Lawless Officials from Shijiazhuang Oil Refinery Relentlessly Persecute Dafa Practitioner Ms. Qiu Liying

October 14, 2003 |

(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Qiu Liying is a former employee of Shijiazhuang Oil Refinery. In November 1999 she was sentenced to three years of forced labor because she went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Dafa. She has been detained at Tangshan's Kaiping Forced Labor Camp and then at Baoding City's Forced Labor Camp where she has suffered all kinds of torture, both mentally and physically. She was steadfast in her belief, and as a result, her detention term was extended by three more months.

Qiu Liying was released at the end of January 2003. Her family, together with local police went to Baoding City's Forced Labor Camp to take her back to her hometown, but something unexpected happened. Qi Niandong, the Party secretary for Shijiazhuang City Refinery, used his authority and sent her directly to Hebei Province Legal Education Center, a deceptive name for a brainwashing center.

Ms. Qiu Liying resigned from the refinery in September 1999, so she was no longer the refinery's employee. But the persecutor Qi Niaodong initially offered money and manpower to send Qiu Liying to the brainwashing center. This corrupt official had previously sent five other Dafa practitioners for brainwashing. He made it convenient for the brainwashing center officials to extort money from and torture Dafa practitioners, thus increasing the persecution against Dafa practitioners.

Qiu Liying refused to be brainwashed. After being held there for seven months, she began a hunger strike to bring about her immediate release. When her family saw how Qiu Liying suffered from force- feeding, they often went to find Qi Niandong to request her release.

Brainwashing center officials had agreed to release Qiu Liying. The family members warned Qi Niandong that if anything should suddenly happen to Qiu Liying, he would be responsible for all consequences.

Under pressure from many sides, during the morning of October 1, 2003, Qiu Liying was released. She had then been on a hunger strike for over one month. Nevertheless, the Public Security Section of the refinery still monitored Qiu Liying 24 hours a day. They limited her freedom and threatened to send her back to the brainwashing center right after she had returned home.
