Experience with Chinese Children Visiting Australia

July 24, 2001 |   A Sydney practitioner

In the afternoon of July 20, I was in front of the Australian Parliament House in Canberra, handing out true stories about Falun Dafa to the travelers. A bus dropped off a group of Chinese students in front of the Parliament House. They were about 8 to 14 years old. They looked around and took some photos. A few pupils came over to see the photo displays beside me, and the printed material on the table. When they found out that these were Falun Dafa materials, they started shouting immediately: "Turn the table over, Turn the table over! What the (obscenity deleted) is this, promoting Falun Gong!" Other children came over, and some of them joined them, shouting, "Turn this table over! Turn this table over!" Seeing them so young, so innocent, but with such aggressive manners and attitudes, I was shocked. One kid was reciting a poem that slandered Falun Dafa and Zhen-Shan-Ren (truth, compassion, forbearance). I was at a loss for words for a moment, and just looked at them and felt deeply sorry for them.

They did not overturn my table. An Australian Falun Dafa practitioner, Geoff , was sitting on the grass beside the information table. He did not understand the words, but recognized the aggression and abuse in the tone of their voices, so he quickly went to stand beside the photo frames. He sensed that those kids, not even two feet high, were about to knock over the photo stands. Because he was standing there, they did not touch anything but continued to chant anti-Falun Dafa slogans.

A few minutes later, I heard the teacher calling the children together. I went over and said to them: "Little friends, listen to me, "Zhen-Shan-Ren" are not just somebody's words. They are the principles of the universe. When you behave yourself, doing things, you have to follow the principles of heaven." Before I finished talking, a pupil shouted out to me: "What is Heaven? Ask God to come to see me! Have a talk with me!"

Is this the future of China?

Many westerners are worried about the future influence, both politically and economically, that may be wielded by China, as western governments ignore human rights atrocities committed by China in their greed for profits. This incident is disturbing and thought provoking to all people who follow the principles of truth, compassion and forbearance, and hope for a peaceful and moral future for mankind.
