Ms. Li Yumei and Ms. Zhang Yufeng Held in Luquan Prison, Hebei Province

Ms. Li Yumei from Jiubao Village in Wanquan County, Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province, has been arrested twice and detained three times because she practices Falun Gong. On June 28, 2007, Ms. Li was arrested and brutally beaten by Jiang Aiguo and Rong Bin from the National Security Team in Wanquan County. When her daughter, Ms. Zhao Yunfei, tried to stop the men from beating her mother, she was also arrested and detained for 15 days. Agents from the Wanquan County Political and Judiciary Committees, the police, and the procuratorate and court officials all colluded to sentence Ms. Li Yumei to six years in prison. On December 27, 2007, she was taken to the Luquan Women's Prison in Shijiazhuang City.

Ms. Zhang Yufeng, a resident of Yujialiang Village, Wanquan County, was watched and repeatedly harassed by agents from the village administration committee and the police station because she continued to practice Falun Gong after July 20, 1999. In November, 2001, she was arrested and taken to Wujiayao Brainwashing Center. Ms. Zhang went on a hunger strike to protest this form of abuse and was released seven days later.

On April 28, 2007, Ms. Zhang was arrested as she was planting corn in the fields. Her house was ransacked and her husband, Mr. Yu Xianwu, was also arrested. Officer Rong Bin from the National Security Team beat Ms. Zhang in the face with an electronic baton to try to force her to reveal the location of the site from which she had obtained Falun Gong fliers. As a result, her face was severely blistered and swollen.

Ms. Zhang was put on trial in court twice, on July 31, and October 15, 2007. She insisted that she was not guilty and demanded to be released without any conditions. The court officials said that they were not able to change the verdict, claiming that the decision had been made by higher officials. On December 14, 2007, an agent from the Zhangjiakou Detention Center informed Ms. Zhang's family that she had been sentenced to five years in prison and she was detained in Luquan Women's Prison in Shijiazhuang City.

Physician from Tangxia Town, Rui'an City, Arrested by 610 Office Police Again and His Home Ransacked

Mr. Zhou Xiaobo, 31 years old, was a physician at Tangxiao Town Hospital in Rui'an City, Zhejiang Province. On November 7, 2007, he was arrested by the local 610 Office and his home was ransacked.

In 2005, Dr. Zhou was "illegally imprisoned." After his release, the hospital's administration arranged for people to monitor his daily activities and he was forced to give up his job. Currently, his address is: 80 Baotianshangyeda Street, Tangxia Town, Rui'an City, Zhejiang Province.

Between 8 and 9 a.m. on November 7, 2007, Dr. Zhou left to buy some medicine for his father who has lung cancer and has been in a hospital for six months. During this time, Dr. Zhou has had to care for his father and manage his medical practice at the same time.

The police ransacked all six floors of the house. Two officers kept Dr. Zhou on the first floor in order to prevent him from intervening.

They confiscated Falun Gong books, DVD and video tapes of Master Li's lectures, an electronic book, and a flash drive. The policemen took pictures of his home. After searching, they told Dr. Zhou to sign an arrest warrant attached to a search warrant. They recorded everything that they confiscated. However, the arrest and search warrants were only imprinted with a vague "Rui'an City Police Department" stamp and Ye Wangqing's personal stamp in blue. There was no signature on the warrants, which could very well have been forged.

After their search, the police handcuffed Dr. Zhou. Around 11 a.m. they took him to the First Division of Rui'an City Police Department.

A week ago, another practitioner from Mayu Town, Rui'an City, was arrested around 1 p.m. His home was ransacked around 3 p.m.

Note: From the start of the persecution in 1999, Zhao Hongjiao has beaten many Falun Gong practitioners. He has been exposed by the Minghui website (Chinese version of Clearwisdom.net) many times. Currently, he has a skin disease. His face has turned even whiter than a piece of paper. Many believe that he is receiving karmic retribution for his crimes against Falun Gong.
