1. [Wuxue City, Hubei Province] Falun Dafa Practitioners Tortured in the Wuxue Detention Center
The Wuxue Detention Center in Hubei Province physically abuses Falun Dafa practitioners, utilizing cruel methods of torture.
For example, Falun Dafa practitioner Guo Zhimeng suffered severe burns during his detention. Guo was subjected to lengthy and painful torture, enduring the pain of having each fingernail burned with a cigarette butt. This torture continued until all ten fingernails cracked and broke into pieces from the continuous heat. Guo Zhimeng was eventually sentenced to forced labor re-education.
Another Falun Dafa practitioner, Feng Zixin, was the Party Secretary of the Disciplinary Committee of the Food Bureau. Feng was an excellent party member in the Huanggang Area, and a model employee. In order to restore the innocence of Falun Dafa, he went to Beijing many times to file appeals. As a result, he was illegally held in custody for over a year. In prison, he was severely beaten by police officers and inmates, enduring all kinds of torture, such as "carrying the sword on the back." (This is a slang term for the torture in which both hands are handcuffed together behind a person, with one hand forced over the shoulder to reach the other hand coming up from the back.)
Early in 2001, the local court sentenced Feng to four years in prison after the wicked authorities had failed in their attempt at forcing him to give up his belief by threatening him with dismissal from all of his posts. Feng Zixin had visited leaders at various levels to clarify the truth of Falun Gong. An official of the Party Committee in the Huanggang Area had once told Feng, "We know that you are the top talent, but you still have to give up Falun Gong." Those who have recently seen him reveal, "There isn't an inch of his body that is not wounded."
Another Falun Dafa practitioner, Mei Zhongquan, is a monk who lived in a temple. Officers from the Municipal Religions Bureau and the police station kidnapped him from the temple and took him to the detention center where he still remains in custody. The kidnappers spare no one, it seems - not even respecting a monk.
There are over a hundred Falun Dafa practitioners being held in custody at the detention center. The families of each of these practitioners have been extorted of sums ranging from several thousand to as much as 10,000 Yuan RMB (the average monthly salary in urban areas in China is around 600 Yuan.) These self-serving opportunists are using the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners to their own advantage, extorting money from the families of practitioners to accumulate personal profits. They have even engaged in fighting among themselves in disputes over sharing the loot!
Around July 20, 1999, staff members of the "610" Office (Government department established specifically to detain and persecute Falun Gong practitioners) and the National Security Agency coerced all passengers at Wuxue Harbor to curse the Teacher of Falun Gong. Failure to commit this vile act would result in refusal to allow the passenger to board the ship. In brainwashing classes, practitioners are forced to step on the portrait of Mr. Li Hongzhi, the Teacher of Falun Gong. When they refuse, several thugs will physically pick them up and heave the practitioner onto the portrait.
These 610 Office staff members completely strip female practitioners naked and conduct needless body searches for their own depraved amusement. One barbaric policeman raped a female practitioner in a police substation. Another female practitioner was so brutally tortured that she lost her sanity, at which point they were said to have released her. Several days later, however, her decomposed body was found floating in a river. Police then spread the wicked lie that she had "committed suicide." (Note: The principles of Falun Gong strictly prohibit practitioners from taking any life, and that includes suicide. The police, under the pressure of the higher authorities, often make false statements that Falun Gong practitioners have committed suicide, when in fact, they have been tortured to death.)
2. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Changchun Public Security Bureau Cruelly Tortures Falun Dafa Practitioners
Falun Dafa practitioner Liu Zhe was forced to wear shackles after having been interrogated several times. Zhang Yufeng and Zhao Guifeng are in poor health due to the brutal torture they have endured. Young practitioner Liu Ying was beaten so severely that her face was swollen and disfigured. Practitioner Zheng was also beaten, with severe injuries, particularly on his legs. His head and face were also badly swollen, and his head injuries were so extensive that he completely lost his hearing.
Another practitioner, whose name is not known, was viciously beaten and his head covered by a plastic bag, suffocating him almost to the point of death. One of the female practitioners had been so badly battered that even ten days after incurring her injuries, black bruises still remained around her eyes.
In Changchun City, where Falun Dafa was first brought to the public, unlawful police know, better than anyone, that Falun Dafa practitioners are all good people. Yet, in order to usurp political and monetary favor, they engage in the persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners, against their own conscience. We hope that kind-hearted people and their friends and relatives will work to have these criminal acts stopped.
3. [Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province] Recent Cases of Falun Dafa Practitioners Illegally Detained or Sent to Labor Camps in Jiamusi City
Xu Chenghua was arrested on May 22, 2001. Leaders of her work unit spotted her on the street, and notified the Qianjin Police Station. She was immediately thrown into the Detention Center, and has since been sentenced to forced labor re-education.
Xie Qingfang was arrested on May 22, 2001, when she had gone to visit a pregnant friend of hers. She was spotted by the police as she was leaving her friend's home, and was held in the detention center for fifteen days. Upon returning home, she discovered that her house had been ransacked while she was in detention.
Sun Jingchun was performing Falun Dafa exercises in a Jiamusi City park on the morning of June 6, 2001. The police took her into custody and detained her for fifteen days.
Xu Jingzhi had previously suffered from numerous illnesses, but Falun Dafa has given her a second life. In order to voice her deep feelings, she went to Tiananmen Square and shouted, "Falun Dafa is good!" She was arrested and robbed of all the money she was carrying by Officer Li Yanhua in the provincial Beijing Liaison Office.
4. [Songyuan City, Jilin Province] An Unprecedented Judicial Travesty: Illegal Sentencing of Anonymous People Without Evidence
In June 2001, two Falun Dafa practitioners were illegally arrested in Heping Village in the Ningjiang District of Songyuan City, Jilin Province. These two practitioners refused to cooperate with the evil forces and did not give out their names. The police goons failed to gather any evidence to be used as an excuse for further persecution. And yet, the authorities were planning to send them to a labor camp in Jiutai City, under the names of "Anonymous 1" and "Anonymous 2." This is truly an unprecedented case.
The police had posted pictures of the two on the Internet, and someone who recognized one of them from the pictures notified his family instead of the police. His mother and younger brother went to Songyuan City to ask for his release. When they met this practitioner, he was in critical condition, needing to be carried out by others. This demonstrates the barbaric nature of the Songyuan Police. The police could not find an excuse to continue persecuting him, and with the strong demands from his family, this practitioner was released and taken home by his mother and brother.
5. [Shenzhen, Guangdong Province] Shenzhen Police Rampantly Suppress Falun Dafa Practitioners
At 11PM May 6, 2001, Shenzhen City Police Department began an illegal citywide campaign to search all Falun Dafa practitioners' homes. They gave the excuse of searching for Dafa materials, but the true aim was to arrest the practitioners from other provinces. The police department launched the campaign because Jiang Zemin [president of China and responsible for the persecution] was going to attend the "Fortune Forum" in Hong Kong on June 8. Besides searching the homes, the policemen were given the order to restrain all practitioners for 48 hours (not allowing them to leave home). From this we can see how Jiang Zemin is scared of Falun Dafa.
One of my colleagues said when his son entered high school, the school required the parents' company or street office to certify that the child's parents are not practicing Falun Gong. The authority uses this to pressure practitioners with school-age children. It also created pressure on the students so as to isolate the practitioners' children in the school.
One reliable source disclosed an internal policy of the Shenzhen Police Department. The policy states that all practitioners who have gone to Beijing for whatever reason will be detained for 15 days. Any practitioners unfurling banners or shouting "Falun Dafa is good" on Tiananmen Square will be charged to three years forced labor camp. If a practitioner is regarded as a steadfast practitioner, one will be sentenced to forced labor immediately.
Recently (starting from May), many practitioners were required to write letters such as "criticizing Dafa, repentant from Dafa, or their understandings slandering Dafa." All practitioners who refused to write the letters were detained in brainwashing classes (no matter whether they had been to Beijing or not).
The policies and actions of the Shenzhen authorities are among the most vicious ones nationwide.
6. [Wuhan, Hubei Province] Police Kidnap Practitioners
Practitioner Zhu Hanbing was forcibly taken away by police in December 2000. He has been detained for over 8 months and has yet to be released. He is being detained in Qingling Detention Center in Wuhan City.
On August 5 2001, police took away practitioner Wang Qinglian's entire family (three members) by force. Wang Qinglian is a resident of the city of Wuchang.
7. [Wen'an County, Hebei Province] Wen'an Police Illegally Arrest Falun Dafa Practitioners
Some practitioners from Beijing came to Wen'an to make truth-clarifying materials in practitioners' homes. Police from Beijing, Langfang and Wen'an raided the house and arrested three practitioners. Equipment worth about 20,000 to 30,000 Yuan and many truth-clarifying materials were confiscated.
Recently, the lawless police of Wen'an County have escalated the persecution against Falun Dafa practitioners. They have used all kinds of excuses and recently arrested more than ten practitioners. Some practitioners had to leave home to avoid persecution.
8. [Zhoukou City, Henan Province] Vicious Police Detain Public Procurator Practitioner
On August 3, 2001, we were informed that vicious policemen arrested a just and honest Procurator, practitioner Liang, recently. His wife is also a practitioner and has been detained for over several months now. Now only a very old grandmother and a young daughter who can hardly take care of themselves are left at home. Insiders say Procurator Liang is being detained in Beidayuan Detention Center.
9. [Xuchang City, Henan Province] Actions by the Police Result in Retribution
In July, the Police Department of Xuchang City Henan Province began to search the homes of practitioners whom they suspected of distributing truth-clarifying materials. They ransacked the apartments and would detain the practitioners for 30 days if they found any Falun Dafa books or truth-clarifying materials. At this time, they have illegally detained over 10 practitioners.
Wen Jianwei, a vicious person from the Political Security Department in Weidu District Police Station Xuchang City has received retribution for his actions. His leg was broken in a car accident. He has taken medical leave at home.

10. [Qianjiang, Hebei Province] More Practitioners Step Forward to Validate Falun Dafa
On August 2, one practitioner from the Farm of Jianghan Oil Field Qianjiang City Hebei Province was arrested while walking in the street. The police did not give any reason or legal document. He is being detained in Qianjiang City now. We will investigate the event to find more details.
Recently, more and more practitioners of Qianjiang area stepped forward to validate Dafa. The police, vicious people and the "610 office" have no new tactics to brainwash the practitioners so they lost their senses and can only arrest practitioners randomly.
11. [Nong'an County, Jilin Province] Criminal Policemen Received Retribution
When the vicious policemen of the Political Security Department from Nong'an County Police Station went to Changchun City to escort back the practitioners who appealed in Beijing, they always beat, harass, and extort money from the practitioners. On December 2000, three vicious policemen including Shi Zhongxin, Liu Huanqing were driving to Changchun City to receive the practitioners being escorted back. The car overturned on the way. All three vicious policemen were severely injured and were sent to the hospital. The police car was also severely damaged. This was clearly retribution for their evil actions.
