A huge sum of money was involved. It is surprising to find a network of corruption involving so many people in a medium size city like Xiangfan. The hard-earned money of the common people has been falling into the pockets of these corrupt officials. It seems to reflect the corrupt governance of Jiang's regime. In China today, people believing in truthfulness, compassion, and forbearance often lose everything and their families are broken apart, while government officials who exploit the common people are promoted steadily.
