Apart from suffering tortures and brainwashing, Falun Gong practitioners are forced to do slave labor. Younger ones are making automobile parts, older ones packing candies in a horrible sanitary environment. Those who miss quotas will be punished.

Falun Gong practitioners are tortured at Chongqing Women's Forced Labor Camp. In addition, they are subjected to brainwashing and forced to do hard labor for the camp's financial gain. The labor camp uses the following three stages to persecute and to force them to do slave labor.
Stage 1: Training and Discipline
As soon as a Falun Gong practitioner arrives at the labor camp, arrangements are made for drug addicts to monitor the practitioner around the clock. The practitioners are forced to stand and squat in military formation during the day and are forced to write a "thought report" at midnight. The schedule was changed between April and May 2009. Practitioners were forced to write a "thought report" before 11:00 p.m. and go to bed at 11:00 p.m. The drug addicts take turns monitoring the practitioners and the lights of all the cells must be kept on during sleep time. The so-called "transformed" practitioners are locked in cells on the second floor, and new inmates, as well as practitioners who refuse to be "transformed" are locked in cells together with the drug addicts on the third floor. The practitioners must have their back to the wall when sleeping at night. Practitioner Zhang Zhengying was beaten in January of this year by drug addict Shen Hong because she faced the wall while sleeping.
Under the instigation from the corrupt camp guards, the drug addicts beat and verbally abuse practitioners at will. Drug addicts Zhang Hui and Li Jing beat practitioner Ms. Hu Liangjie until she vomited because she refused to write a "thought report." Ms. Hu, in her fifties, had been detained at the labor camp since May 2008. Drug addict Wang Haiyan often beat practitioners, and once beat practitioner Ms. Zhang Jie so hard that Ms. Zhang could not lift her arm. Drug addict Feng Xueshuang once abused practitioner Tang Shizhen by forcing her to stand-up and squat-down 400 times. Drug addict Li Fengqiang forced practitioner Yang Zhongqin to eat the notebook in which she had been forced to write the thought report during the period of "training and discipline."
Falun Gong practitioners who refuse to be "transformed" are persecuted by being locked up in small confinement cells. In these small cells the practitioners are not allowed to sleep in beds, and have to sleep on the floor, or be brutally beaten. Sixty-nine-year-old practitioner Qiu Shengshu was once locked in a small cell.
Stage 2: Brainwashing
Every day, two or three "education helpers" (brainwashing assistants) force the Falun Gong practitioners to read books and other materials that slander Falun Gong. The practitioners are also forced to attend brainwashing sessions every day and write "thought reports" every night. After they have been subjected to brainwashing for a month, the practitioners are coerced to write the three statements.
The so-called "transformed" ones are then locked in cells on the second floor and sent to the workshops to do slave labor. They are subjected to brainwashing sessions for two hours every day and must write "thought reports" every night. They are subjected to brainwashing for one or two more months.
The practitioners who refuse to be "transformed" are subjected to further persecution by the labor camp.
Stage 3: Forced Labor
Products of forced labor:
Various candies are wrapped at the labor camp. The candies shown above are popular for wedding celebrations.
The labor camp subjects practitioners to forced labor. Camp guards send the younger practitioners to the rubber shop to make parts for Chongqing Changan Automobile. In December 2008, they changed to making parts for electrical wire installation.
The older practitioners are sent to the candy shop to wrap candies, and have to meet a high hourly quota. In December 2009, camp guards raised the quota again, adding 0.5 kg (1.1 pound) to the hourly quota. The practitioners who are 45 years of age and younger must wrap 5 kg (11 pound) of candy every hour. The practitioners who are 46 to 60 years of age must wrap 4.5 kg. Practitioners who are 61 to 65 years of age must wrap 3 kg, and practitioners who are 66 years of age or older must wrap 2.5 kg per hour. If one misses the quota by nine hours in one week, she is forced to sit upright for two hours every night as punishment if she is over 60 years old, forced to stand for two hours every night if she's younger than 60 years old. The guards also oversee monthly inventory and production records on the 24th of each month, and the bottom three producers on the amount finished list, even though they have finished their quota, have their credit reduced and are forced to write "self-criticisms."
The candy wrapping in Ward 4 is kept hidden from the outside. The candy barrel and the board used for the candy wrapping are filthy and covered with mildew. Mouse excrement is often seen mixed in with the candies. When the higher authorities come to inspect, the camp guards hide all the candies behind the last two doors on the bottom floor in the shop for making the fittings for electric wiring installation. It was said that the National Labor Bureau was conducting a comprehensive inspection which lasted twenty days in August, 2009. The ward took away all the candy barrels and candy wrappers on August 16. Hu Xiaoyan, CCP secretary of the camp, personally threatened over 200 laborers, "If the superior officials ask what kind of work you do in the factory, you are to say that you are making fittings and paper cartons. Don't say candy wrapping. Whoever says 'candy wrapping' will suffer the consequences of having your term extended."
