Case Description:

Dafa practitioner Mr. Tong Wencheng passed away after suffering more than two years of torture at the hands of persecutors in the Changlinzi Forced Labor Camp in Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province.

Mr. Tong Wencheng, 49 years old, lived in Shuangcheng City, Heilongjiang Province. He began practicing Falun Dafa in 1996 and went to Beijing three times to validate Dafa.

On October 27, 2000, he did Dafa exercises in Tiananmen Square after the government turned a deaf ear to his pleas. As the result, he was arrested and sent to the No. 1 Detention Center in Shuangcheng City, where he was illegally detained for more than two months. During the detention he was shackled and brutally tortured, and lost consciousness three times. He was later transferred to the Pingfang Detention Center in Harbin City, where he was held and tortured for 22 days. The police at that detention center ordered criminals to brutally torture him.

On January 22, 2001, he was sent to the Changlinzi Forced Labor Camp in Harbin City for two years of detention, where he was again brutally tortured. The thugs forced brainwashing on him while not allowing him to sleep. After he got up in the morning, he was forced to stand facing the wall until 1 a.m. or 2 a.m. of the next day. During this period, he was not given any water and not allowed to use the restroom. He held a hunger strike to protest the inhuman treatment and was force-fed. In this horrific environment of the labor camp, he developed scabies all over his body and he could not take care of himself. He was later diagnosed with "adhesive pleural membrane" and was sent to the Wanjia Hospital [a forced labor camp hospital]. It was actually another round of persecution. In the hospital, the police forced him to squat on the floor while they poured water on him. At the time when his two-year term had expired, the Party was holding its Sixteenth Congress, so he was held for an additional 18 days. After his family took him home, Mr. Tong passed away on June 14, 2003.
