[Chongqing City] An Article Posted on the Chongqing University Campus Exposes the Rape of Wei Xingyan
On the evening of July 24, 2003, on the bulletin board and public posting areas of Chongqing University, an article written in the name of the teaching staff of Chongqing University was posted. The article exposed the rape of Wei Xingyan, a female graduate student and a Falun Gong practitioner. The article questioned the school board for not protecting the basic personal rights of a student. Why did the school keep silent about the case and try to cover it up?
On the same evening, a VCD with information about the lawsuits against Jiang Zemin and "610 Office"* could be found by the door of each household of the residential buildings of the No.1 Intermediate People's Court and the Higher People's Court in Chongqing City.
*The 610 Office is an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political or judicial systems.
[Shanghai City] Falun Dafa Practitioner Xie Ge Tortured in the Tuanhe Forced Labor Camp
Xie Ge was illegally detained and tortured for over a year in the "Beijing Legal Training Center", which is actually a brainwashing center. Currently, he is being illegally detained in the Tuanhe Forced Labor Camp in Beijing. When he was transferred to the Tuanhe Forced Labor Camp, he was extremely weak. In his twenties, he used to be a bit overweight and very strong. However, after one year of inhumane torture in the "Beijing Legal Training Center", he has become emaciated and weighs around only 80 pounds. His heart is also severely damaged. In the forced labor camp, he had a heart attack on several occasions while being forcibly brainwashed. Each time his life was in danger, the police drove him to the hospital for emergency treatment. However, after he recovered, he was brought back to the forced labor camp and again subjected to torture. Xie Ge's health is seriously damaged, and he is on the brink of death.

Twenty Falun Dafa practitioners are being held in the Hongweixing Prison. Protesting against the persecution, they don't wear the prison garb. Their family members are not allowed to visit them. They are not allowed to step outside of their cells to speak with either criminal prisoners or Dafa practitioners. Criminal prisoners are slapped on the face if they are seen talking with Dafa practitioners.
[Southwest China] 85-year-old Woman Explains the Truth and Uses Her Righteous Thoughts to Resist Persecution
Grandma Xiao from a city in Southwest China is 85 years old. She often steps forward to clarify the truth. The local police substation detained her for three days. In the police substation, Grandma Xiao kept explaining the truth of Falun Dafa. A policeman asked her not to explain it to others. She answered, "Such a great Fa! It is a good thing to save people and help more people benefit from it. Why shouldn't I tell others?" Some policemen tried to coerce her into writing the so-called "statement of guarantee", and she refused resolutely by saying, "I don't know how to write." The policemen grabbed her hand and forcibly wrote down her name on a prepared "statement of guarantee". She scolded them angrily, "What are you doing? You are committing a crime!" The police had to release her without knowing what else to do. She is continuing to clarify the truth of Falun Dafa to people around her.
[Beijing City] Practitioner Liu Shuyin Is Illegally Arrested
Liu Shuyin is a Falun Dafa practitioner from Sanyuanli of Chaoyang District, Beijing. She was illegally arrested while distributing truth-clarifying materials. According to witnesses in the neighborhood, she was arrested on around June 23 or June 24.

According to a source within the Public Security Bureau, several million Yuan is to be invested on a detection and control system to be placed on Internet terminals in Shijiazhuang City. The purpose is to filter and block Internet traffic in the city, and control emails, file transfers, cellular phone text messages, and all Internet-related computer activities. The detection system is to be used to obtain and locate information to persecute Falun Gong.
[Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Practitioner Li Ruzhen Is Tortured in Detention
Li Ruzhen is being subjected to inhumane torture after being arrested. When her son saw that she was on the verge of death from torture, he said angrily to the police, "If you ask me to pick up her funeral urn in the end, we will meet in court!" Frightened, the police released her the next day and returned the utility fee that they deducted.

Li Juan, Deputy Party Secretary of the Health Bureau in Huanren County was illegally sentenced to jail for distributing truth-clarifying materials. After that, the Political & Judiciary Committee and "610 Office" have frenziedly persecuted Falun Dafa practitioners working in the Party and executive offices. They investigated and recorded the names of Falun Dafa practitioners office by office. The head of the "610 Office" would speak with the practitioners whose names were reported by their working unit. They regulated so-called six criteria, among which are: first, make sure to slander Falun Dafa; second, make sure to defame the founder of Falun Dafa. If the two criteria were not met, they would regard the practitioner as "not completely transformed". If practitioners say, "Falun Dafa is good!" in front of them, or validate Dafa instead of defaming Dafa and the Teacher, they would send these practitioners directly to a detention center.
Currently five practitioners from the Tax Bureau of Linghe District, Education Bureau and Health Bureau have been illegally sent to detention center. It has been heard that four of them will be sent to forced labor camp and one of them will be illegally sentenced to jail. The Political & Judiciary Committee and "610 Office" also forced a neighborhood committee to urge two Party members who had practiced Falun Gong to write down their attitudes towards Falun Gong. Otherwise, they will be dismissed from the Party and their work posts.

In July, some people from the Education Committee of Xinzhou District, Wuhan City, arrested Mr. Zhang Chengyue, an employee of the Xinzhou educational system, and sent him to brainwashing class.
[Luyang Town, Henan Province] Practitioner Liu An on Hunger Strike
Liu An was turned in and arrested while distributing truth-clarifying materials in July. He is being detained in the Nandayuan Detention Center. He is on a hunger strike, protesting against the detention. Several policemen force-feed him every day.

[Huludao City, Liaoning Province] The "610 Office" Illegally Detains Falun Dafa Practitioners in a Brainwashing Center
Recently, the "610 Office" at the Xincheng District is again holding brainwashing classes. On July 29, Falun Dafa practitioners from the Gangtun Town of Lianshan District including Mr. Zhao Lianyuan, Mr. Liu Yan, Ms. Gu Fengli, and Ms. Wang Shujie were arrested and sent to the brainwashing class. On the same day, practitioner Ling Wanxia was forcibly taken away by police from the Xinggong Street Police Substation in Lianshan District. The next day, she was also sent to the brainwashing class. More persecution cases are in the process of being confirmed.
