Switzerland: Clarifying the Facts at the Chinese Consulate in Zürich After the Death of Liu Chengjun (Photos)

January 14, 2004 |

After hearing that Changchun practitioner Mr. Liu Chengjun was persecuted to death by Jiang's regime, Swiss Dafa practitioners gathered at the Chinese Consulate on December the 30th 2003 to mourn his death and appeal for his murderers to be brought to justice.

Liu Chengjun was involved in broadcasting videos that exposed the Jiang regime's slanderous lies against Falun Gong over Changchun's cable TV network on March the 5th 2002. After this important event, many practitioners were arrested and severely beaten. Liu Chengjun passed away in Jilin University's Sino-Japan Friendship Hospital at 4:00am on December the 26th 2003 after suffering horrific brutality in prison for twenty-one months. On the same day, police cremated his body against his family's wishes and without an autopsy. Eyewitnesses discovered blood pouring from Liu's nostrils, ears and thighs.

Practitioners erected three banners reading "Appeal for Punishment of the Instigators who Murdered Liu Chengjun, "Global Coalition: Bring Jiang Zemin to Justice and "Falun Gong: Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance.

During the peaceful demonstration, practitioners received many kind responses from Swiss people. Two elderly ladies happily accepted leaflets about the murder of Liu Chengjun, and one of them talked with practitioners to find out more. Another elderly gentleman who had read Falun Gong leaflets before, talked to practitioners for a long time after hearing about Liu's tragic death. He mentioned that many shops are filled with cheap Chinese-made products in Switzerland and that a practitioner told him about that many of these products are made in Chinese labour camps where Falun Gong practitioners are illegally detained, forced to work long hours without pay and frequently beaten. The gentleman expressed great sympathy for their suffering and wished the practitioners luck for the future. One young gentleman passed by and when asked if he would like to sign the petition for Falun Gong practitioners' human rights in China, he happily agreed. Practitioners could not find a pen and so the young man said that he would go home to fetch one. Later he came back and signed the petition. Another gentleman told practitioners that what they are doing is worthwhile and courageous.

The evil in other dimensions greatly fears the banners. Two plainclothes policemen approached practitioners and asked: How long are you going to stay here? Practitioners replied that they would be there "up to ten minutes past five. The policemen said that "someone telephoned us saying that you are holding a demonstration here, you need permission for this. Practitioners replied: "We are sorry. We only learned about the tragic death of Mr Liu Chengjun yesterday and we did not have time to apply for a permit. Would it be possible for you to provide us with the telephone number of the application department? The policemen wrote down the phone number for practitioners and said, "It may be too later to apply for permission because of the holiday. You can apply for permission after the 5th of January, and then come here again." A practitioner told the policemen how police in China arrest good people and they replied, "Yes. We know Falun Gong practitioners are good people." Practitioners continued to clarify about Falun Gong, the murder of Liu Chengjun and gave them some leaflets. The policemen said that they were aware of the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China and left practitioners without disturbing them.

Around five o'clock, the policemen came again and said that someone had called them again and kindly told the practitioners that they had to finish their activities. Practitioners told them that the people were wrong to call them because Jiang has applied a lot of pressure on people, they are very afraid. Jiang has done many evil things in China. Practitioners are here to expose the evil deeds by use of peaceful means. The policemen smiled back and said: Yes, you are doing a good thing and left.
