As the 16^th Congress of the Chinese Communist Party draws near, the police in Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province, have launched a new round of persecution of Falun Dafa and its practitioners. On the night of September 5^th, practitioners Sheng Xiaoyun and her husband Dai Yi were illegally taken away from their home in Chengfengzhuang, Daqing City. It is not known where they are being held in custody. Several other practitioners whose homes were under surveillance yesterday cannot be contacted. As for practitioners who have abandoned their residences to escape persecution, the police are checking their hometowns and the hometowns of their spouses.

Also, according to internal sources, a female practitioner of about 20 from outside the area was tortured to death by the Daqing City police in late August. The murderers have secretly disposed of the corpse for fear of being exposed. We are still searching for the name and other information about the deceased practitioner.

On the evening of January 18, 2001, just prior to the Chinese New Year, Falun Dafa practitioner Li Yuhua, an elderly lady from Nanyang City, Henan Province, was arrested by police in the Wancheng District. After a year and a half of detention, she was then illegally sentenced to three years in prison for refusing to give up her personal beliefs. She has already been sent to the Xinxiang Forced Labor Camp.

The elderly Li Yuhua had been sickly for many years. After practicing Falun Dafa, her health was restored. Since July 20, 1999, she has been illegally detained and her home ransacked numerous times. During the illegal detentions, which spanned an entire year, she was tortured to such an extent that she lost all of her teeth and her hair, which had returned to its original black from white as she practiced Falun Dafa. She had to work daily until 2:00 am to complete all of the heavy labor she was required to do.

Three generations in her home, including her mother and daughter, have all practiced Falun Dafa. Her eldest daughter has been forced to leave home to avoid harassment. We hereby appeal to all kind people worldwide to extend your hearts and support to help stop this evil persecution that is taking place in China.

In January 2000, female Falun Dafa practitioner Dong Peilan from Tianshui City, Gansu Province, was illegally sent to the No.1 Gansu Provincial Forced Labor Camp for one year of forced labor. After her release, she was once again taken away from a store on August 25^th of this year. She has not been heard from for quite some time. Her husband Zhao Lanzhou was forced to stay away from home for almost a year and has not been heard from at all. Their three young girls, unable to care for themselves, have been left at home alone with no one to rely on.

The three girls went to the Tianshui Police Department for several days in a row, crying to have their mother back. The police teased them with false promises but did not set their mother free. The eldest girl, who is only 13, could no longer take the sadness at home, so she walked away and has been gone for days. People are worried about her. The remaining 10- and 8-year-old girls are having a hard time at home.

The "610 Office" and the Police Department of Jiutai City in Jilin Province have recently held brainwashing classes at the Jiutai City Teachers Continuing Education School. [The "610 Office" is an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems.] Seven or eight Falun Dafa practitioners, including Bai Mingxu, have already been forcibly taken to the brainwashing class. The "610 Office" has also notified police stations across the city that each station has to meet an arrest quota of at least two Falun Dafa practitioners.

At noon on November 15, 2001, Chief of the Beigang Town Police Station Du Huanli led several policemen on a raid of female practitioner Song Weixiang's home. At the time, only two children were at home. Without a legal document and not following any legal procedures, the policemen conducted an illegal search of Song Weixiang's home. They toppled cabinets and threw things out of drawers. The two children were screaming with fear. The police did not find anything suspicious, but early the next morning they broke into Song's home again and illegally took her away.

Several days prior to Song's arrest, several practitioners who had been distributing Falun Gong materials were arrested. They included a married couple Zhang Xiushan and Li Zhengfang, Li Xiaowen, and a female teacher from Lushui River Meng Qingling. They have all been held in custody at the Fusong County Detention Center. The police department has tried to hand these practitioners over to the local court for further persecution. Because there is not enough evidence, however, the court has refused to take over the cases. So far the practitioners have been illegally detained for over ten months.

On the evening of August 27, 2002, practitioner Shen Xiangjun, who worked at the Beiguan Elementary School in the Zichuan District, and his wife Cheng Xianmei, also a practitioner, were arrested at home.

Provincial Model Worker Dai Qiuhua is an employee of the Zichuan Commercial Plaza. Police detained her on the evening of August 19^th as she was telling the facts and distributing materials about Falun Gong to people in the evening market.

On the night of August 28^th, the local police arrested female Falun Dafa practitioners Liu Shufen and Gao Shulan from Chalukou Town in Dehui City as they were on the road telling the facts about Falun Gong.

All Falun Dafa practitioners from Jinchang City who were illegally sent to the Ping'antai Forced Labor Camp in Lanzhou City, Gansu Province, at the end of May have been brutally tortured. They have been deprived of meals and sleep while being forced to engage in physically demanding labor. Some have been subjected to inhumane tortures. Several labor camp guards tortured female practitioner Ma Yuefen the first day she arrived. As a result of the beating, one of her legs was broken. She was not sent to the hospital until a month later, when the doctors put on an iron cast to keep her broken leg immobile. Practitioner Yang Xiaochuan has also been cruelly tortured. Many Falun Dafa practitioners' homes were ransacked while they were being held in illegal custody. The instances are too numerous to list.

1. Mr. Ruan Peng has been injured. The situation among males is very serious.
2. Ms Gao Juan has been electrically shocked by four or five male policemen and her face is swollen and bruised. She has been punched and kicked by policemen, including Wang Jun, Liu Fengbin, Wu Wei and Zhou Hongjun.
3. Ms Qin Qingfang, 62 years old, has been sentenced to three years forced labor because she took part in an experience-sharing meeting. She went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution. During this time policeman Liu Baocai electric-shocked her using electric batons and poured water on her. She was later sent to Masanjia detention center.
4. Ms Liu Min: on the tenth day of her hunger strike, policeman Wang Jun electrically shocked, punched and kicked her. She was sent to Masanjia Detention Center on the 20^th day of her hunger strike.
5. Ms Xie Fangyun is 20 years old. Police Chief Zhang Wei choked her. She was almost choked to death.

The first group of practitioners who were sent to labor camps in January 2000:

Ms Li Dexiang, Ms Li Guiying, Ms Guo Qunying, Ms Lu Fenglan, Mr Chen Ligao.

The second group of practitioners who were sent to labor camps in October 2000:

Ms Zhu Lanxiu, Ms Zhao Yueqin.

The third group of practitioners who were sent to labor camps in December 2000:

Ms He Binying, Ms Guo Qunying, Ms Li Guiying, Ms Lei Zhanxiang, Ms Hou Youxiang, Ms Wang Shuhua, Ms Wang Ailing, Ms Sun Ailing, Ms Yang Chengmei, Ms Zhao Fenglian, Ms Liu Guihua, Ms Bai Shufang, Mr Wang Shusheng and Mr Hao Jun.

The list of practitioners who were sent to labor camps in 2001:

Mr Wu Kaili, Ms Fu Guiqin, Ms Hou Youfang, Ms Sun Caiying, Ms Zhao Yueqin, Mr Wang Shukun, Mr Ma Yongjun.

Practitioners who have been illegally sentenced to labor camps in May 2002:

Ms Sun Ailing, Ms Liu Kuiying, Ms Bai Shufang, Ms Yang Xiufang, Ms Wang Yumei, Ms Zhao Peiwen, Ms Ma Yuefen, Mr Yang Xiaochuan, Mr Wang Jinping, Mr Ma Zhigang, Mr Chen Ligao, Mr An Hongquan.

In addition to the above, there are four practitioners detained in Jinchang detention center. It is said they will be illegally sentenced. The list is:

Mr Qin Dewu, Mr Zhang Yonglong, Mr An Zhanfeng and Ms Guo Hong.

As well, Mr Fan Yongcheng is being illegally detained in Yongchang detention center.

Ms Geng Huiying is a Dafa practitioner in Huawen college, Jinan University. At the end of 2001 she brought several copies of truth-clarifying materials to her colleagues. Someone reported this to the Principal of the college. The official of the college, Xie Hong, and the head of the Security Office Yang Jianmin reported this to Wushan Police Station, who searched Geng's home and threw her into Baiyun brainwashing class, which uses high-pressure ways to carry on brainwashing.

Ms Wu Ruiqi, going to Beijing to appeal in September 1999, was detained for 15 days. In January 2000 she went to Beijing to appeal again and was sent away for one year forced labor. In July 2001, 610 office staff asked her whether she wanted to continue to practice Dafa, she replied she would. She was then arrested by the 610 office and sent to Guangzhou Huangpu drug addiction therapy center brainwashing class and suffered many kinds of torture.

Ms Hu Yingxia went to Beijing to appeal in September 1999. She was forced to resign from the company. In November 1999 she went to Beijing to appeal again and was detained for 15 days. In March 2000 during the "two conference" period, 610 personal asked her whether she still wanted to go to Beijing to appeal. She replied yes. Therefore she was detained in a detention center for 15 days. In May 2000 she went to Beijing again and was detained for another 15 days. On June 17 of 2000 her home was ransacked and she was sent away for three years of forced labor.

Ms Zhang Shunying went to Beijing to appeal in September 1999 and was detained for 15 days. She was forced to resign from the company. In July 2000 she went to Beijing again and was detained for 15 more days. In January 2001, the 610 Office arrested her despite her husband just having had an operation and needing her care. They arrested her and sent her to brainwashing class. Now she is forced to live as a homeless person to avoid persecution.

The 610 Office in Jiang'an area, Wuhan city arrested Falun Gong practitioners and sent them to brainwashing classes by force. They use violence to persecute steadfast practitioners. They punish them by making them stand for 24 hours a day and forbidding them to go to a washroom. They set up illegal jails.

We alert the practitioners in Beijing and its suburbs at this time, to beware of the action of 610 personnel. After the Chaoyang and Tongzhou Daying brainwashing classes were disbanded, the 610 office turned to a more secret means of persecuting Dafa and Dafa practitioners.

They wear plain clothes, drive unmarked cars, follow and monitor "important" persons and the places where "important persons" go frequently, such as their homes, stores, and markets. They have examined and arrested practitioners. They dispatch a person unfamiliar to the local people to detect and watch. The rest stay in the cars. Once they find a practitioner, that person appears in front of him suddenly and blocks his way, examines him and calls the company hidden in the car on a cell phone. When they find practitioners with truth clarifying materials they arrest them.

In the brainwashing class of Wanjialan, there are four collaborators [former Falun Gong practitioners who have gone astray due to brainwashing and torture], one man and three women. The man is Mr. Xia Zhenbo, over 20 years old; the women are Ms. Xia Shuhua, about fifty years old (tel: 86-24-24828056), Ms. Qu and Ms. Chu. These collaborators move around freely in the brainwashing class and do things that damage Dafa.
