Because Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhou Huimin was tortured to death by the domestic security agents in Wuhou District, Chengdu City through torture while extorting a confession, the families and friends of Gu Huaibing hope that the public will pay attention to Gu's case to prevent a similar tragedy from happening again.

Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Gu Huaibing was arrested at his job by officers from Tiaosanta Police Station on the evening of July 21, 2009, and he was detained on criminal charges the next day. On August 5 and 6, his lawyer requested a meeting with him but was turned down by the team leader of the Domesticl Security Team in Wuhou.

On August 13, two attorneys, Lan zhixue and Li Jinglin, brought suit against the Procuratorate of Chendu City and the relevant departments. The leader of the Domesticl Security Team violated the law by denying the requested meeting between his attorney and Mr. Gu, hindering the attorney and illegally depriving the attorney of his right to see his client.

There was another instance where the Domestic Security Team in Wuhou District violated the law in the case of eleven Falun Gong practitioners including Zhong Fangqiong. Between the summer and the fall of 2007, eleven Falun Gong practitioners including Zhong Fangqiong were arrested by the Domesticl Security Team at their homes, at their jobs, and while on their way to work. Almost all were imprisoned at a brainwashing center in Chengdu City for over two months. The brainwashing center itself is an illegal place which has no right to restrict the freedoms of people. The attorneys for the eleven Falun Gong practitioners pointed out that, "The imprisonment of our clients in any kind of brainwashing center are open crimes."

Besides imprisonment, in the brainwashing center, the so-called "inspectors" from the Domesticl Security Team illegally set up an interrogation room and severely tortured practitioners. The cruelty is beyond description. According to the in-court statement by Zhong Fangqiong, the agents of the Domesticl Security Team including Wang Pengfei, Yuan Maojie, and others tortured her using handcuffs, a strong light shone directly into her eyes, deprivation of sleep for 24 hours and all kinds of wicked and cruel torture for over two weeks. In addition, they used torture tools to stab her back and thighs, and struck her face using their fists and spindles. She passed out twice from the torture. They then spread black mustard on her already distorted face, on her eye lids, temples, lips and nostrils, which disfigured her face even more.

Liu Jia and other Falun Gong practitioners also stated in court that the torture they suffered including deprivation of sleep for fifteen days, having mustard spread on them, the muscles of their inner thighs pinched, etc. Zhou Huimin, a practitioner who was arrested along with Zhong Fangqiong, was persecuted to death by the hospital designated by the detention center. Given the reasons above, over ten attorneys from Beijing proposed reporting the fault of Wuhou District Police Precinct -- the superior level of the Domesticl Security Team.

The attorney for Zhong Fangqiong stated, the so-called cases for Zhong Fangqiong and other Falun Gong practitioners are, "The reflection of the reality that individuals from national security organizations violate human rights. In other words, these cases were concocted by those people."
