Ms. Zhen Yujie, 28, was a resident of Gacha Village, Xiasanzijia Township, Chaoyang County, Liaoning Province. She started to practice Falun Dafa in 1997.

On July 20, 1999, she and her husband Tian Yili went to Beijing to appeal. However, when they arrived at Beijing, they could only witness police wantonly arresting Dafa practitioners, and there were no channels for practitioners to voice their concerns. In order to avoid arrest, they slept in drainpipes, under bridges or any other place they could stay at night. During the day, they went around to clarify the truth and expose the crimes committed against Dafa practitioners.

One month later, she and her husband were arrested. Her husband was able to jump out of the police van and escape. Later, local police from Liaoning Province came to Beijing to pick up her and some other practitioners. While the bus back to Liaoning Province was driving down a highway in Tianjin City, she and another male practitioner (whose name is unknown) tried to jump out of the bus to avoid further persecution. Unfortunately, both of them died. Later the village officials told her family to come to Tianjin to pick up her body. After confirming her identity, the family brought back her corpse and cremated it.
