Mr. Luan Fusheng, 55, from Shijiazhuang, Hebei Province, China, was illegally arrested in October 2002 for practicing Falun Gong and for printing Falun Gong truth-clarification materials. The Wanbolin Precinct Court in Taiyuan City sentenced him to 11 years in prison. Mr. Luan Fusheng was taken to Jinzhong Prison in Shanxi Province in the beginning of November 2003 and has been held in the prison's 13th district since then.

Mr. Luan Fusheng has suffered cruel and inhuman torture. In the beginning of June 2005, Mr. Luan became very ill. He was diagnosed with inflammation of the pectoral muscles, complications from diabetes and high blood pressure. He is skin and bones and extremely frail. Additionally, his body has become swollen, especially his legs. He suffers from labored breathing and can barely finish a sentence before being out of breath. He was admitted to the 109 the Police Hospital in Taiyuan City three times for daily insulin injections. Mr. Luan has been taken back to Jinzhong Prison, but the staff there does not provide the required medical treatment and care, much less the special diet required for diabetes patients. His health has been deteriorating. In fact, his life is now at risk. His family requested that he be bailed out for medical treatment, but the prison has turned the request down. The following is a brief summary about Mr. Luan Fusheng and his being victimized because of China's persecution of Faun Gong.

Mr. Luan Fusheng used to work for the Properties Division of Hebei Provincial government. Mr. Luan started practicing Falun Gong in 1995, which improved his health and morality significantly. He used to suffer from severe diabetes and high blood pressure, but returned to health after he started practicing Falun Gong.

In October 1999, Mr. Luan Fusheng went to Beijing to the State Appeals Office to clarify the truth about Falun Gong. He was arrested and taken back to Shijiazhuang. A policeman named Wei Ming from the Xinghua Street Police Station in Qiaoxi Precinct, Shijiazhuang City handcuffed Mr. Luan's hands to the balustrade of the 2nd floor balcony during interrogation, during which he was subjected to torture. Afterwards, he was imprisoned in Beijiao Detention Center for 30 days.

In the beginning of 2000, Mr. Luan Fusheng went to Beijing again to exercise his constitutional right as a Chinese citizen. He went to appeal to the State Appeals Office for Falun Gong and was illegally arrested. Because he refused to tell the police his name or address, they tortured him for days before they finally released him. Later he visited his friend's home in another town, where he was illegally arrested and detained by police. He was imprisoned for over 60 days in the 1st  Detention Center in Shijiazhuang and then sentenced to one year forced labor. Because of his high blood pressure, he was released on bail, after the police from Xinghua Police Station had extorted 1,000 yuan from him.

In 2001, Mr. Luan was warned that staff from Xinghua Street Police Station was planning to take him to a forced labor camp again, so he left home to avoid further persecution. He stopped at several areas before arriving in Shanxi Province.

In late October 2002, the police arrested him and 24 fellow Falun Gong practitioners in Taiyuan City or Taigu County, Shanxi Province. Mr. Ding Lihong, a Falun Gong practitioner from Shijaizhuang, was also arrested, and police tortured him to death during interrogation.

On July 7, 2003, Wanbolin Precinct Court in Taiyuan City illegally sentenced him to 11 years in prison. Four months later, he was taken to Jinzhong Prison in Shanxi Province and has been imprisoned in the 13th district since.

Mr. Luan Fusheng wanted to prove his innocence. Therefore, he appealed to the Appeals Court of Taiyuan City. However, Taiyuan City Appeals Court disregarded the law and overruled his appeal in October 2003.

The physical and mental torments he suffered resulted in his becoming quite ill. Between June 2005 and December 2005, Mr. Luan Fusheng was sent to the hospital for emergency resuscitation three times. His health deteriorated rapidly. After over two months of medical treatment, Mr. Luan's condition finally stabilized. A diabetes patient needs a special diet and meticulous care. At present, Mr. Luan suffers from high blood pressure. He is very skinny and frail. He is always out of breath and can hardly finish a sentence. Prison is a harsh environment and is not the place for someone with severe illnesses. He should be released immediately.

His family has repeatedly requested parole for medical reasons, but the prison denied the request each time, claiming that Falun Gong practitioners do not have the right to be bailed out for medical treatment. Nevertheless, his family continues to write to the prison, but the request has been turned down repeatedly.

Mr. Luan Fusheng is 55 years old. Simply because he chooses to practice Falun Gong and clarify the truth about Falun Gong, he has not had a moment of peace during the past seven years. The physical and mental torments he suffered have reached an impasse. He is a late-stage diabetes patient and prone to life-threatening complications. If his condition is not treated, Mr. Luan will be beyond treatment.

Human life is of utmost importance. Each and every Falun Gong practitioner has the right to live as a citizen in any country. Shanxi Province Prison Bureau and Jinzhong Prison must grant him bail for medical treatment right away.

On the morning of February 14, 2006, the Fifth Ward Head Su Li (male) and others of Tieling City Labor Camp in Liaoning Province were encouraged by Labor Camp Director Wang Tiemin (male) to brutally beat five detained Falun Gong practitioners and shock them with electric batons. The practitioners were Mr. Xiao Guozhi, Mr. Liu Zhenguo, Mr. Qian Chuanguo, Mr. Qin Jingtao, and Mr. Zhang Hongda. Mr. Xiao Guozhi was severely injured, and his face was disfigured.

The guards persecuted these five practitioners for refusing to wear uniforms. They tortured them with beatings and then shocked them with electric batons. Su Li ordered guards to use eight regular electric batons, plus one very high voltage electric baton. The tortured lasted for more than two hours.

Mr. Xiao Guozhi has been severely injured, and his face is severely disfigured due to the electric baton shocks. His lips are curved outward, and are swollen to one and a half inches thick; the left side of his face is deformed from the swelling, with a 5-inch-long unhealed wound from a baton burn, seeping liquid. His deformed face is a tragic sight to behold.

Another Falun Gong practitioner, Mr. Du Shulin (58 years old), became deaf after being shocked with an electric baton by the Fourth Ward Head Li Hongjun (male). He has requested many times to be released for medical treatment, but all of his requests were refused.

The Third Ward of Tieling City Labor Camp is also a very brutal place, where Falun Gong practitioners have been forced to do heavy labor every day.

On September 11, 2005, the First Ward Head Miao Zhanling (male) directed more than fifty prisoners to beat nine practitioners (see /emh/articles/2005/9/30/65430.html). The incident on February 14, 2006 is another example of the serious torture taking place in Tieling Labor Camp.

Mr. Qi Laixing, 72 years old, was a Falun Gong practitioner from Jiaohe City, Jilin Province. He started to practice Falun Gong in 1996. At that time, he had many diseases. After practicing Falun Gong, he recovered from all of them. On October 2, 1999, he went to Beijing to appeal against the persecution of Falun Gong. As a result, his property was illegally confiscated and he was sent to a brainwashing center twice. Later on, he was sent to a forced labor camp for two years. During his imprisonment he suffered from all kinds of cruel torture. He was forced to sit on the cold concrete floor from 6 a.m. in the morning to 10 p.m. in the evening. He was not allowed to sleep. If he were found sleeping, they would put a bug in his ear and or stab him with needles. Mr. Qi slept on a 1.2-meter wide single bed with three other criminals who were ill. There was no heat in the room. Because of the lack of food Mr. Qi was very weak. While in the prison, Mr. Qi was also forced to sleep on the floor next to the toilet and not provided a blanket in the winter. Mr. Qi was tortured in an effort to extort a "confession" from him. He was exposed to extreme heat or forced to stand in the rain until he passed out. Police used wooden sticks to beat him until he was bruised all over. After his detention, Mr. Qi was sent to a brainwashing center and fined several thousand yuan. Under the long-term persecution of both body and spirit by the CCP, Mr. Qi died on February 28, 2006.

Mr. Cui Yuchen, about 70 years old, was a Falun Gong practitioner from Jiaohe City, Jilin Province. He was a senior principal of the Jiaohe City Advanced Study School. After he began to practice Falun Gong in 1996, he experienced great changes in both body and mind. His wife and son also started to learn. After the Chinese Communist Party began to persecute Falun Gong in 1999, party members and police often visited his home to harass him. His wife and his son were arrested and sent to brainwashing sessions many times and were also sent to a labor camp for persecution. In 2004, during the Chinese New Year, after his wife Ms. Zhao Fengzhi and his son Cui Song were arrested, Mr. Cui went to Zhang Yuhe's home (the head of the 610 Office) to demand that his wife and son be released. Mr. Cui was abused and beaten up by Zhang Yuhe. Mr. Cui visited all related governmental departments in Jiaohe City, however there was no place to redress this injustice. The Jiaohe municipal Party Secretary said to Zhang Yuhe in a conference: "You beat him too lightly!"

In October 2005, Jiaohe City launched a campaign to persecute and arrest Falun Gong practitioners. Mr. Cui fell ill under this persecution. Before he died, he was denied the right to see his son. On December 29, 2005 Mr. Cui died.

Xiao Yu lives in a village inside Shanhaiguan, the starting place of the Great Wall of China. Her husband works as a town police officer and has a relatively high salary, so her family life has been pretty good. However, Xiao Yu suffered from chronic headaches, which no medicine could make go away.

A Falun Gong practitioner in the village knows that Xiao Yu is a good person and therefore always tried to help her to learn Falun Gong. However, Xiao Yu was afraid to learn, since she considered her husband's work to be most important. One day the practitioner saw that Xiao Yu was suffering from a headache again and sincerely told her, "You should read Falun Gong books, since you will benefit from reading them."

The headache made Xiao Yu very uncomfortable, so she picked up the book Zhuan Falun and started to read. The strange headache somehow disappeared before she even noticed it. When she was half way through the book, she learned that CCP leaders had increased the persecution of Falun Gong. For fear of affecting her husband's job security, she gave the book back to the practitioner.

After only a short period of time, Xiao Yu's headaches returned. She suffered terribly. Her husband felt compassion for his wife and told her that he would try to find the book Zhuan Falun at the police station. However, he found that all the books in the police station had been taken away. Thus, her husband asked Xiao Yu to borrow Zhuan Falun from the practitioner again, and allowed her to learn to practice Falun Gong secretly.

At present, there are tens of thousands of people just like Xiao Yu who know clearly that Falun Dafa is good, but are afraid to practice openly, fearing persecution. In a society where black and white are reversed, where lies cover the sky, people experience so much suffering.

I was detained at the Henan Province Third Forced Labor Camp in August 2003 and was subjected to brainwashing along with Mr. Zhao Guoan. Mr. Zhao once told me that he was clear-headed only when he was reciting the words in Falun Gong books.

Mr. Zhao Guoan refused to write the three statements and instead wrote down "I will firmly persist in practicing Falun Gong until the end and die with no regrets." Drug-addict inmate Liu Wei reported this to the camp guards, and the guards beat Mr. Zhao brutally. After Warden Jia Zhigang got off work that evening, he had the criminal inmates bring Mr. Zhao to the so-called "conversation room." Mr. Zhao was beaten mercilessly until he fell to his knees. That night the guards ordered him to face the wall until 2 a.m. At 4 a.m. he was forced to get up to face the wall again. He had to work during the day with no rest at night. That lasted for two weeks.

The last time I saw Zhao Guoan, the guards had asked inmate Chen Guoqing to call him out. Mr. Zhao was unable to walk normally at that time, and Chen Guoqing grabbed his neck, held him to the ground, and then pulled him back up, saying, "Don't pretend." Meanwhile the guards suggested using Mr. Zhao's debit card to buy food for themselves.

Mr. Zhao died as a result of the harsh treatment. Afterwards the guards had Chen Guoqing spread the rumor that Zhao Guoan was bailed out for medical treatment.

On the morning of February 16, 2006, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Yang Pinggang was illegally put on trial in the Taishan District Court of Tai'an City, Shandong Province. Mr. Yang appealed, citing how he had been inhumanely tortured. He had endured three whole days of cruel beatings and being force-fed a bottle of liquor. When he was very drunk, the authorities obtained false statements from him and made him fingerprint the interrogation recordings. The CCP has already decided to sentence him to six years in prison for "propagandizing in opposition to the government." Mr. Yang has been detained for more than seven months, and he is appealing to the higher court to be released since he is innocent.

In late September 2005, police from the Heping Police Department in Tianjin City destroyed a Falun Gong materials production site, arrested practitioner Ms. Jiang Lili and ransacked her house.

Ms. Jiang went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution, and she suffered severe harm both physically and mentally from the torture. In a hospital, she was later diagnosed with a brain tumor, but the police from the Heping Police Department refused to release her and continued to persecute her. Ms. Jiang Lili is now bedridden with incontinence. The police extorted a total of several thousand yuan from Jiang Lili's various family members.

Ms. Jiang's mother, who is in her 80s, stays at Jiang's home, and she cannot afford medical treatment for her illness. The whole family is in a very difficult situation.

1. [Wuqing District, Tianjing City] Mr. Liu Lixin, etc. Arrested

On the evening of February 26, 2006, policemen from the Wuqing District Department of Tianjing City and the local station arrested Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Liu Lixin, Mr. Fan Jianming's wife from Yang Village, and Mr. Zhao Xiang of Huanghudian Village. They were taken to the Wuqing District Detention Center. That same evening, practitioners Mr. Yang Yusuo and Mr. Yang Yuyong from Huanghuadian Village were arrested and detained in Wuqing District Detention Center.

At around 8 p.m. on February 28, 2006, five practitioners who were studying Falun Gong books in Zhuershan Village, Caijiagou Town were arrested by the police, who suddenly stormed in. They have been detained in the Yufu County Detention Center. One of the five practitioners has managed to escape the Detention Center. The other four are Mr. Wu Guitang, 45 years old; Ms Yu Yahua, 48; Mr. Shen Qichao, 54 years old; Mr. Wang Shutan, 44.

Practitioner Ms. Lu Jianwen, a teacher employed by the Doumen District Elementary School, was reported by the principal Zhou Changwang, male, because she clarified the truth to her students. On December 16, 2005, she was arrested and has been detained in the Doumen District Detention Center ever since. Practitioner Ms. Zhao Juanjuan, Ms. Lu's mother, was also arrested on the same day. Ms. Lu Jianwen has been on a hunger strike to protest the illegal detention.

On February 21, 2006, practitioner Ms. Zeng Qing was followed and arrested by plainclothes policemen. Even though Ms. Zeng Qing did not carry any Falun Gong materials the plainclothes policemen still searched her, and detained her.

On January 7, 2006, practitioners Ms. Bu Liping and Ms. Duan Xiufeng (also called Duan Rui) were reported when clarifying the truth at Youfeng Village, Zhongxin Township, Pucheng County. They were arrested by policemen Ji Zihe (male), Zeng Wenbiao (male), and Zheng Mingfu (male) and detained. Ms. Duan Xiufeng was released after a 14-day detention, while Ms. Bu Liping has been sentenced to two years of forced labor. She was sent to the Fujian Province Women's Forced Labor Camp at the end of February 2006.

Practitioner Mr. Wang Shusheng has been detained in the Shenyang City New Prison Block. A few days ago, he was beaten severely by prison guards and prisoners of Seventeenth Ward, First Prison. He now needs two people to help him walk.

6. [Xingyang City, Henan Province] Ms. Ma Qimei Arrested in Guangzhou

Practitioner Ms. Ma Qimei went to find a job in Guangzhou City. Policemen from the Guangzhou City Department arrested her when she was clarifying the truth in the Guangzhou City Train Station. Her family received a call from the Guangzhou Train Station police, so they just knew what had happened to Ms. Ma Qimei.

Practitioners detained in the Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp are forced to give up their faith and curse Falun Gong before being released. Otherwise, they will be sent to a brainwashing center for seven days. If they still refuse to accept the brainwashing, they will be sentenced to another term of forced labor.

Right now, practitioner Mr. Wang Guoxiang is suffering cruel tortures in the Chaoyanggou Labor Camp because he refused to accept the brainwashing.

At around 11a.m., on February 28, 2006, practitioner Ms. Huo Guirong from Shaopu Village, Bingcao Township, Shenzhou City, was arrested by policemen from the Shenzhou City Department, the Hengshui City Department, and the Bingchao Township Station. That same night, practitioner Mr. Li Shaozhong, who is employed by the Shenzhou County Hospital, was also arrested.

AT the end of February 2006, practitioner Ms. He Xiaoling from Wuhan City just returned from her hometown when she was surrounded by policemen who had laid in wait at her family housing to send her to a brainwashing center. Ms. He Xiaoling immediately rejected the arrest and clarified the truth to the people standing nearby. Seeing that so many people were watching, the police did not go through with the arrest. That same night, when people were off guard, the police bullied her family member and the employer of her family member into sending Ms. He Xiaoling to the Hubei Province Government Compound Brainwashing Center, leaving her six year-old daughter without her mother's care.

At around 8 a.m. on March 2, 2006, practitioner Mr. Liu Zhiwen was arrested. About five policemen from the Xiazhuang Town Station were led by Head Li Hui (male), including Yang Zhen (male) and Yang Yanfeng (male). These policemen are under the direction of the CCP Political Security Office Head Shao Li (male) of the Gucheng County Police Department. Mr. Liu Zhiwen is detained in Gucheng County Detention Center. Policemen ransacked his home and took away his Falun Gong materials.

Practitioner Mr. Lu Hai from Linxiang City has been tortured in Xinkaipu Forcedf Labor Camp located in Changsha City. The guards have not allowed Mr. Lu to use a comforter or any blanket for four months because he refuses to give up his faith.

Practitioners Ms. Guo Yunfang and Ms. Yu Qingyun from Tangshan City were reported by Liu Wenzhe, a retired man who lives in Tangshan City West Power Plant Family Housing, 2^nd Building, 2-102, and his wife Li Shuhua, and followed when passing out truth clarifying materials. They were both arrested by policemen Wang Wei (male) and two others from Diaoyutai Station and detained in the station overnight. Policemen ransacked their homes, took away their books and Master Li's photo, and extorted seven thousand yuan from them.

Since January 29, 2006 (Chinese New Year Day), policemen from Diaoyutai Station have harassed these two practitioners many times by demanding that they go to the station and forcing them become destitute and homeless in order to avoid being illegally arrested at home.

On February 27, 2006, practitioner Mr. Gao Ke was arrested. Another practitioner, Mr. Zhang Xingye, has been missing he after went to Mr. Gao Ke's home on February 28, 2006.

15. [Xianning City, Hubei Province] 610 Office Agents Search Practitioners

Recently, the Xianan District 610 Office issued a document ordering each lower level to thoroughly search practitioners, to assign four people to closely watch each practitioner, and to report these "four to one" names to the 610 Office. They gave orders to closely monitor and prevent practitioners from going to Beijing. The document was stamped "secret" and had to be returned after viewing, without any copies being made.

On March 2, 2006, practitioner Mr. Wang Hongge's family went to Siping City Prison to visit him. They requested to have him bailed out on medical parole. When they arrived, the prison guards said they were not allowed to visit and refused their request to see the prison administration. The security guard at the gate said, "Our superiors gave orders that no practitioners' families are allowed to enter this office building and that the administration will not see practitioners' families."

At around 9 a.m. on February 28, 2006, practitioner Mr. Liu Zhenxi from Yanji City was arrested by the National Security agents of the Yanji City Police Department. Practitioner Sun (gender unknown) was arrested at 3 p.m., and practitioner Mr. Chi Qingsong from Badao Township, Chaoyangchuan Town, Longjing City, was arrested on the evening of the same day. Practitioner Ms. Dong Guizhi and another male practitioner (name unknown) have been missing since before February 28, 2006.

On February 27, 2006, practitioners Ms. Du Guihua and Ms. Li Jing were arrested again. Ms. Du Guihua's husband, a non-practitioner, is missing as well and nobody answers their cell phone or house phone.

Ever since February 28, 2006, local policemen have been harassing practitioners at home.

On February 27, 2006, practitioner Ms. Huang Qiumei and others went to a fellow practitioner's home to group study the "Fa." Lead by Xie Zhibo (male), and Li Wenhai (male), the CCP Qingyuan City Officers, CCP Political and Security officers, and National Security agents of Qingyuan City Police Department arrested many practitioners, including Ms. Huang Qiumei, Ms. Wu Huilian, Mr. He Shuren from Shaoguan City, Ms. Liang Huizhen, and others. The police took away a computer, printer, and Falun Gong materials from Ms. Wu Huilian's house, and also confiscated many Falun Gong books from Ms. Huang Qiumei's house. Ms. Huang Qiumei escaped police custody.

Since February 28, 2006, several practitioners from the Yanbian Prefecture have been arrested, including Mr. Liu Zhenxi, Ms. Dong Guizhi, Mr. Deng, Mr. Lin Zelin, and four other practitioners (names unknown). We have heard that more practitioners are missing.

On January 30, 2006 (the second day after Chinese New Year), practitioner Ms. Kong Fanfen was arrested when passing out Falun Gong "blessing pendants." Her home was ransacked.

On the evening of February 12, 2006, practitioner Ms. Yan Huiqin was arrested when posting truth-clarifying banners near the Beigongmen Area.

At around 11 p.m. on February 19, 2006, practitioners Ms. Ren Shuzhi and Ms. Gao Jingxiao were arrested from their homes. Police ransacked Ms. Ren Shuzhi's home.

According to inside sources, Heilongjiang Province Police Department and Harbin City Police Department recently held a meeting planning the arrest of all Falun Gong practitioners who are on the wanted list and secretly divided the names between the Departments. Each department will have an agent to do the hunting back to back (which means that each agent is assigned names, but they are not allowed to know other names). They are going all over the country to search.

Practitioner Ms. Wang Yufang was arrested by policemen from Liuliqiao Station on December 8, 2005, and had been detained for 15 days in the Fengtai District Detention Center. She has been transferred to the Beijing Second Detention Center located in Dougezhuang in the Chaoyang District, which is run by the 610 Office to torture Falun Gong practitioners.

According to a reliable source, there are detained practitioners in their 60s in the patient ward of Harbin Women Prison. They are all very weak from not being allowed to do the Falun Gong exercises for a long time. One of them was tortured until she was paralyzed, and the other practitioner, Ms. Huang Yanzhen, was brutally beaten when she did the exercises. The guards refused to let Ms. Huang's family visit her to avoid their violence being exposed. They lied to her family by saying that Ms. Huang did not want to be visited by her family.

At around 1:30 p.m. on February 5, 2006, practitioner Mr. Chen Jiawei was blocked by a police patrol vehicle when driving his three-wheeled taxi on the east side of the Fangzizhangyou Water Reservoir. He was arrested and detained in Weifang City Detention Center, and his three-wheeled taxi has been locked in the Changning Police Station.

Mr. Chen Jiawei's wife went to visit him, but was refused by the Administration of the Detention Center. They just requested a 500-yuan fee.

Policemen from Changning Station called Mr. Chen Jiawei's wife's employer, Jinshan Post Office, asking them to limit her activities and monitor her phone calls.

The police sealed all information regarding Mr. Chen Jiawei over the past more than 20 days.

On around December 8, 2006, Linju County National Security Agents arrested practitioner Mr. Liu Guozheng who went to retreive his personal ID. They detained him in the Linju County Detention Center, where Mr. Liu went on hunger strike to protest the illegal persecution. Mr. Liu was released after six days after National Security agents extorted 10,000 yuan secretly from his family without issuing any receipts.

On February 22, 2006, those National Security agents again tried to extort money from Mr. Liu Guozheng.

On around February 20, 2006, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zheng Deqin was arrested by National Security agents and policemen from her home located in the Shiqiaoxi District because someone reported her. She is now detained in the Miyun County Detention Center and is on a hunger strike to protest.

In the middle of March 2005, practitioner Ms. Du Yunhong and another female f practitioner were arrested when cleaning the public road. They were both detained in the Ganjingzi District Police Department. The other practitioner was released unconditionally after she went on a hunger strike for 15 days

Ms. Du Yunhong had been detained in the Yaojia Detention Center in Dalian City first and then was transferred to the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp in Shenyang City with a two-year term. Her family members could not recognize her when they visited, because she had become very thin and very dark.

Practitioner Ms. Shen Dianmei is around 45 years old, and lived in Qiujiazhuang Village, Zhifang Town, in Linju County. At around 11 a.m. on March 2, 2006, she was arrested from her family-owned barbershop by policemen of the Anti-Cult Division of the Linju County Department. A witness said that the police took her bed comforter and other items when they arrested her.

On February 25, 2006, policemen from Yanjiao Town Department stormed into practitioners' homes, ransacked them, took away their personal belongings, and arrested at least eight people, including practitioners and their non-practitioner family members. Those arrested include Mr. Zhang Lide, Mr. Ma Weishan, Ms. Wang Yue, Ms. Wang Shuhua, Mr. Zhou Chuanzhong, Ms. Zhou Jia, Mr. Bai Cong, and Mr. Zhang Guangliang.

Recently, a Falun Gong material production center located in Huajiadi was destroyed. Practitioner Wang (gender unknown) was arrested. Practitioner Mr. Yang Shili from the Fangyunli Neighborhood was arrested while clarifying the truth several days ago. Another practitioner, Ms. Qi Shilan from Gaojiayuan Neighborhood, was arrested one week ago while passing out truth clarifying materials.

On February 28, 2006, six practitioners were sharing experiences in a home, when suddenly two policemen from the Liyuan Station stormed in and tried to search the place. Five practitioners escaped one by one, while the last one, Ms. Pan Yuzhen was arrested. Policemen took away her new battery operated cart (worth 2500 yuan), and released her in the evening after extorting ten thousand yuan.

The principals of each elementary school in Qinhuangdao City have distributed a form to every student, forcing them write their "understanding" of Falun Gong, and forcing parents to sign their names on the form.

On the afternoon of February 22, 2006, Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Ma Liangying, Ms. Li Qiongying, Ms. Huang Yuanzhen, Mr. Hu Tingshun, and Ms. Xiaoqin (last name unknown) were arrested by National Security agents of Daying County Police Department and policemen from the local Second Station while clarifying the truth. They are all detained in Daying County Detention Center.

On March 1, 2006, many policemen from the Changchun City Police Department ransacked Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Song Fengqin's home, and took away many Falun Gong materials.

Heilongjiang Province Prison, located in Hulan County, is divided into one Training Ward and fifteen Wards. The Training Ward is a center for torturing Falun Gong practitioners. All practitioners have to stay in the Training Ward first. They are not allowed to talk. Two to four inmates closely monitor each practitioner. The torture means include criticizing meetings (mental attacking), deprivation of sleep, cruel beating, pulling arms and legs apart very hard, "tying the rope", (1) locking in the small cells, (2) forced standing for a long time, etc. The guards also force practitioners to write the three statements. All practitioners transferred to each regular ward are still monitored by criminal inmates.

On February 24, 2006, Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Li Tingjun and his wife Shi Yuhua from Jia Block, Guoyuanxili Neighborhood, Miyun County were arrested. Their son Li Ke was also arrested on February 25, 2006.

On the evening of February 22, 2006, Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Pi Zhanlu and his wife Liu Zhancui were arrested and taken from their home in Shataizi Village, Anding Town, in Daxing District. Another couple, Mr. and Mrs. Pan Shunjiang, from Panmafang Village, Anding Town were also arrested and taken from their home on the evening of February 28, 2006. Their whereabouts are unknown.

47. [Qingdao City, Shandong Province] Mr. Li Yu Arrested While Clarifying the Truth

Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Li Yu was a teacher employed by Yonghe Street Elementary School located in Licang District, Qingdao City. He was reported while clarifying the truth to fellow teachers. The Principal Yu Aihua (female) reported to local police, and had him arrested on February 18, 2006.

Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Liu Yicun is in his 60s, and lives in the Laoshaoguo Group, Mazhangzi Village, Gushanzi Township, in Chaoyang County. His mind and body both greatly improved after practicing Falun Gong.

After July 20, 1999, just because he spoke one sentence to appeal for Falun Gong and Master Li, he was arrested by policemen from Gushanzi Township Station. Policemen ransacked his home, and took away his Zhuan Falun book. Mr. Liu Yicun was forced to leave home and become destitute for six years in order to avoid being arrested. He came back home before the 2006 Chinese New Year because he missed his family very much. The Gushanzi Township Police Station Head Mou Zhenkui (male) and Cahoyang County Detention Center Deputy Director Wu Baoliang (male) ransacked his home again. They took away his motorcycles, VCD player, radio, cell phone, Palm Pilot, MP3, watch, electricity re-charger, and Falun Gong materials.

Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Jiang Fushun was an employee (Security Office Head) of the Logging Plant of Yingchun Forestry in Hulin City. He was dismissed from his job because he practices Falun Gong. He has been arrested many times since 1999.

On January 12, 2006, policemen from the Forestry Department arrested Mr. Jiang again, and ransacked his home. He is now detained in the local Detention Center. Mr. Jiang firmly believes in Falun Gong, so the guards tortured him with the Big Hang Up overnight, and plan to sentence him to forced labor.

At about 6:00-7:00 p.m. on March 2, 2006, police from the Daming Police Station of Tiaobingshan City in Liaoning Province broke into a Falun Gong practitioner's house and arrested practitioners Mr. Li Xinji, Mr. Liu Bin and Mr. Li Haitang.

Ms. Zhang Qi, 83, is a practitioner from Shapingba District of Chongqing City, and used to work as an Associate Professor in the Sports Department of the former Southwestern Political and Judicial University. After she learned Falun Gong in 1998, she experienced great changes. Her physical body was rejuvenated and didn't have any of the problems associated with old age.

At the end of 2003, when Ms. Zhang Qi was clarifying the truth at the Ciqikou Fair, police from the Chongqing City 610 Office and the Security Office of the Southwestern Political and Judicial University followed her and arrested her. The police went to ransack her house twice in a short period of time. They also illegally monitored her twenty-four hours a day for nine months. The police constantly harassed her and also limited her freedom through tapping her phone as well as through other persecutory methods. They also tried to prevent her from studying the principles of Falun Gong or doing the exercises. From the extended period of persecution, Ms. Zhang Qi's mind and body suffered severe damage. The persecution led to her to becoming both blind and deaf. She no longer could take care of herself and was forced to check into a hospital. She passed away on February 4, 2006.

Ms. Zhang Yinying, 52, is a Falun Gong practitioner who worked in the Environmental Sanitation Department of the Dongcheng District of Beijing. She was illegally arrested by police in 2001 and sentenced to one year of forced labor.

In July 2003, she was illegally arrested for the second time and sentenced to forced labor for two and a half years. During this period, she was brutally tortured and all her teeth were knocked out. In the end, the police had to give up on her and she was released on January 3, 2006, after suffering a full term of forced labor.

On the afternoon of February 20, 2006, a police officer with the last name of Dong led four to five police officers to forcibly break into Ms. Zhang's home. As soon as they entered the house, they furiously started to turn the house inside out as they searched for about forty minutes. Afterwards, they arrested her. Now, her whereabouts are unknown.

The Heizuizi Women's Forced Labor Camp of Changchun City is now forcing Falun Gong practitioners to make artificial butterflies, a type of work that involves the use of poisonous materials. The smoke emitted in the process reduces vision, increases blood pressure, causes abnormal heartbeat, dizziness, and blurring of vision. Thus, such work is poisonous and is very harmful to the body. However, the evil guards brutally enslave the practitioners to work without protection and totally disregard the lives of the practitioners. Practitioner Ms. Yao Shuqing refused to cooperate and because of this, she has been brutal tortured.

Practitioner Ms. Yu Haiqing called out loudly in the cafeteria, "Falun Dafa is Good". She was locked into a separate room by the guards and brutally tortured. People can hear painful moaning from the room. Someone saw the guards going into the room with electric batons.

The book entitled "Walk Into Nandaihe" (book code ISBN-7-5387-1814-1), which was published by the Times Publisher of Literature and Art (Address: 124 Renmin Street, Changchun City, Zip Code 130021; phone number: 86-431-5638648), printed by the Tonghua Normal University Zhaopai Printing Center, contains content regarding the Tian'anmen Self-immolation Case which used the sad death of little Si Ying to incite the hatred of the public who do not know the truth. This book was published in 2003, with 2000 copies. The author is Liu Chunyou (male). The Editor in Charge is Liu Dehai (male). The Proofreading Chief is Jiang Bian (male). The Designer of the book cover is Yang Dejun (male).

Practitioner Ms. Wang Xiubo was arrested at her home in Beijing by police on the evening of February 24, 2006. It is not clear where she is currently being held.

On February 26, 2006, practitioner Mr. Xie Zhiyuan from Chengdu City was illegally arrested while clarifying the truth. His whereabouts are unknown.

Practitioner Ms. Wu Yueju from Pulandian City served a full term at the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp, but the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp did not notify her family members, and also refused to release her. Now Ms. Wu Yueju is protesting the persecution through a hunger strike.

In the textbook "Thoughts and Morality" (a textbook for seventh graders, the first edition), on page 87, there is text that defames Falun Gong.

Practitioner Mr. Di Wenzhu is a staff member of the Geological Prospecting Institute affiliated with the Yanjiao Steel Production Bureau of Sanhe City in Hebei Province. He was arrested by the Sanhe City Police Department on February 27, 2006 when his home was also illegally ransacked.

Recently, police from Yongji District in Jilin Province searched Falun Gong practitioners' homes. On February 28, 2006, police arrested practitioner Ms. Yu Xiuhua in Dagangzi District and also forcibly searched practitioner Ms. Liu Li's home in Changgang Town. Police confiscated computers, printers and other items and also arrested Ms. Liu Li.

On March 1, the police tried to enter a practitioner's home again in the Kouqian District. The practitioner solemnly resisted. Police then jumped over the neighbor's wall into the practitioner's home to conduct their illegal search.

According to today's news, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Cheng Peiming who was held in the Daqing City Prison was transferred to a hospital in Daqing City during the period when he was on a hunger strike. Subsequently, Mr. Cheng managed to walk away from the hospital.

62. [Yanji City, Jilin Province] A Falun Gong Truth-Clarification Material Site Damaged and About Eleven Practitioners Arrested

A Falun Gong truth-clarification material site from Yanji City in Jilin Province was damaged on February 28, 2006. A large amount of equipment was confiscated and about eleven practitioners were arrested.

Ms. Zhang Yiqun, around 36, is a practitioner from Wuhou District of Chengdu City. Ms. Zhang works as a cadre in the News Department of the Wuhou District Culture and Sports Bureau and specializes in record keeping. In November 2005, she was arrested by police from the National Security Group of Chengdu City. Her office was searched and her property was confiscated. Now her whereabouts are not clear.

On the evening of March 1, 2006, practitioner Mr. Hong Zhenyan from Wafangdian District of Dalian City in Liaoning Province was arrested by local police when he was posting Falun Gong truth-clarification messages. He is currently being held in the Xishan Detention Center of Wafangdian District.

The Datun District 610 Office in Beijing City is now hiring a large numbers of migrant workers from outside of Beijing to follow and monitor Falun Gong practitioners.

Ms. Sun Yunna is a practitioner from Fuyuan Town of Fuyuan County. She is currently being held in the Fuyuan County Detention Center.

The National Security Group of the Ankang Railroad Police Department arrested practitioner Mr. Li Xiaobing at about 6:00 p.m. on March 3, 2006 in Dazhou City.

On February 6, 2006, when practitioner Ms. Lin Yusheng from Anbu Town of Chaoan County in Guangdong Province was at home, police from the Chaoan County Police Department and the local police station ransacked her home. The police only found several amulets, but they forcibly arrested Ms. Lin Yusheng. The next day they immediately sent her to the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp where she is being tortured.

At least three practitioners were arrested and their homes were ransacked by the 610 Office personnel on February 27, 2006.

On February 28, 2006, the Ministry of Public Security held a press conference in Beijing, on the topic of "Public Security Management Punishment Law Officially in Action from March 1, 2006". During the press conference, when a reporter asked how this law regulates Falun Gong, the Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Public Security, Wu Mingshan (male), and the Director of the Legislative Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security, Ke Liangdong (male) openly claimed, "Those who practice Falun Gong can be sentenced to forced labor according to the 'law'". This news was published on the Guangzhou Daily, A3 page, on March 1, 2006 (Wednesday) (on the Key News Page, the Chief Editor is Cao Su'ning (male), email: gzrbywb@gzdaily.com).

Around February 24, 2006, the Wudi County Procuratorate in Shandong Province sent police to the house of practitioner Mr. Jin Guangzhi, who lives in Haixing County in Hebei Province. The police forced Mr. Jin Guangzhi to sign his name on some materials and put down his fingerprints.

(Note: Mr. Jin Guangzhi was arrested by the police from the Wudi County Police Department while he was distributing truth-clarification materials in Wudi County, Shandong Province on October 18, 2005. He was rescued and taken home in the middle of December 2005.)

73. [Beijing City] The Whereabouts of Several Practitioners, Including Mr. Bai Shaohua from Beijing, Are Unknown

Practitioner Mr. Bai Shaohua walked out from the Gaoyang Forced Labor Camp in Hebei Province after he filed the paperwork for being released in order to seek medical care. Now he lives in a small district on Yongding Road, Haidian District of Beijing. Early on the morning of March 3, 2006, at about 1:30 a.m., the owner of the house tried to enter Mr. Bai's house, with a very rude attitude. Mr. Bai did not open the door. The owner used the key to lock him inside the house from outside of the door. At that time, Mr. Bai's mother, his youngest daughter, and fellow practitioners Mr. Li Xupeng and Mr. Ma Wanli were all inside the house. Actually, the police had already surrounded the house. All communications with these practitioners have been interrupted since that morning.

Practitioner Mr. Gao Ke was arrested on February 28, 2006. On March 1, 2006, another practitioner went to his home and was also arrested.

On October 19, 2005, a Falun Gong truth-clarification material site in Baoding City was destroyed, and practitioners Ms. Xiao Hui and Ms. Zhi Yuan were arrested. Ms. Xiao Hui was sent to the Baoding City Forced Labor Camp soon after she was arrested. Ms. Xiao Hui is from Yujiazhuang Village, Beishan Township, Yi County of Baoding City in Hebei Province.

On the afternoon of March 2, 2006, police from the Laishui Town Police Station used the excuse of hosting two conferences to break into the homes of practitioners Ms. Xia Hongrui, Mr. Xia Hongmin, and Mr. Xia Shulong without any warrants or legal procedures. Their harassment of the practitioners caused severe psychological stress to the practitioners' families again.

On March 3, 2006, several police officers from the Sunzhuang Township Police Station suddenly broke into practitioner Mr. Liu Fengran's home in Beihengqi Village. Although nobody was home, the police broke the door and lock and entered the house. They confiscated Falun Gong books and a cell phone.

Practitioner Ms. Shang Fengshan from Anshan City has been held for four to five days and is still in police custody.

On March 2, 2006, several practitioners, including Ms. An Yingji from Tumen City in Jilin Province, were arrested and are now being held in the Tumen City Police Station.

On March 1, or March 2, 2006, practitioners Ms. Dong Yunxiao and Mr. Lao He from Shijiazhuang City (who lived in the area of Xinhua District) were illegally arrested.

On February 22, 2006, practitioner Ms. Song Zhenlan was arrested by the following persons: the village police stations's CCP Secretary, Zhi Dongzhi (male), the Deputy Director of Fangshan Police Department, Lu Xiong (male) and police officers Zhang Wenqing (male) and Kou Shixiong (male), and others, who altogether made up more than ten people. They forcibly took Ms. Song Zhenlan to the Fangshan Police Department Detention Center.

Recently, under the instructions from the Chengyang District Education Committee and Chengyang District Committee, propaganda paintings that defame Master Li, defame Falun Gong, and twist the facts of the Nine Commentaries of Communist Party have begun to appear in the propaganda posting sites opposite Sun City on Zhengyang Road of Chengyang District.

Recently some classes in the Jiangjun Road Middle School of the Dongxihu District Farm of Wuhan City in Hubei Province required students to write essays that defame Falun Gong, with less than 600 words. Near the school, plainclothes police officers are asking students whether they have withdrawn from the CCP Youth League and who helped them to withdraw.

On February 23, 2006, the Head of the 610 Office in Jiawang District, Xuzhou City in Jiangsu Province, Zhao Rujian (male), and police from the Xingongqu Police Station illegally arrested Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Cheng Jimei and her son. The whereabouts of both of them are not clear.

(1) "Tying the rope," a type of brutal torture, refers to putting a thin nylon rope around the back of a person's neck, and then wrapping it around both shoulders down to each arm loop by loop, and then over each hand. The rope is tightened to its limit and it cuts into the flesh. Both arms are forced behind the back and raised to the extreme, and then both thumbs are tied with a rope and locked to the rope that goes around the back of the neck. The person tortured in this way is then kicked to kneel down on the floor. (2) The detainee is locked up in a very small cell individually. The guards handcuff practitioners behind their back in a fixed position, in which the practitioners can neither move nor lie down. The small cell is very damp and no sunshine comes in. Detainees have to urinate and defecate in the cell. Only half of a regular meal is served to detainees locked up in a small cell during the daytime. During the night the rats are running around. The stench in the small cell is so bad that it is difficult to breathe.
