Ms. Wang Li, a Falun Dafa practitioner from Wuhan City, was once recognized as one of the "Ten Most Outstanding Youths in Wuhan City." She was also a reporter for China Woman's Newspaper in Wuhan City Station. Early in September 2003, some policemen arrested Ms Li. The police used the charge of "distributing Falun Gong flyers" and illegally detained her for one month. Recently, using the same charge again, the police sentenced her to one year of forced labor. She was transferred from Wuhan City No. 1 Detention Center to the female division of Wuhan City's Hewan Labor Camp. One witness said that (at that time) Ms.Wang Li was not carrying any flyers at all. The charge used to bring her to the labor camp was completely fabricated. Her family now has no place to appeal.

At the end of 1999, Ms. Li was once illegally arrested in Beijing. After she was brought back to Wuhan, the police sentenced her to two years of forced labor using some ambiguous charges. During that time, she was transferred around to many different places, such as the detention center, the brainwashing class, and the labor camp. She experienced many types of torture such as brutal beatings, long-term sleep deprivation, being hung up in the air by her wrists with her feet off the floor for a long time, being forced to do physical labor after her hunger strikes, being tied onto the "dead person's bed"* for a long time, force-feeding, and other forms of torture. Wang Li has always adhered to her belief. She was released at the end of 2001.

* "Dead person's bed" - The four limbs of the practitioner are stretched out and tied to the four corners of an icy-cold metal bed. The practitioner cannot move at all. Neither is he allowed to get up to eat, drink, or use the bathroom. This treatment lasts from several hours up to more than a dozen days. This type of cruel torture causes severe mental and physical damage to the practitioner.
