French Government to Take More Severe Attitude towards the Human Rights Conditions in China

[Minghui Net] On the afternoon of April 4, 2001, Falun Gong practitioners, accompanied by Madam Yvette Pottier from the French Amnesty International, had a sincere and trusting conversation for over an hour at the French Foreign Ministry with officials who are in charge of Chinese Affairs. The Ministry officials said that they have a very good understanding of Falun Gong and what the Chinese government has done to Falun Gong, and they expressed sympathy towards the Falun Gong practitioners who are under persecution in China. Apparently, the French government will take on a more severe attitude towards the human rights condition in China. According to other reports, European Union countries have passed an agreement to oppose the motion proposed by China to block discussion of the issues of human rights in China. The EU nations have also made the decision that if the first round of voting during the United Nations Human Rights Commission results in a decision to discuss this motion, the European countries will join in to condemn China.
