days of painful suffering, Yu Lixin died as a result of torture inflicted by Heizuizi Prison personnel.

In order to fabricate lies, the police broke into the ward to take pictures of Yu Lixin's body. Yu Lixin's mother had seen enough of their wicked tricks and went all out to resist the police. The policemen had to stop.

Soon, Yu Lixin's body was wrapped in a piece of cloth and taken away. The police forced Yu's mother and mother-in-law into a police van and sent them to the Heizuizi Prison office. They were forced to sign the cremation application form. When Ms. Yu's family members asked to change Yu Lixin's clothes, they found that Yu's body had not been sent to hospital reposing room. Rather, her body was directly sent to the prison, because the police wanted to save money and cover up their crime. Her body was placed in an empty room. She was unclothed for that entire night and was only covered by a piece of white bedding sheet. On May 14, at 8 o'clock in the morning, the prison used three police vans and seven policemen as an escort for Ms. Yu's family to take her body to the crematorium for unauthorized cremation. A police officer forged Ms. Yu's death certificate. He signed a non-existing family member's name, "Cui Fuqin."

After cremation, Yu Lixin's mother-in-law went back to her original dwelling in Jilin City. Before she opened the door, she was met by Jiang Quan, Jilin City's political chief from the Zhihe Police Station and local police officer Zhang Fuliang, who had been waiting for her at her doorway. The policemen interrogated Yu's mother-in-law, "Who was present at Yu Lixin's cremation? Did any Falun Gong practitioners go to the crematorium?" Yu Lixin's mother-in-law denounced them bitterly. The police left because they themselves knew they were doing wrong.

The police forged a family member's signature. Yu Lixin had no relative whose name was "Cui Fuqin."

Details about the persecution of Liu Hongwei

Liu Hongwei started practicing Falun Gong in August 1998. On July 19, 1999, Liu traveled to Beijing to tell the government of Falun Gong's benefits and returned home safely.

On September 6, 1999 he again went to Beijing to petition for Falun Gong and was arrested. On October 11, police from Jilin City took him back to his hometown. Jilin City newspapers and radio stations falsely claimed that Mr. Liu and his wife Ms. Yu were leaders of Falun Gong. After three days in a police station, Mr. Liu was transferred to Jilin City's Number Three Detention Center where he spent the next 42 days.

In June 2000, Mr. Liu was unlawfully arrested again during a conversation with other practitioners at Meihekou, Jilin Province. After 28 days of detention, police failed to produce any evidence and released him without charging him.

On September 6, 2000, Liu Hongwei went to Beijing for the third time. He was arrested in Daxing County, Beijing. After spending over 20 days in Daxing County's Police Station, he was sent to the Zhihe Police Station in the Chuanying District in Jilin City in October. Later, police chief Jiang Quan and Zhang Fuliang from Zhihe Station forced him to accompany them to the Number Four Criminal Police Team in the Chuanying Police headquarters. The police handcuffed Mr. Liu to a metal chair for 17 hours. He wore scant clothing and the weather was cold. They interrogated him using violence. Later yet he was detained at Jilin's Number 3 Detention Center for a month before being sentenced to two years of forced labor. He served his sentence in the Huanxiling Forced Labor Camp in Jilin City.

While in Division No. 4 at the Huanxiling Labor Camp, Liu Hongwei persisted in following the principles of Falun Gong. One time he and other practitioners did the Falun Gong exercises together. Guard team leader Yu Wenzhi, guard Zhao and two other guards brutally beat him. Despite such harsh treatment, Mr. Liu and fellow practitioners demanded their unconditional release without delay. To punish their defiance, police locked them up in small cells for seven days.

On March 27, 2001, Liu Hongwei was transferred to the Tonghua Forced Labor Camp. There he resisted the evil persecution using righteous thoughts, and refused to do slave labor. He also motivated the practitioners who compromised with the evildoers to change themselves and correct their errors.

On December 24, 2001, Liu Hongwei was transferred to the Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp in Changchun City. He stayed in Division One and later in Division Three. During this time he was subjected a violent torture called "Tough Battle" twice. Policeman Li Jun shocked his anus with electric batons and beat him with a heavy wooden club. He was also subjected to other long-term physical abuses and mental torments. After his term expired, police held him 50 days beyond his term, and then finally had to let him go.

Once home, Liu Hongwei immediately joined in the effort with fellow practitioners to clarify the truth and offer people salvation.

On September 16, 2003, police again abducted Liu Hongwei. The perpetrators were officers named Sun Zhuang, Liu Guoping, Tang Aijun, and Guo Qiang from Jilin City's 610 Office, from the National Security Branch, and from Yunheli Station, Changyi Police Precinct. Chief Wang Jiali, policemen Guo Qiang, and Liu Yuhe at the Yunheli Station tortured him extremely violently. He was injured so severely that he was near death. Police sent him to Jilin City Hospital for emergency treatment. Three days later Liu Hongwei escaped from the hospital. He is presently still in hiding to avoid arrest.

Notes:

(1) Dead Person's Bed - The four limbs of the practitioner are stretched out and tied to the four corners of an icy-cold metal bed. The practitioner cannot move at all. Neither is he allowed to get up to eat, drink, or use the bathroom. This treatment would last from several hours up to more than a dozen days. This type of cruel torture causes severe damage to the practitioner both mentally and physically.

(2) Big Hang Up - There are two forms in this torture: (1) With both hands cuffed behind the back and only toes touching the ground, one is hung by a rope that is tied to the metal window frames. (2) One hand of a practitioner is cuffed to one bunk bed and the other hand to another bed, and the two beds are pulled in the opposite directions. One feels extremely painful as the body is pulled.
