Practitioner Niu Minjie Paralyzed due to Torture at Mancheng Women's Prison in Hebei Province

November 09, 2004 |   By a practitioner in China

(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Niu Minjie, 43 years old, lived in Shijiazhuang City and was a coach for the Hebei Province Model Competition. She was a very kind and beautiful woman. In 2002, because she financially supported several persecuted practitioners, she was taken to the Xushui County Jail. She suffered physical and mental torture. The police shackled both her hands and feet together for months, causing her muscles to atrophy in both legs and she lost the ability to walk. In 2003, the detention center staff collaborated with the Xushui County Court, giving Niu Minjie an eight-year sentence. Ms. Niu's appeal in the Baodin Middle Court was rejected.

Niu Minjie is now jailed in the Mancheng Women's Prison. Her health is currently quite poor. She once began severely twitching and went unconscious. Both her legs are now completely paralyzed, and she can no longer take care of herself. Her family members requested that she be released on bail to receive medical treatment. The request was refused, with no other excuse than she is a Falun Gong practitioner. Ms. Niu's current health status completely meets the legal requirement for a medical release on bail. However, the Hebei Province "610 Office" issued a document stating that all Falun Gong practitioners "except those who are in life-threatening conditions, cannot be released on bail for medical treatment."

Practitioner Ms. Bai Caiping, also from Shijiazhuang City, has been sentenced to a year in prison. Practitioner Ms. Yu Jingxia and Ms. Yi Juncai have been sentenced to 10 years in prison. Du Yanfang has been sentenced to 7 years in prison.
