Falun Gong practitioner Chen Yongjian and other practitioners from Wuzhishan City, Hainan Province have been illegally held in a local detention center.

In order to safeguard Falun Dafa and to protest against the inhuman persecution, all the practitioners imprisoned by the detention center started a group hunger strike, demanding their release as well as the release of those practitioners who had been sent to labor camps. After the hunger strike had gone on for a few days, there was still no response from the police. To further stir the policemen's conscience, practitioners began to stop drinking water also. On the ninth day of the hunger strike, about 7 or 8 policemen from the Hainan Province "Special Case Group" walked into the cell where male practitioner Chen Yongjian was detained. They put handcuffs and shackles on Chen and took him to an interrogation room. As the police entered the interrogation room they closed the door and drew the curtain. They then began to curse Falun Dafa and ordered Chen to end his hunger strike immediately. They told Chen that if he refused to do so, they would "teach him a lesson."

Chen refused to end his hunger strike and faced these vicious policemen with strong righteous thoughts. His act shocked the policemen and roused their anger. Several policemen violently pushed Chen to the ground. They started to force-feed him with water. The water spurted out from Chen's mouth and nose, but the police refused to stop their brutality until they had gone through five bottles of water. Because Chen never cooperated with them, the policemen punched and kicked him relentlessly. He became disoriented, and his face became badly swollen and severely disfigured. He also had many bruises on his chest and back. The injuries were so severe that Chen was unable to even open his mouth until a few days later. The swelling on his hands and wrists from the handcuffs did not go down for more than 10 days. This is how the police beat and tortured a man who had been on hunger strike for 9 days.

We hereby appeal to kindhearted people all over the world to help stop such atrocities from continuing!
