Youhao Village:

The Party Secretary Zhang Guorong often harassed practitioner Fu Chunlong, who has refused to give up practicing "Truthfulness, Benevolence, Forbearance." Zhang has fined him many times since July 1999. When Fu Chunlong was arrested for practicing Falun Gong at Zhao Yayun's home, policemen went to his home on several occasions and stayed there waiting to see if other practitioners would contact him.

Female practitioner Guan Xiufen was arrested because the police found two Falun Gong books at her home. They extorted 1500 Yuan from her before releasing her. (Note: Yuan is Chinese currency. The average monthly income of an urban worker is 500 Yuan.)

Female practitioner Wu Xiuhua was arrested because the police found the book Zhuan Falun at her home. They demanded 1000 Yuan from her before releasing her.

Female practitioner Yin Yumei steadfastly refused to give up her belief in Dafa. County Party Secretary Zhang Guorong and Vice Secretary Wan Guolan (who has since been transferred to another position) have tried many different ways to force her to give up practicing. Because her daughter went to appeal for Falun Gong in Beijing, they suspended her and her husband from work at a local school. They were required to report to the school everyday without pay. During the Chinese New Year period, Yin Yumei, Guo Xianmin, Zhao Yafen, Wang Xiumei, Na Yafen, all steadfast female practitioners, were held in an office of the party committee of the village in the name of attending a brainwashing class. They slept on tables and chairs. Everyday, the militia on guard cursed and insulted them. They were held without any personal freedom for a month.

Practitioner Fu Wenpei and Yin Chengfang were suspended from work for over two months for refusing to give up practicing. They went to appeal in Beijing and were detained for two months. The local police extorted 2500 Yuan from them to pay for the trip of the policemen who went to Beijing to take them back. After being released, they were held in the classroom of the middle school where they work and had their salaries suspended. Teachers at the school were assigned to watch them in turn.

Female practitioner Hong Shuqing was detained for over two months for appealing in Beijing. After she was released from the detention center, she was held at the party committee meeting location of the village. The local police have visited her home many times to apply pressure. They confiscated her Falun Gong exercise tapes and extorted 1000 Yuan from her.

Female practitioner Guo Yan was held in the detention center in Shuangcheng City and tortured for a whole night in 1999 for her pursuit of freedom of belief. They fined her 3000 Yuan before releasing her.

Female practitioner Guo Xianmin was turned in, arrested, and fined 800 Yuan by the local police station.

Guo Lihua was fined 500 Yuan when the police found at her home the Falun Gong book Essentials for Further Advancement.

Liu Lichun was fined 7000 Yuan for appealing in Beijing in October 1999. He went to appeal again and has been held in a labor camp in Beijing since then.

Female practitioner Ma Xinying was sentenced to one year in labor camp in 2000 for appealing in Beijing.

Female practitioner Wang Shurong was fined 2000 Yuan for appealing in Beijing. She went to Beijing again, and the local officials took away the farmland she leased. They sentenced her to one year in labor camp.

Female practitioner Wang Xiumei was discovered reading the Falun Gong books. The village officials took her by force to the office. Her husband beat her up and burned her books.

Female practitioner Na Yafang was held in the detention center in Shuangcheng City for half a month for appealing in Beijing. They fined her 3000 Yuan and took away the farmland she leased. During the Chinese New Year period, they held her at the village office, even though she was five months pregnant.

Wang Xin was held in the No. 2 Detention Center of Shuangcheng City for 11 days for appealing in Beijing. Afterwards, he was held in the local police station for 4 days, only released after he went on a hunger strike. Because of his trip to Beijing, his parents were suspended from work. The village officials demanded 1000 Yuan to cover the cost of their trip.

Guanghui Village

Female practitioner Meng Qingzhi went to visit her parents in December of 2000. The local police suspected that she might go to Beijing, so they held her for two days and fined her 500 Yuan.

Female practitioner Wang Xiuju was found to have a hand-written copy of Zhuan Falun when the local police searched her home in October 1999. They fined her 1000 Yuan. She was detained 15 days for going to Harbin in July 2000 and fined 130 Yuan.

Female practitioner Jia Ying was found to have a set of tapes of the Falun Gong Lectures when the local police searched her home. They fined her 1000 Yuan.

Guo Fan was fined 1000 Yuan when the local police found Zhuan Falun in his home. He went to Beijing on Dec. 22, 2000 and was arrested in Shenyang. They held him at the No.2 Detention Center for 10 days. The 6-10 Office fined him 1000 Yuan, and the party committee of his village fined him 1800 Yuan. (The 6-10 office - an agency specifically created to persecuteáFalun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems.)

Fuqin Village:

Zou Xiaodong was held in the No. 2 Detention Center for 11 days for appealing in Beijing in November of 2000. They detained him for another 37 days in the local police station and demanded 2000 Yuan from his family. He started a hunger strike and was finally released. The party committee of the village detained him at the school for over a month in 2001.

Fuzhi Village:

The local police found at Shi Quan's home Dafa literature and fined him 1000 Yuan in October 1999. Shi Quan went to appeal in Beijing in November of 2000 and was held in the No. 2 Detention Center for 15 days and fined 1000 Yuan. On December 27 of 2000 according to the lunar calendar, he was arrested from home while reading Falun Gong books. He was sentenced to two years in the labor camp and has been detained since then.

Zhang Jing was detained for half a month for appealing in Beijing in 2000. She was fined 1000 Yuan. On December 27 of 2000, the lunar calendar, she was arrested from home while reading Falun Gong books. They detained her for 3 months, but she has since then been released.

Shi Yushan was fined 1000 Yuan when the local police searched his home and found Zhuan Falun in 1999. He was later detained for 15 days and fined 1000 Yuan for appealing in Beijing. On December of 2000, Chinese lunar calendar, when he and his wife Yang Xiufen were reading the Falun Gong books at their brother Shi Quan's home, the police came and detained them. He was held in Changlinzi Labor Camp for 7 months, and his wife Yang Xiufen was detained for 6 months and 6 days. The 6-10 Office fined her 1000 Yuan, and the detention center fined her 1300 Yuan.

Li Yueping was detained for 15 days for appealing in Beijing in November of 2000. The local police fined him 1000 Yuan and searched his home. On December 27 of 2000, the lunar calendar, he and his wife were arrested while reading Falun Gong books at Shi Quan's home. His wife Tong Wanqin was detained for a month, and he was detained for 7 months before he returned home.

There were altogether 16 practitioners detained for reading Falun Gong books in a group. Among them, female practitioners Ge Yajun and Guan Shumin were held in the local police station for a night and released after they each turned in 2000 Yuan. Eight practitioners including Ma Chunxiang were detained for a month before being released. Six practitioners were sentenced to labor camps, and among them Shi Quan is still being held there. His term is two years.

Lequn Village:

Zhu Yaoming was fined 1000 Yuan when the police found the book Zhuan Falun at his home in October 1999. He was fined over 3000 Yuan for appealing in Beijing in May 2000. His son was implicated and suspended from work for two months.

Fu Lianjun was fined 4000 Yuan and detained for one month for appealing in Beijing in February of 2000. When he went to appeal in Beijing again in November of 2000, he was extorted 3000 Yuan. The officials confiscated one acre of his farmland. He was forced to leave his home to escape the persecution.

The Perpetrators:

The Secretary of the Party Committee in Lequn County Subdivision Zhang Guorong and the Vice-Secretary Wang Guolan have followed Jiang Zemin's orders closely in persecuting the practitioners.

Female practitioners Ma Xinying and Zhang Yafen were held in the detention center of Shuangcheng City for appealing in Beijing. After they were released, Party Secretary Zhang Guorong and Vice-Secretary Wang Guolan were afraid that they might go to Beijing again, so they detained the practitioners in a nursing home for more than two months. They also insulted the practitioners with dirty language. Wang Guolan gave them dozens of slaps in the face because they refused to give up practicing. The two party secretaries forced Zhang Yafen's family to turn in 4000 Yuan before setting her free.

Zhang Guorong and Wang Guolan have been using various methods to persecute practitioners. Because Zhao Yayun firmly believes in Dafa, Zhang Guorong sent her to the labor camp. Zhao Yayun was tortured to death in the labor camp.

The Persecution of Practitioners in Yuejin County

Female practitioner He Guiping was arrested on her way to appeal in Beijing on December 20, 2000 in Changchun City, Jilin Province. She was sent to the No.2 Detention Center of Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province. She refused to give her name and was severely beaten. They held her there for half a month and then transferred her to the detention center in Shuangcheng City. They detained her there for 55 days, fined her 1000 Yuan, and demanded 498 Yuan for her meals. In addition, the local officials sold off all of her farmland.

Female practitioner Ma Yuhuang was arrested in Tianjin on her way to appealing in Beijing. She received various maltreatments and tortures while in police custody. She was later transferred to the detention center of Shuangcheng City for half a month before being released. The local police then extorted money from her to pay for their trip to Beijing.

On January 17, 2001, policeman Ma Dali from Yuejin County, Party Secretary Zhang Junbao, and the head of the village Liu Changlong lured practitioner Ma Chengbao to a room at the Party Committee Office of the village under the pretense of "having a talk" and detained him there. His 7-year-old child was left alone at home. There were three other practitioners held along with Ma Chengbao.

Wang Yuling went to appeal in Beijing on December 16, 2000. She was arrested and held in the police department in Fangshan, Beijing. The policemen forced her to sit upright on an iron stool for one day and one night without moving. Later she was held in the detention center of Shuangcheng City for 23 days. When she was finally released and sent back home, the local policemen pressured her family to pay for their trip to Beijing, but her family refused.

Female practitioner Bai Shuhua was arrested on December 23, 2000 when she validated Dafa in Tiananmen Square. She was held in the detention center of Shuangcheng City for 15 days. The local officials extorted 1700 Yuan from her to pay for their trip to Beijing.

Female practitioner Xu Dezhen went to visit the State Office of Appeals in Beijing in 2000. She was arrested and sent to the office of the local government of Heilongjiang Province in Beijing. Later she was transferred to the detention center of Shuangcheng City and held there for over 20 days. She suffered great mental torture. Her husband Yan Wenbao went to Beijing to validate Dafa on December 10, 2000. He was arrested near Tiananmen Square and transferred to the detention center of Shuangcheng City, where he was detained for 29 days. He received beatings there nearly everyday. After he was released, the officials of the county, the local police station, and the village visited his home many times to apply pressure. They extorted 3800 Yuan from the couple in cash. In addition, the village officials recorded in the village accounting book that they owed the village 1000 Yuan.

Because Xu Chunlin and Guo Longqun did not have the money required by the village officials to cover their trip to Beijing, the Secretary of the Village Party Committee Branch sold their farmland in March 2000, cutting off their livelihood. The four family members of Xu have left home to look for a living elsewhere.

Xu Qiulin was arrested for distributing truth-clarifying literature in the spring of 2000. He has been held in the Changlinzi Labor Camp in Harbin since then. His wife is living in poverty as a result.

The experience of Xu Shurong and her 4 sisters.

Xu's eldest sister was held in the detention center of Shuangcheng City for 22 days for appealing in Beijing. After her release, she was detained in the local nursing home. The local officials demanded 5000 Yuan to pay for their trip to Beijing. Because her family did not have the money, they held her husband in the local government office for two days. Her husband was finally released when they turned in the deed for their house as collateral. She was held again in the nursing home for two months on December 23, 2000. Because she refused to sign a pledge to give up practicing, she was detained in a brainwashing class in the Party School in Shuangcheng City. She was released only after her family signed it for her.

Her second eldest sister was taken to the local nursing home on December 23, 2000 and held there for over two months. Her family had to turn in 500 Yuan to bail her out.

Her third eldest sister was detained for 15 days for appealing in Beijing. The local government extorted 3000 Yuan from her to pay for their trip to take her back from Beijing. She was detained in the party committee of the village for 18 days during the Chinese New Year period in 2001. She was released after paying 1000 Yuan.

The fourth sister was detained for over 40 days when she first went to Beijing to appeal. She held a hunger strike and was sent back home. However, she was held in the local nursing home for another 20 days. The second time she went to Beijing, she was detained for over half a month and sentenced to one year in labor camp. She is now detained in Wanjia Labor Camp in Harbin City. Her families are being denied visitation because she refuses to sign a letter of repentance.

Female practitioner Xu Shurong went to appeal in Beijing with her 4-year-old child in June 2000. She was taken back and detained in a cold, damp room in the local nursing home. She was released after holding a hunger strike.

The perpetrators of persecution in Shuiquan County Subdivision

The officials in Shuiquan County who are in charge of the Falun Gong issue, Zhang Bo and Guan, have been severely persecuting local practitioners.

On December 22, 2000, the Chinese lunar calendar, the two officials took many practitioners in police vans and put them in the brainwashing class in the local nursing home. The practitioners were held there for two months. They charged each practitioner 600 Yuan for food and 1000 Yuan for their trip to Beijing. In addition, each practitioner had to turn in 1000 Yuan to the local government as bail. The local government forced the families of practitioners to turn in the deeds of their houses and the farmland as collateral. The practitioners were denied all personal freedom, much less allowed to practice the Falun Gong exercises or to read the Falun Gong books. The guards also insulted them at will.

Tuanjie County:

Female practitioners Zou Guoyan, Xu Shujuan, and male practitioner Yu Kun went to appeal in Beijing on January 6, 2000, the Chinese lunar calendar. They were detained at the No.2 Detention Center in Shuangcheng City. Zou and Yu were kept in the same cell. The guard used the inmates to torture them. Zou was beaten and had bruises all over her body. Yu's teeth are still loose due to the beating, and he was fined 7000 Yuan. Xu Shujuan and Zou Guoyan went to Beijing again in December of 2000, where they were severely persecuted. Zou was forced to leave her home, leaving her 10-year-old child at home. Xu Shujuan was sentenced to one year in labor camp.
