Mr. Zhao Yancheng's Family Repeatedly Persecuted, His Son Suffers a Mental Breakdown

Mr. Zhao Yancheng is a Falun Gong practitioner in Qiaoguan Town, Weifang City, Shandong Province. He and his family have been persecuted repeatedly by CCP. Mr. Zhao was imprisoned in a forced labor camp and was not released until being tortured to the brink of death. Recently, he was forced into becoming homeless and destitute in order to avoid being arrested at home. His daughter was arrested and his son suffered a mental breakdown due to the persecution.

Mr. Zhao's daughter, Zhao Huamei, runs a store in the Gem City. On the morning of March 10, 2008, CCP officials from Qiaoguan Town and Qixi Village in Weifang City, accompanied by five or six policemen and the head of the Chengdong Police Station in Changle, rushed into the store and took Ms. Zhao away without presenting any documents. They also searched the store and her home, taking a TV, a VCD player, and Falun Gong books. Ms. Zhao Huamei was taken to the Chengdong Police Station and bound to an iron chair with handcuffs and shackles.

At about 1 p.m., instructor Liu Xingji from the Qiaoguan Police Station and four policemen rushed into the store run by Mr. Zhao Yancheng. The police took away pictures of Master Li, Falun Gong books, and two MP3 players. They intended to arrest Mr. Zhao, but they did not find him. Later on, Liu Xingji went to the store a couple of times and threatened Zhao Yancheng's wife, "If Zhao Yancheng goes to Beijing (to appeal), we will destroy your family."

Afterwards, the police ordered her to dismantle the store, claiming that it was impeding access to the street. Actually, Mr. Zhao Yancheng's store was legal, but the local officials have repeatedly forced him to dismantle it.

In 2002, Feng Aihua, the CCP secretary in Qiaoxi Village at that time, failed to force Mr. Zhao Yancheng to dismantle the store. As a result, he had it in for Mr. Zhao. In 2003, Feng Aihua and Qiaoguan Town officials detained Mr. Zhao for a month because of it. In 2007, Feng Aihua sold the field where Mr. Zhao's family planted crops for their own food, as well as their one-acre orchard. Mr. Zhao's son, Zhao Hualong, ran the orchard. When he asked Feng Aihua how Feng would compensate him for his loss. Feng replied that he would not give him a penny.

On March 13 and 14, 2008, Feng Aihua beat Mr. Zhao Hualong as he forced him to chop down the trees in the orchard. The multiple pressures of his father becoming homeless and destitute, the arrest of his younger sister, the dismantling of the store, and the chopping down of the trees in the orchard led Zhao Hualong to suffer a mental breakdown. He started beating people and smashing things. As a result, he was sent to a mental hospital.

Two Falun Gong Practitioners Arrested in Shenyang City

At around 1:30 a.m. on March 23, 2008, several police officers from Hushitai Town Police Station in New Shenbei District, Shenyang City rushed into the home of Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Niu Guifang in Qianzhantun Village. The police arrested her, along with her husband and her niece. They ransacked the house and found nothing. At the same time, practitioner Ms. Ren Xiuqin was also arrested in Hushitai Town.

Ms. Niu and Ms. Ren were first detained in Hushitai Police Station and then in Huishan Hotel in Shenyang City. Ms. Niu Guifang's husband and niece were later released.

With the approach of the Olympic Games, the Chinese Communist Party has sent out secret orders to closely monitor Falun Gong practitioners from March to September. Many practitioners have been arrested in various provinces. On March 20, Shenyang City Police Bureau held a meeting that police chiefs from all police stations in Shenyang City were required to attend. They were told to closely monitor Falun Gong practitioners and petitioners who might go to Beijing to appeal before the Olympic Games. The police were given permission to beat Falun Gong practitioners and petitioners. If practitioners and petitioners went to Beijing to appeal, the local police chief would immediately be removed from office.

The arrests of Niu Guifang and Ren Xiuqin were premeditated. On March 14, police officer Wang Dali from Hushitai Town Police Station harassed Ren Xiuqin and threatened her, "Do not go out during the two congressional conventions. I will monitor you every day."

At 9:00 a.m. on March 15, Cui Guoyou, the former leader of Qianzhantun Village, brought two policemen to the village--Lu Bo and Wang Qiang, who claimed to come from the town government. Lu climbed on the roof of Niu Guifang's house and monitored her from there. He tried to escape when he was noticed by Ms. Niu. Ms. Niu caught him and he then revealed his identity and the identities of Wang Qiang and Cui Guoyou.

This was not the first time Ms. Niu and Ms. Ren were harassed and taken into custody by local officials. Ms. Niu and Ms. Ren are well-known by villagers for their kindness. But they have been brutally persecuted by local CCP officials, including a local judiciary assistant, Zhu Yunchao.

Ms. Niu and Ms. Ren had been illegally detained twice and sentenced to forced labor. In July 2003, officers from the village police station went to Ms. Niu's house and tried to arrest her. They searched everywhere and could not find her, so they confiscated her Falun Gong books and exercise tapes. This unprovoked harassment stirred up much anger among villagers and Ms. Niu's neighbors.

After the incident, she went to the police station to reason with them and was detained at the police station and later at the 610 Office

Ren Xiuqin came from Shuanglouzi Village. On the night of July 7, 2006, officers from Hushitai Town Police Station (Li Meng, Wang Dali and He Xichun) arrested Ren at her home. They also confiscated her computers, Falun Gong books, and truth-clarifying materials about Falun Gong. They sent her to the brainwashing center at Zhangshi Forced Labor Camp. She was tortured by various methods, including beatings with a leather whip that was dipped in cold water.
