(Clearwisdom.net) Editors' Note: In both Western and Chinese culture, the principle of karmic retribution, that is, being held ultimately accountable for one's own actions, is widely accepted. The fundamental teaching of Falun Gong is the characteristic of the universe, "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance." The universe will reward actions that are in harmony with this principle, while actions such as beating, torturing and murdering people will incur karmic retribution. Stated another way, good deeds will be rewarded with good, while evildoings will meet due retribution.
There is a poor family in a village in Shandong Province. The family consists of an elderly couple who are over 70 years old, their son and a grandson who lost his mother. The elderly couple are humble, honest, and often help people who are less fortunate than themselves. A local Dafa practitioner had become homeless due to the persecution by the police. The police posted a notice and offered a 50,000 Yuan reward to anyone turning in the Dafa practitioner. The elderly couple went through a lot of trouble and finally met the practitioner and said to him, "Those bad people will not last long. Come, live in our home. I know you Falun Gong practitioners are the best people under the sun. If the bad people try to take you away from our home, the two of us will protect you with our lives." This way, a few homeless Dafa practitioners lived in their home for over 6 months.
During the fall harvest this year, their son had an accident as he was driving a farm vehicle
that overturned, rolled over a few times, and landed in the river. The people nearby who witnessed
the incident were shocked. The young man was thrown six to seven meters away but was not hurt at
all. The vehicle was not damaged either after it was pulled out of the river. The elderly couple
told their friends and relatives, "Falun Gong practitioners' Teacher is really mighty. If it
wasn't for their Teacher protecting our son, he would be dead. People who help Falun Gong
practitioners are really rewarded with good fortune."
