The Hong Kong government recently announced that the unemployment rate in Hong Kong was 7.1% from February to April. This rate is 0.1% higher than that of the previous season.

Since Hong Kong was taken over by the Chinese government, the unemployment rate in Hong Kong has progressively increased due to the financial storm and the incompetence of leadership. This certainly has brought many bad consequences, however, what makes people worry the most is the rise in the suicide rate. According to the investigation, financial problems such as unemployment are the second most common reason for suicide in Hong Kong. A notable characteristic of the suicides in Hong Kong is that the age of the suicide population is getting younger and younger.

According to statistics from the Hong Kong Suicide-Prevention Assistant Organization, there were 988 people who committed suicide in 2001, which is more than the 882 suicide cases in the year 2000. The average number of daily suicides is 2 to 3. Some overseas media believe that the high suicide rate is directly related to the failure of the leadership.
