Huang Zhiyi, a 60 year-old male, was a retired employee of Northwest Aluminum Factory (originally known as State-run No. 113 Factory, located in Longxi County, Gansu Province). Huang was illegally detained in the detention center after he made an appeal for Falun Gong in Beijing. He was also tortured in brainwashing class. To make matters worse, Huang was constantly harassed and threatened by the police after he was already released from the detention center. The police demanded Huang give them information of his daughter's whereabouts. If he did not cooperate, the police threatened to imprison his wife instead. (Mr. Huang's daughter and wife are also Falun Gong practitioners. His daughter has been forced to leave home to avoid further persecution). Huang had become very healthy from practicing Falun Gong. However, his heart disease reoccurred due to torture, harassment and persecution by the police. Huang suddenly died on January 19th, 2002.
