  • The Police Savagely Tortures Ms. Lu Chunyun from Liaoyuan City, Jilin Province

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Lu Chunyun from Liaoyuan City, Jilin Province, donated 60,000 yuan in 1998 to build an overpass. The police have once again tortured her and she is now emaciated. Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials in Liaoyuan City also plan to illegally try eight other practitioners in the near future.

Ms. Lu Chunyun worked at the Liaoyuan Nursing School. She suffered from numerous illnesses before she started Falun Gong practice in 1996. Falun Gong completely cured her and continuously improved her health and raised her moral character. When the Liaoyuan City government asked for public donations for the construction of an overpass in 1998, Lu Chunyun anonymously donated all of her 60,000 yuan. A memorial stone tablet bearing the names of donors include one "anonymous" person. Later [when people at last learned that she was the "anonymous" donor], they respected her for her selfless act, and her story was also published in the May 18, 1998, issue of Liaoyuan Daily News. Nevertheless, this good person has been persecuted for the past seven years.

Officers from Dongji Police Department in Liaoyuan City barged into Ms. Lu's home on the afternoon of June 17, 2003, and ransacked it. They also arrested and detained her. When she confronted them they said, "We are tools of the Communist Party; we are here to persecute you!" She said, "You are the people's police! You should use your powers to suppress bad people, not good people like us!" The police said, "We're supposed to beat you guys. We just do our job and don't think about it."

Ms. Lu was savagely tortured at the Dongji Police Department. The first day the police beat her for a while and then took her to a large downstairs room. They handcuffed and shackled her, struck her to the floor, pulled her up by her hair, and resumed beating her. When they grew tired of beating her, they stomped on her and hit her with wooden two-by-fours. They tried to force her to kneel. When she refused, they stomped on her. The torture lasted until past 2:00 a.m., until the police were exhausted.

The next day they wrapped her head in a plastic bag and closed the opening so Ms. Lu could not breathe. They beat and kicked her. The third day, the police brought a large bucket of water and repeatedly submerged her head in the water, each time longer than the last. They pulled her head up and poured vinegar essence into her nose while covering her mouth.

By the fourth day Lu Chunyun's eyes had sunk into their sockets. Her tormentors made her squat in a dirty, wet place; her body was covered in dirt and water. In the morning a police department driver shot her more than 20 times with plastic pellets from a toy gun. In the afternoon, officers Jiang Yang and Li Bin violently kicked Ms. Lu in the back from both sides until she fell down. They pulled her up by her hair and kicked her again.

They also kicked her handcuffed hands. By the fifth day Ms. Lu could not stand up. Someone brought a chair and told her to sit. Officer Jiang Yang sat across from her and rubbed her ankles back and forth with his hard boots until the skin peeled off. He burned her legs with lighted incense, causing more than 20 large blisters. He poured lighter fluid from a cigarette lighter into a water bottle, lit it and burned her arms, again leaving her with large blisters.

On the sixth day, female section head Lan from the Liaoyuan City Police Department and Dai Jilu, also from the city police department, arrived and made Lu Chunyun stand in various humiliating and tiring positions. They also tied her with a rope, hung her up, and beat her for six more days. They put her on a Tiger Bench. After she was held at the detention center for four months, Ms. Lu Chunyun was illegally sentenced to two years of forced labor on October 14, 2003.

Lu Chunlun was arrested again the evening of April 22, 2006, when she was distributing truth clarification materials. Participating in the arrest were Han Dong, head of the Dongji Police Department, and other officers. Ms. Lu was tied to a metal chair for a whole day at the police department. Officers Lian Weihua, Jiang Yang and others questioned her about the source of the materials, but she refused to answer them. Lian Weihua said, "There is no need for a written record; she won't tell us anything!" He kicked her viciously four times in her chest before leaving.

Lu Chunyun was taken to a detention center and the officials took the 320 yuan she carried with her. She went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution, and Luo Dongmei and Hong, head of the detention center, force-fed her several times. Now emaciated, Ms. Lu is extremely weak. Zhang, the detention center doctor, and guard Luo still shackle her and force-feed her. These officials refused to listen to her clarify the truth.

Liaoyuan City National Security agents and police officers arrested more than 30 practitioners during April and May 2006. Some practitioners were sent to labor camps, some were released after a period of detention, and nine practitioners are still held at a detention center.

Practitioner Zhao Lianli was sentenced to five years in prison. Party officials filed charges against practitioners Lu Chunyun, Ms. Xiang Lijie, Zhao Yan, Ms. Liu Xiangzhuo, Luan Aijun, Ms. Zhang Shunhong, Liu Quanxing, and Ms. Wang Xiangren at the Longshan District Court and are planning to stage a trial in the upcoming days.

These practitioners were not arrested at the same time or in the same location. They don't even know each other and didn't provide any "confessions." The officials have fabricated numerous interrogation records and charged the practitioners with "organizing to interfere with the administration of law," despite absence of any evidence. The Procuratorate rejected the charges based on lack of evidence. The police made up more lies and false evidence and re-filed the charges, calling the practitioners "a criminal group." Gao Yusheng and Lan Yuqin from the Liaoyuan City National Security Bureau tapped practitioners' phones and followed them.

These practitioners held a hunger strike to protest their illegal arrest, detention and prosecution. Detention center head Hong savagely beat them, and some practitioners were brutally force-fed.

89 of Ms. Bai Yufang's Neighbors Condemn the Arrest and Detention by Beijing City National Security Bureau

On October 26, 2006, the Beijing National Security Bureau and the Neighborhood Committee of  PLA Air Force Equipment Technology Institute collaborated to arrest Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Bai Yufang and ransack her house. Ms. Bai has been detained for over 68 days for "Practicing Falun Gong, serving and leading the group," and "distributing flyers of counter-revolutionary propaganda."

Many people know that Ms. Bai practices Falun Gong and that she had many illnesses before she started practicing. She could not even stand up and needed to be taken care of at all times. After she started to practice Falun Gong, people witnessed how she got better and better every day. The officials from her former place of employment said, "Why is this medicine jar (a person who always takes medicine) no longer asking for reimbursement for her medical expenses?"

Ms. Bai is now 72 years old. There are five members in her family including her husband, in his eighties. Every day, she gets up early, washes clothes and cooks for her family, and takes care of her husband.

Many neighbors felt the injustice of Ms. Bai being arrested.

The Ongoing Persecution of Ms. Cao Qiuxiang from Qidong County, Hunan Province

Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Cao Qiuxiang from Qidong County, Hengyang City, Hunan Province regained her health and became a better person since she started practicing Falun Gong. For this, however, she has been continuously harassed and persecuted by the local government and police.

On December 13, 1999, utilizing her constitutional right to appeal like other Chinese citizens, Cao Qiuxiang went to Beijing to speak out against the unjust treatment of Falun Gong. She was illegally arrested on the 14th and detained at the Beijing Detention Center for 37 days.

Zou Liming and Zeng Meiling from Buyunqiao Township of Qidong County brought Cao Qiuxiang back and detained her at the Qidong Detention Center. On the train back, they searched Ms. Cao and took 270 yuan from her. December 26 was a very cold day, yet the policemen forced Cao Qiuxiang and other five practitioners to kneel on the floor wearing only their underwear. Policeman Zhou Daosheng hit their hands with a wooden stick, while the head of the Detention Center, Liu, hit their feet with a bamboo stick and said: "Who's your teacher? Who told you to make a scene at the mine field? Do you still want to practice [Falun Gong]?" A month later, they transferred Cao Qiuxiang to a jail for five months and extorted 360 yuan from her, declaring that it was for her meals.

In May of 2000, the authorities transferred Cao Qiuxiang to Baimalong Women's Forced Labor Camp in Changsha City. One day in August, the wardens claimed, without any evidence, that Ms. Cao was suffering from high blood pressure. They dragged her from her cell on the third floor to the main floor, and tried to force her to take a drug. Cao Qiuxiang refused. The Group Head, Tang, scolded her: "If you don't take it, you will be handcuffed!" In the end, the wardens force-fed Cao Qiuxiang the drug. Not until September 20, 2000 was Cao Qiuxiang released from detention. During her year in the forced labor camp, the Department of Politics and Security at the County Police Station extorted 1,000 yuan from her family, and the township government extorted 1,500 yuan.

In May 2001, right after Cao Qiuxiang was released from Buyunqiao, Li Wei, Zou Liming, and several others from the Department of Politics and Security of the Qidong County Police Station came to her home. They questioned her about who posted the Falun Gong banners on the utility poles, and threatened her not to practice Falun Gong or go to appeal with other practitioners. Cao Qiuxiang replied: "I practice Falun Gong at home and I don't know who posted those banners."

In December 2003, Zeng Xiangsheng, the head of the Buyunqiao County 610 Office went to Cao Qiuxiang's home. As Ms. Cao happened to be out at that time, the 610 Office people tried to force her husband to turn her in, saying that otherwise he would not receive his salary.

On October 12, 2004, Zeng Xiangsheng and a few people came to Cao Qiuxiang's home again and took away her exercise music tapes, 11 books of Master Li's lectures, 2 copies of Essentials for Further Advancement, a portrait of Master Li, some Falun Gong materials, and other items.

On June 4, 2005, Zhao Wusheng and two other people from the township 610 Office went to Cao Qiuxiang's home once again trying to arrest her but she was not home. They asked the neighbors about her whereabouts and were told that she went to her relatives'. The 610 Office people could do nothing, and finally left.

At 7 o'clock in the evening of September 19, 2005, eight people led by Zhao Wusheng came to Cao Qiuxiang's home to try to arrest her again. The eight people surrounded her home. Cao Qiuxiang quickly ran away from her home. Around 6:30 in the evening of September 30, Zhao Wusheng and others went to her home once more, but they did not find her because she had gone to her father's for his birthday.

On the evening of December 30, 2005, Zhao Wusheng, Chen Fuyuan, the Party Secretary of the village in which Cao Qiuxiang lived, and another person went to Cao Qiuxiang's home and demanded to see her. Ms. Cao's husband told them that she had gone to her relatives, and then the three people required to talk to her on the phone. They would not leave until Ms. Cao's husband agreed to it.

In February of 2006, four people led by Zhou Wusheng went to Cao Qiuxiang's home while she was out working in the field. They did not find her, but took away a Falun Gong banner that was hung out in the street.

Around 12 o'clock on the afternoon of April 7, 2006, Chen Fuyuan and four other people came to Cao Qiuxiang's home and questioned her as to whether she had practiced the exercises or gone to appeal with other practitioners. They asked who had written the couplet on her door frame and where it came from. They also recorded the names and ages of all the family members of Cao Qiuxiang, as well as her phone number. They also threatened her, telling her not to practice any more as otherwise she would be "severely punished."

Xinkaipu Forced Labor Camp in Hunan Province Uses Poisonous Injections to Torture Falun Gong Practitioners

By a Falun Gong practitioner from Mainland China

After I read the report in "Minghui Weekly," issue # 257, about how Xinkaipu Forced Labor Camp used poisonous injections and toxic substances to persecute Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhou Yongbing and caused him to be mentally disordered, it reminded me of what I had experienced and saw when I was there. I think that Xinkaipu Forced Labor Camp in Hunan Province has been using poisonous injections and toxic substances to persecute Falun Gong practitioners for a long time.

From the end of 2000 to 2003, over ten of the practitioners detained in the 7th Group of Xinkaipu Forced Labor Camp developed symptoms such as difficulty with gross motor skills and walking, abnormal feces and urine, decreasing memory, blurry vision, and misjudging the distance of objects. Many local practitioners have been detained there. Five of them developed similar conditions.

An insider witnessed these events at that time and personally saw the collaborators put "bad" medicine into the practitioners' food. Such crimes were definitely associated with the wardens of the forced labor camp. The collaborators dared not to do it without the wardens’ participation. Nor could they get the "medicine" on their own.

The jailed Falun Gong Practitioners that were injected with such toxic substances would suffer continuous pain and burning all through the night. They seemed to have the sensation of ice-cold, piercing foreign matter flowing in through their energy channels. It would take at least three years for them to fully recover.

Mr. Gu Xianglin Brutally Abused at Xishanping Labor Camp in Beibei District, Chongqing City

Falun Gong practitioners are brutally persecuted in the Xishanping Forced Labor Camp in Beibei District, Chongqing City. Every practitioner imprisoned there that is steadfast in their belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and persists in practicing Falun Gong suffers from miserable torture. Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Gu Xianglin from Qijiang County, Chongqing City was one of them. Mr. Gu was "illegally imprisoned" in the third strictly-monitored group of the Second Section, Seventh Ward.

In December 2005, the weather at Xishanping was already very cold. Drug addict inmates at the labor camp (the so-called "disciplinary assistants") Fu Yaqiang (male) and He Shaolun (male) used a water gourd to scoop up tap water, and poured it over Mr. Gu's head over and over again, with the excuse that Mr. Gu did not listen to their words and frequently sat with his eyes closed.

In March 2006, when drug addict Hu Fei (male) was on his night shift, he scooped up urine from the chamberpot in the restroom and poured the urine into Mr. Gu's mouth while he was sleeping and snoring.

In August 2006, "disciplinary assistants" Huang Xiaodong (male) and other inmates, in full view of others, pressed Mr. Gu's head down into a chamberpot containing almost a full barrel of tap water to suffocate him in the restroom of the Second Section, Seventh Ward, with the excuse that Mr. Gu was not obedient.

By the time Mr. Gu was released from the labor camp, he had become extremely thin. One of the primary reasons is that he had gone on hunger strikes many times in the previous fifteen months to protest the persecution. These hunger strikes lasted from one day to three days each time.

On the morning of September 5, 2006, when Mr. Gu Xianglin was released from the third strictly-monitored group, the local government personnel and police, as well as National Security agents, came and took him away.
