Ms. Zhang Qingying, 50, lived in Xingyeli Neighborhood, Dongli District, Tianjin City. She began cultivating Falun Dafa in 1996. On July 10, 2000, she was locked up for 25 days in the Dongli District Brainwashing Center in Yaoliuqiao Township. She went to Beijing to appeal in August 2000, immediately after being released from the brainwashing center. She was thus sentenced to 18 months of forced labor, served in the Tianjin City Women's Forced Labor Camp (formerly called Banqiao Women's Forced Labor Camp), where she was forced to do slave labor in the clothing factory. While at the forced labor camp she was deprived of sleep, and her blood pressure reached 220 due to the mental pressure and physical torture.
After Ms. Zhang was released from the forced labor camp in 2001,the local police and Neighborhood Administrators constantly harassed her, and she had a stroke in the summer of 2005. On June 20, 2006, she was arrested and then detained in the Dongli District Detention Center, but was released one week later because her stroke symptoms recurred. The Dongli District police still sentenced her to two years of forced labor, and assigned policeman Han Junsheng to deliver the forced labor notification. Ms. Zhang refused to sign her name to the document. The forced labor camp refused to take her due to the severity of her condition, and the police then processed her case as "bailed out for medical treatment." Under the long-term pressure of the CCP persecution, Ms. Zhang never recovered from her condition, and died on January 8, 2008.
