  • A Falun Gong Practitioner Recounts 3 Years of Persecution In Masanjia Forced Labor Camp

By a Falun Dafa practitioner in Liaoning Province, China

In December 2003, someone reported me to the police and I was arrested for clarifying the truth. I was illegally detained for 17 days. The police told me to sign a paper and they would let me go home, but they lied. I want to expose the three years of persecution I suffered at Masanjia Forced Labor Camp.

    Tiger Bench, Solitary Confinement

Four or five brainwashed collaborators were assigned to watch me when I first arrived at Masanjia, but they failed to "transform" me. They then tried physical tortures. They scratched and slapped my face and neck. They rode my shoulders and told me to sign my name to written statements slandering Falun Gong and teacher. I refused, so they grabbed me by my hair and smashed my head into a wall. That is how firm and unyielding practitioners are treated by the collaborators.

They force practitioners to sing songs and recite regulations, but I refused to cooperate with them. I wrote, "Falun Dafa is good!, Truth-Compassion-Tolerance is good!, Freedom of Belief! and It is illegal to persecute me!" on small pieces of paper.

I later refused to follow the prison guards' orders when they put me in a workshop. The punishment for not working was to sit on a small stool for a long period of time. Then they started beating me. The guard scratched the back of my hands with his nails until I bled. I shouted, "Falun Dafa is good!" He kicked me with his heavy boots. My hips hurt so much, I thought they were coming out of the sockets. He verbally abused me and asked why I wasn't working. I said, "I don't work here. If I want to work, I will work in society. Falun Dafa is good!"

The guard put me into solitary confinement. Four guards, including Zhang Zhuohui, Li Li, Zhang Xiurong and Wang Zhengli, tied me to the tiger bench. I could not stand up, sit or lie down. I ate dried up buns and preserved vegetables for 25 days. I was not given water or allowed to use the toilet. My pants were soaked in urine and feces. I was only wearing one layer of clothes, during the coldest days of 2004. I just shouted, "Falun Dafa is good!"

I refused to work after being released from solitary confinement. I would often shout, "Falun Dafa is good, Falun Dafa is righteous."

I was returned to solitary confinement for another 23 days. I was tied to the tiger bench. The guards did not allow me to wear winter clothes. My frozen feet turned purple and my hands were handcuffed to a hot heating pipe. My mouth was taped. They often used electric batons to shock my face, my hands, neck and forehead. The electric batons didn't shock me. The guards went crazy trying to shock me. They took away all my clothes, except my underwear. They were trying to freeze me. When I couldn't bear it, I would think, "Falun Dafa is good!" to strengthen myself.

The third time, I was in solitary confinement for 27 days. My hands were handcuffed. My feet, arms and legs were taped together. I could not move my body and my mouth was taped. They pushed me around and beat me. I fell to the ground when they pushed me. So, they pushed me toward the wall. I could only shake my head no, when the guards asked if I would "transform." They tied me to the tiger bench and continue to persecute me. I shouted, "Falun Dafa is good," non-stop. I was released from solitary confinement after 27 days.

Extra-Large Electric Baton Used to Shock Breasts

I continued clarifying the truth after I was released from solitary confinement. The guards would torture me whenever I clarified the truth. Xie Cengdong was the second in charge and led a group of guards, including Huang Haiyan. I was doing the fifth exercise one night, when they took me into an office. Xie had an extra-large baton in his hand. None of the regular size electric batons had any effect on me. Xie grabbed my hair and repeatedly punched my face. He handcuffed me to the heating pipe when he tired. He then sent everyone away and closed the door. He asked me about my family. I refused to answer. He got very angry and used the extra-large electric baton to shock my breasts. I felt a warm current flow to my feet and then felt normal. The electric baton could not shock me, but it did shock Xie. He threw the baton on the ground without turning it off. Only after midnight did Xie ask a female guard to turn off the baton. I remained handcuffed until 3:00 p.m. the next day. They put me into solitary confinement, so they could force-feed other practitioners. That time it was 27 days. I just did the exercises when they weren't persecuting me. The guards had put me back into the regular cells with all the other practitioners by 2005.

There, I would do the Falun Gong exercises and clarify the truth. The guards tried to force me to labor at peeling garlic, but I refused. They moved me to another cell. Xie Cengdong came to visit me and asked how I was doing. I said, "Fine." I wanted to clarify the truth to him, but he turned and left before I had a chance to open my mouth.

They found another way to persecute me in May 2005, because I refused to wear the prison uniform. The guards told me I was being released. I got into the car and they handcuffed me. I realized it was a trick. They took me to ordinary cells where they told the prisoners to beat me. They pushed my hands against the wall and started kicking my hands. A practitioner shouted, "Stop beating (my name)! Release her or I will go on hunger strike!" She kept shouting and shouting until they released me.

Burned by Lighters, Soaked in Water from the Toilet, Head Banged Against the Wall

I refused to report to them or work in the workshop, when the guards gave me orders. They kicked me in the lower part of my body and broke my ischium (a section of the hip bone). I passed out several times. The police tied me up to make me sit on a little stool. They tore my clothes off and left me in only my underwear. They dragged me around on the cement floor for at least 20 minutes. Bones could be seen at my knees and blood streamed down to my legs. They dragged me by my hair, and slammed my head into the wall. The policemen who participated in this round of abuse were Zhang Yu, Nie Lijuan, Yu Na and Xu Qiuxia.

They dragged me to a so-called hospital (a place which treats practitioners while allowing the police to continue persecuting prisoners and demand money from their families). I did not cooperate with them. I refused to take any medicine or injections. They told me, I had to put my fingerprint on a form saying that it's not their fault if I die.

Prisoner Wang Yibin burned me with a lighter every day. Many times she tied up my hands, covered my eyes and threw water from the toilet on me. She left me to soak for hours. She often beat me with towels and brooms, left me standing naked in cold weather, and carried out other methods of persecution. Sometimes I was covered with blood and my body felt like it was being fried in boiling oil.

    Ribs Broken Again and Again

Female guard Yu Na kicked me and broke one of my ribs. During the days, I kept clarifying the truth. The broken rib was healed within one week, but I could feel a bump there. Two weeks later the bump had disappeared. It was miraculous.

Every day I was validating Falun Gong. I refused to dress like a prisoner. Guard Wang Fengping kicked me and broke my rib again. It was healed in two weeks.

They wanted to send me to a mental hospital in the fall of 2005 for further persecution. They took me to Shenyang Neurosis Hospital. They found no neurosis during the checkup, so I was returned.

Frozen in the Snow for Nine Days Without Clothes

They again ordered me to work. I refused and kept clarifying the truth. They took off all my clothes, except my underwear. They opened the windows wide and locked the door. It was freezing cold. This went on nine days in a row, from dawn until 10:00 p.m. every day. It was winter and snowing outside.

On February 5, 2006, guard Zhang Yu beat me. I shouted "Falun Dafa is good." They dragged me to the restroom, took my clothes away and froze me for another nine days. Prisoner Wang Yibin said, "I'm going to beat you every day until you are dead or I'm released to go home." (Wang's behavior cost her karmic retribution. She suffered from multiple diseases afterward.) I clarified the truth every day and every day they tortured me. They taped my mouth shut to stop me from clarifying the truth. Wang Yibin used countless methods to torture me.

Steel Wires in Mouth, Force-fed Intoxicants

One day during the summer of 2006, five guards showed up. One called Pei Feng grabbed my hair, and two others held my arms, and another two held my legs. They dragged me upstairs and my back kept hitting the stairs. They dragged me to a storage room and locked me in. I was handcuffed so tightly that I could not move. Pan Guihou said they would let the mosquitoes sting me to death and she slapped my face with a flyswatter. I was shouting, "Falun Dafa is good." They locked me in there for four days and nights.

On July 1, 2006, police officer Wang called me over to a van. Six men jumped out and violently dragged me inside. I was taken to Liaoning Province Women's Forced Labor Camp. There they tortured me using all kinds of methods. They handcuffed one of my hands and dragged me around the floor, then handcuffed both hands and forcibly stretched them. They also force-fed intoxicants into me and taped my mouth shut. They took me into a room where many sentences slandering Falun Gong and Master Li were written on a board on the floor. They tried to force me to step on it, but I refused. They forced me to kneel down. They put on loud tape recordings slandering Falun Gong and Master Li. I recited, "Falun Dafa is good" repeatedly in my heart. The tape recorder went quiet.

At 5:00 p.m. that evening, the guards took me into a room. Seven men forced a prisoner's uniform on me. One of the men, whose name is Ma Qishan, put steel wires into my mouth and knocked out four of my teeth. Blood was everywhere. Ma threw away one of the teeth. I licked the other three with my tongue and they grew back instantly.

Afterwards, the perpetrators force-fed me some drug that usually caused severe stomachaches and vomiting. Then the victim would feel fuzzy-headed and do whatever they were told. I kept strong righteous thoughts and the drug did not work on me at all. Ma Qishan broke my wrist. I thought, "I will keep on validating Falun Gong." Then, I stretched my wrist and it healed right away.

Not Allowed to Sleep For Eight Days

I was dragged into another room by the guards where they continued to torture me from July 5 to August 11. The used all kinds of methods. Some of them are beyond what words can describe. They did not allow me to sleep for eight continuous days. I kept clarifying the truth. They put me on the tiger bench for 25 days. I thought, "Put down life and death," when I felt I could not bear it any longer. I just kept thinking, "Falun Dafa is good." They released me from the tiger bench on August 11.

On August 12, the guards took me to a workshop where some "transformed" practitioners were working. The police watched as I started to clarify the truth. Police officer Liu Yong stopped me. I said, "Falun Dafa is good." He said, "Shut up." I said, "I won't shut up. Falun Dafa is righteous." He took three flyswatters, held them together and beat my mouth. I kept talking until the flyswatters were broken. He kicked me, slapped me, punched me in the chest, handcuffed me to heating pipes and locked me up until 5:00 p.m.

"Stretching" - An Extremely Cruel Torture

At one point, I was persecuted to the point that I could not take care of myself, but I refused to be "transformed." They took me to another room for new methods of torture. Guard Liu Yong hung me up for several days. One day he said, "Let's do some physical exercises." He pulled on my arms until he dislocated the joints. They burned my nose and my hair, and used cigarettes to burn my hands. They used wires to hold my mouth open and inserted cigarette butts and dirty papers into it. They used needles to puncture my back, hands, arms and head. They hung me by my hands and tied my legs and feet. They used iron wires to tie my knees. It was an unbearable torture.

Police Tried to Get Me to "Donate" My Heart

In September they took me to Sujiatun. They told me, "You want to be a good person, then donate your heart." At that time I did not know that the evil Chinese Communist Party was removing organs from living practitioners and selling them for high prices. They phoned the hospital several times, but there were always excuses - no car, off work, or no driver. I survived one more time.

Persecution Every Day for Three Years

Three whole years and nine days passed and they finally released me. Before they released me, they had called my son and said, "Your mother died in the forced labor camp." My son went to the labor camp and asked for me. He was told, "Your mother is seriously ill." They said they paid my medical bill, and forced my son to pay them 600 yuan before letting him see me.

Above is only a part of the persecution I suffered. In fact, I was persecuted and tortured every day of those three years.

Right now my physical condition is recovering. My hands, arms, back and legs have not completely recovered, but they are recovering fast. I will keep reading Falun Gong books, read the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party, clarify the truth to save people and to do what a Falun Gong practitioner needs to do.

The perpetrators who took part in persecuting me during those three years include: Su Jing, Wang Naimin, Han Kai, Liu Yong, Zhang Jun, Zhang Jun (female), Gao Yanzhong, Wang Yanping, Ma Qishan, Liu Hui, Li Mingyu, Li Mingdong, Zheng Xiaogang, Huang Haiyan, Dai Yuhong, Wang Zhengli, and some others whose names I don't remember.

The Persecution of Falun Gong Practitioners in Guangzhou City Railroad System

Ms. Fan Zhijun, M.D., 54, is a Falun Gong practitioner from Huizhou, Guangdong Province. She is the head gynecologist at the Meishan Railroad Hospital in Guangdong Province.

Huizhou National Security Police illegally arrested her again on May 23, 2005. She has been imprisoned in the Boluo Detention Center, Huizhou. Dr. Fan held a hunger strike to resist the persecution, but the guards force-fed her. She became ill after suffering severe abuse and was twice sent to the Huizhou Central Hospital. Dr. Fan was diagnosed with Level 3 heart disease and had a high blood pressure reading of 220/160.

After Huizhou City 610 Office agents sentenced Dr. Fan to eight years in prison, deputy head Wang took the lead to subject her to heavy torture, and shackled and handcuffed her. Dr. Fan was sent to the Guangdong Women's Prison on September 30, 2006. She lost consciousness during transport.

Dr. Fan's family members observed during a visit that she had to use a cane, moved with difficulty, and was mentally foggy. One family member strongly requested her release, but the officials said she didn’t meet the conditions for release. Her family member inquired why, with her poor condition, she could not be released. The reply was that there were so many people like that, and besides, it was not up to the officials to make that decision.

The former Huizhou Railroad Police Department Section-I head Xu Zhiping arrested Tian Xiuyan, Fan Zhijun, Zhong Jiawen, Kuang Dongying, Wang Zaishu, Li Hua, Xiao Kai, Aunt Wu, Aunt Xian and other Falun Gong practitioners. In May 2005, Xu Zhiping directed and urged agents from the Huizhou National Security and the 610 Office to arrest Dr. Fan Zhijun’s entire family, attempting to extort a confession under duress. Dr. Fan’s son was detained for a month and had to endure the officials' threats.

Mr. Chen Jinzhuo is a Meishan Railroad employee. Huizhou Railroad Police Department Section-I head Xu Zhiping is primarily responsible for the persecution of practitioners who worked at the railroad. Xu arrested practitioners many times and directed criminals to torture Mr. Chen Jinzhuo until he became mentally ill.

Ms. Liang Zihui, about 40, was an administrator at the Guangzhou Railroad Workers’ Culture Theater. Her husband, Mr. Chen Ruichang, was the Guangdong TV Station editor-in-chief’s deputy director. Ms. Liang was imprisoned in the Guangzhou Women's Forced Labor Camp for two years.

Several Guangdong Industrial University Security officers arrested Ms. Liang on January 24, 2005. They pushed her to the ground and beat her. On January 27, the Guangzhou Tianhe Police Department 610 Office leader Xu Qingsong ransacked Ms. Liang's home but found nothing.

Ms. Liang was imprisoned in the Tianhe Detention Center on January 25, 2005. Her husband was forbidden to visit her.

The First Court at the Guangzhou Tianhe Court was planning to hold a hearing at 8:30 a.m. on June 8, 2005. According to the response from the people who had left the detention center, Ms. Liang Zihui was seriously impaired physically and mentally. Her family members requested her release for medical treatment, but were told that the court date was scheduled for June 16, 2005 and only then would they make a mental assessment. The court also refused to postpone the hearing. Later on, the persecutors sentenced Ms. Liang to four years in prison and incarcerated her in the Guangdong Women's Prison, where she suffered from brainwashing tactics in an attempt to make her renounce her belief in Falun Gong. Furthermore, she was deprived of sleep for extended periods and had to endure various methods of torture.

Ms. Liang Zihui once was arrested from her home near New Year’s Day 2001. Participating in the arrest were officers from the local Meihua Police Station. Many other practitioners were arrested from their homes or workplaces at that time. Ms. Liang was sent to the Guangzhou Chatou Women's Forced Labor Camp.

Practitioner Mr. Shan Jincheng, over 40, worked at Tianhe Engineering Section of the Guangshen Railroad Limited Company. He used to be the coordinator for the Baiyun area. Guangshen Company security officials and police officers arrested him in 2000. He was put into the Shenzhen Detention Center for several months, suffering from merciless beatings. He was again arrested on the street in March 2001 and sent to the Guangzhou Huadu Chini Forced Labor Camp for one year. Mr. Shan resisted the brainwashing persecution. After his prison term had expired, the officials transferred him to a Shenzhen Brainwashing Center in mid-April 2002. Policeman Jiang Yongxiong from the local East Police Station went to Mr. Shan Jincheng’s wife Xu Xiuling’s home to search and harass her many times.

The person responsible for Mr. Shan's persecution was 610 Office office section head Zhang Qingsheng.

Former Huizhou Railroad Police Department Section-I head Xu Zhiping actively participated in these acts of oppression and took 610 Office agents from the City’s National Security Bureau to practitioner Mr. Zhong Jiawen’s workplace and arrested him. He also led agents to search Mr. Zhong’s home in Guangzhou. When Mr. Zhong’s wife fainted and fell on the ground, Xu still compelled her, a non-practitioner, to hand over Falun Gong books and materials. Not finding any Falun Gong materials, Xu said the materials must have been transferred. Xu rushed back to the Huizhou Gu Tang-ao Detention Center to severely punish Mr. Zhong to extort information about any evidence, depriving Mr. Zhong of sleep for five days and torturing him severely. Mr. Zhong held a hunger strike to protest the persecution and was subsequently put in a forced labor camp for three years.

Mr. Zhong, over 50, was abused until he was critically ill; however, the personnel in Huizhou City refused to sign papers to permit him to seek medical care. He was eventually permitted to see a doctor, but he remains in poor health.

Mr. Shi Lei, over 40, is a practitioner from Guangzhou. In March 2000, officers from the local Meihua Police Station arrested Mr. Shi together with Mr. and Mrs. Julie, Mr. and Mrs. Lin Gang, Mr. and Mrs. Wang. They were sentenced to fifteen days of detention. After Mr. Shi’s term was over, he was transferred to criminal detention. On June 18, 2000, Guangzhou practitioners went out to appeal for Falun Gong. After they completed the five Falun Gong exercises, Mr. Shi was put into the Huadu Forced Labor Camp for two years. He is still imprisoned there.

Between September 12, 2005 and September 13, 2005, agents from the Guangzhou 610 Office and its police department intruded on residents’ homes in various Guangzhou areas. They arrested practitioners Shi Lei, Chen Xianzhang, Fan Haiqin and her younger brother and father, Chen Huiling, and others. Mr. Shi was sent to Guangzhou Brainwashing Center in Chatou and was beaten mercilessly. Mr. Shi now has partial memory loss. Both of his hands and feet lost sensation and his internal organs were injured. The officers attempted to prevent family visits.

Mr. Shi Lei’s family members noticed his emaciated appearance within a mere two weeks. The Brainwashing Center officials feared that their cruel persecution of Mr. Shi would be exposed. That is the reason they only consented to a visit of just a few minutes.

When Mr. Shi’s family members saw him, he was in an empty room alone, on a backless stool. There was table and a chamber pot, but not a bed. His family members asked, "Isn't he allowed to sleep?" The people monitoring the visit didn’t answer. After a while, someone quickly said, "Yes, we did let him sleep. We took him the folding bed in the evening." After Mr. Shi was beaten mercilessly, he requested a hospital examination of the injuries, but the brainwashing center officials disagreed. Mr. Shi was imprisoned in the Chatou Guangzhou Brainwashing Center for about a year.

Ms. Fan Xiaofeng, over 50, was a retiree from the Guangzhou Railroad Corporation. After the persecution began on July 20, 1999, she went to the capital to appeal for justice for Falun Gong. Because of her persistence in the belief of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, she was arrested and taken to the Guangzhou Brainwashing Center for persecution. At 11:00 a.m. on February 12, 2007, Ms. Fan was summoned by officials at the local Guangzhou Yuexiu District Nonglin Street Police Precinct. That evening, Ms. Fan was transferred to the Chatou Guangzhou Brainwashing Center. She has not returned home. Ms. Fan’s home had been constantly monitored for a long time. This time, the individuals who had arrested her were from the Communist Party Committee in the Guangzhou Railroad Corporation, as well as agents from the Security Office, the Guangzhou 610 Office, the Yue Xiu 610 Office, and individuals from the local Nonglin Street Police Precinct.

Ms. Huang Juxiang, over 50, was a Guangzhou Railroad Corporation retiree. She was arrested after July 20, 1999 for her persistence in her belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. She was taken to the Guangzhou Brainwashing Center where she had to undergo brainwashing. She was physically and mentally devastated and soon died.

Mr. Liu Shiwen, over 50, was a propaganda cadre at the Guangzhou Railroad Corporation. After July 20, 1999, when the Chinese Communist Party began the brutal persecution of Falun Gong, the company's political officers forced Mr. Liu into acts he regretted later. He had been the coordinator for the original Falun Gong Guangzhou Assistance Center. The officers compelled him to defame Falun Gong on a TV program, to slander Falun Gong's founder and Falun Gong. Afterwards, Mr. Liu was extremely regretful and recanted his statement on the Minghui website. He was determined to restore the loss he had caused Falun Gong with his actions. Guangdong Province 610 Office agents and Guangzhou Railroad Corporation officials were terrified by this, arrested him again and took him to a brainwashing center to be "reformed."

Tortures in Wuyuan Forced Labor Camp in Inner Mongolia

In Wuyuan Forced Labor Camp, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, policemen use all kinds of cruel and inhumane means to torture Falun Gong practitioners.

In 2003, policeman Zhao Naiwei and several inmates tortured practitioner Mr. Wang Anda with electric shocks and sleep deprivation for several days in order to force Mr. Wang to write the Guarantee Statement and other Three Statements. Mr. Wang refused to give up his belief in "Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance." To escape the torture, Mr. Wang jumped from the fourth floor and broke his legs.

In the summer of 2004, policeman Sha Huimin led several inmates to beat practitioner Mr. Cheng Guangxing. They punched Mr. Cheng and shocked him using electric batons. They kicked Mr. Cheng onto the ground and stomped on his chest. They hit Mr. Cheng's legs with a pickax handle so viciously that it disabled Mr. Cheng. More than six months later, Mr. Cheng still had trouble walking.

To protest the brutality, practitioner Wang Yongquan went on a hunger strike. Policeman Liu Ming and Du Xiangguang directed several inmates to use a torture method called "Tying the Ropes" on Mr. Wang. They tied Mr. Wang's hands behind his back using a thin but strong rope. Then they used all the force they could muster to tighten the rope. The rope became tighter and tighter and cut deeply into the flesh. More than one year later, the mark left by rope is still very clear.

In the summer of 2005, Liu Baohua, Zhao Naidong, Liu Ming, and Du Xiangdong and other policemen cuffed practitioner Liu Zichen in a spread eagle position with his four limbs stretched out. They put a helmet on Mr. Liu's head. They didn't allow him to sleep for several days in a row. They shocked him with multiple electric batons for several hours. Mr. Liu's body jumped and twitched uncontrollably from the electric shocks. After the torture, every inch of Mr. Liu's skin was injured. Some of the wounds kept discharging pus.

In the fall of 2005, Zhao Naidong, Liu Baohua, Liu Jun, Wei Yuzhi and other policemen took practitioner Zhao Tingjun out of the labor camp and brought him to places like the sheep pen, the boiler room, or outside to torture him. They used several electric batons to shock him for four or five hours in an attempt to force him to write the "Four Statements."

Detainees in the labor camp were forced to work on farms during the busy farming seasons. During the slack season, they usually had to work from 7 am to 2 am to make fake diamonds for the labor camp to sell to foreign countries. Every practitioner detained in Wuyuan Forced Labor Camp has suffered all kinds of tortures.

The following people participate in torturing Falun Gong practitioners: Sha Huimin, Liu Baohua, Zhao Naiwei, Zhao Naidong, Du Xiangyang, Du Xiangguang, Wei Yuzhi, Liu Ming, Liu Jun, and Yang Furong.

Autrocities Committed by Policewomen in Nanjing Women's Prison

From 2003 to 2004, in Nanjing Women's Prison, Policewoman Huang Fengying exhausted various methods to torture Falun Gong practitioners. Claiming herself an atheist, she used two collaborators Wang Xiaoqing (From Xinjiang who used to stay in Beijing) and Dong Jing (from Chang Zhou) to torture practitioner Huang Lijun (from Piaoshui) until she was near death. They kicked and beat her up. Dong Jing kicked her private parts. One time Huang Fengying locked Huang Lijun alone in the police office and shocked her all over with electric batons. Upon returning to her cell, Huang Lijun lost control of her bladder and bowels. Wang Xiaoqing put Master Li's name on all the chairs, the bed and even the toilet, so that Huang Liying could not sit or use the toilet. All these were plotted by Huang Fengying. Three of them often gathered to come up with new ways to torture Huang Lijun. Later, when her life was in danger, they were transferred to another area fearing that she would die under their custody.

Huang Fengying often tortured another practitioner, Li Jinan. They often made her stand for a long time, shocked her with electric batons and deprived her of sleep. At midnight after she got back from work, they would hold meetings to attack and curse her. As a result of their torture, Li became disabled, but they still forced her to do manual labor. Huang Fengying also frequently humiliated, cursed and beat up other detainees. She claimed, "Who saw this?" She claimed that she represented the government. She beat up Falun Gong practitioner Song Weijuan from Nantong and threatened her family. She called Song Weijuan's son Lu Xiaonan so that his teachers and classmates all knew about his situation and discriminated against him. As a result, he did not want to go to school or see anyone. Being depressed about his situation, he finally quit school. Now he stays at home and worries that his mom will never come back. At one point, he became addicted to Internet surfing. Huang Fengying then attacked Song Weijuan and accused her of only caring about practicing Falun Gong and abandoning her son.

Huang Fengying also uses other vicious means such as incitement, threatening, and force. Under her torture, some were forcefully brainwashed. Huang Fengying consequently was promoted to deputy head of the prison ward by the communist party. Based on the above crimes she committed, we suggest putting her on a criminal list.

Qiu Tong is the deputy head of the prison ward. She often slandered practitioners, made them stand for a long time, deprived them of their sleep, and did not allow them to write letters or make phone calls. She specifically designated two inmates, Lu Fengqin and Yang Xianping (from Shanghai), to monitor practitioner Xue Shuyu from Changzhou. When no one was around, they would beat her up, slander her, not allow her to sleep or contact others. They incited her spouse to divorce her, and tortured her with the fact that her child is disabled.

When Qiu Tong shocked practitioners with electric baton, she would insult them while beating them. As long as she is on duty, everyone is nervous. She would frequently hold slandering meetings to incite hatred toward practitioners.

Ding Hongyan is in charge of "transforming" Falun Gong practitioners. She often held "Teaching and Helping Class" to slander and curse practitioners, put very determined practitioners into solitary confinement, not allow their families to visit and not allow them to sleep. She appears nice but is truly violent. Because of her torture of Falun Gong practitioners, she was promoted to the deputy head of the prison ward.

To date, Nanjing Women's Prison is still accepting Falun Gong practitioners who have heavy sentences. They are usually sentenced to over seven years of imprisonment.

The Abuse at Chongqing Women's Forced Labor Camp: A Personal Account

I am a Falun Gong practitioner from Changshou District in Chongqing City. Between August 2005 and July 2006 I was detained in the Chongqing Women's Forced Labor Camp, also known as the Maojiashan Women's Forced Labor Camp. While being subjected to persecution there, I have also witnessed the labor camp authorities' ruthless mistreatment of other practitioners detained there.

In August 2005, I was illegally arrested and sent to the Maojiashan Women's Forced Labor Camp in Jiangbei, Chongqing City. As soon as I was taken into the iron gate of the 4th Group, the police officers viciously called the "helpers" --drug-addict inmates-- to hold me still and cut my hair short. Then, while yelling curse words, four or five "helpers" dragged me hurriedly to a corner of a staircase, removed my clothing and quickly put me into a prisoner's uniform against my will. Then, they pushed me into a small cell.

The cell walls and floor were covered with black rubber-like materials, leaving an uncovered 1-foot x 4-inch window on the wall to let light in. The cell was about 1.5x2.5 meters (5x8 feet). It was cold in the winter and hot in summer. The cell also contained a toilet. Detainees have to eat, use the toilet and sleep in this one small cell, and the air was suffocating. Four "helpers" worked in two shifts to monitor one practitioner.

They immediately tell new detainees the camp rules, which are implemented right away. One is given a deadline to memorize the rules and regulations, and has to read and memorize the regulation books. They call it "Militarized Management." One has to pass a three-month-long "discipline" probation period; otherwise they will extend the lock-up time and intensify the discipline. During those three-months, one has to get up at 5:30 a.m., spend not more than 10 minutes on personal hygiene and then commence with the "discipline," which lasts until midnight. The discipline includes standing in a military position, military squatting - (like kneeling on one leg, with the toes pressing down and the heel lifted; but it's much more painful as one has to keep the position for a long time), and sitting upright. One cannot move one bit during these three posts, and it is up to the "helpers" to decide how long they will last. If one fails any one of them, the drill will be extended to 2:00 a.m. or 3:00 a.m., even 4:00 a.m. For young people, they are made to squat instead of sitting upright.

I was forbidden to sit for eight months in a row, except for watching a Chinese New Year's program. During these eight months I was made to squat, even when I ate. I was forbidden to stand. Sometimes I was forced to squat for a whole day, and was prevented from seeing to my personal hygiene. I had to sleep on the floor or along the hallway, either facing the "helper," or on my back. They often uncovered my blanket to see if I was holding a Falun Gong exercise pose and would beat me if they thought I was. They have beaten me several times while I was asleep.

The "helpers" would make me write a daily report; otherwise they wouldn't let me sleep and would instead make me do the military squatting position without changing my foot position. The daily prolonged military squatting left bruises on my toes that didn't go away until months later when new skin replaced the bruised, peeling skin. When I passed out, they would beat me and kick me for getting up slowly and scold me, saying I was pretending. I had to squat 18 to 19 hours a day, sometimes 21 to 22 hours a day. My feet shook uncontrollably. I couldn't hold this position and fell. If I refused to cooperate, they would grab my collar, clothing or hair, throw me on the floor, step on me, pinch me, pull my skin up and twist it, pull my ears and drag me, pull my hair and knock my head on a wall or the floor, using a lot of force.

Inmates Liu Chengling (from Beijing) and Tang Yunxia (from Guanyinqiao in Jiangbei) would stand facing each other and push me back and forth against the wall, using force. When I fainted, they would pull my hair and pinch my ear to pick me up and throw me on to the wall again until they were tired. Liu Chengling said, "If you do not "reform" I will make you wish you were dead, and make you suffer every single minute!"

Zhong Mingju, Liu Chengling, Gou Xiaoxia, Tang Yunxia and Wan Xianjuan would stand with their heels on my toes, grab my shoulders and grind their heels back and forth on my toes. The skin on my toes became abraded, my feet and toes turned purple and black and swelled so badly that I couldn't put shoes on. My toenails had gradually become spongy and thick and didn't recover until half a year later. They had kicked me on my feet, legs and genitals, leaving bruises everywhere. Zhong Mingju and Liu Chengling had beaten me several times in the head with shoes and stools.

For more than eight months, I had to stand or kneel for more than 18 hours every day, I had to limp because the torture had made my feet severely swollen. My entire body was swollen as well. Sometimes my feet hurt so much that I could not place them on the floor. Tan Liyi from Hechuan often flicked my eyeballs with his fingers. Several times in the middle of winter they poured cold water on my head, or poured cold water onto my back through the top of my shirt. They punched my forehead. When I was in the bathroom, Liu Yongling grabbed my hair, pulled me down and forcefully punched my back with her elbow.

One day at dusk in late October 2005, police officer Hu Xiaoyan ordered seven or eight "helpers" to push me on the floor and immobilize my hands and feet. With one of them sitting on my abdomen they grabbed my throat and my nose firmly, pried open my mouth with a toothbrush (one toothbrush broke during the process), and force-fed me an unknown drug. In a short while my head violently nodded involuntarily and swung from side to side, and strange noises came out of my throat. This lasted several hours. Afterwards my throat and upper palate were bleeding, all my teeth became loose, and my head ached for over two weeks. Later on, police officer Zhao Yuanyuan ordered the "helpers" to force-feed me, during which they broke another toothbrush.

One morning in November 2005, the "helpers" Zhong Mingju and Tan Liyi forcibly stripped a Falun Gong practitioner naked. Police officer Chen Xiaoqin ordered several "helpers" to drag the practitioner from the third floor to the bottom floor and the outside to parade the practitioner. They then humiliated her further and slandered Falun Gong.

One day I reported to the guard on duty that the "helper" had hit me. The "helper" said, "She failed to do the drill right and we were helping correct her movements." Then police officer Chen Xiaoqin roared at me, "If you continue to make random calls and falsely accuse others of beating you, I will have your lips sealed." And then she showed me a big roll of yellow tape. Chen Xiaoqin often ordered Liu Yongling to take the lead to abuse us. When I was observed falling asleep during the standing-in-line drill, Liu Chengling and Gou Xiaoxia would hit my eyes, which swelled and hurt. Tears streamed down involuntarily and I could not open my eyes for quite a while. Instead of hitting the eyes, some "helpers" would force us to do things such as military squatting or push-ups.

Ms. Wang Aihua was in her fifties. She was forced to squat 50 times, or do push-ups and raise the leg high. Her clothes were soaked in sweat, but they would not let her wash them. They ordered her to wring out the moisture, air the clothes slightly and put them back on; then do "standing on one leg raising both arms to the side;" squatting half way with legs far apart and standing still, holding a big basin of water on top of her head with both hands while standing still, and hanging a chamber pot on her neck. She was frequently prevented from going to bed until 3:00 a.m. or 4:00 a.m., sometimes even 5:00 a.m. and she had to get up at 5:30 a.m. every day.

Altogether 15 "helpers" have persecuted me. The most vicious ones include Liu Chengling, Zhong Mingju, Gou Xiaoxia, Tang Yuxia, Wan Xianmei, and Qu Xiaoying.

The police officers would congregate in groups of three or four and hold hoodlum-like lectures to brainwash practitioners. They arrived group by group in shifts and wouldn't leave until an hour or two later. The "helpers" would scold, humiliate and roar randomly around Falun Gong practitioners and abuse them 18 to 22 hours a day, from early morning to late night, day after day.

Ms. Wang, a woman in her 60s, was confined in the small cell for an entire year before she was released, for being steadfast in Falun Gong practice. During her confinement Hu Xiaoyan often scolded her for about an hour each time. Sometimes we could hear sounds of beating and kicking.

Ms. Chen Tingfen, another woman in her 60s, limped for quite some time due to swollen feet. During an afternoon in November 2005, police officer Chen Xiaoqin ordered her to do military squats by the red flag pole. She refused. The "helpers" beat her intensely, dragged her to the office and tortured her behind closed doors. Then they continued torturing her in a small cell for four months. The "helpers" included Liu Yongling (from Beijing), Gou Xiaoxia (from Jiangbei), Wang Feng (from Changshou), Chen Xiaolu, Wang Decui, Wang Xia, Yang Ying, Zhang Lu and Yang Zhicui (from Tianjin). We could often hear the helpers' shouts and Ms. Chen Tingfang's miserable screams.

Ms. Zhang Xiuyun was 42 years old. Due to torture, she limped severely and her hoarse throat kept her from making a sound. She suffered a mental collapse before she was released full-term the end of August 2005, but has not yet recovered.

When the labor demand was intense, Falun Gong practitioners less than 60 years old were prevented from taking an afternoon break. They were forced to work from 7:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m, sometimes even until 12:00 a.m. They would be punished if they failed to finish the assigned workload. There are still more than 70 Falun Gong practitioners suffering abuse under the persecution in the Women's Forced Labor Camp today.

To persecute Falun Gong practitioners, police head Hu Xiaoyan even organized training for and gave exams to the "helpers." The exams happened every three or six months. In April 2006, as many as 60 "helpers" took the "helping technique" exam. Those who failed the exam were physically punished. The labor camp authorities would regularly send police officers to other labor camps such as the notorious Masanjia Forced Labor Camp to learn from their methods and stay for at least two months each time. Police officers from other labor camps came to Maojiashan [where I was] constantly to exchange experiences and methods for how to persecute Falun Gong practitioners.

Chongqing Falun Gong Practitioners Abducted and Sentenced to Prison for Printing Informational Materials

Mr. Deng Liang, 33 years old, is from Daping district, Chongqing city. He began the practice of Falun Gong in 1997. He later worked as a train attendant at Southwestern Air Company. His diligence and kindness at work won him respect from his supervisors and colleagues. He also received the award of "Top 10 Best Trained Attendants."

When the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began the persecution of Falun Gong in 1999, Mr. Deng persisted in practicing Falun Gong. He was able to break through the internet blockade and print Master Li's lectures in US and Canada, as well as other articles from Clearwisdom.net to give to fellow practitioners in Chongqing. He also created and distributed large quantities of truth-clarification materials.

On July 19, 2004, Wu Tao, Director of the Fourth Division of the National Security Bureau and others abducted Deng, two other Sichuan Foreign Language School students Wang Geng and Ren Chong, and four practitioners from Shiqiaopu. They also confiscated Falun Gong materials, computers and cell phones. Wu Tao once disguised himself and went to Deng Liang's dorm pretending to look for a room to rent, when in fact he was trying to get information from and monitor Mr. Deng.

During the first 24 hours, the police deprived them of sleep and did not provide them any food. In addition, they were not allowed to use the restroom, but were forced to sit still on tiny stools. The perpetrators tried to force them to give up Falun Gong and tried to threaten and trick them into exposing the location of other practitioners in Chongqing, and to contact overseas practitioners who are on a "black list". To help the other two classmates and fellow practitioners escape, Deng took responsibility for making and distributing all the Falun Gong materials. However, he did not cooperate with the police in other areas.

A fabricated crime of "Destruction of the Country's Execution of the Law" was used to illegally sentence Deng Liang and Wang Jinfei to seven years in prison; Hong Dongqiang, four years; Chen Chunyan, three-and-a-half years; and Tang Binyan, 3 years in prison.

In Yongchuan Prison, Deng Liang was detained in the "Strict Control" team in the seventh branch of the fourth district. He was strictly monitored by three inmates 24 hours a day, even when using the restroom. He was forced to embroider bead decorations on women's clothing 14 hours every day. Due to the persecution, Deng now suffers vision problems and almost went blind. He is also very thin.
