Case Description:
Mr. Wei Laihe was a thirty-seven-year-old practitioner from the Linxikuang Area of Guye District in Tangshan City, Hebei Province. Before the opening of the 16th Congress Representatives' Meeting, policemen broke into Wei's home and took him to the local police substation, claiming, "We need to have a talk with you." They detained Wei in the substation, and he staged a hunger strike to protest the illegal arrest. A few days later, Wei's family was allowed to take him home. Although he was sent to a hospital for emergency treatment, Wei still passed away.
