On the morning of December 8, 2009, officers from the Domestic Security Team of Linqu County Police Department, along with Yeyuan Town Police Station chief Gao Jun broke into Ms. Zhang Chengmei's home and arrested her. They confiscated Falun Gong books and materials and stole the key to her home.

In the afternoon, they ransacked her home again, this time confiscating money found in her drawer. Ms. Zhang was detained at the County Detention Center, sentenced to forced labor before New Year's Day, and taken to Wangcun Forced Labor Camp. She died around February 3, 2010.

Ms. Zhang's body was forcibly cremated under police control. Her family is suffering in deep sorrow and are reluctant to talk about her death. The cause of her death and how she was mistreated are under investigation.
