[Clearwisdom.Net] Tanhui, female, is a thirty-year-old college graduate who discovered the meaning of human life through Falun Dafa. In addition, Tanhui gained physical health, family harmony, and the reduction of her karma (among other things) by practicing Falun Gong. Her friends and relatives also gained indirect benefits from her practice. In order to prove that Dafa was supernormal and to clarify the truth to the people of the world, Tanhui went to Tiananmen Square on January 1st, 2000. Afterwards, she was arrested and sent to the Xingtai Second Detention Center. She said, "I should not be detained here because I did not commit a crime. I only wanted to speak to the country with words from my heart. Everything should be examined based upon fact. When faced with unfair treatment, people should be able to speak--this is a basic human right." Without any power to change her circumstance, however, Tanhui, a weak woman, was forced to stage a hunger strike to protest her unfair treatment and request that the government release her.

On the fourteenth day of her hunger strike, the team specifically in charge of Falun Gong cases signed her release certificate; however, this turned out to be a trick. When Tanhui started to eat again, they sent her to the detention center. Thus, Tanhui began a second hunger strike and refused to drink water until eleven days later, when she was released. On the fifteenth day of her second hunger strike she was very weak. However, Liu Xiaoming, the vice head of the detention center, completely ignored her medical condition and refused to take any action for her situation (though he was supposedly a "public servant"). Moreover, he abused his power and used cruel measures to torture and beat the other Falun Gong practitioners in the camp.

The result of Liu's actions was so bad that it makes peoples' hair stand on end. On June 16th, Liu forced the Falun Gong practitioners to submit their prisoner numbers; otherwise, he would use more implements of torture on them. Out of her kindness, Tanghui told him the karmic principle that "Good is rewarded with good and evil is met with evil." Rather than listen to her, however, Liu viciously grabbed her hair and wrestled her to the floor. Then he pushed and pulled her outside, where he handcuffed her hands to the shackles around her feet. Afterwards, he instructed two male prisoners to beat her. One prisoner trampled her shoulders, and another trampled her legs. They also exposed her to the burning sun for an extended period of time. As a result, her head was badly injured and she often had a headache and felt dizzy. Her tailbone was also broken during the incident. Tanhui had a CT examination and an X-ray, but they would not show her the results. Currently, Tanhui lies in bed all day and she cannot move. Her suffering is beyond words.
