  • Petition Letter from the Mother of Yang Xiaojie, Who Died as a Result of Torture

My name is Cui Fugui. I am the mother of Yang Xiaojie and the mother-in-law of Liu Runling. At 11:15 a.m. on January 26, 2006, my beloved son Yang Xiaojie passed away. His face, seen by his family, was kind. He didn't want to leave his parents, both in their 70s, his dear wife, and especially his 16-year-old daughter, the apple of his eye.

    Yang Xiaojie

I was with my son when he died. I screamed until my throat was dry and all the strength had left my body. I held my son's hand and shouted continuously, "Xiaojie, come back! You can't leave. You are a tough boy. Mom can't live without you, and you can't leave mom. You are a good boy. You are a good person. You deserve a good life! Xiaojie, mom knows there are many things you wanted to say but didn't, and so do I. Xiaojie, come back, listen to me, I know that you are very weak, and I want you to rest and recover before you speak. Xiaojie, come back! Mom knows your heart: you tried not to describe the tortures you suffered at the prison because you didn't want me to worry about you."

Yang Xiaojie and his daughter Yang Wenjing

I lost my mind and screamed and screamed for my son to come back. Around 5:00 p.m., blood gushed from my nose, but I didn't care. I truly hoped that my pleas could move the heavens. I thought, "I have such a wonderful son. You can't leave me. You are only 40 years old, yet the abusers at the 4th Prison killed you. Mom will seek justice for you.

My son Yang Xiaojie was a simple, strong and goal-oriented person. Those who knew him say that he was intelligent and loved to help others. I used to have a happy family. My son and his wife loved each other and took care of their parents. I have a lovely granddaughter. Now nothing will ever be the same.

Yang Xiaojie worked at the North China Division of China Youth Daily. He started practicing Falun Gong in 1996 and underwent tremendous physical and mental changes. He received important awards from his work unit. After the persecution started on July 20, 1999, he persisted in believing in Truth-Compassion-Forbearance and being a good person. The police took him to the Xiumen Police Station in Shijiazhuang City, where he was held for 51 days. From then on, the police often harassed his work unit. On October 10, 1999, because they were under pressure, his superiors fired him.

On the evening of April 12, 2000, officer Fang Liang from the Penghou Street Police Station in Shijiazhuang City made up a reason to have him go to the Penghou Street Administration Office. People there illegally detained him for half a day before he was allowed to go home. His residence was under long-term close monitoring.

On September 29, 2000, Yang Xiaojie and his wife Liu Runling left home to avoid further persecution. The police issued a warrant for their arrest. On the evening of September 28, 2001, Yang Xiaojie and Liu Runling were both arrested in the Kaida Neighborhood Compound in Shijiazhuang City and were savagely beaten. Liu Runling was later transferred to the Penghou Street Police Station and later to the 1st Detention Center. Yang Xiaojie was locked in a metal chair for seven days and seven nights at the Penghou Street Police Station. He was transferred to the 1st Detention Center and later to the Yuanxian County Detention Center. He was also held at Dongfeng Road Custody Center and the 2nd Detention Center in Shijiazhuang City.

On February 10, 2002, the Qiaoxi District People's Procuratorate approved the arrest of Yang Xiaojie and his wife. The couple was tried in the Qiaoxi District Court on September 9, 2002. They were both sentenced to 11 years in prison for speaking the truth and practicing Falun Gong.

After July 15, 2003, Yang Xiaojie was held at Beijiao Prison, the former No. 4 Prison of Hebei Province. His wife Liu Runling is being held at Hebei Province Women's Prison.

Yang Xiaojie was very healthy on entering the prison. The prison authorities placed him under "strict control" all year long because he refused to renounce his belief. They often locked him in solitary confinement, physically and verbally assaulted him, tortured him and didn't allow him to sleep. They constantly pressured him to "reform," which put him in a continuous intense and depressed state. The guards also encouraged the inmates to beat and torture him. All of these contributed to the illnesses that my son later developed. Because he persisted in his belief, the prison authorities refused family visits. When he suffered severe spinal pain for over a year and was paralyzed for more than three months, they concealed his condition. He was emaciated and extremely weak. The perpetrators purposely let him die.

My son told me about the gross abuse and mistreatment he experienced at the Beijiao Prison:

    1. When he first arrived at the prison he told the division heads about the fabricated charges against him. The division heads pretended to support his appeal but in fact they withheld his appeal statement(s). Once they even tore up his appeal in front of him. This dealt him a heavy blow.
    2. In an effort to make Yang Xiaojie sign a "reform statement" that was filled with lies, the guards at Beijiao Prison once deprived him of sleep for 30 days. They often subjected him to physical abuse and detained him in solitary confinement three times. He went on a hunger strike twice for about a month, because his voice could not be heard and he was not receiving just treatment.
    3. Between September 2003 and December 2003, Wang Guobin, head of the Education Division, encouraged inmate Fan Jiangshan to beat and kick Yang Xiaojie, which caused his stomach to be in pain. Two of his molars were knocked out. Later, the guards handcuffed and shackled him. Inmate Fan Jiangshan received a reduction of his sentence and was released early for participating in the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners.
    4. On the evening of June 2, 2004, Yang Xiaojie refused to watch a Falun Gong-slandering video and was sent to solitary confinement. He held a hunger strike to protest the mistreatment. On the morning of June 6, Wang Guobin, head of the Education Division, tortured him through force-feeding. After a tube was inserted into his throat, he said the tube was too thin and must be replaced with a thicker one. After a thicker tube was inserted, the doctor suddenly poured highly concentrated salt water down the tube. It instantly filled Yang Xiaojie's mouth, nose and lungs. Because the rapid feeding made an exploding sensation caused by the salt water, he suddenly sat up in bed and pulled out the feeding tube. Three people failed to hold him down. For the following three days Yang Xiaojie coughed, vomited blood and ran a high fever.
    5. On July 24, 2004, my son refused to acknowledge the false charges against him and refused to do slave labor. He was again held in solitary confinement. He went on a hunger strike. Four days later he met with a factory head Chen (possibly Chen Xinguo), leader from Division 11, who said that the prison administration had made mistakes.
    6. The last visit day in 2004 was November 23. In the year that followed, the prison authorities denied family visits because Yang Xiaojie refused to reform. I went to the prison every visiting day although I was 70 years old. Once I even knelt before a guard and begged him to let me meet with my son. I was so worried about him. I asked about his condition each time I went there. The guards always told me that he was doing well and ate a lot. He actually suffered from spinal pain for over a year and was paralyzed for more than three months, but the prison authorities concealed his illness. They purposely missed the best time for medical treatment and we, Yang Xiaojie's family, cannot accept it.
    7. On December 16, 2005, I went to the prison to deliver a quilt to my son. I learned that my son was bedridden and paralyzed. In fact, he was on the brink of death. The prison authorities still made up excuses and refused to let me see him. They didn't approve medical parole. My husband and I were very anxious. We went back and forth between the Hebei Province Administration Bureau officials and those from the Beijiao Prison. We begged and pleaded with the officials at both places. Our words fell on deaf ears. The prison authorities didn't allow us to take him home until 8:40 p.m. on December 28, 2005. The first thing the doctor said was, "It's too late for him!"
    8. In fact, the prison authorities had taken our son to an oncology hospital for a medical exam. They knew my son had a terminal illness and they wrote "mediastinal tumor, tuberculosis of the bone," yet they kept it from us and kept our son from receiving medical treatment on medical parole. They committed first-degree murder.

For a long time, my son lived under great pressure and could not eat. He was exhausted and passed away before he could see justice prevail. As his family, we think that the necrosis of his spinal disc was the result of chronic abuse and beating, because he had never been diagnosed with any similar condition. He had severe fluid accumulation in his lungs and tuberculosis. The most suspicious thing is that if our son's condition has nothing to do with the prison, so why did the prison authorities not allow the family to visit him for over a year? What were they trying to hide? Our son said he had suffered from spinal pain for over a year and really could not take it anymore. He had been paralyzed for over three months. His weight dropped from 154 pounds to less than 77 pounds. He was skin and bones and had hardly any flesh on his buttocks. The skin on his thighs clung to the bone. His voice was weak and he had phlegm in his throat and fluid in his lungs. He had labored breathing and slept most of the time. His spine hurt terribly, even when others helped him turn in bed, or when he occasionally sat up.

At about 2:00 p.m. on November 23, 2004, I saw Yang Xiaojie, and at about 10:00 a.m. on December 28, 2005 I saw him again. I clearly remember that on November 23, 2004, we walked into the reception room. He was very happy to see his family. He ran to welcome us. When we saw him again on December 28, 2005, however, he was semi-conscious and lying in bed. I hurried toward him and said, "Xiaojie, mom is here to see you." He struggled to open his eyes and looked confused. After a while, he tried very hard and said, "mom."

I could hardly recognize him, a once energetic and healthy man. He could not recognize his sister and sister-in-law. We couldn't hold back our tears. He was so emaciated that he looked deformed. I said out loud at the Beijiao Prison infirmary, "Child, be brave, we will certainly bring you home!" The prison authorities finally allowed us this meeting with my son when he was at death's door and could die at any time, after our whole family urgently requested a visit and spoke with the prison authorities and officials at Hebei Province Prison Administration Bureau many times.

The Beijiao Prison authorities, supposedly being administrators of the law, had violated the law by denying family visits for over a year. They tortured and tormented my son to death.

Please, hold the persons involved at the 4th Prison legally responsible. These individuals include Chen Ning, head of Division 11, Chen Xinguo, the main official at Division 11, Wang Guobin, head of the Education Division and others. We must also see justice done to officials at the Beijiao Prison involved with the persecution, and officials at the Hebei Province Prison Administration Bureau involved with the persecution.

After my son came home, he always talked about appealing. The prison authorities completely ignored my son after he was taken home in critical condition. Wang Guobin, head of the Education Division, was notified of my son's death the day he passed away. Up until now, no one from the prison has ever made a phone call to send condolences. Are they not responsible for torturing a man to death? I will definitely seek justice for my beloved son, and they will have to take the following legal responsibilities into consideration, according to the law:

    (1) According to Article 248 of the Criminal Law of the Peoples Republic of China, "Supervisory and management personnel of prisons, detention centers and other guard houses who beat or physically abuse their inmates, if the case is serious, are to be sentenced to three years or fewer in prison or put under criminal detention. If the case is especially serious, they are to be sentenced to three to 10 years in prison. Those causing injuries, physical disability or death, are to be convicted and severely punished according to article 234 and 232 of this law. Supervisory and management personnel who order inmates to beat or physically abuse other inmates are to be punished according to stipulations in the above paragraph.

    (2) Article 232 of the Criminal Law stipulates, "Whoever intentionally kills another is to be sentenced to death, life imprisonment or not less than 10 years of fixed-term imprisonment."

    (3) Article 234 of the Criminal Law stipulates, "If he causes a person's death or causes a person's serious deformity by badly injuring him with particularly ruthless methods he is to be sentenced to not less than 10 years of fixed-term imprisonment, life imprisonment, or death."

    (4) According to the Law of the People's Republic of China on State Compensation, "If death results, compensation for death and funeral expenses shall be paid; the total amount shall be twenty times the State average yearly pay of staff and workers in the previous year."

As stated earlier, Beijiao Prison officials purposely concealed my son's condition and wasted the precious time when he could have received medical treatment. The result was that we failed to revive my son. Their actions constitute first-degree murder and, correspondingly, they must be held legally responsible in accordance with the Chinese constitution.

My son Yang Xiaojie was providing for his parents and daughter. According to the Compensation Law, the Communist regime agitators should pay us about 300,000 Yuan in compensation.

We are devastated and deeply grieved by our beloved son's untimely death. We only have one wish: restore my son's good name and give him justice! I believe the ruling regime's officials will heed the tragedy that my family has endured, uphold justice and the law, and bring to justice the individuals responsible for my son's death. We call for the involved officials to solve this case as soon as possible! I sincerely request that the officials at the Hebei Province Prison Administration Bureau consider the difficulties facing our family and release my daughter-in-law Liu Runling from Hebei Province Women's Prison. We need her home, so she can support this broken family, and so our granddaughter will not get into trouble because she lacks the discipline of her parent. Our whole family cannot go on like this! I call on people at my son's former unit and on his friends to help us fulfill his last wish! We express our most sincere gratitude in advance!

Two Falun Gong Practitioners Imprisoned at Masanjia Forced Labor Camp in Liaoning Province Have Disappeared

Over the past few years, many Falun Gong practitioners have died in a hospital because of the persecution at Masanjia Forced Labor Camp of Liaoning Province. Many others died shortly after they were released to go home. Some have become paralyzed. Others were severely injured and/or disabled. Two Falun Gong practitioners, Ms. Li Jingyi and Ms. Liu Guifang, were tortured until they were close to death. It was written on the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp blackboard that they were taken to the hospital, but no one heard from them or saw them again. Their whereabouts are unknown.

On March 22, 2004, Ms. Li Jingyi, a Falun Gong practitioner from Dalian, Liaoning Province, was taken to the Dalian Drug Rehabilitation Center where the police ordered drug addicts and drug dealers to torture, sexually molest and repeatedly beat her. As a result, her spinal cord was severely injured and she became crippled. On October 28, 2004, she was taken to Masanjia Forced Labor Camp where she continued to suffer from cruel torture. For a very long time, she was unable to eat or drink water. Although Masanjia Hospital and the Chinese Medical College diagnosed her with many severe illnesses and medical problems, Masanjia Forced Labor Camp still refused to release her, even if someone was willing to post bail. The only medical treatment they provided was a saline drip. Two so-called medical staff members from the 2nd Group of the camp followed the camp's orders and handcuffed Ms. Li to a metal bed despite her protests. They injected her with unknown drugs, which caused her to have breathing difficulties, tachycardia (a rapidly beating heart) and urethritis (inflammation of the urethra).

In mid-July 2005, four prisoners carried Ms. Li, who already looked like skin and bones and was barely breathing, on a burlap sack used to store garlic to the door and put her on the ground. Ms. Li's luggage, clothes, toothbrush and other personal belongings remained at Masanjia Forced Labor Camp. On the following day, it was written on the blackboard at the camp that she had been sent to the hospital, but no one has seen or heard from her since then. Because the police have sealed all information about Ms. Li, no one knows of her current whereabouts or if she is still alive.

After Ms. Li Jingyi disappeared, Ms. Liu Guifang, a Falun Gong practitioner from Dandong, was the next to be persecuted by staff and inmates from the 2nd Group. Ms. Liu suffered from severe heart problems. She could only eat a little bit of food every day. The police dragged her out for force-feeding. Because Ms. Liu refused to cooperate and tried hard to resist the force-feeding, Ms. Zhang Xiurong, the leader of  the 2nd Group, locked her in a small cell. In this cell there were several new metal beds especially designed and custom-made to torture Falun Gong practitioners. Ms. Liu was tied to a metal bed and subjected to force-feeding and injections of unknown drugs. In late-July 2005, it was written on a blackboard in the 2nd Group that she had been sent to the hospital, but her luggage, toothbrush and clothes were also stored in the 2nd Group's warehouse. Her current whereabouts are unknown.

At Masanjia Forced Labor Camp, it has unfortunately become a common occurrence that policemen and policewomen drag Falun Gong practitioners by their limbs over the ground of the exercise field to the small cells and to the common building. In the background, one can hear, amidst such tragic scenes, the victims' loud and clear voices calling, "Falun Gong (or Falun Gong) is good!" Their voices are heartbreaking, but the policemen act as though they are playing a game as they curse, mock, ridicule and sneer at their victims.

Beginning on April 1, 2005, Masanjia Forced Labor Camp moved all Falun Gong practitioners to different Groups. The highly determined practitioners were taken to the 1st Group on the first floor, and determined practitioners were taken to the second Group on the second floor. All practitioners detained at the 1st Group are not allowed to leave their cells and are fed rotten food. Nearly every day practitioners detained at the 1st Group are dragged to the small cells for torture. Ms. Xiang Guili, the leader of the 2nd Group, ordered a policeman named Liu Chunli (responsible for teaching law) to beat practitioners with a metal club wrapped in newspaper until their faces were swollen and they were unable to stand up. Then he would threaten the victims not to reveal what he had done to them, or else they would be severely punished. Because Ms. Liu Guifang refused to cooperate with them, she was dragged out and repeatedly slapped on the face. She was handcuffed to the heat pipes. She had a heart attack and was unable to go downstairs. The prison police also play video programs slandering Falun Gong at an unbearably loud volume to conceal their crimes. Two policewomen, including Zhang Xiurong and Ma Xiaodan, as well as a police leader named Zhou and the local 610 Office have teamed up and transferred those practitioners that have finished their prison terms directly to the forced brainwashing centers for further persecution.

Our latest news is that the following Falun Gong practitioners who are illegally detained in Masanjia Forced Labor Camp are currently on a hunger strike to protest the persecution: Ms. Zhou Hua (from Jinzhou), Ms. Zhang Chungang, Ms. Lin Xiuqin (Benxi), Ms. Zhang Jingyan (Liaoning Province), Ms. Wang Manli (Benxi), Ms. Xie Xingying, Ms. Xie Dewen and Ms. Liu Yuzhi.

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has committed unforgivable crimes and sins against the Chinese people. Heaven and Earth are both condemning the CCP. Its crimes have now enraged both god(s) and man.

We hope that those who know about the persecution will write down the facts to reveal the CCP's cruel and evil persecution in order to help all the illegally detained Falun Gong practitioners obtain their freedom, and to help all the Chinese people deceived by the CCP to wake up and see through the CCP's evil nature.

Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Zhu E and Her Family Relentlessly Persecuted for Their Belief (Photos)

Between 1992 and July 20, 1999, nine members of Ms. Zhu E's family started practicing Falun Gong and benefited tremendously from it. Their characters improved and they became very healthy. They had a great family relationship and were truly happy. Since Jiang launched the inhumane persecution, those who persisted in their belief were--and still are--severely persecuted.

From left to right: Zhu E; Zhu E's mother, Jiang Lifan; Zhu E's younger sister, Zhu Yan

    Ms. Zhu E

Ms. Zhu E is 50 years old. She was cured of numerous illnesses through Falun Gong practice. After July 20, 1999, she persisted in her belief in Truth-Compassion-Forbearance and went to Beijing in September 1999 to appeal for Falun Gong. She was illegally fired and her family was broken up. Ms. Zhu has been held in detention centers and forced labor camp(s) and prisons on several occasions, including the Miyun Prison in Beijing, the Jinzhou City Custody Center, the Jilin City Custody Center, the Jilin City Detention Center, the Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp in Changchun City, and in the Jilin Province Police Hospital.

Her Beijing appeal led to her arrest and incarceration in the Miyun Prison in Beijing. In November 1999, she was handcuffed and put in rusty shackles weighing about 19 pounds after she did the Falun Gong exercises in prison. Her shoes were removed and she was forced to drag herself along on the cold stone-paved floor for a whole morning. After she was drained of energy, two male guards dragged her as they ran. Rocks scraped her legs and feet, and the handcuffs and shackles cut deep into her flesh, causing excruciating pain and profuse bleeding. She was handcuffed and shackled for six days and nights. Ms. Zhu was handcuffed behind her back so she could not eat, sleep, or go to the restroom. The flesh on her feet ulcerated and her bones were exposed. She could not walk normally for more than six months, and deep scars on her ankles are clearly visible to this day.

Communist regime agents at the 1st Detention Center in Jilin City frequently subjected her to other corporal punishments. Sometimes she was forced to squat for ten hours. Ms. Zhu went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution, and the perpetrators force-fed her corn porridge with lots of salt. The feeding tube severely bruised her mouth and throat. Sometimes her stomach hurt so bad she could not straighten her back. While on her hunger strike, the detention center authorities ordered inmates to attack her verbally and physically and refused to let her move or sleep. Ms. Zhu became unconscious once on the floor after many days on the hunger strike, followed by standing for one day and one night. Her anguish was beyond words.

The abusers at the Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp in Changchun City tortured Ms. Zhu savagely. They forced her to squat, stand and "fly an airplane" (1). Other gross abuses included forcing her to sit in a double-crossed leg position with her hands behind her and forbidding her from moving or using the restroom for three days. They made her sit in this uncomfortable and painful position for more than eight hours each day, until she was in agony. The abusers frequently hit her with bamboo planks, rubber hoses, and wooden sticks.

Ms. Zhu was also handcuffed to the door of the solitary confinement cell for ten hours until her arm and hand were so swollen she could not make a fist. Electric shock is commonplace, which often resulted in large blisters and scorched flesh all over her body. In July 2000, guard Zhang Guimei disfigured her face with electric baton(s). Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhu felt her face was on fire, and she could not sit or stand at ease. She could not sleep at night due to pain, so she sat up and held her face.

Ms. Zhu went on a hunger strike many times to protest the persecution and demanded her unconditional release. The frequent force-feedings made her nose and mouth bleed, often putting her in a state of near-suffocation. This made her cough and vomit blood long after the force-feeding.

At the Jilin Province Police Hospital Ms. Zhu was handcuffed to the bed and her feet were immobilized. She had a feeding tube and a urethral catheter in her, but she was left uncared for. Her back hurt as if it was going to break. She coughed but could not spit out the phlegm, and she often sweated profusely from coughing so hard. She was unable to move and had difficulty breathing. The catheter leaked but no one cared. She was soaked in sweat and urine. Northern China in December is very cold. The hospital staff opened the windows to let in fresh air, although Ms. Zhu was the only patient in the room, clad only in underwear. She shivered in the bone-freezing wind. They frequently gave her IV infusions against her will. It was commonplace for the nurses to leave her alone after inserting the needle. Occasionally the needle punctured her vein and the drug dripped into her muscle, causing great pain. Sometimes no one pulled the needle out after the IV fluid had run out and the bottle hung empty on the rack.

    Ms. Zhu Yan

Ms. Zhu's younger sister, Ms. Zhu Yan, is 42 years old. She is modest, fair-minded and forgiving. She conducted herself strictly according to Truth-Compassion-Forbearance after she started practicing Falun Gong in October 1998. After July 20, 1999, when she heard slanders against Falun Gong, she couldn't sit at home and went to Beijing to appeal for the justice for  Falun Gong with her sisters. She was arrested and sent to Miyun Prison in Beijing. The guards savagely beat her, handcuffed and shackled her, and forced her to squat and stand for long periods of time. They made her squat with her hands on the floor in front of her, while several male guards sadistically kicked her buttocks. When she sat on the floor, the guards stood on her legs and violently stomped them, which was excruciatingly painful and humiliating. After she returned to Jilin City she was held in the Kouqian Custody Center in Yongji County, Jilin Province, where she was subjected to brainwashing. Because she persisted in her belief, she was held for more than a month and fined 500 yuan. She was also unlawfully fired.

In 2003, officers from the Gangyao Police Department in the Longtan District of Jilin City arrested Ms. Zhu Yan and sent her to the No. 3 Detention Center in Jilin City. She was sentenced to two years of forced labor, but the labor camp refused to accept her because she didn't pass the physical exam. Her family was under tremendous pressure, and her husband filed for divorce.

In November 2005, officers from the Gangyao Police Department in the Longtan District of Jilin City arrested Ms. Zhu Yan in the street. Her two children and the rest of her family didn't know her whereabouts and looked for her everywhere. After a long time they learned that she had been arrested. Ms. Zhu Yan was persecuted at the Jilin City Detention Center for more than a month, after which she was sent to the Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp in Changchun. Her teenage children could not take it anymore. They have separated themselves from the family and left home to make their own living. Ms. Zhu Yan is now being held in a forced labor camp. Because she persisted in her belief in Truth-Compassion-Forbearance, the authorities savagely tortured her, making her life an agony on a daily basis. But they failed to destroy her firm belief in Falun Gong. Ms. Zhu Yan's home is now empty.

    Guo Yingjie

Ms. Zhu E's kind and honest sister-in-law, Ms. Guo Yingjie, is 47 years old. She started practicing Falun Gong in 1999, and soon afterwards the extreme persecution began. She saw and heard the slanders against Falun Gong on TV and went without hesitation to Beijing to appeal. She was arrested in Beijing and held at the Shunyi Detention Center. Ms. Guo held a hunger strike to protest the detention and was abused. After returning to Jilin City she was held at the Kouqian Custody Center in Yongji County, Jilin Province. Although she hadn't been practicing Falun Gong for long, she was very determined in her belief in Falun Gong. She went to Beijing to appeal again in 2000 and was sent back and held at the Kouqian Custody Center once more. She was released after three months of detention.

Ms. Guo had worked at a bank. She was laid off for nearly two years after she appealed in Beijing in September 1999, cutting off her source of income. Her husband and school-age children were living under tremendous pressure. She clarified the truth at her place of work and petitioned to return to her post. Her request was granted. She was later reported when clarifying the truth to a client. Jiang's villainous group gives large monetary rewards to those who report Falun Gong practitioners. Her employers again laid her off. The police have extorted about 10,000 yuan from her during the past few years, and her family is living in a very difficult situation.

In late 2004, a dozen Nation Security Bureau officials and police officers from Jilin City broke into her home and arrested her. They took her computer, printer, and Falun Gong materials. They sent her to the 1st Detention Center in Jilin City. She held a hunger strike and demanded her unconditional release. The officials retaliated with acts of persecution and denied her visitation rights. Several months later they sentenced her to six years in prison. She was later sent to the Heizuizi Women's Prison in Changchun City. During the Chinese New Year her daughter said, "Mom was being watched in her cell. She was forced to stand until she became dizzy and could not think straight. The guards say that she is the most stubborn and therefore they never permit us to see her." Her current situation is unknown. Her husband is the only person left at home at the moment. He suffers from many illnesses and has to give himself injections daily.

    Ms. Jiang Lifan

Ms. Zhu mother, Ms. Jiang Lifan, was 75 years old when she passed away. The elderly woman had had many illnesses and could not even cook when her daughters were very young. Ms. Jiang was sickly as a child and in her teen years converted to Buddhism. Her family burned bundles of incense before a Buddha statue at home, but she still suffered from painful illnesses. In late 2001, when Ms. Zhu recovered from being persecuted at the labor camp, Ms. Jiang saw that her daughter was glowing with health and said, "I see the wonders of Falun Gong!" She started practicing Falun Gong with Ms. Zhu. She was finally able to throw away the medicine jars that she had relied on most of her life and recovered full health. She didn't need any medication or injections for more than two years and was very energetic. She told everyone, "I have finally found the right path! Falun Gong gave me a second life!"

Persecutors, including the head of the Gangyao Police Department who was later transferred, often harassed Ms. Jiang at home and arrested Ms. Zhu E and her sister Ms. Zhu Yan. They ransacked the home and took Falun Gong books. They forced the old woman to put her fingerprint on certain documents. She was so frightened and grew weaker by the day. Ms. Zhu E left her mother to avoid causing her further stress from police harassment, and Ms. Zhu Yan took care of her. After Zhu Yan was sent to a labor camp, Ms. Jiang Lifan fell ill. She constantly called out Zhu Yan's name in the two months that she was bedridden before she passed away on December 26, 2005. Ms. Zhu E bid a tearful goodbye to her mother.

For their belief in Truth-Compassion-Forbearance, this happy family was destroyed and torn apart by Jiang's villainous group. Countless other families in China have suffered a similar fate.

    Note:

    (1) For the "fly an airplane" torture, the practitioners' upper bodies and feet are forced close to the wall with brutal force. When the toes almost touch the bottom of the wall, one naturally wants to bend his knees to avoid injury to the tendons and the waist. But the torturers pull practitioners' knees away from the wall using towels in order to force their knees to straighten up. Whenever practitioners' arms give out, the torturers pull their arms back into the raised position, forcing them back into the agonizing posture. Anyone subjected to this torture is soon soaked in sweat due to the excruciating pain.

68-Year-Old Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Sun Suying from Huainan City Secretly Sentenced to Five Years in Prison

To avoid continued persecution, three years ago 68-year-old Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Sun Suying from Huainan City was compelled to escape from home and wander around. Then she was again illegally arrested and secretly sentenced to five years in prison. She is now incarcerated in the Suzhou Women's Prison in Anhui Province.

Ms. Sun Suying, 68 years old, is a retired official from the Huainan Coal Mine Machinery Factory in Anhui Province. She started to practice Falun Gong during the first six months of 1996. At the time, she was an accountant for the factory.

One day after the persecution started on July 20, 1999, using the ruse of "having a chat," Miao Xinhua, head of the 610 Office from the Xiejiaji District Political and Judiciary Committee and several people from the factory's security office lured Ms. Sun to the factory's hostel. They kept her there against her will for several days, threatened her and attempted to force her to give up Falun Gong practice. Ms. Sun firmly refused their demands. They then brought in her children and got them to sign a "guarantee statement" that she would give up Falun Gong practice. As a result, they released her. After she returned home and discovered this, Ms. Sun immediately declared to the officials that the guarantee her children had signed for her was null and void.

In November 2001, Miao Xinhua and others ordered the Machinery Factory to stop paying her monthly pension. To this day she is still not being paid.

On New Year's Day of 2002, Ms. Sun went to Beijing to appeal and clarify the truth about Falun Gong. She also connected with seven other women practitioners to go to Tiananmen Square to unfurl a banner reading, "Falun Dafa is Good!" As a result, the police detained the women and beat them cruelly. During their seven-day detention they had to sleep on the bare concrete floor. Ms. Sun contracted a long-term high fever, and was on the brink of death. After returning to Huainan, officials monitored and followed her wherever she went. In June 2002, she was detained again and sent to a brainwashing center located in the Dongshan Hotel in Huainan City. There she firmly resisted, and always maintained righteous thoughts and righteous actions. Finally, she broke out of the brainwashing center. She decided she had to escape from her home and wander from place to place to avoid further persecution.

In spite of being watched and monitored by police agents, she ignored her personal safety during her years in exile, firmly practiced Falun Gong, firmly believed in Master and did Falun Gong work well, day and night. At the beginning of July 2005, after having been followed for a long time, she was again arrested. The officials later secretly sentenced her to five years in prison, which she is now serving in Anhui Province's Suzhou Women's Prison.

Masanjia Forced Labor Camp Continues Persecuting Falun Gong Practitioners After Reorganization - 2005 Data

On March 31, 2005, officials in the 2nd Woman's Station of Masanjia Forced Labor Camp reorganized their groups. In that group's 4th Team, the 2nd Group, more than 40 people were grouped into three cells. The 1st Cell were from the 2nd Group, the 2nd Cell from the 3rd Group and the 3rd Cell from the 1st Group. After re-grouping, the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners resumed.

In the 2nd Group, the 3rd Team and particularly the 4th Team were focused on. The head of the 4th Team was Zhang Zuohui, who had prepared first-hand persecution materials and was responsible for sending the first practitioner from the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp to Dabei Prison. Zhang's immediate supervisor is Zhang Xiurong, the head of the 2nd Group, who was personally involved in the notorious incident of putting eighteen female practitioners into male cells. She was then the head of the team.

There are a total of four teams in the 2nd Group and more than ten prison cells. In each of these cells, two collaborators were designated to monitor each practitioner, one in front and the other in back. The practitioners were forced to sit on small stools and forbidden to move or speak for 15 or 16 hours every day. Prison guards knew the practitioners had been on strike but still let the collaborators continue their persecution. The collaborators brought soaked garlic bulbs to the cell and attempted to force the practitioners to peel them. Seeing that no one cooperated, the guards started a barrage of verbal abuse and stated that those who refused to work would have their labor terms extended. The guards threw the wet garlic at the practitioners, but all of the practitioners still refused to cooperate. The guards prohibited the practitioners from going to sleep at the normal time, 9:00 p.m., and waited until 11:00 p.m. to let the practitioners sleep.

On April 6, 2005, more than 200 people in the 2nd Group, particularly those in the 3rd Team and the 4th Team, acted in concert and removed their prison uniforms. The three division heads, Zhang Xiurong, Zhou Chan and Xiang Kuili, and the heads of the teams rushed into cells the next morning after they discovered what had happened. Several of them started to hold one practitioner down at a time and force her into prison clothes. Later they ordered the collaborators to help them. The practitioners in the 4th Team, including Zhou Ping, Liu Huarong, Li Yan, Li Hong, and Lao He, and practitioners in the 3rd Group Liu Chaoying and Zheng Yanrong were handcuffed. Some were handcuffed to a metal bed or to the heating pipes for several days or more than 10 days, which made it impossible for them to sleep during that period.

Practitioner Ms. Wu Shuqin from Inner Mongolia should have already been released but they illegally extended her term for another two months. She was physically very strong, and several people were unable to hold her. Finally, male guards were called and handcuffed her. While she was carried out she called loudly, "Falun Dafa is great." Several people tried to tape her mouth shut. A male guard clenched her cheek so forcefully that some of her teeth were broken.

After the incident of removing their prison uniforms, the practitioners in the 4th Team held a three-day group hunger strike. Some continued to hunger strike even longer. The guards made a rule that those not wearing prison uniforms were forbidden to use the toilet.

The group of practitioners in the 4th Team were steadfast in resisting the persecution instigated by those individuals in the 2nd Women's Station of the Camp--Su Jing, Wang Naimin and Zhao Laixi. The 2nd Group monitoring office was set up in the 4th Team. The system focused on the 2nd Cell. The practitioners in 2nd Cell refused to cooperate with the evildoers. Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Liu Huarong from Senyang City was handcuffed in a triangular-shaped storage room without light and no airflow for several days. After the practitioners in the 2nd Cell held a group hunger strike protest, she was returned to them. Ms. Lao He from Fusun City was handcuffed in a restroom used by prison police so that she was unable to stand up or squat down for several days. After the practitioners intervened with division head Zhou Chan on the night before May 1, she was released.

One day practitioner Ms. Liu Guifang from Dandong didn't feel well and went to bed a few minutes early. The collaborators dragged her onto the floor, making a row. Guards called her to the office and handcuffed her. Deputy team head Xiang Kuili slapped her face twice. Ms. Liu Chaoying from the 3rd Team was put into a solitary compartment after the prison uniform protest. She was left there until her term in the labor camp ended in June.

The persecution situation of practitioners in the 2nd Group in the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp was and still is very serious. Because the practitioners in the 2nd Cell, 4th Team, refused to cooperate, they were deprived of rest at noon, prohibited from sleeping until 11:00 p.m., and had to get up 5:00 a.m. This lasted until the middle of July 2005 when the 2nd Cell was disbanded.

Pulandian City Procurator Tricks Zou Benxu's Wife into Testifying against Him

Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Zou Benxu and Tang Guohua were arrested in Pulandian City, Liaoning Province, in August 2005 for distributing Falun Gong truth clarification materials. They have been detained in the Pulandian Detention Center for half a year. During their detention, the Pulandian City Procurator illegally prosecuted the two and used very underhanded tactics to trick Mr. Zou's wife, Ms. Zhang Liping, into unknowingly testifying for the police.

According to inside sources, half a month after Mr. Zou was arrested, Procuratorate agents Sun Minglu and Jiang Guanghua went to Mr. Zou's home and asked his wife to sign the arrest warrant. They deceived her by saying that if she signed the warrant, Mr. Zou would be released before the Chinese New Year or receive only a light punishment. If she did not sign the warrant, they threatened, her husband would be certain to receive a heavy punishment. Ms. Zhang believed their lies and signed the arrest warrant.

According to law, the victim must sign the arrest warrant. Because Mr. Zou Benxu refused to sign, the authorities used this very dirty trick to convince Mr. Zou's wife to sign the warrant. Ms. Zhang Liping therefore unknowingly assisted the evil regime in its case against her husband.

Zou Benxu and Tang Guohua have been illegally detained for almost half a year. Mr. Zou's several attempts at a hunger strike to protest the persecution were not successful. Zou Benxu and Tang Guohua have not yet been sentenced.

Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Dong Yanyun from Weifang City Sentenced to Shandong Province's 2nd Forced Labor Camp

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Dong Yanyun from Weifang City has been homeless for many years to avoid arrest and persecution. On January 6, 2006, the police arrested her at a department store as she distributed truth clarification flyers. She was later sent to Shandong Province's 2nd Women's Forced Labor Camp.

Ms. Dong, 55 years old, was an accountant working in the city's Environmental Sanitation Administration Bureau. Prior to practicing Falun Gong she had deteriorating health. She had to rely on medication or an intravenous infusion when her condition was serious. Her illness symptoms became chronic and lasted for six months. After she began practicing Falun Gong in 1996, her physical symptoms gradually improved without medications. She could handle her daily work and lived her life according to Falun Gong, focusing less on personal advantages, caring more for others, and controlling her temper, which had been a problem for her in the past. Falun Gong benefited her physically and mentally.

Her quality of life was enormously enhanced. Ms. Dong was happy, with a smile on her face all the time. Whenever or wherever she met people, she would tell them about the greatness of Falun Gong.

In July 20, 1999, the CCP and Jiang's Communist regime began the irrational, baseless persecution of Falun Gong and practitioners. Ms. Dong used many kinds of reasonable methods to clarify the truth to people. In April 2001, as she was posting Falun Gong flyers at night, she was arrested and sent to the Weifang City Detention Center. During her detention, the police attempted to force her to give up Falun Gong, but she persisted in her belief and remained firm. She later was transferred to the Weicheng District School, run by the ruling Party, to be "reformed." She still firmly believed in Master and Falun Gong, and did not give up. With the power of her righteous thoughts, she fled the school and was forced to become homeless, although she had a warm home of her own.

She continued to peacefully tell the truth, expose the CCP's violence against Falun Gong practitioners, and make appeals to stop the absurd and cruel persecution. On January 6, 2006, someone who did not know the truth reported her to police as she distributed flyers at a department store. Agents from the Chenguan Police Station arrested her and sent her to the 610 Office. They later called in a another team of persecutors at the Weicheng District Police Station. They transferred her to the city detention center, originally called the Weichen District Detention Center. She was sentenced to three years of forced labor merely because she persisted in her belief in Falun Gong.

According to one source, on January 20, 2006, she was detained in the Shandong Province's 2nd Women's Forced Labor Camp, No. 4 Division in Wang Village, Zibo City.

When you read this article, please send forth righteous thoughts to help Ms. Dong and other practitioners detained or imprisoned and those in forced labor camps, and encourage them to use righteous thoughts and righteous actions to escape from those morally bankrupt places. I hope that everyone, whether inside China or outside of China, and all organizations and associations with a mind of righteousness and goodness, including foreign governments, might step forward to rescue the practitioners being persecuted in China and stop this brutal persecution.

Here is the list of people and organizations personally involved in persecuting Ms. Dong:
