  • Investigation Lead: Ms. Bi Xiaoye's Organs Harvested in 2001 after She Was Knocked Unconscious with a Pickaxe

Her husband had abused Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Bi Xiaoye from Xuge Township, Wanjia Town, Pingdu City, Shandong Province, and they divorced. Then, on June 3, 2001 [Chinese lunar calendar], ex-husband Ma Yanming knocked her unconscious with a pickaxe. Ma Yanqing, Ma Yanming's brother, the head of the Landi Town Judicial Bureau, led a mafia-style gang to the scene and also invited officers from the Pingdu City Police Department to the scene. The Pingdu City police harvested Bi Xiaoye's organs while she was still breathing. Then they took her body and cremated it. Following are details about the victim.

Bi Xiaoye, 40, was introduced to Falun Gong through a relative a short time before the persecution of Falun Gong began on July 20, 1999. Her husband, Ma Yanming, often verbally and physically abused her, since he believed the slanderous Communist regime-produced propaganda towards Falun Gong. The couple divorced in 2001. They agreed at the time of divorce that although the couple would separate, Bi Xiaoye would stay at the current residence and leave after the fall.

On the afternoon of June 3, 2001 [Chinese lunar calendar], Ma Yanming suddenly broke into Bi Xiaoye's residence. He locked the front gate and chopped at Bi Xiaoye's head and face with a pickaxe. Bi Xiaoye was instantly covered in blood, lost consciousness and fell to ground.

Ma Yanming immediately phoned his older brother Ma Yanqing, the head of Landi Town Judicial Bureau. Ma Yanqing quickly brought a well-known local area gang to the scene of crime. Soon, officers from Pingdu City Police Department whom Ma Yanqing had notified also arrived.

The Pingdu City police first claimed that they must "prevent the situation from getting out of hand and protect the scene." The police and the gangsters, led by Ma Yanqing, formed a human wall around the victim to prevent Bi Xiaoye's family and other people from getting close to her. The police then cut the still breathing Bi Xiaoye open and harvested all of her internal organs. Afterwards, they "folded" her carved body, tossed it in a vehicle and took it to a crematorium.

One witness said in a grave tone, "It's a human life! She was still breathing! Anyone would say that you should resuscitate her first! Why did they harvest her organs first instead? Aren't they committing murder? I just don't understand it. She got hit in the head and face. What does it have to do with her organs? They carved up a person who could have been revived. Who will take care of her two young girls now?"

This happened five years ago, and yet the murderer, Ma Yanming, is still at large. The police didn't even bother to fake justice by arresting him first and acquitting him later. They simply said, "no investigation needed!" Ma Yanming and the police together killed Bi Xiaoye.

According to insiders, the central Chinese Communist Party (CCP) government issues quotas for numbers of organs to be harvested at the county-level prisons. The Pingdu Prison was filled to capacity between 1999 and 2001, so an abandoned factory in north Pingdu City was used to detain people who appealed to the government. A government official once said to a detained appellant in private, "The Communist Party is going down. Don't appeal anymore, because corruption is everywhere. How can you fight the regime?"

Ma Yanqing, brother of murderer Ma Yanming, was transferred to the Nancun Judicial Bureau in 2005 to continue the "judicial work." During the peak of the persecution between 1999 and 2001, Ma Yanqing brutally abused Falun Gong practitioners in Landi Town. Once during the cold of winter before a Chinese New Year, Ma Yanqing smashed all the windows in a house used to detain Falun Gong practitioners. He forced Falun Gong practitioners to remove their coats and stand barefoot on the icy concrete floor all night long. Those vicious CCP officials extorted money from Falun Gong practitioners and their families and divided the money among themselves.

Zhou Huisheng Persecuted to Death at Yuemingshan Forced Labor Camp, Anshan City

In the Autumn of 2005, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhou Huisheng was clarifying the truth to people when policeman Dai Tianyu, from Ganwang Police Station, and another policeman arrested him, detaining him illegally in the Haicheng Custodial Station. Later he was sent to the Yuemingshan Forced Labor Camp and given a one year sentence. During his detention, the policeman Dai Tianyu often went to his home and threatened his family members.

On July 26, 2006, Ping Bo, an officer from the forced labor camp in Anshan City, notified the local police and his family members by phone to take Mr. Zhou home. By that time he was unconscious and on the verge of death. He was sent to directly to the hospital. A physical examination showed that his head was bleeding internally and there were clots.

He was discharged from the hospital only two days after he came in because the doctor refused to treat him. He passed away on July 30, 2006. According to the local people, the related persons were afraid of the truth coming out and they sent three undercover spies to the hospital first to see the situation there and then to Ganwang Police Station. They sent policeman Dai Tianyu from Ganwang Police Station to Mr. Zhou's home to see how things were with him. When he saw that Zhou Huisheng was on the verge of death, he turned his back and left immediately.

After Mr. Zhou passed away, his family members found there was a cyst (tumor) on the right side at the back of his head. When his body was cremated, some of the head bones were black in color.

Several spies colluded with the police in Ganwang Police Station. They held secret discussions with the hospital and with the family members. The family was warned not to disclose anything and were told to cremate the body immediately. Currently, the Mr. Zhou's family dares not to speak out.

The List of Crimes Committed by Weifang City Chinese Communist Party Committee, Part 1

There are four districts, six county-cities and two counties in Weifang City, Shandong Province, which further breaks down into 158 towns and townships with 34 street Party Committees. The area's population is 8.5 million.

Before the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started persecuting Falun Gong, there were practice sites for Falun Gong in all the parks, squares and districts and in nearly every village. More than 40,000 people went to do Falun Gong exercises at the practice sites on a regular basis. They came from government agencies, companies and villages. The practitioners conducted themselves according to Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Under high pressure from Jiang's group, Weifang City officials brutally persecuted Falun Gong in order to earn promotions and to make money.

According to the statistics available, more than 120 Falun Gong practitioners have died from the persecution in Weifang City; about 1,000 practitioners have been illegally sentenced to prison and labor camps, and thousands more have been subjected to being held in secret detention rooms in their work places, brainwashing classes, mental hospitals and detention centers. Many practitioners have been fined. Their homes have been ransacked and they have been brutally tortured.

All of these crimes are the direct result of the decrees and urgings from the CCP Party Committee in Weifang City. We will continue to publish investigation reports. The criminals will be brought to justice. Let us together stop this unprecedented persecution. Following are the names of the persecutors and their deeds:

    1. Wu Guanzheng

Wu Guanzheng, Shandong Province Party Committee secretary, Wang Xiuzhi and Gao Xinting, Party Committee deputy secretaries, went to Weifang City and made arrangements for the persecution of Falun Gong and Falun Gong practitioners. Wu Guanzheng went to Weifang City on August 9, 1999 and held a discussion forum on the persecution of Falun Gong. The Weifang City CCP Committee forwarded his speech to government agencies, companies, workplaces, township and village Party Committees on all levels through various channels.

    2. Cao Xuecheng

Cao Xuecheng, male, is around 60 years of age. He was the secretary of Weifang City CCP Committee and the chairman of Weifang City People's Congress. He worked as the vice chairman of Shandong Province People's Congress since December 2002. He personally arranged and started the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in Weifang City.

    July 14, 1999

The Police treated some Falun Gong practitioners in Weifang City even more unjustly, as did the superiors in their workplaces, at the community and the village CCP Committee. The practitioners went to the city CCP committee and the city government to appeal.

Wang Boxiang, administrative deputy mayor, Hu Gang, deputy mayor, Wang Zhihua, the secretary of the Political and Judiciary Committee, and the official in charge of the appellate office talked with a few Falun Gong practitioners. Their conclusion was that the practitioners' requests were reasonable and they answered all of them. They repeatedly affirmed that they would not retaliate against Falun Gong practitioners who appealed and issued a written statement [to that effect] with a stamp from the Weifang City Government Appellate Office. They were actually publicly lying to Falun Gong practitioners, lying later to the whole city and defaming the practitioners. They incited hatred against the practitioners. One practitioner was sentenced to prison for participating in this appeal. Most of the other practitioners who went to appeal were brutally persecuted in different ways.

    July 23, 1999

After the Shouguang Daily News published a letter written by "Xiao Xing," Li Lanqing, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central CCP Committee, vice premier of the State Council and head of the central 610 Office personally wrote comments on the article. The Weifang City CCP Committee distributed Li Lanqing's comments and further promoted the persecution of Falun Gong and Falun Gong practitioners.

    July 27, 1999

The Weifang City CCP Committee announced that by July 27, 1999, the police, Industry and Commerce Department, the news and publishing industry among other government agencies had confiscated 36,000 Falun Gong books, more than 44,000 audio cassettes, 6,559 videotapes, 3,593 pictures, and 13,500 copies of Falun Gong materials.

    Evening, October 27, 1999

The Standing Committee of the Weifang City CCP Committee listened and watched a special commentator's "Falun Gong is xx [slanderous words omitted]" and a special feature film, broadcast on CCTV. The content was reprinted in the People's Daily newspaper. The Standing Committee held a discussion forum. The following people attended the forum: Cao Xuecheng, Wang Yufen, Wang Lifu, Chi Zhaohou, Zheng Jinlan, Wang Boxiang, Wang Zhihua, Hu Gang, Yu Ming, Fang Zhongchang, Sun Jialian, Ju Fachang, Bi Keren and others.

    End of 1999

Weifang City CCP Committee published an article entitled, "The Whole City has Engaged in the Struggle against Falun Gong."

    Evening, January 30, 2001

The Standing Committee of the Weifang City CCP Committee watched the staged self-immolation in Tiananmen Square that took place on January 23 broadcast by CCTV. Cao Xuecheng, Weifang City CCP Committee secretary gave a speech, which started another round of persecution against Falun Gong.

    February 25, 2001

Cao Xuecheng, secretary of the Weifang City CCP Committee spoke at a "Ban Pornographic and Illegal Publications" city works conference and singled out Falun Gong publications as targets of suppression.

    May 15, 2001

The "Shandong Province conference to exchange experiences in educating and reforming Falun Gong people" was held in Weifang City. Wang Xiuzhi, Shandong Province Party Committee deputy secretary, Sun Keqian, deputy head of Shandong Province Police Department, Wang Chengbo, deputy head of the "610 Office" at the Shandong Province Party Committee, Cao Xuecheng, secretary of Weifang City CCP Committee, mayor Wang Boxiang, Bi Keren, deputy secretary and other local officials attended the conference. This meeting marked the beginning of a mass-brainwashing campaign against Falun Gong practitioners.

On December 19, 2001, Cao Xuecheng slandered Falun Gong and incited hatred

On June 14, 2002, the "CCP Weifang City CCP Committee's Opinions on Studying and Thoroughly Carrying Out Jiang Zemin's Important Speech from May 13 and the Essence of the Eighth Party Representative Assembly Meeting of Shandong Province" slandered and incited hatred against Falun Gong. These "Opinions" were issued to all government agencies.

On July 25, 2002, Cao Xuecheng slandered and attacked Falun Gong during his speech at a City CCP Committee theory study central group reading session.

    3. Zhang Chuanlin

Zhang Chuanlin, male, was born in Rizhao, Shandong Province in May 1952. He worked as secretary of the Zaozhuang City CCP Committee in Shandong Province, the head of Weifang City People's Congress, and as principal of the Weifang City Party School between September 1998 and December 2002. Between December 2002 and the present he has been working as secretary of the Weifang City CCP Committee and as principal of Weifang City Party School. He is the chief person responsible for the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in Zaozhuang, and for the escalation of persecution against Falun Gong practitioners in Weifang City. He incited hatred against Falun Gong practitioners, slandered Falun Gong and Falun Gong practitioners many times and personally arranged for the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners.

    4. The CCP has never followed any law in persecuting Falun Gong. The extent of Falun Gong practitioners' persecution in Weifang City completely depends on orders issued by the main officials at the City CCP Committee and their subordinates. Some of these are the secretary of the City CCP Committee, the secretary of the City CCP Committee in charge of politics and law, the secretary of the Political and Judiciary Committee of the City CCP Committee, the head of the "610 Office," the police, the national security bureau, and other main officials at a series of government agencies. Cao Xuecheng and Zhang Chuanlin, as mentioned above, are the two secretaries of the City CCP Committee. Four deputy secretaries of the City CCP Committees are Wang Lifu (term: February 1996--January 2001), Bi Keren (term: January 2001--February 2003), Wang Zhihua (term: February 2003--January 2006), Cui Jianping (term: January 2006--current). These four people's terms mark the four stages of persecution in Weifang City. Persons at the Political and Judiciary Committee and the "610 Office" who follow government orders are on another level. There are also the police, the National Security Bureau, companies and work places. Two people who headed the Political and Judiciary Committee are Wang Zhihua (term: July 1994--February 2003, secretary of the Standing Committee and secretary of the Political and Judiciary Committee) and Li Shouyu (term: February 2003--current, secretary of the Standing Committee, secretary of the Political and Judiciary Committee and deputy mayor).

    5. Bi Keren

Bi Keren, male, is around 60 years old. He worked as deputy secretary of the City CCP Committee between January 2001 and February 2003 and since then until now was/is also as the deputy head of the city People's Congress.

On July 25, 2002, Bi Keren slandered Falun Gong and incited hatred against Falun Gong in his "speech at City CCP Committee theory study central group reading session" where he emphasized that the city government would continue to persecute Falun Gong.

    6. Liu Mingke, male, was born in Pingdu City, Shandong Province in August 1957. He worked as secretary of the Changle County Party Committee between December 1997 and January 2001. He also worked as a member of the Standing Committee of the City CCP Committee and head of the Propaganda Department from January 2001 and does so now. He is extremely vicious toward Falun Gong practitioners.

    7. In April 2003, Wang Zhenhua, the secretary of the police department Party Committee and head of the police department at the time, published an article entitled "Do a Good Job; Serve the Economy and Spare No Effort in Creating a Great Social Environment" in which he slandered Falun Gong.

Wang Weidong, head of the Weifang City People's Procuratorate slandered Falun Gong in his article "Surround the Focal Point of Economic Development; Work Hard to Strengthen Building of Soft Environment."

    8. Wang Xiuhe, male, is around 50 years old. He worked as the 12th deputy secretary of Weicheng District CCP Committee and was the district head between 1995 and 2000. He has also held the position of the secretary of Weicheng District CCP Committee and head of the district's People's Congress. Falun Gong practitioners in Weicheng District have been severely persecuted. Right now we learned that 18 Falun Gong practitioners have died as a result of persecution, and that Wang Xiuhe is chiefly responsible for their deaths. Up until November 2004, he distributed his "experiences" in persecuting Falun Gong throughout the city. He incited hatred against Falun Gong in his article, "Build and Solidify Scientific Development Concepts; Work Hard to Promote Building a Peaceful Weicheng." This article was published in a Weifang City CCP Committee publication and circulated throughout the city.

    9. Ding Hanting, male, in his 40s, is Daotian Town CCP Committee secretary in Shouguang City.

Even as late as May 2004, this person was still spreading lies throughout the city. He slandered Falun Gong in his article "Build a Peaceful and Safe Village and Town, Promote Economic Development." This article was published in a Weifang City CCP Committee publication and circulated throughout the city.

Ms. Li Guixiang's Lower Jaw Dislocated, Nasal Feeding Tube Left in Her Stomach for Two Weeks

My name is Li Guixiang. Because of practicing Falun Gong, I had been imprisoned in Qinghai Province Female Labor Camp for three and a half years. During this period, I suffered various tortures.

Before practicing Falun Gong, I used to be contaminated by filthy thoughts and conduct. I didn't know what I lived for or how many wrongdoings I had committed.

Fortunately, in 1999, I learned Falun Gong, and was strict with myself according to the requirements of Falun Gong. Trying to be a good person, I considered others first no matter where I was. At that time, I felt very happy.

Soon, the persecution started. I did not understand why I was not allowed to be a good person, so I appealed. As a result, I was persecuted. My family was broken apart. I became a wanted "important criminal."

At the end of 2001, I visited a practitioner's home at Hainanzhou Area in Qinghai Province. After being reported by someone, I was arrested by the police and detained at a local detention center. To protest this unjust imprisonment, I went on a hunger strike, while clarifying the truth of Falun Gong and the persecution to people. Seeing that I had not eaten for several days, the police ordered four to five male criminal inmates to press me down on a chair. They pinched my nose, opened my mouth with chopsticks, and inserted a thumb-thick tube deeply into my stomach. At that moment, I could not speak. I thought I was going to die.

I did not know how I survived those several days. The winter in northwestern China is very harsh; the wind is very chilly with a cold that penetrates right to the bone. Yet the police would not give me a quilt. Finally, realizing my body temperature was going down, they found me a quilt. Nine days later, I was taken by people from Hainanzhou District Police Department to Qinghai Provincial Female Labor Camp and sentenced to three years of forced labor.

Many crimes perpetrated against practitioners at Qinghai Provincial Female Labor Camp have already been documented. Practitioner Tan Yingchun died from persecution there. Fan Lihong and Zhang Xuefeng were persecuted to mental collapse there.

Former head Xiang Jianmei, former administration chief Duan Hairong (now deputy-head), the 1st Group's political instructor Wang Haijie, the 2nd Group's political instructor Zhang Wenjing, and official Li Hua, ordered drug-addicts to monitor me 24 hours a day. When I practiced the exercises, they used four handcuffs to lock me to a bed. When I recited Falun Gong teachings out loud, they started to beat me, and found adhesive tape and a towel to cover my mouth, not letting my voice out. In order to protest this, I started a hunger strike. After 12 days, prison "doctor" Chen Qinghua started nasal feeding. I resisted. They continued to do forced nasal feedings on me nearly 20 times. After that, I was unable to bear food in my stomach, and I started to spit blood. Even so, they intentionally left the nasal feeding tube in my stomach for almost two weeks. When the tube was finally taken out, it had turned black.

To stop me from practicing, they handcuffed one hand and one foot of mine together for several months. I became weaker. Finally seeing me almost dead, they sent me home.

After going home, I kept studying the Falun Gong teachings and practicing the exercises. Very quickly, I recovered and my health was restored. Falun Gong had given me a second life.

At the end of August 2003, because of revealing the persecution to people, I was arrested by the Yunjiakou Police Station in Xining City. I protested their illegal action, and jumped from a high place. At that time, I went unconscious, and my whole body could not move. After regaining consciousness, they still took me to the labor camp. Once again, I went on a hunger strike to protest. After ten days, they started to force-feed me. After two months, Chen Qinghua dislocated my lower jaw, and poured food into my mouth. The process was so cruel that no one could bear to watch.

In 2005, after the terrible scheme they instigated, I walked out of the labor camp with a wounded body. Yet they sent two operatives to follow me. After seeing their twisted plan fail, they sent me to the East City Minority Home for the Elderly. Since then, I have been destitute and homeless.

Practitioner Wang Hongliang Imprisoned and Persecuted for Five Years; His Blood Was Drawn for Examination

Mr. Wang Hongliang is from Liangjiashan Township, Shulan City. The Shulan City Police Department arrested Wang and detained him at the Nanshan Detention Center in Shulan City for nine months. Later, they sentenced him to five years of imprisonment at the Tiebei Prison in Changchun City. The Tiebei Prison drew blood from all prisoners for blood exams during the latter half of 2004. The Gongzhuling Prison drew blood from all the detained Falun Gong practitioners during the first half of 2005.

This is a scar left on Wang Hongliang's leg from the torture he suffered at  Shulan City Police Department when police interrogated him. The wound ulcerated and took six months to heal.

This is the wound on Wang Hongliang's arm from being beaten by police from Shulan City who tried to arrest him.

On July 8, 2001, police from Shulan City Police Department arrested Wang and sent him to Nanshan Detention Center in Shulan City. At the detention center, three police officers from the Criminal Team tortured him while interrogating him. Wang was handcuffed behind his back and they proceeded to kick and punch him in order to obtain information. Later, they beat him again. They tied him to a tiger bench so he couldn't move at all. Then they used a wood stick to hit his legs. The wound on his leg ulcerated and took six months to heal. Now he has a big scar on his leg from the torture.

Later, he was detained at the detention center for nine months without any legislative procedures, after that, he was sentenced to five years of imprisonment. On April 13, 2002, he was sent to the Tiebei Prison in Changchun. At the Tiebei Prison, the police ordered four criminals to monitor Wang so he wasn't able to sleep.

In August and September of 2004, without any reason provided, all the prisoners in the Tiebei Prison were forced to have their blood drawn for exams. On March 30, 2005, all the practitioners who refused to give up practicing Falun Gong were transferred to the Gongzhuling Prison. Twelve of them had their blood drawn as soon as they arrived. One month later, all the practitioners at the Gongzhuling Prison forcefully had their blood drawn, while none of the other prisoners had to have their blood drawn. Practitioner Xie Guichen was also imprisoned there. He went on a hunger strike for 107 days to protest the inhuman persecution.

The day when they were transferred to the Gongzhuling Prison, two practitioners were tortured and then locked in a very small cell. The police gave electric shocks to two other practitioners' faces, leaving them scarred. Other practitioners were often beaten or mistreated by male criminal inmates. He Jinguo is an instructor at the Prison Political Department at the Tiebei Prison. He often ordered inmates to beat Falun Gong practitioners.

Practitioner Wang Hongliang was illegally imprisoned for five years. Ten days after he was released, police officers Wang Jinfu, Li Zhiwei, Luo Baisong, along with two other police officers from Liangjiashan Township, Shulan City went to his home, trying to take him to a brainwashing class. Mr. Wang refused to budge, and then the police pushed him out the door and dragged him into the police car and took him to somewhere in Jishu. There was a building there and police detained many practitioners from Jiaohe and Shulan in that building. Later, Wang Hongliang managed to escape the brainwashing class.

Four Year Prison Sentence for Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Gu Xiaohua, Following More Than One Year in Detention

Ms. Gu Xiaohua, a 58-year-old Falun Gong practitioner from Beijing, was recently sentenced to four years of imprisonment in the Beijing Women's Prison, following more than a year in detention.

Ms. Gu Xiaohua was an employee of the Beijing Snowflake Refrigerator Factory and lived in Beijing's Anhuili Region. She started practicing Falun Gong in 1995, quickly gaining good health, an open and clear mind and overall well being.

On July 20, 1999, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began to persecute Falun Gong. Because Ms. Gu started practicing Falun Gong very early on and often taught others, the police regarded her as a key Falun Gong practitioner and continuously harassed her. Ms. Gu treated these policemen with a warm and friendly heart. She talked to them about daily life, history and the current political situations, which made them good friends.

Unfortunately, Ms. Gu was still detained many times. She went to Tiananmen Square to appeal for justice for Falun Gong. This led to her arrest and incarceration in the Chaoyang District Detention Center. She thought that Falun Gong practitioners' legal appeals were not wrong, so she firmly requested to be released. The guards in the detention center stripped her of all her warm clothing, leaving only her underclothes, and tied her with tape to a cross made from a snow-covered door plank. They then deliberately placed her in a windy spot where it was freezing cold. In addition, they immobilized her mouth with tape in order to prevent her from crying for help.

One of the guards was filled with elation and said, "I like to see the female Falun Gong practitioners being tied to the cross, especially menses flowing down the door plank. I force-fed Mei Yulan to death! Another dead practitioner is no big deal."

The young guard was later diagnosed with cancer and died suddenly.

The guard ordered specific inmates to watch over Ms. Gu and then went into another room to warm himself. Ms. Gu was freezing and numb from the cold.

Soon after her return home, during the first six months of 2005, the policemen in Beijing started to implement a wide range of brainwashing sessions. All the Falun Gong practitioners whose names were on a police list were forcibly put into a brainwashing class. While in one of these classes, the criminals there prevented Ms. Gu from sleeping. They called this torture, "stewing the eagle." At the same time, collaborators verbally barraged her continuously in attempts to brainwash her. Ms. Gu came to have a clear mind about the meaning of "reform" after she saw the reformed collaborators’ fierce and insane behavior.

Because she determinedly persisted in her belief, the brainwashing class supervisor made her group leaders work on persuading her to give up. The leaders told her that her employers would lose the honor of "Outstanding Enterprise" due to her Falun Gong practice. Ms. Gu was deeply touched by their words and then wrote the guarantee statement against her better judgment, thinking these leaders were her old friends and she didn’t want to hurt them. After returning home, Ms. Gu clearly realized that the people who ordered the persecution and launched the persecution were guilty; not those who practice "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance" and benefit from cultivation. She thus published a solemn statement on the Clearwisdom website to declare her guarantee statement null and void.

Due to this solemn statement, the policemen again started to harass her. As a result, she opted to go into exile. Around the 2002 Chinese New Year, the police detected her cell phone signal and illegally arrested her on the outskirts of Beijing.

Ms. Gu was sentenced to one and a half years in a forced labor camp. In March 2002 she was incarcerated in the 2nd Squadron of the 4th Group in the Beijing Women's Forced Labor Camp. She went on a hunger strike to protest. In order to persecute her, the deputy leader of the 4th Group, Xu Yanling, incited a criminal to make Ms. Gu squat as punishment and slap her in the face.

Even though life at the forced labor camp was very hard, Ms. Gu still kept optimistic. Sometimes she sang an opera tune for everybody around her.

When the SARS epidemic broke out in 2003 in Beijing, the forced labor camp did not dare to keep so many people detained there; therefore, a group of Falun Gong practitioners were released ahead of their terms. The local police took Ms. Gu home from the labor camp in April. All the released Falun practitioners were transferred from the forced labor camp to the local police stations. The local policemen asked Ms. Gu if she had made progress in her development in the labor camp. She replied that a compassionate human being is full of love. The policeman said with a smile that Ms. Gu was still the same.

As soon as she returned home, Ms. Gu received a hospital notice indicating that her 80-year-old mother was close to death. She went to Shanghai to visit her mother and told her what she had suffered over the years, having never told her mother anything about it before. Her mother was very angry with the CCP’s evildoings and berated them loudly, which resulted in the old woman’s recovery! She then left the hospital very quickly.

After her mother became healthy, Ms. Gu Xiaohua again returned to Beijing. Unfortunately, she was suddenly arrested in 2005. She was originally detained in the 7th Division of Beijing City Police Department, where the most steadfast Falun Gong practitioners were held for over two months. The policemen ransacked her home and seized her computer. Due to a lack of evidence they had to return the computer. Later, they transferred her to the detention center of the Chaoyang District Police Department, and detained her there for nearly one year. The responsible deputies claimed that they had transferred the case to the court and were awaiting sentencing; however, she was prevented from meeting with her attorney, and also could not get any information from the court.

The policemen said that someone quoted something she was supposed to have said, but Ms. Gu Xiaohua never acknowledged such unsubstantiated "evidence." Regardless of these facts, Ms. Gu was sentenced to four years in prison and detained in the Beijing Women's Prison. Furthermore, the court rejected her appeal and upheld Ms. Gu’s original verdict.

At present we cannot get any more specific details about Ms. Gu’s arrest and sentencing.

A Falun Gong Practitioner from Jiamusi City Recounts the Persecution She Suffered

In November 2000 I went to a fellow practitioners' home. Unexpectedly, police officer Zhong Qiang from the Youyi Road Police Station in Jiamusi City was also there. A male practitioner was also there at the same time. Zhong Qiang told me to come in. Thinking that I could "clarify truth" to him so that he would stop doing more evil deeds, I entered. Zhong would not listen to what I told him, but called someone in the Yonghong District Police Department. Several male police officers arrived. They rushed into the place and took away Falun Gong materials, videotapes, a VCR and other belongings. They announced that a gathering of three or more people would be counted as an illegal gathering; hence they arrested the three of us.

As a matter of fact, I had just met that male practitioner by accident. The other two practitioners were a married couple. The police officers arrested the male practitioner, the husband and me and detained us in the Youyi Road Police Station. We were locked up separately. From my cell I could clearly hear the sound of someone being beaten. I also heard screaming, scolding and cursing. When I saw the other two practitioners again, one had his hands handcuffed behind his back. He was taken back home. His home would be searched. The other was beaten and had marks and dirt all over his body. There were shoe marks on his face. It would be difficult to imagine how vicious the police officers' behavior was, had I not seen it with my own eyes.

We were tortured from 7:00 p.m. till 2:00 a.m. Without our signatures or any legal documentation the police officers transported us to the Jiamusi Detention Center. A fellow practitioner tried hard to rescue us from detention. We were released after being detained for six days.

Once at home, police officer Zhong Qiang kept harassing me. I decided to leave home and become destitute, to avoid further persecution. The Youyi Road Police Station officials sent agents to my home several times and tried to force my mother to tell them where I was. My mother adamantly refused. The police then found my sister. They stayed around her residence for several days and nights, intending to arrest me again. They sent my family's phone number to the city national security bureau to monitor the phone calls. Once, one of my family members called his place of work to ask how many copies they needed for some kind of materials. The national security bureau agents mistakenly thought that I was planning to make copies of Falun Gong materials. They absurdly went to the district government building, which made the district government officials so confused that they did not know what to say. Because of this, my family members were very upset, so they cut the telephone line.

In December 2002 I went to distribute Falun Gong materials. Three farmers who did not know the truth of Falun Gong abducted me and took me to the local Changqing Police Station in the suburban area. Li Wanyi, from the suburban police department, tried to force me to give up practicing Falun Gong and to betray the other practitioners. I refused. Persecutor Li yelled, "I must arrest two to three more people because of you. I must sentence you to seven years of imprisonment."

Eventually, they realized that they would not be able to get anything they wanted from me, hence they transferred me to the Jiamusi City Detention Center, where I suffered from torture for one month and three days. In addition, I was sentenced to three years of forced labor.

On the first day in the labor camp, nine other practitioners and I were forced to stand in the hallway. The guard Zhang Xiaodan yelled at us; then she and some others forced us to take off our clothes for a body search. If they found someone hiding Master Li's lectures, they would beat the practitioner brutally. After that, they tried to force us to "reform" and write the "five statements" to break off with Falun Gong. I refused. Then they started to use physical punishment. Zhang Xiaodan and Liu Yadong used handcuffs behind my back to tie me onto the edge of the metal bed. My two elbows were forcefully cuffed together by stretching the muscle, which would have been impossible under normal circumstances. It caused extreme pain. Later, because I refused to renounce Falun Gong, refused to write the five statements or to write any slanderous statements, I was handcuffed behind my back twice more. Doing this were group leader Hong Wei and male police officer Wang Tiejun. They used high voltage electric batons to shock me and at the same time beat and kicked me. They also pulled my hair. The brutal handcuffing behind my back torture severely injured my arms. It took over a year for my right arm to heal. My left arm was even more injured. In the evenings it hurt so much that I could not fall asleep or turn. I could only rely on the practitioner next to me to help me to turn over during the night.

I was still compelled to do the forced labor, even though my arms were still swollen and hurt, and the wrists and backs of my hands were full of bruises. I said to the persecutors, "Since my arms are severely injured I should do less labor." For my question, the head Jiang Jianan berated me.

In 2003 I was forced to sit on a small, ridged stool for over six months. Afterwards, I was tortured in this way periodically. For food we had to eat black steamed buns full of sand and small pebbles. After a long time like this, the steamed buns were made from better ingredients. Three times a day we had some boiled cabbage and turnips with a little drop of oil. Whenever there was an inspection team coming to the labor camp, the cafeteria would made some rice porridge with some additional dishes. After the inspection team was gone, everything would return to "normal." This is an obvious indication that the labor camp embezzled our boarding expenses.

As mentioned above, when I was in poor physical condition, I was still forced to do excessive hard labor. If I could not accomplish the task, I would have to do overtime.

We not only suffered from physical torture, but also mental torment. We were body searched once every couple of days. If someone was found hiding Master Li's lectures, he/she would have been tortured or their jail terms would have been extended. After returning to our cells from the workshop, we would often find our belongings rifled through, with our clothes and personal items scattered here and there. Our places were ransacked! The guards claimed that they were just doing a safety check. As a matter of fact, they were searching for Master Li's lectures so that they could torture us more. Even more ridiculous, whenever our family members came to visit us, they would be forced to slander Master Li and Falun Gong. If they refused, they would be forbidden to see us.

There was no logical reasoning inside the labor camp. It was a daily routine for us to be insulted and beaten. Even one's releasing from the labor camp required a person to sign some so-called "help-education agreement" demanding the practitioners to willingly "reform." If the practitioners refused to sign the agreement, either the guards would force you to sign, or the guards would sign for you; otherwise the practitioners would be brutally beaten. Practitioner Sun Xuelian refused to sign. A certain male guard then brutally beat her, covering her legs with severe bruises.

During the three years inside the labor camp, my family suffered heavy mental pressure as well as financial losses. My mother became ill and had to be treated in the emergency room several times.

The only reason I suffered from these tortures is that I strictly disciplined myself according to "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance," to become a good person.

The Persecution of 69-Year-Old Ms. Hui Ruiying

[Note: The following is an excerpt of an article that appeared on the Minghui.org website (Chinese version of Clearwisdom.net).]

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Hui Ruiying, 69 years old, went to Beijing to appeal at the end of 1999. She was taken to Anqiu Liaison Office in Beijing and was held there for three days, being later sent to the Anqiu Police Department. She went to Beijing to appeal for the second time and was again detained. Ms. Hui held a hunger strike to protest the persecution and was released three days later. The officials sent two people to watch Hui Ruiying at the end of 1999. They wouldn't let Hui Ruiying's husband leave home and they wouldn't let her son to go to work. Her husband fell ill from frustration and anxiety and gave up practicing Falun Gong. He died in 2004 after medical treatments failed to help. Hui Ruiying was arrested in September 2004 while distributing truth clarification materials. She was taken to the Anqiu Detention Center and held there for 27 days. While incarcerated, the police ransacked Ms. Hui's home. She was tortured at the detention center until she suffered a heart attack. Agents from the 610 Office were afraid she might die. They extorted 10,000 yuan from her family before letting her go home. Hui Ruiying's oldest son was detained for more than eight days in 2000 and was extorted 5,000 yuan.

After April 25, 1999, practitioner Cheng Yuying's phone was tapped and she was followed when she left home. The police drove Cheng Yuying to the Chengguan Education Committee on July 20, 1999 and held her there. They forced her to write a guarantee statement and held her for 15 days. After she went home, her employers sent people to watch her daily. Cheng Yuying decided to go to Beijing to clarify the truth about Falun Gong to the government. Officers from the Tiananmen Square Police Department in Beijing arrested her in early 2000, and then she was incarcerated by officers from Weifang Police Department's Liaison Office in Beijing. She was detained for two days after she was taken back to Anqiu. Cheng Yuying went to Beijing again in June 2000. Officials from Anqiu Liaison Office in Beijing arrested her. They took her to the Liaison Office in Beijing, where they beat and kicked her. Then they took her to a school. After she went home they followed her wherever she went and tapped her home phone. Cheng Yuying left home and lived in exile for two years. The persecutors arrested her again and held her for two days in January 2001. Another arrest followed on March 1, 2002 when she was handing out fliers. The officers from Dongguan Police Station participated in this arrest and took her to a brainwashing class held by the "610 Office" in Anqiu.
