Thoughts on the April 25th Anniversary

The following is an excerpt from article the "The Rationality and Necessity of the 'April 25 Peaceful Appeal.'"

The fundamental reason of the April 25th Appeal was because Falun Gong had been maligned by the state media for three years, Falun Gong materials had been blocked from being published, Falun Gong practitioners had been constantly harassed by the government, and there was no place where Falun Gong practitioners could speak out. At that time, in order to have those arrested Tianjin practitioners released, Falun Gong practitioners had only one way to go, and that was to appeal in Beijing, directly reporting the mistreatment to the central government. Through the April 25th Appeal we saw the spirit of human rights come alive inside the Chinese citizens, through their rationality, tolerance, and brave hearts as they dared to stand up to tell the facts to the government.

Facts of the Persecution

Falun Dafa practitioner Liang Su-e in Jimo City, Shandong Province went to Beijing three times to appeal for Dafa, and was illegally detained. She was beaten until she vomited blood, her face turned blue, and she was disabled. She had 1,600 Yuan [more than three months average salary for an urban worker]. She was detained in the Dashan Detention Center in Qingdao City, Shandong Province because she passed out truth-clarifying flyers. She went on hunger strike for eight days to protest, and endured numerous types of torture. The evil had to release her because she appeared to have "heart disease" symptoms. But the city's "610 Office" [an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems] locked her in the Town Police Station, so she went on hunger strike for another five days to protest, and finally was allowed to go home. She was unjustly sentenced to four years in prison in August 2002, and was sent to the Jinan Women's Prison.

Police in the Xinhua Labor Camp in Mianyang City, Sichuan Province used multiple forms of cruel torture methods against Falun Dafa practitioners, such as forcing practitioners to do heavy, dangerous work in the heat, often beyond the limits of normal endurance. Falun Dafa practitioners are doing this kind of labor everyday, year after year, plus there is physical and mental torture, such as continual forced brainwashing from many people all at once, and 24 hours of close monitoring, even when using the toilet or sleeping.

Policemen Wei Dong and He Bo, as well as others in the Lanzhou City Police Station of Gansu province shocked Falun Dafa practitioners and tightened their handcuffs. They cuffed Dafa disciples onto mental stools, and shocked them with high voltage electricity once every minute. They made a set of handcuffs and ankle shackles that have screws and nuts protruding on the inside, where they would jab against the practitioners' wrists. These torture devices can put practitioners through unbearable pain and cause serious injury.

Falun Dafa practitioner in Linyi County, Shandong Province Song Yulong was unjustly detained in the Linyi Detention Center and Mental Hospital, and went through brutal force-feeding. He was also forced to take nerve-damaging drugs and subjected to electric shock. Later he was sentenced to three years of labor camp and endured numerous forms of cruel torture in the Wangcun Labor Camp in Zibo City, Shandong Province. His fiancée Wang Mingyan is also a Falun Dafa practitioner, and was arrested in November 2001 in Lu'nan County, Shandong Province. She was later sentenced to a labor camp, and was then let out on parole for medical reasons. Such a young couple looking forward to marriage has had to stay in jail because of the Jiang regime's persecution.

In August 2001, police from Lu'nan County, Shandong Province arrested Falun Dafa practitioner Li Guixiang without any reason. Li Guixiang went on hunger strike to protest the illegal detention. After more than twenty days, police escorted her home and sent six to seven people to monitor her at her home 24 hours a day. Li was forced to become destitute and homeless in order to avoid being unjustly arrested at home. Later she was arrested, and tortured mentally and physically. Police even arrested her non-practitioner husband, her daughter and her two sons. On February 27, 2003, police from the Lu'nan County "610 Office" arrested her and her husband at their home. Currently, no one knows where she is.

Lawless official Cheng Junbo in Kaifeng City Labor Camp used cruel means to torture Falun Dafa practitioners. Under his encouragement and guidance, police in the labor camp forced prisoners to beat and kick Falun Dafa practitioners while they were hanging high in the air from their tied hands. They used sticks to beat them or cigarette lighters to burn them. They put Dafa practitioners under the baking sun in the summer, poured cold water onto their stripped naked bodies in the winter, then blew them dry with an electric fan. They forced open Falun Dafa practitioners' mouths, and then spit into them. They even stuffed the opening of water bottles inside practitioners' anuses, and then squeezed water in...

Police in the Nanmusi Women's Labor Camp in Sichuan Province ordered drug addicts to torture Falun Dafa practitioners. Some Falun Dafa practitioners have had their skin burnt from electric baton shocks, forming blood blisters all over their faces. Some have passed out from electric shocks. Some have had fractured ribs, and the list goes on and on.

The police in the Shandong Provincial Labor Camp cruelly tortured Falun Dafa practitioners, and invited other provincial brainwashing class representatives to give lectures and spread lies to deceive people. They took turns torturing the practitioners, hoping to wear them down. They cursed or beat Falun Dafa practitioners whenever they felt like it, they shocked practitioners with electric batons for long periods of time. Practitioners were cuffed and hung up, forced to sit up straight for long periods of time, not allowed to move, forced to hold a piece of paper in between their legs and then hold something on top of their heads, or forced to face the wall. They hit practitioners' heads with benches, tied up their legs in the double lotus position, deprived them of sleep for long periods of time, and prohibited them from using the toilet. The torture is relentless.

On December 18, 2002, police at the Shaocunzhuang Police Station in Qingdao City, Shandong Province unjustly arrested Falun Dafa practitioner Dong Qiaoyun. They sent her to Qingdao Detention Center for forced brainwashing for one month. They then planned to send her to the Wangcun Labor Camp in Zibo City, Shandong Province and sentence her to three years of labor camp. Because of her physical condition, they could only extort money from her, and then let her out on parole. On March 9, 2003, Dong Qiaoyun was again arrested and sent to the Zibo Labor Camp. Another Falun Dafa practitioner Lu Cuilian was arrested by the police many times, and she had to become homeless in order to avoid further persecution.

Lawless officials in a steel factory in Chengdu City, Sichuan Province conducted all sorts of persecution towards steadfastly cultivating Falun Dafa practitioners, such as brainwashing, and 24 hours of close monitoring. They also teamed up with "610 Office" police stations in Qingbaijiang District and illegally detained Dafa practitioners, sending Dafa practitioners to brainwashing classes or labor camp. All steadfastly cultivating Falun Dafa practitioners have been dismissed from their employment. For those retired employees who keep cultivating Falun Dafa, they only pay them a small amount to live on or they do not give them any retirement pay.

Forum on Current Affairs

The following is an excerpt from the article "Dig Out the Main Cause of the Spread of SARS: Jiang Zemin."

The most common excuse for Jiang to remain in the position of military leader is the need for "stability." His power can be used on unarmed citizens and can be used to seal off information about SARS, but it cannot deal with SARS itself. Jiang could not eliminate SARS when it was just starting, but he blocked people from controlling SARS in its early stages. Now SARS is harming people all over the world, and Jiang must bear responsibility for it.
