Seventy Year-old Ms. Li Mengshu Dies after Imprisonment in Sichuan Province

Ms. Li Mengshu, 70, lived in Jiangcheng Town, Jianyang City, Sichuan Province. On March 15, 2007, when she went to Zhouchang area in Yangma Town to clarify the truth about Falun Gong, he was arrested by Yan Yiquan, Luo Jiao, Lu Hui, and Chen Ke from Yangma Town Police Station and the Domestic Security Team of the city police department.

She was detained in Jianyang City Detention Center. Her family went to request her release, but the police refused them. Her family demanded that they show legal documents, but the agents would not issue any. Instead, they told her family, "Go ahead and sue us!"

Ms. Li's husband could not take the stress. He got sick and died on April 22, 2007. Ms. Li was not allowed to say goodbye to him. On June 8, 2007, Ms. Li was sentenced to three and a half years in prison and sent secretly to the 6th Ward of the Chengdu City Women's Prison on July 26, 2007.

After the sentencing, Ms. Li's salary was withheld. The guards did not allow her to practice Falun Gong and brutally tortured her until her life was in danger several times. The prison administration saw that she could not take care of herself, and in fear of being held responsible for her death, ordered the Jianyang City Police Department to pick her up. However, the latter delayed doing so for three months. The prison had to take her home in January 2009. She died at 4:00 a.m. on April 21, 2009.

Forced to Take Unknown Drugs in Chongqing City Shabao Women's Forced Labor Camp

All the Falun Gong practitioners currently held in Chongqing City Shabao Women's Forced Labor Camp are being detained at the 4th Ward. Inmates are under orders to monitor the practitioners around the clock, and they can beat practitioners at their will. The practitioners are forced to stand or squat like soldiers for long periods of time. They are only allowed to take a shower once a week. They are forced to undergo brainwashing every day, which involves being forced to listen to theories that defame Falun Gong or read books that defame Falun Gong.

Practitioners who refuse to renounce Falun Gong are deprived of their rights and tortured. The camp guards don't allow them to meet with their families or call them. They are forced to stand every day from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. with only 10-minute breaks for meals. The inmates can extend the standing time at will.

In June 2009, all practitioners were forced to take blood tests. Most were diagnosed with high blood pressure or other illnesses, even though they were not ill. All of these practitioners were forced to take medication (small yellow tablets) even though they were not ill. Anyone who refused to take the medication was beaten and forced to take it. Sometimes, four or five inmates held down practitioners to force-feed them. If the force-feeding failed, they put the medication in practitioners' meals without their knowledge. The cries and noise from the force-feeding were heard outside the building.
