Ms. Li Shujie from Hailun City, Heilongjiang Province, Arrested and Force-fed Alcohol

At about 4:00 p.m. on March 7, 2008, when Ms. Li Shujie, a Falun Gong practitioner from Hailun City, Heilongjiang Province, was at work, a group of officials led by Zhao Yunfeng from the Domestic Security Team of Hailun City Police Department deceived her into coming out of the machine shop and then forced her into a car. They took her to a small, two-story building where Falun Gong practitioners were brutally mistreated.

In this building there are iron chair torture apparatus, thick, double-layer curtains, and several separate rooms. Five of the persecutors put Ms. Li in an iron chair and restrained her hands behind her back. They force-fed her about 500g of liquor and a bottle of mustard oil. They also put lit cigars into her nostrils and tried to force her to smoke. They did this several times, so Ms. Li was force-fed nearly 1,000g of liquor and one and a half bottles of mustard oil. Her mouth was tied tightly with a towel, causing her lips and mouth to crack and break.

The persecutors used their fists to rub her ears back and forth and did the same on her ribcage. They called it "playing a piano." They beat her about her entire body with a small white plastic club. As a result, she was covered with black marks. The handcuffs cut into her wrists and left her with obvious scars. To this day, her hands still hurt greatly and are numb. Thus, Ms. Li Shujie has lost the ability to work.

The other practitioners tortured at the same time were Qin Lanyan, who was beaten for three days, Shi Ying, Liu Deqing, and Zhang Shuyan.

Mr. Li Guochen from Changchun City Arrested and Tortured

On March 17, 2008, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Li Guochen from Changchun City, Jilin Province was arrested and tortured by the local police because he distributed truth-clarifying materials about Falun Gong.

Mr. Li Guochen, 34, lives in Houluo, Fengchan Village, Yutan Town, in the Development District of Changchun City. At around 9:00 p.m. on March 17, Mr. Li Guochen drove to Sihe Village, Yingjun Township, Erdao District to distribute truth-clarifying materials and to hang banners saying "Falun Dafa Is Good." He was arrested by a patrolman from Yingjun Police Station. Mr. Li was interrogated and tortured by the police for the entire night. He was beaten until his face and body were black and blue and one of his teeth was knocked out.

On the second day, Mr. Li Guochen's family members requested his immediate release but the police had already imprisoned him in Weizigou Detention Center in Changchun City. His family requested the return of his car, which is valued at more than 10,000 yuan, but the police refused. Mr. Li's family members went to Weizigou Detention Center to visit him that same day and the detention center extorted 100 "yuan" from them for "food expenses."

Mr. Li Guochen has been practicing Falun Gong since 1999. That July, when the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started the persecution of Falun Gong, Mr. Li was detained and sent to brainwashing centers many times. When Mr. Li went to Beijing in 2000 to clarify the truth, the police arrested him and beat him with steel cables. On February 4, 2002, the CCP police took Mr. Li from his home to a detention center. Several days later he was sentenced to one year in prison in Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp. Even after he was released, he was still often monitored and harassed by CCP agents.

Mr. Li has a five-year-old child, who looks for his dad every day. Mr. Li's mother has been senile for ten years and she cannot take care of herself. Due to the high pressure from the persecution, Mr. Li's father suffers from heart disease and is still recovering from heart surgery. His son's arrest causes him huge additional suffering.
