Because she persuaded the police not get involved in the persecution of Falun Gong, she was sentenced to five years of imprisonment in a close-door trial just five days after her arrest.

In the forced labor camp, she refused to write the "five statements." As a result, the guard shocked almost all parts of her body for two hours.

Seventy-year- old Woman Sentenced to Five-year Jail Term

Seventy-year-old Ms. Li Yunhai from Penglai City, Shandong Province was arrested and sent to a brainwashing center around April 23, 2010. Just five days later, on April 28, she was tried behind closed doors and received a five-year prison sentence from Penglai Court.

She suffered from high blood pressure and was sent to Hospital 405 for treatment that evening. While hospitalized, she was placed under the surveillance of the place as well as staffs from her former workplace. She was handcuffed and shackled during her hospital stay.

Ms. Li Yunhai was working at Experimental School 2 in the city. She was repeatedly arrested for continuing to clarify facts about the persecution of Falun Gong. On the morning of May 29, 2008, eleven police officers forced their way into Ms. Li's home and confiscated computers and other personal property from the family before taking Ms. Li to a brainwashing center.

In August 2009, when Ms. Li Yunhai and her husband were distributing truth-clarification materials, they were arrested and detained at a police station. Meanwhile, Qu Yitao, head of the Domestic Security Team, had police ransack their home. Qu Yitao attempted to incarcerate Ms. Li in the detention center, but she failed the health examination. The detention center refused to accept her, Qu Yitao thus extorted 10,000 yuan from her daughter before releasing Ms. Li.

In late November 2009, Ms. Li went to the Domestic Security Team to explain the truth behind the persecution of Falun Gong to Qu Yitao, and asked him not to get involved in persecuting kind-hearted people. As a result, on December 1, Ms. Li received a notice of intended prosecution. She had no choice but to leave home to avoid being arrested.

The city police used various methods including telephone interception and surveillance to track down Ms. Li and arrest her. The depraved authorities hastily sentenced her to five years in jail.

Ms. Zhang Shuying Tortured with Electric Batons at Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhang Shuying, from Miqizi Town, Dehui City, Jilin Province, was arrested by the town police station when she visited her aunt on March 2, 2010. Afterwards the police ransacked Ms. Zhang Shuying's home and took away two personal computers, one monitor, a CD writer, and eleven hundred yuan in cash.

Only Ms. Zhang Shuying's mother, a seventy seven-year-old woman, was at home at the time. She was unable to observe all that went on, as she has difficulty walking with a stick. The deputy chief of Miqizi Police Station also confiscated one hundred and twenty yuan hidden in a glove.

Ms. Zhang was handcuffed to a radiator at the police station. The police slapped her face, pulled her hair very hard, and poured water on her neck. They even wiped her mouth with mustard oil. Ms. Zhang was subsequently sent for one and a half years of detention at a forced labor camp.

The deputy chief of Miqizi Police Station sent Ms. Zhang Shuying to Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp in Changchun City, Jilin Province on March 19, 2010. When Ms. Zhang asked about her money, the deputy chief kicked her very hard and shouted at her, "Who has seen your money!"

On April 12, 2010, someone came to Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp to visit Ms. Zhang Shuying. When Guard Zhou Zhanhong asked Ms. Zhang who the visitor was, Ms. Zhang answered that she was her niece. The guard then assumed that she was lying. At 1:00 p.m. that day, Zhou Zhanhong forced Ms. Zhang to write the "five statements" (similar to the three statements). Ms. Zhang refused to comply. As a result, Zhou Zhanhong shocked her with electric batons. She was shocked continuously from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Almost all parts of Ms. Zhang's body were shocked, including her mouth, arms, chest, and her lower abdomen and thighs. Yan Lifeng, the captain of the group, was also present at the time.
