Case Description:
Former Government Official Mr. Ma Tianyong, from the National Security Bureau in Yingkou City, Dies as a result of persecution. His wife died earlier from the persecution of Falun Gong. Mr. Ma Tianyong was formerly the secretary of the Discipline Department at the National Security Bureau in Yingkou City, Liaoning Province, and he was also the director of the Political Department, and a first-degree police officer. He and his entire family suffered from the ruthless persecution against Falun Gong. He was illegally sentenced to three years of forced labor and detained at the Yiaojia Detention Center in Dalian City. His wife, Ms. Lu Guifang, was illegally sentenced to two years of forced labor and sent to the notorious Masanjia Forced Labor Camp in Shenyang. Their son Ma Xuhui was illegally sentenced to one year of forced labor and was detained at the Dalian Forced Labor Camp. They were tortured at the forced labor camps. The persecution continued after their release. Lu Guifang was released after being tortured to the brink of death at Masanjia Forced Labor Camp and passed away on November 26, 2003 at the age of 63. After Ma Xuhui was released, his workplace dismissed him from his position at the Tax Bureau in Yingkou City and revoked his rights as a public employee, so his salary was stopped for four years. Mr. Ma Tianyong was terminated by the National Security Bureau. He had been retired for years and could not work, so he lost his retirement benefits. His family was cut off from all sources of income. In addition, he was being monitored for a long time.
