  • On August 17, 2009, Mr. Li Yong, a Falun Gong practitioner from Xianning City, Hubei Province, was beaten by three local security guards. His condition has continued to deteriorate but he has not been released.

  • Ms. Zhu Hailing, 28, a Falun Gong practitioner, and her three sisters from Yongji County in Jilin Province were illegally arrested on September 15, 2009 at their family home. Ms. Zhu was sentenced to one year of forced labor.

    On August 17, 2009, Mr. Li Yong, a Falun Gong practitioner, from Xianan District, Xianning City, Hubei Province, was beaten by three local security guards after they saw him distributing truth clarification materials about Falun Gong. After they beat him, they took him to Henggou Police Station.

    On August 18, the police station and the Domestic Security Team of Xianan Police Precinct detained Mr. Li, who had wounds all over his body due to tortures, in Xianan District Detention Center.

    To protest the persecution, Mr. Li went on hunger strike. As a result of his silent protest, he was force-fed. Ignoring the fact that he was in poor physical condition due to the torture, the 610 Office in Xianan District and the Domestic Security Team sentenced him to a forced labor camp for one year. On September 28, when he was sent to Shayang Forced Labor Camp, the labor camp refused to take him because he failed the physical examination.

    However, the police still refuse to release him and continue to detain him. Currently Mr. Li's condition is critical.

    People who have been involved in the persecution of Li Yong include Zheng Chizhong, Wang Jian and others from Henggou Police Station, and Zeng Guohua, Fan Zhong, Xu Chengzhong, and others from the the Domestic Security Team of Xianan Police Precinct.

    Ms. Zhu is in Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp in Changchun City, Jilin Province. Her father, Mr. Zhu Jingyun, was forced to leave his hometown and live elsewhere in order to avoid further persecution.

    Ms. Zhu, 28, lives in Chaluhe Town, Yongji County, Jilin Province. She started to practice Falun Gong in 2005. She has benefited from the practice both physically and mentally.

    At 3:50 a.m. on September 15, 2009, Captain Zhu Zhaohong from the Domestic Security Team of Yongji County Police Department, Chief Liu Zhunpeng from Chaluhe Town Police Station, and several officers surrounded Ms. Zhu's home and her family's household electrical appliance shop in Chaluhe Town. The police broke the windows of her home and her family's shop and entered through the windows.

    They ransacked her residence and her family's shop. From the shop, the police confiscated two computers, a color printer, many music CDs, and Ms. Zhu's cell phone. From her home, the police confiscated at least 21,500 yuan in cash, four bank cards, a DVD player, new digital cameras, a satellite antenna receiver, a mini-stereo, four mobile phones, a case of printing paper, receipts, loan documents, the household registry book, her father's name stamp, her father's and her identity cards, five copies of Zhuan Falun, and more.

    Ms. Zhu's young brother, Mr. Zhu Boyuan, who is handicapped and bedridden, asked the police, "Do you have a search-warrant and the legal documents? If you don't, it is illegal for you to search our home." One of the police hit Mr. Zhu twice with a pillow.

    When the police confiscated Ms. Zhu's family belongings, her mother said to the police, "You cannot take our family belongings. The 21,500 yuan is our rent money for our shop." A police officer ordered her not to talk and hit her. They used abusive language while confiscating things from Ms. Zhu's home.

    The police arrested Ms. Zhu and her three sisters. Her three sisters were released, but Ms. Zhu was held in Yongji County Detention Center for 15 days. On September 29, 2009, she was sentenced to one year of forced labor and taken to Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp.
