Suizhou City Police Arrest Three Practitioners in Hubei Province

On the evening of April 8, 2008, team leaders Li Jinbo, Geng Jun, Zhang Yong, and Zhong Wen from the Zengdu Station of Suizhou City Police Department in Hubei Province arrested three Falun Gong practitioners, including Ms, Zhang Ling from Junchuan Town, Suizhou, Ms. Li Yun from Nanjiaoguayuan, and Mr. Fu Guoqi from Wuhan City.

The police confiscated Zhang Ling and Ms. Li Yun's property in their rented rooms, and also stole over a thousand yuan that Ms. Li Yun had on her in cash. The deposit receipt that Ms. Li Yun paid to her workplace was also confiscated. When Ms. Li Yun's mother went to ask for it, they said they already handed it in. As to where they handed it in and when they will return it, there was no answer.

The three arrested practitioners were jailed at the Suizhou City Detention Center for over a month. When Ms. Li Yun's mother went to the public security bureau to ask for her, the policemen Li Jinbo, Liu Guoqing and Liu Shunqing said the case was transferred to the Judicial Department. They tried to sentence the three practitioners.

When Ms. Li Yun's mother asked them why they arrested and jailed people so randomly, they answered that it was found that there was a dish set up at Li Yun's rented room that received New Tang Dynasty Television (NTDTV), saying that this can receive overseas information. They also found DVDs of the NTDTV Spectacular. They said that this was criminal evidence that they have been working together with overseas forces, and that the problem was serious, etc.. Li Yun's mother said: "You spent the taxpayers' money in blocking the internet, and controlling the Chinese people. You are afraid of us knowing outside information. Every citizen has his right to information. We did not commit any crimes. You are abusing the law to persecute good people. You are actually committing crimes while knowing the law." The police had no words of reply; they hid away since they were afraid to see anyone.
