July 20 2001 was the second anniversary of the brutal persecution of Falun Gong by Jiang Zemin's regime. From 2pm to 11pm, practitioners in Paris rallied in front of the Chinese Embassy to clarify the truth of Falun Gong, expose Jiang Zemin's brutal and harsh persecution, and hold a candlelight vigil for the Falun Gong practitioners who have died in police custody. The Chinese Embassy had put heavy pressure on the local police in order to try and interfere with the Falun Gong event, but the police gave permission for our activities eventually. The practitioners distributed truth-clarifying materials to the Chinese people who were waiting to get their personal business dealt with, outside the Embassy. Though some of them were so afraid of getting in possible trouble with the Chinese government, some were not, and accepted our truth-clarifying materials.

While the practitioners holding the photos of those who were tortured to death in China stood still silently and solemnly in front of the Chinese Embassy, many French citizens came over and inquired of us intently. Our practitioners told them about the ongoing brutal and inhuman persecution of Falun Gong in China. Hearing of this, many of them asked immediately, "What can I do for you?" A lady said after reading the SOS flyer, "I will write letters to support you when I get back home today." When another lady saw our wreath for 255 practitioners tortured to death, she took one flower from the bunch that she had just bought and gave it to us: "This is for them." We were deeply moved by them. The official, Wei Deen, peeked at us from a window right after our event started. Later the secretary, Wu Yongqin, was sent out to take pictures of us. A staff member from the Chinese Embassy came out to talked with the police twice, falsely accusing us of playing our music too loud. But all their ridiculous requests were denied by the police the same as two weeks ago.

A lady looked at our posters and said, "We cannot let such violent torture go on anymore." A person from Poland who spoke fluent French told us after reading the truth-clarifying materials, "If your belief is righteous, you should firmly stay with it forever." He also encouraged us to hold on.
