RFA reported on June 12, 2006 that a female Falun Gong practitioner from Hong Kong was arrested and is still detained in Beijing for passing out fliers.
Arrested Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Liu Ding, 66, is a retired Hong Kong government employee who taught in public schools.
Ms. Liu's daughter Hu Ying said on Tuesday, June 6, 2006, that her mother went to deliver a meal to her father who is paralyzed and a long-term patient in the Guang'an Hospital in Beijing, but soon lost contact with her family. On the same evening her brother and other relatives went looking for her overnight and could not find her anywhere. On the morning of Wednesday, June 7, 2006, more than 10 policemen and State Security agents came searching their home in Beijing, telling her brother that Ms. Liu Ding had been arrested for passing out Falun Gong fliers to residents near the hospital. Police took away their computer, books, discs, and her brother's toolbox, among other things.
Ms. Hu Ying called Xuanwu District Police Department, asking why they detained her mother, but they would not issue a reasonable explanation. She was very upset about the accusations brought against her mother.
Ms. Liu Ding has a bone spur in her neck. She has been detained for six days. Her daughter Hu Ying and her family have been refused visiting privileges by police officials with the excuse that the case is under investigation. Her father has been unable to sleep since the incident. Ms. Hu Ying is very worried about her parents.
Ms. Hu Ying said that her mother is a permanent resident of Hong Kong, and they have requested help from the Hong Kong Immigration Department to secure the release of her mother.
Ms. Liu Ding was born in Hong Kong, graduated from Jinan University in Guangzhou, and taught in Beijing for 30 years. She continued teaching in Hong Kong in 1991, and then began teaching in Nongpudao Public Elementary School in Hong Kong in 1995. She retired in 2000. She has twice won merit awards from the Education Bureau for excellence in teaching. Due to her husband's sickness, she came back to Beijing to take care of him.
The Falun Dafa Association in Hong Kong issued a declaration requesting the release of Ms. Liu Ding and other detained Falun Gong practitioners immediately. Six Hong Kong residents, including Ms. Liu Ding, have been arrested and detained in Mainland China, and only three of them have been released thus far.
Falun Gong Practitioners are still being brutally tortured at Masanjia labor camp in Liaoning province. Practitioners Xie Dewen, Yan Chunjiao, Wang Huinan, Yuan Shuzhe, Yang Liwei, Long Shufen, Wang Manli, Zhou Hua, Zou Xiuju and others are handcuffed twenty-four hours a day, and tied to a bed in the shape of cross for at least fourteen hours a day. Such tortures have lasted for more than half a month.
In the morning of February 23, 2006, because Xie Dewen refused to corporate with the persecutors and sit on a small stool, she was pushed to the ground by Liu Yong, the management office director of the labor camp. She struggled to stand up and was beaten again. Xie Dewen shouted, "Falun Dafa is good," and Liu repeatedly slapped her face and forced her to stand facing the wall. Later, she was struck four times in the face by police officer Chen Jingmin because she refused to wear a prison uniform. Chen then complained that her hands hurt and she should have used slippers instead so that her hands would not hurt. Chen Jingmin also beat practitioner Yang Liwei on the face. Xie Dewen was also struck in the face by police Wang Qi. Police Yan Shiguang punched her face and hit her hands with a broom handle (her hands were handcuffed behind her back).
On February 27, 2006, practitioner Zhou Hua, who was on a hunger strike, was beaten up by police officer Li Jun.
On April 29, 2006, Yan Chunjiao was struck in the face over ten times by police officer Zhang Jun from the Masanjia labor camp management office. The office director Ma Jishan and his followers forced Yan Chunjiao to kneel down. After she refused to do so, Ma Jishan kicked her right foot, causing her ankle to swell up and become dislocated. She consequently was unable to walk normally and is still crippled. In addition, she was forced to wear a prison uniform and ID card and to do manual labor.
At the end of April 2006, Ma Jishan and Zhang Jun beat up Xie Dewen, causing her nose to bleed. She refused to wear an ID card and had not eaten for four days. They forced her to kneel down facing the wall. Her blood stained the wall and her clothes. The doctor who was in charge of force-feeding immediately washed away the bloodstains on her shirt. Police officer Ma Jishan cleaned the blood from her nose and Yu Wen (the director) said that they needed to toss out the stained clothes. To force-fed her, Cao Yujie pried her mouth open, which bent the spoon and caused bleeding and damage to her teeth. Cao then used a plastic syringe to pry her mouth open. As a result, the syringe was broken. They charged Xie for the cost. Then they went to look for a mouth opener. At around 5:00 P.M. on April 7, 2005, police Yu Wen kicked Xie Dewen in the face. Practitioners Sun Shuxiang and Wang Shuping were also beaten up. Sun Shuxiang suffered a nosebleed. Practitioner Wang Shuping was slapped in the face by police officer Wang Naimin, who was a member of the political committee in Masanjia labor camp. Police officer Guo Fangjie also punched practitioner Xie Dewen in the nose.
At around 8:00 A.M. on May 1, 2006, police director Ma Jishan asked Xie Dewen to put both her feet together. Xie refused. Ma said, "Wait and see how I deal with you." Ma Jishan tied her up on a "dead person bed," pried her mouth open with a mouth opener and then secured it around her neck. He pressed forcefully on her cheeks with both hands. After a long while, Cao Yujie, the doctor who was in charge of force-feeding came in. She said, "Oh, good. Everything is ready." Ma said, "Don’t hurry. Feed with a small spoon." Later they said that it took two hours. After finishing force-feeding, they did not remove the mouth opener. Because it was a holiday, the force-feeding was twice a day. It is usually three times a day.
In the morning of May 2, 2006, police Ma Jishan incited a vicious police doctor to force-feed a drug to Xie Dewen. They told her that it was antibiotics. But when the drug went into effect, Xie asked them what kind of medicine they had force-fed her with and why her heart felt so bad. Ma said, "Medicine for blood pressure." Police officer Chen Kai who was on site said that putting the pills on a small spoon would make it easier to feed them. They murmured something in low voice. Ma Jishan opened Xie’s mouth for the next force-feeding, damaging her lips and causing blisters on both sides of her mouth. Doctor Chen Bing directly poured food from a bowl. Ma Jishan stopped Chen saying: "Don’t hurry. Go about your own business if you are busy. Anyone can do the job." Chen force-fed for a while, ate some sunflower seeds, and said: "I will take a walk." Ma Jishan then continued the force-feeding. Ma said, "Wait and see how I deal with you. I will tie you up on a bed and you will come out dead." Chen Bing said: "Wait and see, we will make you urinate and defecate in bed."
On May 4, police Ma Jishan once again held Xie Dewen’s mouth open with a mouth-opener and force-fed her. When there was little porridge left in the bowl, Ma said, "Who has the time for her? Let’s insert the tubing." The doctor said, "Not necessary." They removed the mouth-opener a long time after the force-feeding was completed. As soon as Xie Dewen got up, Ma Jishan asked her: "Xie Dewen, where is your ID card?" They then held her down to the "dead person bed" and put a mouth-opener in her mouth while threatening her by saying: "Wait and see how I deal with her," and tied her up to the bed.
In the morning of May 9, because Xie Dewen refused to peel garlic, Liu Yong forced her to kneel down facing the wall. Xie refused. He then handcuffed her from behind and kicked her left leg, causing her to kneel down abruptly. Her right leg bumped into the edge of the metal bed and her face hit the metal bed pole. Liu Yong also put a chair against her back and tried to get someone to sit in the chair.
On May 10, Ma Jishan handcuffed Xie Dewen to a heating pipe and forced her to squat near a table because she refused to perform manual labor. Ma played a tape recording denouncing Falun Gong and kicked her, not allowing her to sit. In addition, she was dragged around by her hair. She has been handcuffed near the bed every day since.
Practitioners Xie Dewen and Yan Chunjiao refuse to wear ID cards and prison uniforms and refuse to do manual work to protest the persecution. They are forced to stand all day and only allowed to use the toilet four times a day. They are even handcuffed while asleep. They are not allowed to wash their underwear. The police even said that animals were tied up like this.
Every holiday, whenever I see parents take their children out to play, I think of my friend, Falun Gong practitioner Liang Mei and her daughter.
After Liang had her daughter, she contracted an incurable disease—rheumatoid arthritis. She sought medical treatment everywhere with no success. When she was ill, her husband not only failed to understand and take care of her, but considered her a burden. He was unkind to her, and often yelled at and beat her.
Through others’ introduction, Liang Mei began to practice Falun Gong. Gradually, her body got better. Her mental health also improved. Seeing her physical and mental changes, I quietly prayed for her.
After the persecution against Falun Gong started, Liang Mei went to Beijing to appeal, and was illegally detained. At her workplace, she was a good employee who followed Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance. However, due to fear of implications, her employer fired her. To protect their official positions, and for her husband to marry another woman to have a son (in China, the one-child policy prohibits one couple from having more than one child. However, if her husband married another woman who has not had children, he would be allowed the chance to have another child), her husband Qin Weidong and father-in-law Qin Jinzhu bribed the local authorities to sentence her to three years in a forced labor camp. Liang was sent to the Shibalihe Women’s Labor Camp in Zhengzhou. Her husband could not wait and quickly divorced her with assistance from court officials. Liang Mei was only given a small portion of their shared assets.
I have not heard from her for a long time. After she returned from the labor camp, once I ran into her on the street. I could hardly believe my eyes, as she had changed so much. She said that in the labor camp, every day she was watched by "personal cangues" who were inmates and tortured by the police. Once she was tied with a rope, and the rope injured her shoulder, resulting in limb pain and numbness. She was force-fed, and her nose and face were pinched so hard that the skin broke. The guards shook her teeth until they became loose. The food that was force-fed was poured down her larynx. She coughed often and suffered from chest pains and shortness of breath. Her hair fell out in handfuls, and she quickly became emaciated, dropping from 55 kg (120 lbs) to about 35 kg (80 lbs). Despite her extremely weak condition, the police often tied her up with rope, tortured her, injected her with unidentified drugs, and forced her to do hard labor.
After Liang returned home, her former employer visited her with pretended kindness, while their actual goal was to make her promise to no longer practice Falun Gong. Because she went to her former work unit to clarify the facts about her beliefs, the top leaders of the work unit (Zhoukou City Traffic Bureau of Henan Province) Li Zhaoqi and Yang Yuantao reported her to the provincial and municipal 610 Offices. She was persecuted so severely simply because she wanted to be a good person that follows "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance."
I was glad that Liang could return from the labor camp and reunite with her daughter. However, her ex-husband and ex-father-in-law used all kinds of excuses to prevent her from visiting her daughter. Her ex-husband said that her visits were distractions for her daughter. He also told her daughter that the clothes Liang gave her had poison on them and he would not allow the daughter to accept them. He told her daughter that being with Falun Gong practitioners would mean she would be arrested. They poured so much hatred into the young child, threatened her, and pressured her not to recognize her own mother.
One time when Liang went to her ex-father-in-law’s home to visit her daughter, her ex-husband yelled at and beat Liang and her relatives, and reported them to the police. They also made up many slanders about Liang to hide their own crimes.
Heavenly principles allow for rewards and retributions based on one’s actions. Since the persecution started in July 1999, the Zhoukou City Traffic Bureau, Liang’s former employer, has monitored, demoted, reported on and fired Falun Gong practitioners, as well as forced them to write letters promising to give up the practice. As they continued to persecute good people, they continued to receive karmic retribution. Deputy Chiefs Zhao Heping and Wang Liuxi died from sudden massive heart failures. Principle and Examinations Secretary Wang Guoshun was in a car accident which broke two of his ribs.
These wicked people have shown no signs of change. Since last
October, her former employer visited Liang’s relatives’ homes and won
their trust through deceit. They promised that Liang could return to
work unconditionally. When Liang returned to the Zhoukou City Road
Management Division, the division head Qian Zhewei asked her to promise
to never practice Falun Gong again. Liang rejected his unreasonable
request.
Ms. Li Ping, 32 years old, is employed in the Tianjin City municipal administration office in the Port Free Trade Zone. She started practicing Falun Gong in 1998. Since July 20, 1999, during the Chinese Communist Party’s persecution of Falun Gong, Li Ping suffered many instances of illegal arrest, detention and sentences. On December 19, 2005, Tanggu District Police Department once again arrested Li Ping. Due to her persistence in practicing Falun Gong, she was illegally sentenced to two years at a forced labor camp on January 16, 2006.
Tianjin City's Banqiao Women’s Forced Labor Camp applied devastating means of torture against Li Ping: putting her in a prison cell and letting other inmates monitor her tightly; not letting her get any sleep, not letting her eat, not letting her drink water, not letting her contact anyone, and not allowing her to write letters to her family and so forth.
Facing such inhuman persecution, Li Ping’s physical condition began to deteriorate and her will to live nearly collapsed. On March 3 she started a hunger strike to protest. In nearly two months, Li Ping became extremely weak. She could not get up from bed and was unable to walk. Her vision dropped dramatically and she was unable to see things clearly. Her tooth started bleeding due to being hit by the police with pliers during forced-feeding. Her heart is weak. She has become emaciated and is unable to take care of herself at the present time.
Li Ping is in critical condition. Her family members have requested that the labor camp release her for medical treatment. Banqiao Forced Labor Camp chief officer Hao Demin said, "Would we release her because of her hunger striking for a few days?" The re-education section head Liu Yuxia said, "She has not reached that kind of situation yet." The meaning is that she has not reached the end of her life.
Her family members have been everywhere to try to rescue Li Ping:
They went to the district Procuratorate appeals office to appeal on her behalf but there was no response. They went to see Zheng Lianlin, the department director of re-education twice and were rejected.
Ms. Li's family members went to Banqiao Forced Labor Camp again to attempt to visit her, yet the re-education section head Liu Yuxia rejected the visit. The head of the 3rd Group Li Wenjing not only didn’t allow a visit, but also asked for money from her family members by saying that Li Ping owed money to the labor camp for seeing a doctor. Her family members said they had no money at all.
April 26 was the official visiting day and her family members finally went to see Li Ping. She was carried out by others. She was so weak that she couldn’t talk and her vision was very bad. Her tooth continued to bleed.
May 26 was another official visiting day, but the camp rejected the visit. Li Wenjing said, "Li Ping is unable to walk out by herself, and since we don’t have anyone to carry her out, you cannot see her." Therefore, Li Ping’s family members didn’t get to see Li Ping. The labor camp didn’t accept the milk powder that her family brought, instead they were ordered to buy a box of milk powder from the labor camp store, where everything is very expensive.
Li Ping’s family was not able to learn any details of Li
Ping’s condition, and made phone calls to inquire about her. But the
policemen hung up the phone as soon as they knew someone was looking
for Li Ping, or they claimed it was a wrong number.
Falun Gong practitioner Ms.Yang Xingmei of Panlian Town, Miyi County in Sichuan Province was imprisoned and persecuted several times. In late 2000, she was illegally arrested and sent to a forced labor camp. Her 15-year-old daughter was left at home alone. Local police and government personnel repeatedly came to her home and threatened her. They didn't allow her to practice Falun Gong. The young girl was lonely, depressed and under huge pressure. She became addicted to drugs and died.
Yang Xingmei, 45, was a Falun Gong practitioner at the 4th Group, Diansuo Village, Panlian Town in Miyi County. In November 1999, when she went to Beijing for a peaceful appeal, she was arrested and imprisoned at the Panzhihua Government Office in Beijing. She was robbed by local police from Panzhihua and Miyi, and was illegally imprisoned for eight days in Miyi Detention Center. On the trip and while detained, she was beaten mercilessly many times by Yang Zihua and others from the political security section of Miyi Police Station. Later, she was arrested and taken to a brainwashing session in the town government for three days. Yang Xingmei was arrested the second time because she held an experience-sharing meeting. She was illegally imprisoned in the town of Panlian by village and town government officials, and she was brainwashed for four days. They punished her by forcing her to run and squat, didn't allow her to sleep, exposed her to the baking sun, and fined her 300 yuan.
When Yang Xingmei was imprisoned in Nanmusi Labor Camp, her 15 year-old daughter was left alone at home, with no one to care for her. The local police and government officials went to her home many times to harass and threaten the daughter. They forbade her from practicing Falun Gong. Under great pressure, she was forced to give up practice. Being unable to bear the loneliness, she became addicted to drugs and lost her life at such a young age.
On December 24, 2000, Li Xuesong and three other policemen arrested Yang Xingmei with the excuse that she was distributing truth-clarification materials. While she was detained in Miyi Detention Center, she was handcuffed, pushed against a wall and brutally beaten by police officers Liu Qichao, Lin Hai, Wu Xueming, Zhu Chenglong, Peng Yongchun, Hao Wanfa, Fu Wenhui, and others. She was sent to Nanmusi Forced Labor Camp, where she was tortured until she was released in late March 2002.
In December 1999, officials from the town of Panlian, Miyi County illegally arrested Falun Gong practitioners and forced them into brainwashing sessions. There they handcuffed and beat them with rubber clubs, and forced them to squat, along with other abuses. Falun Gong students were injured all over their bodies, and had difficulty walking. They were forced to clean streets for the village government of Panlian. The local officials forced each practitioner to pay 15 yuan per day (living expenses 5 yuan/day, beating-hands fee and management fee 10 yuan/day). Some practitioners had no money and were compelled to sign promissory notes. Then the evil went to their homes to demand the money.
From 1999 to 2003, Miyi Detention Center, with the police
department, illegally arrested, brutally beat and tortured Falun Gong
practitioners. They tortured practitioners to extract confessions. As a
result, three Falun Gong practitioners - Ms. Que Fazhi, Ms. Gu Xinzhi
and Ms. Yang Wenhui were persecuted to death. Dozens of practitioners,
including Chen Zhengzhi, Huang Tiancai, Gong Zhihui, Que Faxiu, Zhu
Zhaojie, Zhang Yuanlin, Wang Mei, Yang Shunfa, Fan Yuehai, and others,
were so badly injured that they became disabled.
Zuo Guoqing from Shaodong, Hunan Province Died as a Result of Persecution
Recently we have learned that practitioner Zuo Guoqing died as a result of being persecuted sometime between 2002 to 2004. Details are still under investigation.
Zuo Guoqing worked in Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province. After the persecution began on July 20, 1999, he was illegally detained and persecuted. In October 2000, policeman Wang Yingzhou brutally tortured Mr. Zuo, causing serious injuries. In 2002, he was critically injured and was rescued from jail by family members. He was brought back to his hometown in Shaodong County’s Shuangfeng Township, Hunan Province. He died shortly after. Before his release, Mr. Zuo was severely persecuted in Daqing Forced Labor Camp.
Chen Xiaoxia from Chongqing’s Beibei District Died as a Result of Persecution
Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Chen Xiaoxia lived in Jiangbei Middle School, Shuitu Town, Beibei District of Chongqing. Before she began to practice Falun Gong, she suffered from a congenital heart condition and could not do anything strenuous. During the hot summer, she had to wear long sleeved shirts and long pants; in the winter, she could not leave home when she had a slight fever, and all she could do was to stay in bed. Her frequent health problems affected her family; her husband Zhou Yong (a school teacher in Jiangbei Middle School) tried to divorce her several times. In 1997 she began to practice Falun Gong, in a short time all her symptoms vanished completely, and she began to live the healthy and happy life that she never had before. Her relationship with her husband became harmonious again.
After July 20, 1999 when the Communist Party began an illegal persecution against Falun Gong, Ms. Chen traveled to Beijing to appeal for justice and defend Falun Gong’s honor. In Beijing, before she had a chance to lodge her appeal, she was detained by the police and sent to Chongqing City’s liaison office in Beijing. A few days later, Chongqing police officers took her back and detained her in the Beibei Detention Center for nearly a month. Ms. Chen suffered inhumane torture in detention and her hands and feet were chained all the time.
After returning home, her family forbade her from practicing Falun Gong, because of pressure from the police and school. Soon her old diseases returned and she became so ill that she could not care for herself; finally, she lost the ability to speak. Chen Xiaoxia passed away in the first half of 2000, leaving behind a young son.
Shanxi Province: Du Shurong of Datong City Passed Away Due to Persecution
Ms. Du Shurong, 69, lived in Datong City, Shanxi Province. Since 1995, when she began to practice Falun Gong, all her illnesses disappeared. Since the evil persecution began in 1999, Ms. Du has traveled to Beijing three times to appeal for justice for Falun Gong and clarify the truth. As a result, she was detained for over 100 days.
One day in January 2001, the police broke into Du Shurong's home at 1:00 a.m. and arrested her and her husband. Du Shurong was sentenced to one year in a forced labor camp and her husband was sentenced to two years. Later, her family paid several tens of thousands of yuan to get them out. Subsequently, they were harassed and monitored constantly by the police: they were forced to collect recycled garbage for a living; their application for rental housing was denied repeatedly and they were forced to move seven times. As a result of the relentless persecution, the couple had no normal life. Du Shurong suffered from enormous mental stress, and as a result, her physical condition deteriorated gradually. She passed away on December 8, 2005.
Xinjiang Autonomous Region: Liu Shihui from Shihezi City Died From Persecution
Ms. Liu Shihui was in her 60’s. She lived in Shihezi City, Xinjiang Autonomous Region. Before the persecution, she was a coordinator for the Falun Gong practice site in District 14. In September 2000, Ms. Liu traveled to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Gong. The police arrested her and sent her back, and detained her in the Shihezi's 1st Detention Center for a month. After Liu Shihui returned home, she was harassed and intimidated by policemen Wang Heping, Zhang Shengli and Xu Ningdong of the Shihezi City police department (Wang later was promoted to political head of the national security branch in the Shihezi City police department). Under intense pressure from the police, Liu Shihui’s husband and two daughters forbade her from practicing Falun Gong. They constantly watched her. Ms. Liu suffered great mental stress and her physical health also deteriorated rapidly. On May 6, 2006 she died of lung and bone cancer. From the beginning of the persecution until her death, out of fear, her family refused to allow any visits by fellow practitioners.
In mid-May 2006, the remains of two Falun Gong practitioners, Ms. Fu Keshu and Mr. Xu Genli, were found on Jingang Mountain of Jiangxi province. The remains of Mr. Xu Genli were reduced to merely bones, while the remains of Ms. Fu Keshu were not yet decomposed.
Ms. Fu Keshu was a 54-year-old retired teacher of Kaiyang County, No.1 primary school. On November 16, 2005, she went to Jingang Mountain with her nephew Mr. Xu Genli (a businessman in Jinsha County) and an older woman of 65 years old, who lived at Yongxin Hotel on Jingang Mountain. The next day, Fu Keshu and Xu Genli went out and were never seen alive again. Since that time, nobody knew their whereabouts. Their family members reported their disappearance to the Ciping Police Department on November 29th, and they also searched for them through the TV and other media. They also went to various tourist areas to post information and inquire about them. They asked for help from local people to search dangerous rivers, mountains and caves, but still did not find them.
While searching for them, Jingang Mountain policeman Zhu came to talk with their family members many times. Some policemen said that between the 17th and the 18th, some people were distributing Falun Gong materials at Huangyangjie.
Ms. Fu Keshu graduated from college in March of 1971. In order to support remote areas, she came to Guizhou from Sichuan and taught in the village for many years. She often had the intense workload of 32 class hours each week, with 73 students in each class. She had become ill many times because of her intense work schedule. In August 1998, she had to retire because of her poor health. She went everywhere to treat her diseases, with little positive results. Shortly after that, she discovered Falun Gong and all of her illnesses cleared up and she was able-bodied once again. After the CCP began the persecution of Falun Gong, Fu Keshu was arrested by police for clarifying the truth of Falun Gong. Eventually, she was forced to leave home in order to escape the persecution.
On July 10, 2003 the local chief of the Education Administration Bureau Shi Yingchang and policeman Tao Darong went to her home. They forcibly took her to Lannigou Brainwashing Center and detained her for six months.
Fu Keshu and Xu Genli have now been found dead on Jingang Mountain. At present, police claim that they probably died suddenly somehow while traveling together. Two people suddenly disappeared one day at the same time, and their family members searched everywhere on Jingang Mountain for them. Now, after all this time their remains show up on Jingang Mountain, which is a little too strange. We would like to demand a full investigation into this case.
At 4:00 a.m. on May 25, 2006, police from the National Security Group of the Police Department of Xinji City, Hebei Province, suddenly entered the Dongchenjiazhuang Village of Nanzhiqiu Town. They illegally ransacked four Falun Gong practitioners’ homes, including that of practitioner Mr. Cai Zengcai. They forcibly took twelve practitioners to the Police Department of Xinji City. These practitioners were later transferred to the Xinji City Detention Center. They confiscated one television set, three VCD players, three tape recorders and one cash security box. Among the arrested practitioners, there were elderly practitioners in their seventies and children in their teens.
2. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Wang Xuemin on a Hunger Strike to Protest Persecution
On May 14, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wang Xuemin from Chuanying District of Jilin City was illegally arrested because someone reported her to the police. She was held in the Jilin City Detention Center and is now on a hunger strike to protest the persecution. At the same time, another practitioner from Jilin City, Ms. Lei Guixiang, originally from the Jiangnan region (the area south of the Yangtze River), was also on a hunger strike to protest the persecution.
3. [Qinhuangdao City] Falun Gong Practitioner Mr. Chang Lizhong Severely Tortured; It is not Clear Whether He is Still Alive
Practitioner Mr. Chang Lizhong from Qinhuangdao City was a graduate of a medical school and worked at the Radiation Department of the Qinhuangdao City Hospital of Chinese Traditional Medicine. He started to practice Falun Gong in 2001. Three times, he was illegally arrested by officials from his workplace and by the chief of the security section. In March 2006, the officials from his workplace again colluded with the 610 Office and the National Security Group. They arrested Mr. Chang Lizhong in the bike parking lot on the ground floor of his home after deceiving him into coming out of the house. He had just returned home from working the night shift. They held him in the 1st Detention Center, where he was inhumanely force-fed and brutally beaten with handcuffs and foot shackles on. Within only six days, he was tortured so severely that his entire body, hands, feet, and head were all swollen and he could no longer speak, eat, drink or walk. He was in a coma. Only after his wife and some of his workplace officials went to negotiate with the police many times, was Mr. Chang finally released on bail.
On May 11, only four days after Mr. Chang went back to work, his workplace officials again colluded with the police from the National Security Group to arrest Mr. Chang. They also took him directly to the Baoding City Forced Labor Camp, and sentenced him to one and a half years of forced labor. His wife and his six-year-old son went to the National Security Group many times to look for Mr. Chang, but the police were avoiding responsibility and refused to let them see Mr. Chang. At present it is not clear whether Mr. Chang is still alive.
4. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Falun Gong Practitioner Mr. Zhang Haimin Severely Tortured in the Shenxin Forced Labor Camp
Mr. Zhang Haimin is a practitioner from Xingchen City in Liaoning Province. He started to practice Falun Gong in 1996 and was the local assistant of the Falun Gong practice site. On January 10, 2005, he and three practitioners went out to clarify the truth about Falun Gong. When they were hanging the banner of "Falun Dafa is Good," they were reported to police, and were subsequently taken to the Pingluo Police Station of Yuhong District. They were handcuffed behind the back. The Director of the Police Station, Chen (surname, male), led three police officers to brutally beat the practitioners. An hour later, Director Chen came to beat them again after he drank some wine.
At about 11:00 p.m. on January 12, police took Mr. Zhang Haimin and another practitioner to the Yuhong District Detention Center. Those at the detention center noticed that both practitioners were covered with wounds and so refused to take them. At about 6:00 p.m. on January 13, these two practitioners were sent to the prison hospital. Police still asked their family members to pay for the treatment. On the night of January 14, these two practitioners were transferred to the Masan Prison Hospital. The specialists at the hospital diagnosed them with Type B Hepatitis. Although all the paperwork was ready, the sanitation department still refused to let the practitioners be bailed out for medical treatment. They also did not make any other additional recommendations. These practitioners did not receive any effective treatment, nor were they isolated from others (to prevent cross infection).
Mr. Zhang has been in Shenxin Detention Center for over a year. His face is dark; he walks very slowly and eats very little.
5. [Guangdong Province] Guangzhou City Women’s Prison Forced Drugs on Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Xie Kunxiang and Repeatedly Drew Her Blood Against Her Will
Ms. Xie Kunxiang, 54, is a practitioner from Guangzhou City. In June 2005, because of practicing Falun Gong, she was again illegally held in the Guangzhou City Women’s Prison. Recently, the prison guard forged a hospital certificate to accuse Ms. Xie Kunxiang of having a psychiatric disease. They abusively gave her drugs and also repeatedly drew blood from her against her will. They injected her with drugs as a means of torture. When her family members inquired about her health, the prison guard did not dare to provide a clear answer.
6. [Liaoning Province] Statements to Persecute Falun Gong Practitioners Shown in the College Admission Requirements Given by the Education System in Liaoning Province
On Page 9 and Page 10 of the Liaoning Province High School Graduates Listing, there is the following requirement: "Students whose father, mother, or guardian had any major problems and were thereby sentenced, need to indicate the time, location, and reason for the sentence, and must submit investigation materials on the person’s behavior after release, with stamps from those in charge at the sentenced person’s workplace."
In the Liaoning Province 2005 College or University Admission Policy, there is the following requirement: "An applicant's school or workplace must provide a comprehensive evaluation of the applicant's political attitude, thoughts and quality…The result of such evaluation can be put into two categories: one is qualified, the other is disqualified. Anyone who has one of the following situations belongs to the category of disqualification: 1) Those who were against the Four Fundamental Principals or Against the Reformed Speech and Behavior Rules, or who have participated in the cult organizations…"
7. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Falun Gong Practitioner Mr. Zu Liming Arrested
At about 10:00 p.m. on May 23, 2006, practitioner Mr. Zu Liming from Huanggu District of Shenyang City was arrested at home by police from Shenyang City Police Department. They also confiscated his computer. He is currently being held illegally in the Huanggu District Police Department of Shenyang City.
8. [Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province] Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Bai Lanzhen Arrested by Police from the 610 Office
Ms. Bai Lanzhen is a practitioner who worked in the Shijiazhuang City No. 9 Middle School. At around 10:00 a.m. on May 24, 2006, the officials of the 9th Middle School called Ms. Bai and deceived her into going there under the guise of handing in her identification card. Subsequently, police illegally arrested her and took her to the Hebei Province Brainwashing Center.
9. [Beijing City] Falun Gong Practitioners Mr. Huang Ronghua, Mr. Li Zengqi and Ms. He Xiulan Arrested
At about 11:00 a.m. on May 25, 2006, the National Security Group of the Shunyi District of Beijing City colluded with the Linmu Town Police Station as well as the CCP Committee of Dongyantou Village to illegally ransack the home of practitioner Mr. Li Zengqi. They confiscated a computer, a printer and truth-clarification materials, and also illegally arrested Mr. Li Zengqi and practitioner Ms. He Xiulan. They then went to illegally ransack the home of practitioner Mr. Huang Ronghua. They confiscated a computer, a printer and truth-clarification materials, and also illegally arrested Mr. Huang Ronghua.
10. [Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province] Falun Gong Practitioners Ms. Jiang Xianyi and Her Son Mr. Kuo Hai Arrested
On May 23, 2006, practitioners Ms. Jiang Xianyi and her son Mr. Kuo Hai from Baishizhou, Nanshan District, Shenzhen City were clarifying the truth about Falun Gong outside their home and were reported to police. Both practitioners are now being held in the 1st Detention Center of Tongle Village, Nanshan District. Mr. Kuo Hai is being held in Group 16, while Ms. Jiang Xianyi is being held in Group 8. All of their relatives live in Hunan Province.
11. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Practitioner Mr. Wang Jianmin Will Soon Be Released from Prison
Practitioner Mr. Wang Jianmin from Changchun City was illegally sentenced to four years of imprisonment and has been held in the Shiling Prison of Siping City. He is up for release on May 30. His family members went to visit Mr. Wang at the Shiling Prison of Siping City, but the prison guards said that the 610 Office would come to take him when he is up for release.
12. [Zhaoyuan City, Shandong Province] Three Falun Gong Practitioners, Including Mr. Bo Fucheng, Arrested and a Truth-Clarification Materials Site Damaged
At about 8:00 p.m. on May 21, 2006, practitioner Mr. Bo Fucheng from Bojia Village, Xiadian Town of Zhaoyuan City in Shandong Province, was illegally arrested. At about 10:00 a.m. on May 21, 2006, Hou Renxian (male) and Xu Jiansheng (male) from the National Security Group of Zhaoyuan City, led more than twenty people and drove five police cars to illegally ransack Mr. Bo Fucheng’s home. They confiscated two computers, three copy machines, two paper cutters and about thirty boxes of print papers, thirty glue tapes, two boxes of copies of the Nine Commentaries, ten copies of Zhuan Falun, and part of the Falun Gong lectures, as well as six thousand yuan in savings, with a total loss of about thirty thousand yuan. The truth-clarification materials site was also damaged.
At about 2:00 p.m. on May 22, practitioner Mr. Bo Fuyu from the same village was also arrested. In the evening, practitioner Mr. Cao Ximin, in his sixties, from the village, was also arrested.
13. [Jiuquan City, Gangsu Province] Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Ji Yijun Arrested
Around noon on May 24, practitioner Ms. Ji Yijun was reported to police when she was distributing truth-clarification materials. She was illegally arrested and her home ransacked. She is currently being held in the Jiuquan Detention Center.
14. [Meizhou City, Guangdong Province] Falun Gong Practitioner Mr. Chen Jinchang Arrested
Practitioner Mr. Chen Jinchang from Meizhou City was arrested by police from the Fuda Police Station on the morning of May 26. Police first went to his home, but did not find him there. They then went to his workplace to arrest him.
15. [Xinji City, Hebei Province] Eight Falun Gong Practitioners Arrested
At about 3:00 a.m. on May 25, 2006, police headed by Geng Chao (male) drove police cars to illegally ransack the homes of Falun Gong practitioners in Dongchenjiazhuang Village of Nanzhiqiu Town. They confiscated one television set. Eight Falun Gong practitioners are currently being held at the Xinji City Detention Center.
16. [Heilongjiang Province] Police from the Daqing City Prison Broke a Rib of Falun Gong Practitioner Mr. Li Hai during Beatings
At about 1:30 a.m. on March 1, 2006, Wang Yingjie (male), who is the Deputy Warden of the Daqing City Prison, led the Prison Administration Section Chief Yuan Hongjun (male), Li Tie (male), and prison guards Fan Lijun (male), Chen Xuesong (male), Wang Jiewen (male) and others, to the 3rd Squadron of the 2nd Group, and started to torture Falun Gong practitioners held there. The practitioners were Mr. Xia Yong, Mr. Li Hai and Ms. Li Huifeng. They pulled the practitioners from the bed to the ground and started to punch and kick them. Later they used belts to slash them. They forcibly dressed Ms. Li Huifeng in prison clothes and subjected her to "Locking up in a small cell" (1) and locked her onto the iron chair and beat her with batons and fists. Later, they put Ms. Li Huifeng through the "Big Hang Up" (2) for more then seven hours. After she was released from the hanging, she was again put through "Locking up in a small cell." Prisoners were forced to watch her all day and all night. One of Mr. Li Hai’s ribs was broken due to the beatings and he could not lie on his side for one month.
17. [Guilin City, Guangxi Province] Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Cao Xiaorong and Her Entire Family are Closely Monitored
Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Cao Xiaorong and her entire family have been monitored for two years. The telephone lines are monitored and blocked. Police also drilled holes on the roof of Ms. Cao Xiaorong’s home and pumped in concentrated smoke that could disrupt one’s nervous system. Her eight-month old grandson could not escape from the poisonous smoke and died. Recently, they arranged spies in her neighborhood. At the same time, there are many spies hiding in the markets, stores, rice powder shops and salons, trying to illegally arrest her and her family members (who practice Falun Gong).

18. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Liu Yaqin Illegally Held
On May 10, 2006, practitioner Ms. Liu Yaqin from Harbin City was illegally arrested when she was clarifying the truth about Falun Gong in Beijing City. She was taken back to Harbin City by the Quxian Police Station of Nangang District of Harbin City and subsequently held in the Harbin City Gu Township Women’s Detention Center, also known as Duck Circle.
19. [Kaifeng City, Henan Province] Falun Gong Practitioner Mr. Song Zengce Arrested While Clarifying the Truth
On May 15, 2006, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Song Zengce was arrested when he was clarifying the truth about Falun Gong. He is currently being held in the Beijiao Detention Center.

On May 22, 2006, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wang Xinying was arrested and taken to a brainwashing center.

At about 7:00 or 8:00 a.m., on May 23, 2006, practitioner Ms. Wang Zhijun was arrested by more then ten police officers at her home. At that time, she was still in her pajamas. When they were arresting her, she called out "Falun Dafa is good." Ms. Wang Zhijun is currently being held and tortured in the new brainwashing center located in the Dajinding Region of Tangjia District of Zhuhai City.

1). Locking up in a Small Cell
The detainee is locked up in a very small cell individually. The guards handcuff practitioners on their back in a fixed position, in which the practitioners can neither move nor lie down. The small cell is very damp and no sunshine comes in. Detainees have to urinate and defecate in the cell. Only half of a regular meal is served to detainees locked up in a small cell during the daytime. During the night the rats are running around. The stench in the small cell is so bad that it is difficult to breathe.
2)."Big Hang Up"
There are two forms in this torture: (1) With both hands cuffed behind the back and only toes touching the ground, one is hung by a rope that is tied to the metal window frames; (2) One hand of a practitioner is cuffed to one bunk bed and the other hand to another bed, and the two beds are pulled in the opposite directions. On May 26, 2006, practitioner Mr. Wang Detong, over 50 years old, from the Sifang District, in Qingdao City, was illegally arrested with another practitioner by police from Licang District Police Department of Qingdao City. He is currently being held in Dashan Detention Center, Qingdao City.
It was reported that around May 20, 2006, practitioners Ms. Liu and Ms. Liu (the surnames of these two practitioners are different in Chinese characters but have the same pronunciation) from Jiaozhou Road, Qingdao City, were arrested by the police.

3. [Hegang City, Heilongjiang Province] Additional Information on Five Practitioners Who Are Facing Illegal Trials
Five practitioners will be tried at Xiangyang Court in Hegang City at 9 o’clock in the morning on June 9, 2006
These practitioners are Mr. Shang Xiping from Huanan, Ms. Liu Liping from Daqing, Ms. Yang Yongying, Mr. Hu Guijie, and Mr. Zhao Guiyou. They were arrested on September 7, 2005 ,when they were having an experience sharing conference. They have been detained in Hegang City Detention Center for more than nine months.
4. [Shanghai City] Practitioner Ms. Jiang Suying Has Been Arrested
Practitioner Ms. Jiang Suying, over 60 years old, from Hongkou District, Shanghai City, was arrested by Jiaxing County Police Department, the 610 Office of the Hongkou District, and the National Security Group on her way to a meeting. On the second day of her detention, she had symptoms of high blood pressure and a urinary tract infection. The detention center refused to accept her so the evildoers kept her in the Tilanqiao Prison Hospital.
In the evening, Li Chunhua and seven to eight others from the National Security Group switched the power off and deceived Ms. Jiang’s husband, Mr. Lu, into opening the door. Then they grabbed Mr. Lu by the throat and began to ransack the house. Afterwards they took Mr. Lu away. The following day, they tortured Mr. Lu in order to extort a confession. Even today Mr. Lu still suffers from the injuries.
Ms. Jiang’s son, Mr. Lu Weidong, was sentenced in a closed door trial to three and a half years imprisonment. He is now in Tilanqiao Prison in Shanghai.

5. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Dailijun Is Now detained in the Changchun No. 3 Detention Center
Practitioner Ms. Dai Lijun from Changchun was arrested from her home on May 17, 2006, by officers from Changtong Road Police Station, and is now detained in the Changchun City's 3rd Detention Center. The police took away her portraits of Teacher Li Hongzhi, some Falun Gong materials, and books.
6. [Handan City, Hebei Province] Practitioner Ms. Xia Aixiang, Her Husband, and Her Daughter Have Been Arrested
In mid May 2006, Congtai District Police Department, Congxi Police Station and the neighborhood committee broke into Ms. Xia’s house and arrested all three members of the family and ransacked the house.
Now Ms Xia Aixiang is being held and persecuted in the city's 1st Detention Center. Her husband, Mr. Wei, and daughter, Ms. Wei Wenjuan, were taken to a brainwashing center.
7. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Practitioner Ms. Zhou Yuxiu Is Suffering from Persecution After Being Sent to Pixian County Detention Center
Practitioner Ms. Zhou Yuxiu, 65 years old, was arrested on May 24, 2006, after being followed. Her house was ransacked. In the evening of the same day she was sent to Pixian County Detention Center to undergo brainwashing.
8. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Practitioner Mr. Zhang Zhengzhou Has Been Arrested by the Police from Xin’andu Police Station
On April 9, 2006, practitioner Mr. Zhang Zhengzhou from Xin’andu, Dongxihu District, Wuhan City, was arrested while handing out truth-clarification materials. The police from the Xin’andu Police Station were responsiblle. In order to find out where Mr. Zhang got the truth-clarification materials they released him the same day he was arrested.
On April 10, Mr. Zhang was arrested again while working in the fields. He was detained in Wujiashan's 2nd Detention Center in Dongxihu District, Wuhan City, and then transferred to Etouwan Brainwashing Center.
9. [Shantao City, Hubei Province] Practitioner Ms. Wei Ping Is Taken to Wuhan Brainwashing Center by Shantao City 610 Office
At 5 a.m. On May 26, 2006, five officials from the Shantao 610 Office broke into practitioner Ms. Wei Ping’s house in Baimiao, Guohe Township, and arrested her. Ms. Wei has been sent to Wuhan Brainwashing Center for further persecution.

Ms. Tian Ling is now being held at the Jiangan District 610 Office Brainwashing Center in Wuhan City. Her mother insists on giving the brainwashing center 600 yuan every month to keep her daughter there. Ms. Tian’s health is getting worse.
12. [Macheng City, Hubei Province] Practitioner Ms. Yu Huihua Has Been Arrested by the Railway Police
About 3 or 4p.m. on May 19, 2006, police officers from the Macheng Railway Station National Security Section climbed over the wall and forced their way into practitioner Ms. Yu Huihua’s home on Xingfu Road in Macheng City. They looted Ms. Yu’s house and took away money, a TV set ,and a DVD player. They also smashed the wardrobe. Then they arrested Ms. Yu Huihua and took her to the Railway Police Department for questioning. This is the third arrest by the Macheng Railway Police Department after the arrests of Ms. Xiang Jinping and Ms. Zhang Zihua.

The 610 Office of Daxing County's Political and Judiciary Committee and the National Security Group is persecuting practitioner Ms. Xu Yinhua by threatening to arrest and detain her if she refuses to tell them where she got her truth-clarification materials.
Ms. Xu Yinhua’s husband, Nong Xueyao, who is working at the county police department, beat Ms. Xu brutally and drove her out of the house. He ransacked his own house in an attempt to find the truth-clarification materials.

15 [Yunfu City, Guangdong Province] Practitioner Mr. Lai Zhenxian’s Detention Has Been Extended
Practitioner Mr. Lai Zhenxian from Yunfu City, Guangdong Province, was arrested on February 27, 2006, and sent to Yunfu Detention Center, where he was sentenced to three years of forced labor. He was escorted to Sanshui Forced Labor Camp and has since suffered from all sorts of torture. His term of detention is now three months overdue.
In September 2005, Mr. Lai’s wife, Ms. Li Shaozhen, was arrested and sentenced to two years of forced labor and is now being held at the Sanshui Women’s Detention Center.
16 [Nanning City, Guangxi Province] Practitioner Mr. Huang Xiangli Has Been Arrested and Sent to a Brainwashing Center
At about 10 a.m. on May 29, 2006, retired employee of the Nanning Chemical Group in Guangxi Mr. Huang Xiangli was tricked by the Party Secretary of the Retirement Office into entering the secretary's office office "to have a talk." The 610 Office, the National Security Group. and the Political and Judiciary Committee then arrested him. They took him to a "guest house," where he was forced to undergo brainwashing.

Because he practiced Falun Gong, Mr. Fang Guohua was arrested
