1. [Beijing] Twenty-Eight Falun Dafa Practitioners Determined in Their Belief Are Sent to the Tuanhe Forced Labor Camp to be Tortured

By the end of June 2002, twenty-eight more Falun Dafa practitioners who were firm in their belief had been sent to the Tuanhe Forced Labor Camp in Beijing and were persecuted. According to sources from within the forced labor camp, the righteous thoughts of recently arrested Falun Dafa practitioners have been getting stronger and stronger, and the lies fabricated in Tuanhe have lost their audience. The labor camp authorities are having a hard time since their brainwashing schemes have become ineffective.

Besides extending forced labor terms for Li Chunyuan and four other practitioners, the labor camp has also sent practitioner Yu Ming from Shenyang City, Liaoning Province back to the "dispatching division." The authorities are at the end of their wits when it comes to this practitioner. Throughout the period of one and a half years, the authorities have tried everything they could. In the end since nothing has worked on Yu Ming, the authorities have changed the site of forced labor by sending him to the even harsher "dispatching division" for persecution. One other reason for sending Yu Ming there is to "gag his mouth" as he had been frequently exposing the details to higher authorities about how Falun Dafa practitioners were being abused. The forced labor camp was terrified by this, and regarded him as a nuisance. In the past, another Falun Dafa practitioner Zhang Jiuhai was sent back to the "dispatching division" because of his exposing to the [forced labor camp] bureau leaders the details about the cruel torture of Falun Dafa practitioners in the No. 2 Large Team.

2. [Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] Falun Dafa Practitioner Zhu Hongbin Is Unjustly Sentenced to Seven Years in Prison

Falun Dafa practitioner Zhu Hongbin was an employee at the Seventh Petroleum Factory in Daqing City. Zhu was sent to a forced labor camp in 2000 and was held beyond his forced labor termí until he went on a hunger strike. On December 27, 2001, police from the local police station arrested Zhu and at the same time conducted illegal searches of Zhu's home. Zhu Hongbin was being held in the Datong District Detention Center and has recently been sentenced to seven years in prison.

3. [China] Rumors over the Internet Say that Jiang Zemin Is in Poor Health (Unconfirmed News)

4. [China] After Forcing a Female Practitioner to Leave Home, the Police Persecute Her Family and Relatives in Order to Locate Her

Since I have been determined in practicing Falun Dafa, the head of the county police department Yang has frequently harassed me. In April of this year, I was forced to leave home and separate from my family. The next morning after I left home, Zhang, the chief of the local police station drove by and yelled at village officials, "You've got to find her. Lock her up as soon as you see her!" Village officials then called for dispatched vehicles and spent the whole day visiting all my relatives. My relatives who live within a dozen or so miles from my home were all harassed.

On the same day, the police station held my husband in custody throughout the day. The police tortured him during the interrogation. One of the police officers swore at my husband and repeatedly beat him. Even my 15-year-old son wasn't spared from the coercive interrogation. He was taken to the police station from school. Due to the damage that this caused his innocent mind he lost over a dozen pounds.

The police failed to get any information about my whereabouts, and turned to looking for fellow practitioners associated with me. Both my husband and my son refused to provide them with any leads.

Chief Zhang of the police station turned pale and was breathing heavily as if out of breath, upon realizing that he was not going to get what he wanted. He grabbed the phone and dialed the operator of the phone company. After exhaustive research, he got the telephone numbers of my relatives in City A and the corresponding police station. Zhang called the police station, asking for their coordination in arresting me. Police in City A harassed my relatives several times with coercive measures. They threatened to apply pressure to the company and institute where my relatives are employed.

After Chief Zhang of the police station eventually failed in locating either me or other practitioners, he yelled at village officials furiously, pointing to my husband, "All the telephone fees and taxi expenses incurred today have to all be paid by him. Go sell the farm land his family has been assigned tomorrow!"

5. [Beijing] Site for Falun Gong Materials Is Damaged in the Tongzhou Area

A few days ago, contact was lost with a site for Falun Gong [truth clarifying] materials. It has been verified that this site has been damaged. Three adults and a 3-month-old baby boy were on site. Equipment at that site included a desktop PC, a notebook PC, three printers, four cellular phones, several pagers. Besides that there was cash, spare materials, and parts, etc. The loss was quite significant.

Chen Lianying was later allowed to go home after going through forced brainwashing sessions. Zhao Tianqin has been held in the Qingzhou Police Station and suffered from cruel torture. It has been reported that all ten finger nails of Zhao have been torn off. Zhao Tianqin was sentenced to a forced labor camp in May.

Zhao Lanmei was later allowed to go home after going through forced brainwashing sessions. Zhao Tianchun has been unjustly held in the Qingzhou Detention Center and was later sentenced to forced labor together with Zhao Tianqin.
