Some Understandings from My Trip to Hong Kong: How to Clarify the Truth "Clearly"

(Clearwisdom.net) During the trip to Hong Kong, many people were deported because their names were on Jiang's blacklist. I was one of them. Here, I would like to point out something I thought we need to pay attention to and share with you some of my thoughts in the hope that they will be of some help for our future truth-clarification work.

Master said in "Touring North America to Teach the Fa," "So a Dafa disciple's responsibilities aren't for the sake of personal Consummation, but to save sentient beings while validating the Fa--that is a Dafa disciple's historic mission, and that is why Dafa disciples are truly magnificent."

First I would like to talk about why we went to Hong Kong. Some practitioners said that it was for sending forth righteous thoughts in close proximity, but I think that every word and action of a Dafa practitioner should be based on validating the Fa and saving sentient beings in that process. Then, what is required of us is much more than sending forth righteous thoughts in close proximity. At the same time, no matter what kind of situation we encounter, we must maintain a state that is consistent with "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance" so that people can realize that Falun Gong is good and compassionate, and that we are truly victims of the persecution. If we add our personal feelings while clarifying the truth, it will inevitably affect the listener, and it will in turn make it harder for us to clarify the truth "clearly."

Master said, "I often say that if a person is free from any personal notions, isn't motivated by his self-interest, and is genuinely looking to benefit others, when he points out another person's shortcomings or tells the other person what's right, that person will be moved to tears.

"Benevolence (Shan) is quite powerful. It's just that when a person in everyday people's society tells someone about a good thing, he usually attaches his own notions, and even worries that his self-interest might be harmed and wants to protect himself. Many things are mixed into what he says, so it becomes colored and impure, often even carrying emotion. If what you say truly comes from your kindheartedness and is without any personal agenda, your words will really touch others." (Falun Buddha Fa - Lecture at the Conference in Singapore )

Throughout our trip to Hong Kong, didn't all the practitioners, either those who went into Hong Kong or those who were denied entry, have the common goal of offering people salvation through validating the Fa? Then, although the police and customs officials had to do their job, aren't they also the very people that we should clarify the truth to? I think if we can truly think about the listeners from the depths of our hearts when clarifying the truth, then the way we speak will not contain emotions. When we want people to understand that we are being persecuted, they will see the compassion in us, and what we say will naturally touch their hearts. It will then be easier for them to accept what we are telling them. Only then can we achieve our goal of "clearly" clarifying the truth, which might not be achievable otherwise.

One can imagine how the passengers felt when we boarded after a delay of two hours. Therefore we should first of all let the passengers know the reason why we boarded the plane so late, because if we tried to ask them to understand that we were being persecuted when they were still reacting to the delay, the effect would not be as good. At the same time, I thought "absolutely not cooperating with the evil" does not mean not to be kind.

Master told us, "A Dafa disciple should put the Fa first in everything he does--whenever you evaluate something you have to consider the Fa first. You probably remember something I've said to you often: a Dafa disciple should consider others first in everything he does." "In your efforts to save sentient beings you've labored so hard to allow people to have a new understanding of us. So when you don't do well, it's quite possible you are unwittingly undermining the efforts you've made and some of the things you plan to do. You are cultivators, whose conduct is [supposed to be] pure and righteous. There are so many people who think you're great just by having seen how you act. If we don't pay attention to our own behavior in our daily lives, everyday people will see our actions and, since they can't get to know you at a deep level such as by studying the Fa, they will just look at how you act. And it's possible that one sentence or one action of yours will make them unsavable or create a bad impression of Dafa. We need to think about these things."("Teaching the Fa at the 2002 Fa Conference in Boston")

Hong Kong used to be truly democratic, and now it is in such a state. Even though they're still carrying out orders, the people in Hong Kong know exactly what is happening. Before I got on the plane, I saw a female police officer who, although showing much fatigue in her face, still looked kind. So I said to her, "You have worked so hard. Please do not think that we came to cause trouble for you. We spent a lot of money and took leave from work to come here. Why did we do this? Can you understand how we feel? We cultivate 'Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance.' We know this has happened all because of a few people in the government. It is not your fault, and you are only doing your job. I can understand." Hearing these words from me, the policewoman nodded her head, her eyes filled with tears and she said, "In fact we know everything, and we are very clear in our heart, but there is nothing we can do." When I heard these sincere words, I also felt sad. Isn't it true that everyone who happens to be around us has been arranged by Master for us to clarify the truth to? When we put ourselves in their situation and think of them first before telling them how we feel, in most cases they will be very receptive. Of course, being kind is not the same as being "compromising."

I feel that whatever situation we are in, there is always room for looking inside ourselves. At the same time, within the range of our cultivated righteous energy field, all that is passing through will be rectified, and along with our cultivation, there will naturally be arrangements for various levels. It all depends on how we position our heart! We need to harmonize the Fa well and to validate the Fa. It is indeed not an easy task. However, this is exactly where the glory of Dafa disciples lies. I hope we can improve in everything we do.
