  • Malaysia: Police Release Detained Practitioners

Malaysian police decided not to bring charges against three Falun Gong practitioners and one other human rights advocate who had protested the persecution outside the local Chinese Embassy. The four were released on bail February 27, 2006.

The four had gone to the Chinese Embassy on the morning of February 23, 2006 to protest the Chinese Communist regime's persecution of Falun Gong. They delivered a letter to Ambassador Wang Chungui. The police soon arrived and arrested them due to pressure from embassy officials. The police took them to the police department and planned to charge them of "Illegal Assembly" according to the No. 27 item in the police decree.

On February 24, the police applied to extend their detention to 72 hours. On the afternoon of February 26, the police intended to further extend the detention period, but the practitioners' lawyer believed that the police did not have sufficient excuse to detain them any longer. Eventually, the judge ordered the police to decide whether to charge them by February 27. If not, the police must release the practitioners. The police discussed with the prosecutor on the morning of February 27 on whether to charge them or not, and finally decided to release the practitioners on bail.

Practitioners inside and outside Malaysia have been clarifying the facts to the local police, the government and general public over the last few days. They have informed them of the CCP's persecution of Falun Gong, and at the same time, the practitioners wished that the Malaysian government would make a righteous choice, and not assist the CCP in the persecution of Falun Gong.

Heavenly principles are clear. The persecution of Falun Gong is widely known around the world. We hope that world governments can see clearly the CCP's evil nature, and choose to side with justice.

Washington State: Practitioners Clarify the Truth to State Government Officials

On February 23, 2006, practitioners from the State of Washington once again hosted a "Legislative Day" at the State Government building. They did this to further expose the persecution and the practice of Falun Gong to state congressional members. This wasis the fourth "Legislative Day" that practitioners have held since 2003.

Practitioners paired up Chinese and English speakers to visit the offices of 42 elected official.

Practitioners focused on the attack of practitioner Dr. Peter Yuan Li in Atlanta. He was assaulted and robbed in his home. They also spoke about the federal congressional hearing on February 15 that condemned Microsoft, Yahoo, Cisco Systems, and Google for helping the CCP to limit free speech and further censorship in China. Practitioners distributed copies of the "Nine Commentaries on Communist Party" and informed officials about the wave of withdrawals from the CCP. In regard to Hu Jintao's upcoming visit, practitioners drafted a letter to the Governor asking him to publicly condemn the Chinese Communist regime's persecution of Falun Gong. Elected officials and their assistants expressed concerns about the persecution. A Native-American congressional member showed deep understanding on the history of the Chinese Communist Party destroying the Chinese culture. Some of the officials very positively responded in signing the letter to Governor.

Every office indicated that they often receive emails from practitioners. Even though most of the offices are familiar the issue of Falun Gong, some of the offices yet have never contacted practitioners directly. Practitioners stated that they will try to do better and personally visit each and every one office.
