France: International Broadcasting Station Runs Program about Persecution of Chinese Falun Gong Practitioners

August 01, 2002 |

"Falun Gong's Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance as well as its peaceful, rational and harmonious brilliance illuminate the whole globe" - This was the title of the program in Chinese that a French International Broadcasting Station broadcast to the people in China and greater Paris on July 19 and 20, 2002:

"Today is the third anniversary of the day when the officials in the upper ranks of the Chinese government decided to suppress Falun Gong. In many countries all over the world, activities to rally against the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners are being held.

Falun Gong practitioners' family members who are residing in Canada held a press conference at Parliament Hill in Ottawa. Family members of four practitioners who are imprisoned in China requested the immediate release of these practitioners. As far as we know, there are at least fifteen Chinese families in Canada who have family members being imprisoned because they went to China to clarify the truth about Falun Gong.

A branch of the French Falun Dafa Association held a rally and parade yesterday afternoon in Paris. The practitioners set off from the Eighth District of Paris and walked towards Human Rights Square. The theme for the silent march was "Three years of persecution, three years of courage".

The French branch of the Chinese Democratic Party also published a special article and pointed out that by the end of 2001, just based on internal Chinese official statistics, there were already 1600 Falun Gong practitioners who had been tortured to death. More than ten thousand people were arrested, more than six thousand people were sentenced to jail without trial, thousands of practitioners were sent to mental hospitals against their will and twenty five thousand people were sent to forced labour camps. The actual situation far surpasses these reported figures."
