  • Ms. Cao Aihua From Xinjiang Murdered - Her Family Determined in Seeking Justice

After Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Cao Aihua from Aksu City, Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region died at the Women's Labor Camp of Xinjiang Army Corps in November 2006, her family members went through a sad and painful Chinese New Year. Her husband never thought his wife would be killed by police in only 10 days.

Ms. Cao's son has been guarding his mother's remains at the funeral parlor near Wujiaqu City, Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region for more than three months. The northern chill and the icy-cold room rented for 10 yuan per day could not suppress the son's call for something to be done for the injustice suffered by his mother.

Ms. Cao's family members unceasingly appealed to the Wujiaqu City People's Congress, the Procuratorate, the CCP Political and Judiciary Committee, the Forced Labor Bureau, and the Prison Bureau, but they have received no response or have been rejected. The Wujiaqu City Procuratorate Director, Song (male, first name unknown), and the CCP's head of the Women's Labor Camp, directly said to Ms. Cao's family that the investigation result had nothing to do with the family members. They refused to accept the family's requests with the excuse that the investigation result cannot be released to individuals. They said that the upper level authorities would do the same in Ms. Cao's case. The Wujiaqu City Procuratorate, the Forced Labor Bureau, and the Prison Bureau are in the same building, and they protect one another.

Ms. Cao has been to Beijing twice to appeal and clarify the truth about Falun Gong. She was mistreated and illegally sentenced to forced labor three times. The illegal detentions, nor her husband's concerns about her could destroy her will to practice Falun Gong. The local police extorted nearly 300,000 yuan from her family members with all kinds of excuses over the past several years, and all of it was borrowed by her husband from their relatives and friends. Her husband is unable to pay off these debts.

In the summer of 2006, Ms. Cao wrote statements to clarify the truth on Renminbi bills to promote the "three withdrawals," and was arrested in August 2006 by the police and then mistreated. In October 2006, she was forcefully taken to the forced labor camp for the third time. She was transferred to the Women's Labor Camp of Xinjiang Army Corps (located at Wujiaqu City nearby Urumqi City) on November 1, 2006, and continued to be mistreated. During this period, she was transferred often between the Police Departments of Aksu City and Allah City. Approximately two weeks after Ms. Cao was taken to the Women's Labor Camp of Xinjiang Army Corps, she died on November 13, 2006.

Ms. Cao's family members are requesting that the murderers be punished, but the related units divert responsibility to others or reject their requests. In grief and indignation, Ms. Cao's family have indicated that they will not give up their determination to punish the murderers, even if they have to go to the ends of the earth - they feel a responsibility to demand justice for Ms. Cao's death.

Mr. Wang Hongnan Died at Nanguanling Prison in Dalian City, Liaoning Province as a Result of Persecution

Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wang Hongnan from Anshan City, Liaoning Province died at the Nanguanling Prison in Dalian City, Liaoning Province on January 25, 2007 at the age of 37.

Mr. Wang Hongnan's sister received a phone call from the prison authorities in the afternoon of January 25. She immediately went to the prison and was told on arrival Wang Hongnan had already died. The officials told her to consent to cremation right away before she ever saw the body. She refused.

Wang Hongnan's sister met with the prison authorities again on January 26. She asked about her brother's cause of death. The officials said it was liver disease. The officials had never told the family prior to his death that Wang Hongnan was ill. Wang Hongnan's sister confronted the officials and asked, "Why didn't you treat him?"

The officials claimed there was no one to take care of him.

She asked, "Why didn't you inform the family?"

The officials presented a diagnosis, perhaps obtained when they took Wang Hongnan to the ER before he passed away. The data shown in the diagnosis makes no medical sense. After further investigation, a discrepancy was revealed between the time the prison officials claimed they took Wang Hongnan to the hospital and what the hospital's records as Wang Hongnan's admission time at the hospital. The exact cause of death requires further investigation.

The Family of Wang Bo Fights Her Illegal Sentence

On February 2, 2007, Ms. Wang Bo, practitioner from Shijiazhuang City in Hebei Province was sentenced to a five year prison term without any legal justification. The charge leveled against her by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) representatives read, "Crime of using evil cult to destroy law implementation." Her father Mr. Wang Xinzhong and mother Ms. Liu Shuqin were also sentenced to four years, under the same charge. Mr. Wang Bo's family firmly practicing Falun Gong, and believing in "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance" is not a crime. They do not accept this verdict. Ms. Wang Bo's family has appealed to Shijiazhuang Intermediate Court. On February 28, 2007, Judge Pei of Court 2 of Shijiazhuang Intermediate Court accepted the case. Staff from Changan District Court phoned Wang Xinzhong's counsel on March 3. The judge visited Mr. Wang Xinzhong at Zhao County Detention Center on March 6, and talked Mr. Wang Xinzhong into withdrawing his appeal. He told Mr. Wang Xinzhong that the decision has been made based on the evidence and that it did not matter how unjustly he was treated.

After the arrest, Mr. Wang Xinzhong was manipulated into confessing. He was physically attacked and threatened. He suffered great physical and mental harm. He was hospitalized for treatments. Mr. Wang Xinzhong applied for release on bail for medical treatment. Shijiazhuang Intermediate Court interviewed Ms. Wang Bo and mother Liu Shuqin at the detention center. The judge said both of them provided no written statement, and firmly resisted the illegal persecution.

At this time their relatives are looking for an attorney for Ms. Wang Bo and Ms. Liu Shuqin. Sadly to say, the CCP minions arrest lawyers who defend innocent practitioners. Recently, attorney Zhu Yubiao of Guangdong was claimed to be a "counter revolutionary" by the CCP minions for defending Falun Gong practitioners, and arrested and detained. Before this, several lawyers encountered various levels of harassment and worse for defending practitioners. See below information on a few of such brave lawyers:

    1. Attorney Guo Guoding of Shanghai was forced to move to Canada.
    2. Attorney Gao Zhisheng from Beijing was arrested, sentenced to a three-year prison term and is under house arrest in his hometown Shaanxi.
    3. Attorney Yang Zaixin of Guangxi was dismissed.
    4. Attorney Liu Ruping of Shandong was taken to Wangcun Forced Labor Camp in Shandong were he suffered torture.

Therefore, defense counsel for Ms. Wang Bo and Ms. Liu Shuqin has not been found so far.

On March 7, 2007, attorneys for Mr. Wang Xinzhong's case, Zhang Lihui and Li Shunzhang of Beijing, officially accepted to represent Ms. Wang. Attorney Zhang Lihui considers him to be innocent because of freedom of belief. He stated that one couldn't apply the for evil cult law mechanically to Falun Gong practitioners. The judicial interpretations of two high courts are worth questioning. The two attorneys met the judge at Shijiazhuang Intermediate Court, submitted legal procedure, consulted records and photocopied over 100 pages.

The two attorneys looked at the records, doubted the interrogation techniques and results and gave a verbal point of view to the judge:

    1. Violation of the judiciary process is obvious. The case was heard in Dalian, so it should go on trial in Dalian.
    2. The first hearing was delayed for nearly three months and then a verdict was rendered. This violated provisions of the judiciary process.
    3. The facts are unclear. Two of the three accused were not give a verdict. How can one just announce a verdict? According to existing law procedures, the case should be referred back to the Changan District Court and be heard there. Unfortunately, Judge Pei ruled that there would not be a second hearing. Both lawyers still put their opinion in writing
    4. The 360 flyers need to be examined for content. Immaterial evidence can't be regarded as material evidence, such as Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party, etc.
    5. Even if it is material evidence, one can't lump evidence for the three accused together, such as the 360 flyers. Such action is irresponsible. Legal precedence does not allow that all three are considered as one, although they are one family. Apparently, the two high judiciaries interpretation is that anything under 300 flyers is free from prosecution, so it appears the 360 flyers have gained importance.
    6. Regarding to the accused's personal belongings of 41,056 yuan and three boxes of clothes, they should have been turned over to the Changan District Court before the first trial. Yet, although the second trial is underway, these belongings have not been turned over to the court. It is our privilege that the trial not continue until the accused's belongings have been received.

According to people in the know,  Wang Bo family case has a "large impact." The second trial by the Intermediate Court is also only a formality. They can't make the final decision. Apparently the case has already been decided and the original sentence will stay.

The chief justice announced during the first trial's court proceedings that the relatives could collect the more than 40,000 yuan. The relatives went to Changan District Court many times to ask for the payment, but had to leave empty handed. The judge's hands were tied. He told them to go to the Political Security Group of Shijiazhuang City Police Department. Shijiazhuang City Police Department sent a written opinion to the court and did not allow the relatives to collect the money.
It is a quite usual phenomena that the CCP police put this kind of money into their own pocket.

Savages Committed by the 2nd Forced Labor Camp of Wangcun, Zibo City, Shandong Province

The 2nd Forced Labor Camp of Wangcun, Zibo City, Shandong Province has a total of eight teams. The Falun Gong practitioners are concentrated in the seventh and eighth teams. The police intentionally isolate these two teams from the others over the long-term. They use all kinds of brutal ways to persecute Falun Gong practitioners including electric shocks, hanging them up, locking them on the bed with their arms crossed, forcing them to sit on a small stool and facing the wall for a long time, not allowing them to sleep, forcing them to stand for a long time, brutally beating them, locking them in the solitary compartment, deceiving them, inciting them to be against each other, and so on.

Jing Xusheng, the team leader of the seventh team is one the four notorious policemen in the labor camp. In order to break practitioners' spirits, he forced the practitioners to labor, write down their "thoughts" on Falun Gong (they would be punished for writing anything positive), copy the contents of brainwashing videotapes, and take an "exam" on the material. Every Monday, policeman Wang Xinjiang incited a prisoner designated to search practitioners' beds and bags. Policemen Li Gongming, Wang Xinjiang and Song Nan incite the prisoners to persecute the practitioners. They also forced the practitioners to watch brainwashing videotapes.

On June 2006, more than 20 practitioners who were detained in the seventh team refused to take the exam and answer the questions slandering Falun Gong. Ten of them were sent to the "Strictly Monitored Team" to be detained, and the police used electric shocks to torture them. Practitioner Lin Yongshun from the Changyi County shouted loudly at the labor camp meeting that "Falun Dafa is good" and was locked in a solitary compartment for a long time. Even to this day, he is being detained in the second team. Several other practitioners were sent to the "Strictly Monitored Team" in the seventh team for three months.

During the three-month period, the police used several of the worst criminals including Wang Yonggang from Pingdu City and Ma Baojing from Weihai City to guard the practitioners 24 hours a day. The police frequently beat and yelled at the practitioners. They deprived the practitioners of their personal freedom and did not allow them to sleep. Policeman Wang Xinjiang and Li Gongming also searched the practitioners frequently. Practitioner Zhao Jinshan from Zibo City went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution. Policemen Jing Xusheng and Song Nankao bound him to a chair and used high-volt electricity to shock him for an hour. Zhao Jinshan sent forth righteous thoughts and the electric shocks did not work. The perpetrators then used pliers to open Zhao Jinshan's mouth and inserted a pipe, pulling it in and out to cause pain, to force-feed him many times.

Practitioner Zhang Feng (a teacher) from Liaocheng City was arrested by the local 610 Office. He used a hunger strike to protest the persecution for three years. Then he was sent from the hospital to the 2nd Forced Labor Camp of Shandong Province. The police used pliers and a pipe to torture him too. Right now Zhang Feng is still detained in the " Strictly Monitored Team" within the seventh team.

In summer 2006, a criminal did not allow practitioner Liu Bingyou from Changle County to go to the restroom and compelled him to defecate in his pants. Practitioners Zhao Jinshan, Su Shiyuan, Han Daxue, Liu Bingyou and others were bound to a bed with their arms crossed for a long time by policeman Li Gongming. Their wrists bled from being rubbed by the handcuffs. After Liu Bingyou was released from the bed, he could not straighten his back for a few months.

Song Haotian from Shanghe County and Hao Daxue from Jiaozhou County were arrested and sent to the forced labor camp. They refused to give up their belief, and were brutally tortured. They were deprived of sleep for a long time. The police forced them to sit on a small stool, put their hands on their legs, and keep the posture for a whole day. Han Daxue was forced to stand facing the wall and his legs were swollen after a few days. But the police forced him to stand for more than 50 days. Then the police sent them to the special group for "transforming" Falun Gong practitioners in the sixth team. Police Wang Xinjiang incited collaborators Shen Songkun from Weihai City and Li Xu from Zaozhuang City to deceive and brainwash the practitioners. The police also used a few criminals to threaten and beat them. The police forced them to sit on a small stool for a long time, and did not allow them to sleep until 3 a.m. and forced them get up at 5a.m. Han Daxue's buttocks had been rubbed raw from the torture, and he had an ache of the sciatic nerve for a long time. He could not sit or stand for more than a year.

Practitioner Xin Licai from Weihai City was locked in solitary compartment, and was tortured brutally because he wrote a Solemn Declaration. After he was locked in the solitary compartment for a month, he was transferred to the special group for "transforming" Falun Gong practitioners in the sixth team, and was guarded by criminals for a long time. He was forced to sit on the small stool and was deprived of the right to sleep. Right now he is still detained in the seventh team.

Practitioner Xue Yujun from Mengyin County stood up at the labor camp meeting to stop the police from slandering Falun Gong. He shouted loudly, "Falun Dafa is good!" Policeman Jing Xusheng locked him into the solitary compartment and tortured him for a week by hanging him up, and using an electric batons to beat him.

58-year-old practitioner Hao Zhiping from Kenli County was arrested and sent to the forced labor camp. He was deprived of the right of sleep, and was forced to face the wall for a long time. Once the police hung him with his arms crossed for two days straight. He is still detained in the "Strictly Monitored Team".

Policeman Li Gongming instigated conflicts between practitioner Jia Deting and his wife when Jia Deting's wife called him. Jia Deting was brutally beaten by policeman Li Gongming and prison guard Chai Xianggong since he clarified the truth to his wife, and told her over the phone that Falun Dafa is good. Practitioner Wu Fengyi was electric-shocked and hung up by the police since he wrote a Solemn Declaration (voiding the renouncement of Falun Gong he had earlier given the authorities). Later he was locked away in the special group for "transforming" Falun Gong practitioners in the sixth team. Police incited criminal Gu Xiaotian to tie Wu Fengyi to the chair and beat him. Wu Fengyi was seriously injured. Then they fed him poison that caused him to be in unconscious for a long time, and caused him bowel and urinary incontinence. When Wu Fengyi's wife visited him, he was still unconscious. Policemen Song Nan, Li Gongming, Jing Xusheng and Wang Xinjiang directly participated in the persecution. Policeman Li Gongming also deceived the practitioners in the labor camp meeting saying that the police took really good care of Wu Fengyi, even better than if they were taking care of their own family.

Practitioner Liu Quanyi was tortured by policeman Gao Chengwei with electric shocks many times because he wrote a Solemn Declaration. He was then sent to the eighth team. The team leader and other policemen in the eighth team bound him to a bed and did not allow him to sleep for 12 days straight. Then he was sent to the sixth team to be detained for a long time. Practitioner Liu Ruping, a lawyer from Jinan City was transferred from the eighth team to the seventh team since he did not compromise with the authorities. He even refused to watch the brainwashing videotape, and was locked in a solitary compartment. The police used electric shocks to torture him. His thigh was bruised very badly and his mouth was swollen severely. He could not eat for a long time. Right now he is still detained in the sixth team.

Practitioner Cao Yuguo from Rushan County was beaten badly on the face by policeman Gao Chengwei which caused him a severe headache that lasted a long time. Right now he is detained in the seventh team and is guarded by criminals.
