Malicious Propaganda Inside the Chinese Consulate in Toronto, Canada

July 27, 2003 |   By a Dafa Practitioner in North America

(Clearwisdom.net)

I went to the Chinese consulate in Toronto, Canada to renew my passport. There were a dozen people standing in the line at the visa office. I noticed all of them were looking at some bloody and horrifying pictures that were posted on the wall to my right. The captions next to the pictures said that these were Falun Gong practitioners committing murder or suicide, etc.

A middle-aged woman in front of me turned around and asked in a whisper, "Do you think what the pictures show are true?" I told her, "I am a Falun Gong practitioner. Do I look like any of those people shown in the pictures?"

"Oh, you practice Falun Gong?" she was a little surprised.

"Yeah."

"I heard Falun Gong doesn't let people take medicine, is it true?"

"Falun Gong never prohibits people from taking medicine," I said. "The book only talks about a principle of cultivation. If a person is sick, he or she should go to the hospital immediately; but a real cultivation practice can cleanse the practitioner's body. A person who is physically fit naturally doesn't take medicine. If Falun Gong was really anything like the propaganda suggests, why do so many people in China practice it, and why has Falun Gong spread all over the world?"

People around me were all looking at me now. One person asked, "On the wall, there is a citation from a Falun Gong book, it says to practice Falun Gong, one needs to get rid of sentimentality, is it true?"

I nodded, "That sentence is indeed from Falun Gong's book, Zhuan Falun, but what they are doing here is quoting the words out of context. Falun Gong asks practitioners to have higher moral standards, to always think of others first, and to be compassionate towards others. It is called 'benevolence' in the Buddha school. It encapsulates a much broader, deeper, and selfless spiritual meaning. What is given up is the selfish 'sentimentality,' which makes people think only of themselves."

Another person whispered, "What about those people who became psychotic after practicing Falun Gong?"

"First of all, whether those mental problems were indeed caused by practicing Falun Gong cannot be proven," I said. "The persecution of Falun Gong is so horrible in China. Many healthy people are locked up in mental institutes, and many are tortured to death. How could those who persecute Falun Gong practitioners not look for ways to cover up their evil deeds?" The man pondered my answer without a word.

"There are over 100 million people practicing Falun Gong around the world, why are there no similar news reports like these, outside of China? You live in Toronto so you must be aware that many people here practice Falun Gong. Suppose there such an incident occurred here. Wouldn't you think it would be reported in the news? Even the self-immolation in Tiananmen Square was proven to be a fake. It's too easy to fabricate those pictures. I hope everyone will get a truth-clarifying flyer outside the Consulate, there are a lot of facts contained in it."

A few hundred people come into the Chinese consulate everyday. The hatred and lies from those pictures has spread poison to so many unaware victims. I hope all people from different walks of life can help end this crime in Toronto. Let's stop the cruel dictator, who has murdered so many innocent Chinese people, from exporting his slanderous propaganda to the people of Canada.
