  • The Death of Pilot Liu Ping at the Shuangkou Forced Labor Camp

Falun Gong practitioner Liu Ping was from Hedong District, Tianjin City. He was a pilot with a good income, a beautiful family, and excellent health. After the persecution of Falun Gong by the Jiang regime began, Liu Ping was illegally arrested and taken to Shuangkou Labor Camp where he was tortured to death. He died on January 1, 2002.

One morning of January 2, 2002, the Education Leader Zheng Junhong from the First Team of the Tianjin Shuangkou Labor Camp instructed a gang of torturers, comprised of gangsters and drug addicts, to remove the clothes of Liu Ping, whose dead body had been discovered earlier in the day. The body was already stiff with blood, flesh and pus stuck to the clothes so that they could not even be removed.

At this time, the Labor Camp warden Zheng Junhong asked the gang to cut off the clothes and use a wet towel to soak the parts that couldn't be removed, in order to peel them off layer by layer. Thus the pus and blood was cleaned off and the body was then clothed in a tidy labor camp uniform to cover up their heinous deeds.

After half a day's work, the Zheng Junhong still felt that something hadn't been done. He asked the gang, "Do any of you have relatives that work in hospitals? If you can come up with a certificate showing that this person died in the hospital, I will terminate your imprisonment here and free you immediately."

Sure enough, one of the convict's mother worked in a hospital, and a fake death certificate was obtained very quickly; thus the criminal was discharged from the prison.

In this way, the young Falun Gong practitioner Liu Ping, was "legally cremated." Liu Ping's family members still suffer from not knowing the circumstances of their son's death, while the labor camp convict who managed to obtain the certificate was released immediately.

Liu Ping's death was definitely not accidental. In the Tianjin Shuangkou Labor Camp, in order to "transform" Falun Gong practitioners who believe in the principles of "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance," the policemen there have made use of convicts to commit countless inhumane crimes against Falun Gong practitioners by enticing convicts with "reduction of prison terms," or by offering "immediate release" if they are able to "transform" even one practitioner.

The guards at the labor camps not only use electric batons and wooden sticks to beat practitioners, they also incite convicts to beat and torture practitioners at will. All kinds of torture equipment have been used. One such torture method is a "soft" form of torture method, which is to make Falun Gong practitioners work for more than 20 hours each day, from 5:30 a.m. until after 2 a.m. the next day. Practitioners are tortured by the police every single day, and suffer brutal beatings if they are slow or can't finish their work. Moreover, the living conditions within the labor camp are simply intolerable, being dimly lit and damp. Eighty percent of all Falun Gong practitioners there have developed scabies as a result of the filthy living conditions.

Liu Ping passed away in such conditions. On the day he died, he was forced to work for more than 20 hours and closed his eyes forever after he climbed back into his bed.

Liu Ping's death has not made the Tianjin Shuangkou Labor Camp police cease committing crimes at all. Instead, their torture methods have become more ruthless and brutal. In fact, the only thing they have learned is how to avoid being held responsible after practitioners have been tortured to death. For instance, another Falun Gong practitioner from Tianjin Dagang District named Guo Jianxuan was persecuted until he became so emaciated that he was unable to eat or talk, or move for a long time. Even when it reached this point, no one did anything to help him. Policeman Zheng Junhong became afraid that he would die in bed the same way Liu Ping did, and decided to send him home while he still had some life in him. However, we do not know if this happened and to this day we do not know Guo Jianxuan's whereabouts.

All the above are real things that happened in this labor camp under the direct supervision of the Ministry of Public Security. It fully demonstrates the inhumanity and brutality with which evil criminals, under the control of the Chinese Communist Party are still carrying out the persecution.

Elderly Couple Whose Son Was Tortured to Death Appeal for Release of Daugher-in-law from Prison

Mr. Yang Xiaojie was a Falun Gong practitioner from Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province. He was being detained in the Fourth Prison of Hebei Prison (also known as Shijiazhuang Northern Suburban Prison). On December 28, 2005, after numerous requests from his family, the prison authorities, along with the Hebei Province Prison Administrative Bureau, finally released him, but by that time he was on the verge of death. When he was rushed to a hospital for emergency treatment, the doctor said: "Why did you bring him here when he is already in such a state? It's too late!" On January 26, 2006, Yang Xiaojie died as a result of the torture he suffered in the prison.

Since July 20, 1999, Yang Xiaojie and his wife Liu Runling were held in detention centers, incarcerated, and had their home ransacked many times by the Chinese Communist officials and police just because they persisted in their belief in "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance." During the evening of September 28, 2001, they were taken away and held in custody. On September 9, 2002, they were both sentenced to 11 years in prison. Yang Xiaojie was incarcerated in Shijiazhuang Northern Suburban Prison where he suffered inhuman tortures. Three years later, he passed away one month after being released. His wife continues to endure torture and maltreatment in Hebei Province Women's Prison. During the last four years, their daughter has been deprived of parental care and guidance.

Mr. Yang's elderly parents call on the authorities to unconditionally release their daughter-in-law, Liu Runling, so that she can take care of her daughter who was orphaned when her parents were arrested in September 2001.

The following is their appeal letter.

    * * * * * * * *

My name is Cui Fugui. I am Yang Xiaojie's mother, Liu Runling's mother-in-law. On January 26, 2005, at 11:15 a.m., my darling son Yang Xiaojie passed away. He left his loved ones after being terribly wronged for over four years. He was tortured to death by jailors in Shijiazhuang Northern Suburban Prison. He could not bear to think about leaving his parents, both of whom are in their seventies; nor could he bear to part from his dear wife. It was even more agonizing for him to think that he would be leaving behind his 16-year-old daughter, his only child, whom he loved dearly.

When we saw what Xiaojie looked like upon his release, we could not believe our eyes. A young man who was once lively and healthy with a strong build, weighing 70 kg, or 154 lb., was reduced to a skeletal-looking frame. He weighed less than 40 kg (88 lb.). My whole family, our relatives, and friends cried our hearts out. We, an elderly couple, suddenly lost our darling son; it felt like the sky had fallen. Such grief could literally take our lives. Xiaojie's father wished to die in place of his son. I was like sleepwalking for a period of time, spending every day as if in a dream. Ever since Xiaojie was incarcerated in the Fourth Prison of Hebei Prison, his father missed him so much that he got up at six in the morning every day and walked around the prison--a five mile round trip. Now Xiaojie is gone, and we ask ourselves, "How did he endure such trauma?!"

Xiaojie's daughter Wenjing is 16. She lost her loving father and feels like a helpless orphan. Our daughter-in-law Liu Runling was also sentenced to 11 years in prison for practicing Falun Gong. She is now incarcerated in Hebei Province Women's Prison and is deprived of the right to look after her daughter. My husband and I are both in our seventies. We need help with our routine daily lives, yet the sudden loss of our son torments us tremendously. How will we have the strength to continue to look after our granddaughter?

As a matter of fact, it is a tremendous challenge to educate and communicate with a child of 16. Moreover, we have a generation gap with her. The pitiful child has endured so much cruelty and suffered a lot. Her father's sudden death was a huge tragedy after the suffering of living without her parent's care for more than four years. Even before her father died, she didn't like to come home, nor did she want to go to school. Now she really doesn't have the courage to come home and face us, her heartbroken grandparents.

On top of all this is the fact that there are all kinds of temptations in today's society. We are deeply worried about our granddaughter. We are worried that she might become morally corrupted by society and go astray, which would be a calamity for our already devastated family. Liu Runling has lost her dear husband. If her daughter goes astray, how will she have the courage to live? We feel that society has a responsibility to show concern for Liu Runling and her daughter. This is the responsibility of every citizen in China.

Wenjing's parents were arrested when she was only 11 years old and a fourth grade student. She lost the love and care of her parents and lived with us, her grandparents. After she graduated from middle school, her uncle volunteered to pay the expensive tuition and support her so she could go to the No. 40 high school. She was a good child and didn't want her uncle to spend so much money on her. She chose to go to a local high school instead. During the first year at middle school she made very high marks. However, as she grew older, we had more and more difficulty in communicating with her. She was also influenced by the rather chaotic state of society. Gradually, she no longer wanted to come home. Her uncle and aunt spent a lot of effort taking care of her and trying to talk to her, but she became more and more rebellious. She stopped going to school and seldom went home. She claimed she was working as an hourly contractor to support herself. We made a big effort to look for her. But every time we found her whereabouts, she would immediately move to another place. Sometimes, we didn't hear from her and didn't know where she was for a whole month. She would not answer the phone when we called her. After her father's funeral, she completely separated from us. She is only 16 years old and is a young girl. If she continues to live this way she will be ruined!

My son passed away. The Shijiazhuang Northern Suburban Prison murdered him. The jailors intentionally concealed my son's injuries and medical condition for more than a year, which was the best time to get him help through medical care. During that year, all family members were forbidden to visit him, causing our son tremendous mental trauma. Moreover, the food in prison was so terrible that Xiaojie could not stomach it. He was thus reduced to a skeleton.

My son suffered unjust treatment and has passed away. My daughter-in-law is still incarcerated and cannot come home. We are leading a truly tragic life. We appeal from the bottom of our hearts: "All kind-hearted people please find a way to help us. Bring back my daughter-in-law Liu Runling! Bring her back so that she can rehabilitate her daughter before it is too late!"

    A Village Woman's Suffering

Zhang Jimei, 32, lives in Changming Village, Duozhuang Town, Mengyin County, Shandong Province. After July 20, 1999, as Jiang's regime started persecuting Falun Gong, the lawless people from Duozhuang Town Police Station kept breaking into Zhang's home and harassing her, to the point that Zhang Jimei was forced to leave her home.

When the police couldn't find Zhang Jimei, more than ten people, led by the town head Zhang Dawei, together with policeman Zhang Shimin from the police station, went to search her home. Zhang's husband Liu Changhong (who did not practice Falun Gong) stood on the roof of the one-floor house and tried to stop those people from breaking into the room. Zhang Shimin and other police forcibly broke through the door. He went to the roof with a gun in his hand and threatened to shoot Liu Changhong. Liu's mother climbed to the roof and tried to stop them. Zhang Shimin beat her on her shoulder, which caused her to fall from the roof to the ground. The evil people did not care whether the old woman lived or died. They confiscated all the grains and the furniture and took away Liu Changhong from his house. They met the head of the police station, Du Zhongmu, outside who was coming to meet them. Du Zhongmu beat and kicked Liu Changhong. They then put him in the police car and took him to the courtyard of Duozhuang Town. Liu Changhong was handcuffed to a pine tree in the yard. Later a big storm came and he was exposed to the pouring rain for four to five hours. At night, they cuffed him to a heating radiator. Several people, including the town head, Zhang Dawei, took turns beating him. On the following day they sent him to Mengyin Detention Center. He was illegally detained for fifteen days.

On May 17, 2001, the police in Duozhuang Police Station arrested Zhang Jimei. However, no one knew her. In order to know where she came from, police officer Zhang Shimin beat and whipped her with a bench and wire. He slapped her face with a book. At night, she was cuffed to a window frame. Four to five people took turns depriving her of sleep by flashing light in her face whenever she closed her eyes. One week later, she was sent to Mengyin Detention Center. A month later, she was sent to the Mengyin 610 Office.

About ten days later, the evil people in the 610 Office, led by Li Zhiye, sentenced Zhang Jimei to three years of forced labor without going through any legal procedures. In August 2001, Zhang Jimei was sent to No. 1 Women's Forced Labor Camp in Jinan City.

Wang Shuzhen, head of  the 1st Group of  the 1st Women's Forced Labor Camp, often instigated prisoners to conduct inhuman torture, both physically and mentally, on the practitioners who persisted in their faith. In December 2001, Wang Shuzhen instigated the prisoners to tie Zhang Jimei to a chair with both hands and both feet tied behind. She was not allowed to use the restroom for a week. Seven days later, her hands and feet were so swollen that the skin became glossy, like a balloon. There were also many blisters on her feet. She was unable to stand up after she was released from the chair. She was carried onto a board by two people and spent a night in that state. Later she was tied to a bed with both hands and feet stretched out (death bed). For more than ten days her body was unable to move at all. She was not allowed to leave the bed or use the restroom. To eat, one of her hands was released. Her hand had swollen so much that she had difficulty in even holding a steamed bun. The room was damp and cold with a bad smell.

In summer 2002, a new wave of persecution started. Zhang Jimei was detained in a dark, damp room. For five days and five nights, she was forced to stand there with two arms stretched straight, attached to a metal pipe. She was then tied to the wooden board for more than ten days. She was not allowed to get up even when she had to use the restroom. She was detained in such a solitary confinement several times. Inside, one would not know whether it was daytime or nighttime. Sometimes she was not allowed to sleep or eat. One time another torture method was used. Zhang Jimei was forced to sit on the floor with her two legs stretched straight in front and tied to a metal pipe along the wall. If she moved a little bit, she was kicked and beaten with fists. This torture lasted seventeen days. She once refused to cooperate with the police's command to take a shower. The group leader Shi told Lu Yingbe, "Drag her out!" Four to five scoundrels forcibly pulled her to the shower room and threw her to the ground. A basin of hot water was dumped on her body. Her arm was broken and burned, and bleeding.

In spring 2003, Zhang Jimei was transferred to another place. To protest the persecution, she started a hunger strike. She was tied on the "death bed" and force-fed. Some held her arms and some held her legs. A plastic pipe was inserted through her nose. She was unable to breath and experienced extreme pain. Once, she refused to cooperate with the force-feeding and pulled the tube out. Zhang Xixiang viciously cursed her and twisted her ears forcefully, which made her ears swell. Zhang Jimei was tied on the bed for two months. Her bottom was covered with scabies, which brought her unimaginable pain.

The guards in the labor camp were most afraid of their crimes spreading to the outside and always tried to block any news. When Zhang Jimei's family visited her she said, "Falun Gong is good," which was heard by the guards. When she returned, team head Sun Yuhua pushed her against a wall, and her head hit the wall so hard that she couldn't hear anything. They then brought tape and sealed her mouth with several layers to prevent her from talking.

Since Zhang Jimei was sent to forced labor, her family has suffered much pressure. Her husband, Liu Changhong, her five or six year old child, her mother-in-law and disabled father-in-law lived a very hard life. Lei Yancheng from the Mengyin 610 Office led several scoundrels to harass her family. Her father-in-law was unable to handle the pressure and passed away in July 2003.

For almost eighteen months of the three years in the forced labor camp, Zhang Jimei was detained in solitary confinement. She was tied and made to continuously stand during the daytime, and tied to the "death bed" at night. The longest time was for more than four months. The shortest was two weeks.

Zhang Jimei suffered brutal persecution day and night for more than 1000 days. Even when she was extremely weak and suffering mental trauma, she still kept her righteous belief in Falun Gong and never said a word against her conscience. Zhang Jimei was released in April 2004. The persecution affected her mental state and at that time she refused to talk at all.

However, after persisting in reading the book and practicing the exercises, several months later her health improved. Her mental state became normal. The miracle and wonder of Falun Gong manifested in her.

On December 10, 2004, when Zhang Jimei distributed truth-clarifying materials in Huangyia Village (now called Xinlongqiao Village), Jiepai Town, she was reported to the police. The head of the village, Bo Jilin, and several other s detained her in the village office. When the police arrived, they tried to make her tell them her name and address. She firmly refused. The two police officers took turns beating her, holding her hair and the corner of her trousers, and then throwing her to the ground from one meter high. Later several police came and kicked, slapped and beat her with their fists. Her mouth and nose kept bleeding, and her clothes were covered with blood. Much of her hair was pulled out. Police held her neck, which made her unable to breath.

Later she was sent to the Jiepai Police Station. They continued to interrogate her. She was handcuffed to a desk leg and sat on the concrete ground. Two police officers cursed her and started shocking her specifically on her mouth with a high voltage electric baton until her lips turned black. By the next morning, her mouth had been shocked so badly that she was unable to open it. They tied her to a tree in the yard. In the afternoon, she was sent to the Mengyin 610 Office. To cover up their crime, they forced her to wash the blood off her face and take off her blood-stained clothes.

When the police found out her identification, they went to her home immediately that night and searched through her house, however they didn't find anything. At that time, only her 60-year-old mother-in-law and her seven/eight-year-old son were at home.

Zhang Jimei was detained in the Mengyin 610 Office for thirty days. She didn't tell anything to those people. Duozhuang Police Station forced her husband to pay 500 yuan and finally released her. When she was released, her face was swollen and bruised so much that her eyes were almost invisible. It took a month for her face to look normal.

Falun Gong Practitioner Zhou Xiangyang Suffering Abuse and Torment at the Gangbei Prison in Tianjin

Most of the Falun Gong practitioners illegally detained in the Gangbei Prison have been sentenced to more than five years. They have suffered from physical abuse and mental torment through forced labor and being overworked.

Practitioner Zhou Xiangyang, 32 years old, was an engineer at the Railroad Department's Third Investigation and Design Institute. In early 2000, Mr. Zhou had been detained in the Shuangkou Forced Labor Camp for one and a half years and was subsequently transferred to the Yushan Forced Labor Camp in Ji County to serve a one-year extension. Following that, Mr. Zhou was transferred again and detained at the Jianxin Forced Labor Camp in Tianjin. For health reasons, he was unconditionally released. On May 31, 2003, Mr. Zhou was arrested again and detained at the Hexi Detention Center in the Hexi District in Tianjin. He was later sentenced to nine years in prison and transferred to the Gangbei Prison.

Mr. Zhou had been subjected to severe torture in both the Shuangkou and Yushan Forced Labor Camps. The details were posted on the Clearwisdom web site (/emh/articles/2005/10/3/65504.html). Police at the Gangbei Prison have recently started to subject him to another cycle of physical abuse and mental torment. They have been using two torture methods called "the deep trenching" and "irrigating" on him for about three months. The "the deep trenching" is to isolate him from any other Falun Gong practitioners and his relatives and friends. He is locked in a single cell and only has contact with the prison guards. The "irrigating" is to forcefully instill in him the Communist regime's propaganda and thus brainwash him daily and forbid him to sleep. As a result, Mr. Zhou has become mentally traumatized.

Persecution of Falun Gong Practitioners at the Gansu Province Women's Forced Labor Camp

Incident 1. Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhao Yueqin refused to write a guarantee statement during her illegal detention at the Gansu Province Women's Forced Labor Camp. The guards made her work during the day and stand at night. Ms. Zhao is in her 50s and could not stand for a long time after working hard the whole day. When she squatted down, the guards verbally and physically attacked her so loudly that others were awakened by the noise. Ms. Zhao could not stand up anymore and sat on the floor with her back against the wall. Zhao Li, the inmate on duty, beat and kicked her and stomped on her head and face with her shoes. They tortured Zhao Yueqin for about 20 days.

Incident 2. Practitioner Ms. Zhang Youfu spoke of her persecution experiences in the past year during a so-called "test." The guards and inmates beat her and used other corporal punishment on her. They forced her to stand at night. She went on a hunger strike to protest the mistreatment. One day after lunch several roughnecks beat her until she could not walk and had to be carried. Her face was black and blue.

Incident 3. Practitioner Ms. Li Zhaoying was in her 60s and the oldest detainee at the labor camp. She refused to attend the so-called "test." The guards forced her to stand in the yard at night during the cold winter, and they made her clean the yard with a piece of cloth and cold water. The temperature was so low that the cloth froze soon after it was pulled out of the water. Inmate Li Shuhua forced Ms. Li to wipe the yard repeatedly. Even many drug addicts could not bear to watch it and walked away.

Incident 4. Practitioner Ms. Chai Mei was sent to the labor camp in December 2002. She refused to attend the so-called "test" and refused to write guarantee statements. With insinuated orders from the guards, one inmate viciously attacked Chai Mei's face until it was black and blue. Ms. Chai was forced to wipe the yard with a piece of cloth and cold water and had to stand in the day and at night. They ordered her to stand on tiptoe, with her head against the wall and the soles of her feet off the ground. When she refused to cooperate, inmate Fu Hongxia beat and kicked her. She stepped on Ms. Chai's hair and pushed her against the wall. Inmate Chen Yuejie beat Ms. Chai Mei until she was covered in blood. Blood from Ms. Chai's nose and mouth formed clumps on her sweater, and the flesh inside and outside her mouth was ragged. She could barely open her mouth to eat. She was tortured for about 20 days.

The guards transferred Ms. Chai to another group because she was very determined in her faith in Falun Gong. Inmate Liu Cuijuan in this group was well known for torturing practitioners. The guards handpicked two inmates, Lu Decui and Zhang Hongling, to monitor Ms. Chai. The guards set Monday as the deadline for her to submit guarantee statements.

Chai Mei was taken to an empty room. Zhang Haixia was the first to hurl insults at her and beat her. Then inmates Liu Cuijuan, Lu Decui and Zhang Hongling savagely beat her. In the end, they said they would hang her up with a rope. They couldn't find a rope, so they whipped her with a belt. The belt hit Ms. Chai's forehead, and blood streamed down her face.

People couldn't recognize Chai Mei the next day, because she was covered in wounds. Her head, face, and neck were severely swollen and black and blue. Her chest was savagely beaten and almost immobile. Her head was covered in bumps, and she could not put her head on a pillow because it hurt so much. She could barely walk. Despite her condition, the perpetrators forced her to clean the toilets, not with a mop but with a piece of cloth. Her severe injuries made it difficult for her to squat and stand up. Even now she cannot use her front teeth and cannot exert force with her chest.

Incident 5. The guards knew that none of the "reformed" Falun Gong practitioners really wanted to give up their belief, so they always ordered other inmates to monitor the practitioners and forbid them from speaking to each other. The inmates followed the practitioners everywhere. They were afraid the practitioners would return to Falun Gong. In March 2005, Gansu Province 610 Office agents went to the labor camp for a so-called appraisal. The practitioners either refused or they spoke the truth to the agents. The guards were furious and tortured the practitioners. They detained the practitioners, beat them, inflicted other kinds of corporal punishment, and cursed them.

The guards encouraged the criminal inmates to torture practitioners by promising them points and credits for each practitioner they "reformed." The inmates contrived all kinds of methods to earn these points. They handcuffed the practitioners and hung them up with ropes. Practitioners who were previously healthy looked emaciated and sickly after they left the solitary confinement cell.

The criminal inmates who failed to turn even one practitioner against Falun Gong were replaced with another group of inmates. Guard Zhou Zizhong said that the most vicious inmates were to be used to torture Falun Gong practitioners until the practitioners gave up their belief.

Mr. Zhang Chunbao and Five Other Falun Gong Practitioners Persecuted in Mianyang City, Sichuan Province

On the evening of April 28, 2005, Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Feng Wei, Mr. Zhang Chunbao, Mr. Yin Huajie, Mr. Yue Bin, Ms. Gao Yan, and Ms. Ming Zhu rode in Mr. Yue's car. In Beichuan County, Mianyang, their car was stopped by Beichuan County police. The six Falun Gong practitioners were illegally arrested and imprisoned in Beichuan County Jail.

During their imprisonment, police officers led by the head of the Beichuan County National Security Team, Pu Jianguo, carried out interrogation with torture in a deserted postal service guesthouse. Mr. Zhang Chunbao, Mr. Feng Wei, Mr. Yue Bin and Ms. Ming Zhu were all interrogated and tortured there.

Mr. Feng was cruelly tortured by Pu Jianguo, Deng Changda and other policemen. He was forced to stand for long periods with both hands handcuffed to a chair. At other times he had his hands cuffed behind his back, with one hand over the shoulder and the other pulled up from behind, for several hours. A policeman from the Drug Abuse Investigation Crew, Wang Jian, intentionally beat Mr. Feng's shoulder to cause great pain and insulted Mr. Feng Wei and his parents with the most obscene foul language. Even after 8-9 months, bruises from the handcuffs could be seen very clearly. The police also forcefully grabbed Mr. Feng's hand and pressed his fingerprint onto a blank piece of paper and threatened him by saying: "We can casually write down several crimes on this paper, and then we can sentence you to eight to ten year's imprisonment."

When Mr. Zhang Chunbao was interrogated, he did not cooperate with the police. Pu Jianguo directed policeman Mu Guangchuan and another policeman to beat his face and kick and beat his chest. This caused Mr. Zhang's face and feet to swell and made him disorientated and dizzy. When Mr. Zhang returned to the prison, he reported the beating to the vice instructor of the prison, Mu Xiaoling, but he did not get any response. Mr. Zhang carried out a two-day hunger strike to protest.

Mr. Yue Bin suffered three days of mental torture. Threats, intimidation, and the numerous attempts they made to induce a confession and extort evidence caused Mr. Yue to feel dizzy and nauseous. After several days, his mind was still not clear. Policemen Pu Jianguo, Cao Anzhong, Mu Guangchuan, Chen Yi, Deng Changda and Liu Jun from Beichuan County National Security Team, a person surnamed Ren, head of Mianyang Municipal National Security Team, and Zhao Jing, took turns interrogating Ms. Ming Zhu for over fifty hours. They did not allow her to sleep for over 24 hours. Ms. Gao Yan was personally insulted in Santai County Prison, threatened, forced to stand for extended periods of time, and punished physically by the police. Mr. Yin Huajie suffered one week of torture in An County Prison. His body and mind were greatly damaged from the extended torture.

The news of the persecution of these six Falun Gong practitioners from Mianyang City was reported on Clearwisdom.net many times. Falun Gong practitioners overseas continuously made calls to clarify the truth, but the evil-doers still acted willfully and continued the persecution. On January 23, 2006, a Beichuan County Court secretly held a trial and did not inform the Falun Gong practitioners' relatives. They superficially and hastily held a trial for the case. In court, the judge did not allow the Falun Gong practitioners to defend themselves. If they tried, the police would stop them. In court, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Feng Wei exposed the fact that the police forced him to confess through torture in the process of interrogation. The presiding judge of the criminal department in Beichuan County Court, Zhu Jihong, was illiterate in the law and a hoodlum to boot. He said: "You committed a crime, you deserve punishment!" With fabricated evidence, the police, prosecutor and judge colluded together and prepared a written judgment beforehand, and then they asked Falun Gong practitioners to make final statements in the court. Practitioners were only allowed to answer whether they "acknowledged guilt" or not. They illegally and heavily sentenced five Falun Gong practitioners. Mr. Zhang Chunbao, Mr. Yin Huajie, and Ms. Gao Yan were each sentenced to eight years; Mr. Feng Wei seven and a half years; Ms. Ming Zhu, five years; Mr. Yue Bin, a three-year suspended sentence. Mr. Yue's car, his computer, a notebook computer given to him for teaching by the Southwest Scientific and Technical University, and his friends' belongings that were being stored at his home were illegally confiscated.

All Falun Gong practitioners who were illegally sentenced refused to accept the verdict and appealed to the First Criminal Court in Mianyang Intermediate Court.

Practitioners Ms. Li Jifeng and Ms. Liu Fanqin Cruelly Persecuted at the Yongchuan Women's Prison in Chongqing

    Ms. Li Jifeng

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Li Jifeng from the Beibei District of Chongqing City was cruelly tortured at the Yongchuan Women's Prison. The guards shocked her face and other parts of her body with electric batons, which caused swelling and disfigurement. Ms. Li was on the brink of a mental breakdown for some time. Following are details.

Ms. Li Jifeng was arrested in May 2003, in violation of the Chinese constitution. One afternoon, about eight police officers broke into her home in the Beibei District and took her to Beibei District Detention Center. They confiscated one desktop computer, one laptop computer, three mobile phones, two pagers and 5,000 yuan in cash from her home.

The police first sent Ms. Li to a detention center and then to a drug rehabilitation center. They used various methods to intimidate and persecute her. They didn't let her sleep and didn't give her a quilt in the winter. The guards also ordered the inmates to coerce her into phoning her family to ask for money. Ms. Li Jifeng said her family didn't have any money, so the inmates savagely beat her. The inmates deceived her family into bringing Li Jifeng some petty cash, and they robbed her of that. The guards used various tortures on Li Jifeng in an attempt to force her to reveal the details about "truth clarification" materials production sites. In December 2004, Ms. Li was illegally sentenced to eight years in prison and sent to the Yongchuan Women's Prison, where she is being held in Group 6. She is being abused and subjected to sleep deprivation.

The guards didn't allow her family to meet with her and refused to release her. They sentenced her to nine years in prison and sent her to the Yongchuan Women's Prison to be further persecuted. The authorities of the Yongchuan Women's Prison were afraid to take responsibility for her and they didn't accept her. The detention center officials tried many times, and eventually the prison admitted her and held her in Group 6.

Liu Fanqin's family wants to take her home on medial parole and get her treatment. The guards fear exposure of their persecution of practitioners. They refuse to release her by using all kinds of excuses. Even now, Ms. Liu cannot raise her hands and cannot take care of herself and requires assistance in daily living.
