  • Rapist He Xuejian Sentenced; Justice Still Not Served in the Case of Victim Liu Jizhi

Baoding City Intermediate Court in Hebei Province recently conducted three secret trials concerning the case in which a policeman from Dongchengfang Town, Zhuozhou City, Hebei Province raped two Falun Gong practitioners on November 25, 2005. The court finally delivered a judgement: Defendant He Xuejian is guilty of the rape charges and is sentenced to eight years in prison. He is also guilty of indecent harassment of women and is sentenced to three years in prison. The court decided he would serve eight years of imprisonment.

The High People’s Court of Hebei Province rejected an appeal from He Xuejian on June 8, 2006 and upheld the original verdict.

On November 25, 2005, Falun Gong practitioner Liu Jizhi was severely beaten and raped by policeman He Xuejian from Dongchengfang Town police station. Her buttocks and legs were covered with bruises.

A summary of the rape case is as follows: On November 24, 2005, Song Xiaobin, Dongchengfang Town Political and Judiciary Committee secretary and Chai Yuqiao, Director of the Comprehensive Management Committee, as well as agents from the local police station arrested five Falun Gong practitioners. The next afternoon, November 25, policeman He Xuejian raped Falun Gong practitioners Liu Jizhi and Han Yuzhi. Afterwards, the lawless personnel from the Judiciary and Political Committee also extorted a 3,000-yuan "fine" from the victims’ families. Because Liu Jizhi and Han Yuzhi exposed the abuse they experienced at the hands of the police, the vicious Chinese Communist Party (CCP) members offered a reward of 100,000 yuan for the victims' arrests. On March 7, 2006, many people working in the Air Force Compound commercial laundry in Xisanqi, Haidian District, Beijing, witnessed the arrest of Liu Jizhi and her daughter. However, agents from the police department in Zhuozhou City flatly denied the arrests.

After the rape crimes of He Xuejian were exposed, people with a sense of justice around the world including those inside China strongly condemned the persecution of Falun Gong, demanding that the offender be punished. The Zhuozhou City Police Department was under great pressure. They were all trying to protect themselves, making up stories that were riddled with holes to cover up their wicked behavior. The authorities formally arrested He Xuejian on December 11, 2005.

The prosecuting authority, the Baoding City People’s Procuratorate, accused "defendant He Xuejian, during the time when he was working temporarily at the Dongchengfang Town Police Station, of molesting victim Liu Jizhi’s breasts and genitals area and acting indecently towards her at around 1:00 p.m. in the afternoon of November 25, 2006, after he had called Liu Jizhi to his office. Liu Jizhi was detained at the police station at that time after she had been reported of involvement in illegal Falun Gong activities. [Note: Here, it states that Liu Jizhi did not accuse the defendant of raping her; instead she accused him of acting indecently toward her. There must be a case within the case.] After Liu Jizhi left his room, He Xuejian called another detained Falun Gong practitioner, Han Yuzhi, into his room and forced her to take off her pants and raped her." The Procuratorate believes that "the defendant He Xuejian violated Item 1 of Article 236 and Item 1 of Article 237 of the Criminal Law of the People’s Republic of China; the facts of the crimes are substantiated by sufficient evidence and action should therefore be taken against the defendant for crimes of rape and indecency toward women."

At 9:00 a.m. on May 15, 2006, the Baoding City Intermediate People’s Court held the first secret trial in the case, which was attended by victim Han Yuzhi and her legal representative (her husband) Liu Jianzeng, defendant He Xuejian, his father He Jianpo and his defender An Xingyu from the Hebei Province Xinzheng Law Firm.

During the trial, victim Liu Jizhi failed to appear in court for various reasons and did not have a legal representative, either.

On March 7, 2006, Liu Jizhi and her daughter were arrested in Beijing by Baoding City’s "Special Case Team" and were illegally detained for 21 days at Xishan Hotel in Mancheng County. Liu Jizhi was taken by Zhuozhou City 610 Office agents to the Nanma brainwashing center on March 28, 2006 where she was detained for 16 days. On April 13, Liu Jizhi was again taken by Zhuozhou City 610 Office agents, this time to the Baoding City No. 2 Central Hospital (located in Zhuozhou Area), where she was illegally detained for 64 days.

On May 13, the Baoding Intermediate People’s Court summoned Liu Jizhi to attend the first trial session of the case. Liu Jizhi requested to go to court, but Gao Xuefei, head of the Zhuozhou City 610 Office and Chen Guiting and Zhang Shun stood in the way to prevent her from going. The trial was scheduled for 9:00 a.m. on May 15. Yet, by 8:07 a.m. that morning nobody took any notice of the matter and no vehicle arrived to take Liu Jizhi to court. Liu Jizhi asked the police guard to call Gao Xuefei; but Gao tried to confuse her by saying that he was in Baoding one minute and the next minute saying he was in Zhuozhou. They were stalling for time. When it was too late to go, Liu Jizhi said angrily, "I’m not going any more!" After she said this, within 10 minutes or so, Zhang Shun, Gao Xuefei and Chen Guiting arrived with pen and paper and an ink pad in their hands. Zhang Shun queried Liu Jizhi, "So, you are not going, right?" Liu said, "No, I’m not going any more." Then she asked, "Isn’t it the same whether I go or not?" Zhang replied, "It is the same. Don’t worry." Chen Guiting said to Liu Jizhi, "Come and write a pledge. Just say you do not want to go to court of your own accord." Liu Jizhi said, "I don’t know how to write." Chen then wrote the pledge for her and told Liu Jizhi to sign the pledge. Liu Jizhi said, "I can’t write my name properly." Chen wrote her name on another piece of paper and asked Liu Jizhi to copy it. He then told her to put a fingerprint on the pledge and took it away.

At 9:00 a.m. on May 22, the Baoding Intermediate People’s Court conducted a second trial of the case and established the fact that He Xuejian raped Han Yuzhi. As for the fact of He Xuejian raping Liu Jizhi, the court decided that there was insufficient evidence. It is said in the judgement, "Defendant He Xuejian admitted numerous times that he acted indecently toward Liu xx by molesting and touching her, but he didn’t admit to having had intercourse with Liu xx. Wang Huiqi also only confirmed that defendant He Xuejian molested and touched Liu xx. As there is only testimony from Liu xx, accusing defendant He Xuejian of having forced intercourse with Liu xx, and in absence of any other supporting evidence, the court decides that there is insufficient evidence of He Xuejian having forcible intercourse with Liu xx and established the mere fact that He Xuejian had molested Liu xx’s breast and genital area."

A week after the trial ended on June 8, at 5:00 p.m. on June 15, Zhuozhou City 610 Office agents suddenly notified Liu Jizhi’s family that she was taken back from the Baoding City No. 2 Central Hospital. Liu Jizhi has lost 100 days of personal freedom to date after her recent Beijing arrest.

According to other sources, Han Yuzhi’s husband has sold their family property and vowed to get justice for his wife. He will continue to investigate and establish the legal responsibilities of Song Xiaobin, Chai Yuqiao and others involved in what happened to his wife and seek civil compensation.

Brother and Sister Appealing for Their Mother Are Beaten by Police on the Street

Because Ms. Zhu Yan practices Falun Gong, her residence has been illegally searched several times and she has been detained several times. That kind of pressure led to a separation between her and her husband.

Police Chief Chen Xingzhu from the Longtan District's Gangyao Town Police Precinct in Jilin City, Jilin Province, illegally arrested Ms. Zhu. The arrest happened in October 2005. The police did not show any official documents when they arrested her. They did not inform her family, either. Zhu Yan was detained in the #3 Detention Center. Her 18-year-old daughter and 20-year-old son were left at home without any income. They went everywhere to look for her. Approximately a month and a half later they found out at the local police station that their mother had been sentenced to one-and-a-half years of forced labor and was incarcerated in the Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp in Changchun City, where she is currently.

Despite the attempted violent, forceful efforts to "reform" Zhu Yan in the labor camp, she still will not give up her belief in Falun Gong. She has suffered from various kinds of physical punishment and sustained physical and mental trauma.

A few days ago, many people in Ms. Zhu's hometown heard rumors about her having been tortured to death. Hearing this, her children were terrified and devastated. Now that everyone in the world knows that agents from the Chinese Communist regime harvest organs from living Falun Gong practitioners for financial gain, the children desperately wanted to see their mother. Overcoming many difficulties, they finally got to see her at the labor camp. However, Ms. Zhu was very weak. Because the police and the inmates who were assigned to "sandwich" her keep a close eye on her, her son and daughter could only talk to her on the phone with a thick glass wall in between. They had only spoken a few sentences when a prison guard took Ms. Zhu away. Alarmed at their mother’s poor physical condition, they went to beg the labor camp officials to release her. The officials told them to go petition those who arrested her. If they agreed, they would release her.

Around noon on June 12, 2006, the two young people went to the local Gangyao police precinct. They held up a one-by-two-meter banner to appeal for their mother. In the middle of the banner were large characters reading "Injustice" and "Kindhearted People, Please Help." On both sides it also read: "Illegal Imprisonment, No Doors Open for Appeal, Having a Belief System Is Not a Crime, Good and Bad Will Earn Appropriate Returns." "Return Our Mother, Return Our Family, Return Our Freedom."

They had been there for just a few minutes when a police car stopped in front of the daughter. A man stepped out of the car. He was Police Chief Chen Xinzhu from the Gangyao precinct. Two other officers emerged from the station. One was Li Hongqi, the other was Piao Chenggang, the political head. They asked the brother and sister why they were there. Then they tried to drag them inside to "solve the problem." Police Chief Chen yelled, "Tear up that banner!" They advanced menacingly to take the banner away. The two young adults dared not enter the police station. Another, unnamed officer approached. At Chief Chen's command, the four police agents dragged and beat the two young adults.

Many onlookers had by then gathered. In front of these people, Chen and Piao violently beat and kicked the two youngsters. Chen beat the son to the ground; then he beat the daughter. Neither are practitioners. The two of them struggled and shouted, "Policemen are beating people!" Chen said, "It’s a Falun Gong issue. What can you do even if we beat you?" Upon saying this, they beat the two even more. The son's mouth was bleeding. His forehead was swollen and bleeding. His back and arms were injured. He fell to the ground.

The onlookers tried to stop the police. One kind-hearted person went up and said, "It is illegal for police to beat people, especially two innocent young adults." Chen said, "It’s illegal to beat people, but we will take them to the hospital if something goes wrong."

The scars and bruises on the son’s arm

In the meantime, the unnamed policeman pushed the daughter to the ground. Chen then grabbed her hair and pulled her up and down several times. Much of her hair was pulled out and her clothes were torn. Chen then fiercely kicked her lower back. The daughter held one police officer's hand and cried, "Uncle Police, don’t you have any conscience at all? You also have a wife, children and parents. Your children might be about my age. Can you treat them like this? If their mother was tortured like ours, wouldn’t they go to ask for her back?"

Many onlookers shed tears. Some said that the police were very brutal; others said, "Policemen have no conscience." As Chen’s car started to drive away, the daughter stopped it to reason with him. She asked Chen to give her brother medical treatment. Chen then shifted the responsibility to the other police officers. He also said, "I have treated you nicely today. I could have just put you two in jail as well." Saying this, he left.

The daughter crawled to her brother, who was by then unconscious. She held her brother and cried. Some kind-hearted people helped hold him up. Someone said, "It’s very pitiful to have been beaten like this." Another person said, "Go find a video camera and keep this as a record."

One person called the young peoples' uncle and aunt. The uncle went to the police station to look for the ones who beat his niece and nephew. None of the police would admit hitting them. Many kind-hearted people said, "Go sue them. We’ll be your witnesses. We saw everything. We’ll be available whenever you ask for us!" Some others said, "Why don’t you hit them? Scratch their faces. In that situation, no matter what you do to them, it would be all right. It is self-defense. They are law enforcement employees but have violated the law on purpose; hence they have doubled the degree of the crime."

Chief Chen walked away after severely beating innocent people. He certainly would not admit to the crime. The aunt sent the nephew to the hospital and spent over 200 yuan to treat his wounds.

This is the hospital receipt for the cost of the treatment Zhu Yan's son received after being beaten by Chen

About Rao Deru, the Young Daughter of Falun Gong Practitioner Rao Zhuoyuan from Guangzhou City

Guangzhou City Falun Gong practitioner Rao Zhuoyuan and his wife Lin Qian were both medical workers. He was an excellent food inspector at Guangzhou City Health Station and she worked in the Guangdong Province Oral Cavity Hospital. The whole family started to practice Falun Gong in December 1994.

Rao Deru (at fourteen months) with her parents

Rao Deru (at three years old) with her dad

Since Jiang’s regime started to persecute Falun Gong, the home of Rao Zhuoyuan’s parents has been ransacked. Rao Zhuoyuan was illegally arrested and detained in forced labor camps and mental hospitals several times. He was tortured to death on August 5, 2002, at age 34. At the time, his daughter Rao Deru was only four and a half years old. His older brother, Rao Chaoyuan, was 42 years old. He was arrested in December 2000 and secretly sentenced to prison. Currently, he is detained in Guangdong Province's Sihui Prison. One of his legs has been disabled from torture.

The following is Rao Deru's situation now.

Rao Deru is eight years old. When she was only a little over one year old, her father Rao Zhuoyuan traveled to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Gong and was detained. When she was two, her father was sent to a mental hospital to be persecuted. When she was three, her father was sent to brainwashing center. Deru's grandmother could not withstand so many tragedies, and her previous mental disorder returned. Deru's father was released after her mother requested his release from the 610 Office. After just one day, however, the evil 610 Office attempted to arrest him again. Her father had to leave her young mother and the two-year-old Deru with tears in his eyes. Just one month after he left home, Deru's father was arrested at a truth-clarification materials production site and was sent to a forced labor camp. Because her father persisted in his belief and refused to be "transformed," the guards at the labor camp beat him and handcuffed him to a basketball frame for 15-16 hours each day, rain or shine. Mr. Rao was tortured so severely that he was sent home a mere 78 lbs.

While her father was recovering at home, the Haizhu District 610 Office was frantic and detained Deru's mother in a brainwashing center in order to prevent her from speaking out about the abuse. After five months, when her mother was still detained, the authorities abducted her father again. He had only slightly recovered. After twelve days, Deru's father was tortured again and his fifth cervical vertebra was fractured. He passed away one month later. Because of this, Deru's young mother suddenly aged a dozen years and the young Deru lost her smile due to the loss of her father.

Little Deru has experienced so much. Both of her parents have been detained at the same time. When she and her mother visited her father in the brainwashing center, Deru held onto the metal door of the brainwashing class and would not leave. She cried, asking for her father. In the hospital, Deru has experienced the parting of her family forever. She understands a lot. Many times now, she has followed her mother to distribute truth-clarifying materials and clarify the truth.

After the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party came out, Deru initially requested to quit the Young Pioneers League. She was isolated and discriminated against by her classmates. Her father died of persecution, and she has an over 70-year-old grandmother who cannot take care of herself. Rao Deru's mother carries such a heavy burden. Her mother has to bear sorrow and pain of the persecution and losing her husband, independently support the family and maintain a normal life with huge effort. The practice and power of Falun Gong is the only support for her mother.

However, the perpetrators from the CCP's 610 Office not only didn’t have any sympathy, but also constantly disturbed and threatened the family. They constantly imposed pressure and mental persecution upon the family. Since the details of Rao Zhuoyuan’s suffering and death were published in February 2005 on Clearwisdom.net, from April 2005 onward, the 610 Office of Haizhu District of Guangzhou City has made attempts to arrest her mother. Deru and her mother could not find a place in China to avoid being arrested. They were forced to escape to Thailand. Right now they are in a very difficult situation and need urgent help from the United Nations or some other governments and/or agencies.

Shijiazhuang Forced Labor Camp Tortures Falun Gong Practitioners To Disability

Since Jiang's evil scoundrel gang started persecuting Falun Gong in 1999, police officers from the 303th Squadron of the Shijiazhuang Forced Labor Camp have been torturing Falun Gong practitioners with extremely brutal means, causing many practitioners to be severely injured or disabled. The assailants include: Xu Haijun, instructor Li, Zhang Zhong, police officer Liu , and police officer Xu.

One practitioner with the surname Wu was brutally beaten and hung up with ropes. Steel needles were hammered through his fingers, the joints of his four limbs and his toes were smashed with a hammer, his entire body was shocked with electric batons, and two chopsticks clipped together were used to crush his fingers.

Another practitioner with the surname Zhao was brutally beaten and handcuffed with his arms behind his back. He was hung up from a ceiling heating pipe and salt water was poured onto wounds incurred after a previous brutal beating. His forehead was wounded and was wrapped up with a bandage to stop the bleeding.

A practitioner with the surname Bi used to be the instructor of a police station. He was strong and tall. Now, due to the torture of being forced to stand for long periods of time, he has become paralyzed in the lower half of his body, causing loss of control over urination and bowel movements.

A practitioner with the surname Qi was kept in isolation for several days. When he was seen again, one of his legs was broken and he kept on falling down when trying to walk.

Practitioner Mr. Liu used to serve in PLA Marine and was tall and strong. He was repeatedly beaten and hung up by handcuffs. The vicious police guards would pour water all over his body before shocking him with multiple electric batons at the same time. Police officer Xu Haijun (male, group leader) beat Mr. Liu until he was deaf. Once when Mr. Xu was doing the sitting meditation exercise, the guards lifted him up and smashed his head against the wall.

One practitioner is a professor. He, too, was brutally tortured. When his workplace requested to bail him out, instructor Li demanded the professor to write a letter to the United Nations to defame Falun Gong, which the professor refused to do. Because of this, Li refused to do the paperwork required for releasing the professor on bail.

Another practitioner with the surname of Liu was forced to stand for many days. Later, he was held in a secret room where he was brutally tortured. Others often heard him moaning in pain.

The cases described above are only a small portion of the persecution that has been carried out against Falun Gong practitioners in the 303th Squadron of the Shijiazhuang City Forced Labor Camp.

Seventy-Four-Year-Old Practitioner from Lianshan Area in Sichuan Province Sent to Brainwashing Three Times

I am a 74-year-old Falun Gong practitioner from Liangshan Area in Sichuan Province. Since the persecution began on July 20, 1999, the local police have arrested and detained me any time they wanted and brutally abused and persecuted me while I was held in detention.

The first time I was tortured was on January 13, 2000. Officers from the Xicheng Police Station dragged me to a brainwashing center and held me there for four-and-a half months. The police officers cruelly tortured me.

Particularly during the more than three months I was held at the Mapingba Brainwashing Center, three police officers, named Zhou Xing, Hu Zhongjun and Li Yuxu, dragged me and other practitioners outside every couple of days and forced us to stand in the sweltering heat. Determined Falun Gong practitioners were savagely beaten and kicked. One day when they were "baking" us again, the police barbarically beat practitioner He Bingjie. Two officers held him up and threw him back on the ground while they beat and kicked him, as if they were kicking a ball. I felt terrible watching them. I thought, "I’m an old woman, it does not matter what they do to me." I shouted, "The police should not be allowed to beat people!"

The two officers turned around, grabbed my hair and started to beat and kick me. My arms turned black and blue and swelled from the beating. They subsequently handcuffed me to the monkey bar. I was forced to stay under the scorching sun for several hours. They beat me every few days and "baked" me, as well as verbally insulted me. I almost lost consciousness from dehydration. The police were vicious and completely devoid of human nature.

I confronted them by saying, "You said you would treat us like doctors treating patients, or teachers treating their students, at the brainwashing class. So why are you beating us, verbally abusing us and ‘baking’ us at your whim?"

The next round of torture took place on January 16, 2003, after I had been released. I went with a few other people to a tailor shop to pick up my clothes. Within five minutes, officers from the Dongcheng Police Station arrived and dragged us to the police station. They left us in the front yard. We were cold and hungry by the time we were let out at around 9:00 p.m. The police said, "We’ve caught a den of Falun Gong." They made us submit to being photographed. When it was my turn I struggled as much as I could and refused to cooperate. Two officers pushed my arms behind my back and held me up. I lowered my head as much as possible, almost touching the ground, so they could not get a picture of my face.

Police officer Wang Yongrong also verbally abused me. Ten days later I was sent to a brainwashing center for the third time and was held for 41 days.

I am an old woman in my 70s now, yet they had no scruples about arresting and persecuting me.

Where is justice? Why is it that the Chinese Communist Party does not let people just be good people?

Falun Gong Practitioners Expose the Persecution and Ms. Liu Jieying Is Released

Because of the rescue efforts of Falun Gong practitioners, Ms. Liu Jieying, who was persecuted and detained, is now back at home.

Liu Jieying is an engineer at the Liaoning Mechanical Institute. She started to practice Falun Gong in 1997. After the persecution began in 1999, her family members gave up cultivation and tried to force Ms. Liu to give it up too so that she would not incriminate the family. But she never faltered and tried her best to clarify the truth to her family. Her work unit knew that Liu Jieying practiced Falun Gong and came to know the facts about Falun Gong and the persecution from her.

Around April 5, 2006, Liu Jieying went to the bank machine on Sanhao Street in Shenyang City to deposit some money. The director of the Beiling Branch of the commercial bank found 21 pieces of cash with "Quitting the Chinese Communist Party" information on it and reported it to the police. The local 610 Office had asked each branch to help them catch people who were doing this.

On April 28, five policemen came to Liu Jieying's work unit and took her to Sanhao Street Police Station. Ms. Liu's computers at home and in the office and Falun Gong books were all taken away by police officers Xu Yongqin and Jiang Jun. On April 29, Liu Jieying was released and sent back to work.

On May 19, the police arrested Liu Jieying again from her work unit without showing any warrant, and sent her to a brainwashing center. Her family only was told that she was sent to "study," but they did not know the place or time. Only after a few days did her family find out that Ms. Liu was detained in the brainwashing center in Zhangshi Labor Camp, Shenyang City.

After the news was released, fellow practitioners disclosed the persecution of Liu Jieying. They called the police and warned them to stop the persecution. Liu Jieying was released; however, she is still being monitored by the police, even though she is back home.

The Persecution of Practitioners in the Yunnan Second Labor Camp

After 2004, the authorities at the Yunnan Second Labor Camp implemented unscrupulous persecution against the Falun Gong practitioners detained there. Many of them were tortured, and those who refused to accept brainwashing had their sentences extended for more than half a year. The villains at the labor camp are represented by Ban Zhigang, the head of the labor camp; Qu Kaiming. administration department leader; Chen Huanbing, education department leader; Yang Yongguang and Liang Jialiang, instructors of the Second and Fifth Teams, respectively; and the henchman Luo Zhongwu. They also used a heavy workload to persecute the detained practitioners, forcing them to do hard labor more than 15 hours a day, working them beyond human capacity. As a result, many practitioners’ hands and feet were terribly swollen.

Under these circumstances, many practitioners have become disabled, and some have even been persecuted to death. The Second Team’s work schedule is from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., and the First, Third, and Fifth Teams’ schedule is from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.. The Fourth Team runs a brick kiln which requires extremely heavy labor.

The following is information available about some of the practitioners detained in the Yunnan Second Labor Camp:

Mr. Guan Chengcai, 58, is from Sijie Town, Tonghai County. He was arrested when he and another practitioner, Bi Chaoqing, went to clarify the truth about Falun Gong at the local police station in July 2004. He was sent to this forced labor camp without trial after being held in a detention center for a long time.

Practitioner Wang Fei is being persecuted in the Third Team of the labor camp.

Shu Zhenhong, formerly a doctor at Kunming Steel Factory, is being persecuted in the Fourth Team.

Zhao Yonghua, formerly an employee at Kunming Steel Factory, is being persecuted in the Fifth Team.

Zhang Hong, detained in the Second Team, was forced to renounce his belief in Falun Gong under the persecution. He was pressured into writing such statements due to the inhumane persecution in the labor camp. Later he came to his senses and wrote a solemn statement to nullify his previous statements on April 17, 2005. Unfortunately, the subsequent torture rendered him unable to stand up to his belief and he once again wrote statements to denounce Falun Gong.

Tan Jianhui is being imprisoned in the Second Team.

Su Kun, another practitioner who continues to resist the persecution, is being denied visitation by his relatives. Anyone who practices Falun Gong in his family is not allowed to visit him, including his parents.

According to reliable sources, the practitioners who were sent to this forced labor camp for the second time include Li Zheng, an employee of the 14th Bureau of Forestry in Kunming; Chen Jinwu from Kunming; Deng Hui from Jianshui County; Wu Guiyou from Songming County; and Ye Baofu, formerly the leader of a hospital. They were illegally arrested by the 610 Office and sent directly to the labor camp for persecution.

Mr. Zhou Guangxiong from Wuxue City, Hubei Province, has been Arrested, Current Whereabouts Unknown

Note: The following is a shortened version of a longer and more detailed article that appeared on the minghui.ca website (Chinese version of Clearwisdom.net).

Mr. Zhou Guangxiong, 65, is a Falun Gong practitioner from Zhouguozhengyuan, Yuchuan Town, Wuxue City, Hubei Province. In 2005, the local authorities ransacked his home and found some copies of the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party. They then illegally arrested Mr. Zhou and took him to Wuxue City's First Detention Center. His whereabouts are unknown at this point. Because of his arrest, Mr. Zhou's wife lost her source of income. In order to make a living, she had to leave home and move from place to place.

Ms. Li Guangyan from Xinjin County, Chengdu City Illegally Arrested and Taken to the Caiwan Brainwashing Center in Xinjin County

Note: The following is a shortened version of a longer and more detailed article that appeared on the minghui.ca website (Chinese version of Clearwisdom.net).

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Li Guangyan, 68, is a retiree from the Nanhuagong Grain Supply Station in Xinjin County. She was illegally arrested twice in April 2006.

Police officers from Xinjin County took Li Guangyan away in mid-April 2006 without presenting any ID. They detained her at the Wujin Town Police Department for sixteen hours and ransacked her home. At noon on April 30, Xinjin County police officers, 610 Office agents and officials from her place of work arrested Li Guangyan and took her to the Caiwan Brainwashing Center in Xinjin County.

Li Guangyan started practicing Falun Gong in 1997. During the past seven years of persecution that started on July 20, 1999, Li Guangyan was illegally arrested and her home ransacked at least nine times. The Xinjin County police and 610 Office agents also took savings amounting to 9,000 yuan. Her employers have withheld the majority of Ms. Li's pension since 2003 and allotted her only about 30 yuan per month. The pension issue was resolved in late 2004, but the police never returned the 9,000 yuan they took from her.

Currently Li Guangyan is being held at the Caiwan Brainwashing Center in Xinjin County.
